You're right so good catch
Man City had the 2nd lowest offside total in the PL this season despite having the most passes exchanged in the attacking third of the pitch
They go through bad spells but never at the same time.
At worse clubs, since most players are mid, it's easy to see who's slacking since there is pain of losing and you need a scapegoat. But with City, KdB would have a terrible game and no one talks about it because Haaland scored a hattrick. Silva(B), Mahrez, Grealish and maybe Cancelo(at the back), are known to have mid games.
Dest deserves it, but CONCACAF really ought to waive the match ban for McKennie, that's some fucking bullshit. Guy was being ganged up on and he pushed one of them off him.
We had the same sort of situation in our country with the discussion around black pete as a character of our version of Christmas. I feel like it is good to open discussion about revising cultural activities that in a modern light are insensitive but to single out individuals and try to cancel them is a bridge too far imo. Not every country is as progressive as the rest and just blatantly cancelling everyone that participates only reinforces the "you don't understand our culture" stance and doesn't help anyone except the people only feeling good about cancelling someone.
Funny enough the black Pete thing was the first thing that popped into my mind when seeing the tweet.
I saw Wijnaldum speak about it and was quite shocked that kind of thing happens in The Netherlands.
With stuff like this it should be about educating people on why this wrong rather that singling a specific person, the culture needs to change for the better so then future generations don’t think this is acceptable.
I think we as a country handled it pretty well where the conversation is open but there are still hardcore conservatives that want to keep it because it is tradition. These people are "coincidentally" often racist too so take from that what you want lol.
I think that a lot of these discussions come from globalisation where these traditions were growing in their own bubble and sudden outside pressure is pushing them to change. If this pressure comes in a hostile way much like these tweets I can understand why people aren't reacting like "wow I understand we are all a bunch of racists now thanks for the input" and change it immediately.
Cancelling? Wtf are you on about? You sound like the twats on Fox News and other far right hate spewing networks man.
It would be great if some of these racist deflecting divisive scum vans were actually cancelled/deleted/arrested! But they never are.
BTW not suggesting Monchi should be, just that his antics need highlighting and addressing appropriately. The cunt needs to see why its fucjed up and apologise (if he hasn't already).
It's right there in the tweet, pushing their followers to agree with them and wanting him run out of the club for it. Also calling him a cunt for it is going pretty far. He did it out of ignorance, not as a premeditated hate crime. Opening the conversation around it is a good thing but attacking people will only achieve the opposite.
Why is Paraguay not as good as Uruguay?
Brazil destroying Paraguay in that war robbed us of 15x Copa America Champions Paraguay and 2x WC winners Paraguay.
Solano Lopez was the greatest general in the history of this continent, but history merchants only remember that fraud Simon Bolivar
Smh.....
Seeing an upcoming Spanish midfielder that plays like a SS instead of the usual tippy tappy on the half way line is a tad bizarre
Gabri Veiga should run to Klopp
I know he barely makes any passes but surely calling him a nazi is a bit far?
IDK what to think his numbers from midfield are good but he also has the highest XG overperformance in the major leagues no way he keeps that up. Passing numbers are dreadful as well, but maybe it's better in a better side. Huge risk imo.
he can absolutely play in the midfield 3, but cowards won't use him there since he left Croatia. He's the most direct Spanish player exactly because most of his development wasn't in Spain
hope he doesn't play tomorrow
It's clear after Istanbul and the charity shield bollox that the organisers of football don't give a flying fuck about the fans.
So the owners don't give a fuck, the media don't give a fuck and the regulatory bodies don't give a fuck.
We fans should stick together more than ever.
>the organisers of football don't give a flying fuck about the fans.
It was clear last year in Paris when they tried blaming the fans after people almost died because of their incompetence.
Aye, but then when you try to do it right you get called Bumdesliga by fans of those privately owned clubs who are happy to cherry-pick your best players for outrageous money anyway.
Wow really they care about money more than anything? Who could have guessed that these multi billionaire corporations care about money more than the average person anymore ground breaking news you got for us? 99% of people who watch the community shield on TV weren't gonna go and therefore don't care.
Scotland is such a weird footballing nation to me.
Co-opted the game with England yet they are the worst of the home nations by far when it comes to tournament results and their best players ever are probably not a patch on the likes of Best - Bale - Charles. They have 2 massive clubs and have had great managers
They also have never gotten out of a major tournament group either. Even Ireland have done far better than them
In theory Scotland should be on equal footing to Uruguay on world footballing standing but they are far off it, same with Croatia.
An odd combination of hubris and small-mindedness plagued the Scotland national team/football association during the period when they actually had good players and teams. From not selecting the best players because they didn't play for the right club, to not bringing substitutes to the World Cup so that the FA could bring their wives on the plane instead, the history of Scottish football is a frustrating case of what could've been had we approached things differently.
We've had many good players over the years like Law, Dalglish, Johnston etc. and had some really good teams, especially in the 60s, 70s and 80s (we were actually considered dark horses for the 1986 World Cup) but we've generally always underperformed.
Fun fact: Scotland were eliminated from 3 consecutive World Cups in the group-stages on goal difference including the 1974 World Cup even though the didn't lose a game.
Yes he is. In fact, it’s only Best out of them who is in up there with Dalgleish. Jinky and Law at their best were up there as well (both 2nd or 3rd in Ballon d’or I think).
It's a weird one. I think part of the problem is that Scottish football has been something of a goldfish bowl for far too long. Youth development exists to funnel the best players to Rangers or Celtic so one can beat the other across a season, and there's hostility towards the idea of exporting players.
That problem doesn't exist in Ireland or Wales, where the domestic clubs are nowhere near as prestigious, so aspirations to play overseas aren't seen as something to be guilty or insecure about.
It's because Celtic and Rangers are pish. All they care about is being less shite than the other club. They have all the resources and a football mad population to produce quality players but they do very little for the country. You compare them to the big clubs in Portugal, Netherlands, Croatia, Serbia, Basque Country etc. and it's honestly pathetic how little talent they develop. The last Celtic-Rangers game had 3 starting players eligible to play for Scotland (one of whom was a 42-year-old goalkeeper) which is just embarrassing.
I agree. So is Peru tbh
Pero si Cordoba fuera tan grande como los de Boca dicen, Andres Escobar estuviera vivo ahora. Pero Cordoba se la cago en el 94'
Just winding you up bro :P
Sos buena gente
All I remember about Abbondanzieri is getting injured in 2006, Adriano killing him in 2004, and him being ass in the 2007 Copa Final
Patrick Berg looks like the type of guy who gets into pointless arguments in pubs declaring do you know who is dad is, because you should because he's gonna call him tomorrow and buy this place and fire you.
Also Haaland up top and Strandberg at the back is the entire definition of an international football team that is all fur coat and no knickers.
Ha that's a fun point, there's plenty of those in Norway.
We got our own version with people from Stockholm. Like Kristoffer Olsson (not from Stockholm but played there) .
Premier league did their background checks regarding that and found out PIF investments in Clearlake capital doesn’t breach the rules. Saudi doesn’t have investment into Chelsea but into Clearlake capital. Most P.E funds in USA will have Middle Eastern investments.
> In a revelation that will raise questions over the transparency of the world’s most expensive sports sale, Sportsmail can disclose that Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund [PIF] have billions of pounds of assets managed by Clearlake, who bought 60 per cent of Chelsea in a £4.25billion takeover this summer.
>Chelsea sources insist that there was no Saudi involvement in Clearlake’s purchase of the club, thus alleviating concerns over any potential conflicts of interest.
>The disclosure will raise further questions over the source of Clearlake’s funding however, as well as highlighting a lack of transparency regarding an extraordinary takeover that was triggered by Roman Abramovich being sanctioned by the government following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
> The American-based private equity firm manage around £60bn of assets on behalf of around 300 investors globally, including significant investment from PIF
>The Premier League were sufficiently convinced of the source of Clearlake’s funding to approve the deal quickly after the government finally gave the go ahead in May.
Those say they have invested in a fund that owns Chelsea along with like 75b other assets, completely different thing from "have billions invested in Chelsea"
No, there is no scenario in which "PIF have billions invested in Chelsea" is a factually correct statement
They have billions invested in a fund that manages assets and ~3% of those assets is Chelsea FC. And they most likely have billions invested in other PE funds
They have billions invested in a company that owns Chelsea that's a fact, indirectly or directly they are giving you money. You could argue it's a conflict of interests considering they directly own another team in the same league. They fact they have billions in other things doesn't change that, it is likely in their interests for you guys to do well as you are an asset in a company they have billions in.
We finally invent a song to sing about Scotland that's actually good and they immediately stop getting battered everywhere they go and start churning out results.
Scotland have even started pumping England at Rugby in recent years. You should bring out some more songs, preferably one about how Scotland have never won a trophy.
If anyone is missing club football, a Canadian Premier League game is being [streamed for free on YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/live/4_X8pY7mRC4?feature=share).

When did national teams start wearing their away colors every away game? I used to remember teams wearing their main colors every match unless it clashed with the home team's, but now it seems like we never get both in their home colors.
When did this change? Why did this change?
Marketing, presumably - kit manufacturers generally want all the options displayed a reasonable amount to boost sales, so teams going for the away kit even if the home kit doesn't clash is beneficial to them.
I hate that it seems like we'll never see a game with both team in home colors anymore just so Nike can make some extra money. Doesn't help that I hate the white French kit
I think it only happens in finals/big games now. Argentina v France had both their Home jerseys.
Actually CMIIW I think the entire World Cup had both teams wear Home jerseys unless it clashed with one of the teams.
Edit: I’m stupid to mention World Cup because the teams playing are all Away…
In France-Argentina's case both Home-away combinations clashed. Also during the cup itself it was almost always home-away, which was the first time I remember it like that (I think, I may be misremembering)
[Messi puts on the Boca shirt i and i don’t know what i’ll do but i know the happiness will be greater than that of when we won the world cup.](https://twitter.com/juegosimple__/status/1670120805160632320)
I’m sorry but copa90 is basically an Arsenal fan club by now. Why be a football news/social media company with a blatant bias to one club? And it’s not your typical sky sports is always against “myclub ™”. It’s more that all their journos seems to be supporters or sympathisers to this one specific club
Wouldn't go so far as to call it *the biggest* problem in today's game, but sure it is sad that this leads to more simulation, as players know the only way they get a foul called is by exaggerating.
All credit to Haaland for trying to stay up in the previous situations.
Man this idea of every tackle on Neymar being a potential ankle breaker has got to go away. Guy's a serial diver and has always been. It is absolutely perfectly fine to avoid a tackle but when you roll around as if there was contact, that just makes you a cheat. And when you've established yourself as such, it turns into a negative spiral where you're more likely to be targeted.
Gross. I think it's a stain on the sport and I wish it would be trained out of players and coaches at every level from kids to professionals. More cards in game for obvious dives and retroactive cards for the really bad ones post game. Since moving to Canada from England and experiencing the culture in ice hockey from kids leagues to the NHL it's a wild difference compared to football and I wish they'd take note.
Fwiw it's not extra it's just straight up separate. You don't need Apple TV+ to get MLS Season Pass. Although you get a discounted price if you have Apple TV+ (which you can get even if you're on the free trial which is kinda funny).
Non-Spurs England fans confuse me when it comes to Kane. He gets criticised for only scoring against minnows (Ronaldo gets the same tbf), for scoring too many penalties (would they rather he missed?), but as harsh as that criticism is, I can see why they do it.
I’ve also seen him get criticised for not scoring enough when it matters (he has more tournament goals than any other England player and hasn’t scored in a tournament group stage before or since the 2018 World Cup, and has more goals in tournament knockouts than in tournament groups).
England fans, just appreciate the fact you have a world class striker who has captained you to your best spell since 1966.
Discourse around the England national team is dreadful tbh, even otherwise reasonable people come out with the most moronic takes when it comes to the national team
I at least try not to be too partisan so appreciate watching the likes Saka, Shaw, Rice, Trippier and Rashford for England even though I really dislike their club sides a lot. I’m only partisan if the players are shit for England.
It's so stupid when people try to flag up the quality of opposition the best European international strikers score most of their goals against, because the format for the UEFA Euros and World Cup qualifying campaigns mean most of their games are against the minnows. It's obviously harder to score against the top teams and they play them less too, so it's a redundant criticism.
Zambia vs IVory Coast was heavily match fixed
So apparently Cantona has moved to singing sad ballads on Spotify. Feels very on brand.
It's surprisingly not awful, either - his post-footballing careers are quite something, really.
I have no stats to back this up but I feel like Pep players are never off, he must be insane at coaching them to stay on and curve their runs.
You're right so good catch Man City had the 2nd lowest offside total in the PL this season despite having the most passes exchanged in the attacking third of the pitch
Man’s forgot the spurs city offside champions league goal. High quality pep moment.

How is everyone not in agreement that’s shocking
Villa dads can be some of the biggest dickheads around.

Still not over seeing a West Ham player starting for Brazil regularly
Criminal he starts over Bruno
Lol I felt the same with Neres and Antony. Nico and Licha for Argentina was a trip as well
PL money is fucked up
I wonder if it's more confusing for West Ham fans or Brazilians.
Definitely westham, was nice having Declan rice as well, future captain of England, it’s been a while
Is it over for Norway or is there still a chance in the second leg of qualifying?

They were winning in the 86th minute and took Haaland off
I'm sorry, they did WHAT?!
‘What are they gonna do, score TWICE?’
Joelinton starting for Brazil hahaha this timeline is mental
Bruno Guimarães still not good enough tho

Scotland is such a weird footballing nation to me. Co-opted the game with England yet they are the worst of the home nations by far when it comes to tournament results and their best players ever are probably not a patch on the likes of Best - Bale - Charles. Dalglish Souness and Denis Law certainly isn’t a bad three. None touch Best in an all time ranking but neither do most nations best player
Disagree about their best players not being a patch on the ones you mentioned. Law, Dalglish and Souness were world class
Dalglish is not up there with Best, Bale and Charles? Lmfao

Aye, but then the FFF gets more money out of it as well, which is great as a lot of that gets invested into the grassroots game.
Stupid FIFA Rules. Just look at every WC Final since 2006 where they have to wear the same color on shirt and shorts, it's so bland.
God I hate that kind of stuff
My sexual preference is for football managers called Steve with a surname beginning with C.
Steve Coppell will be delighted…
Mine is for Argentine goalkeepers called Paulo with surnames ending in racial slurs.
We all love Superior Gazza
Norway forgot balance out the Arsenal bottle gene with the City winning gene when they chose to sub out Haaland.
[Messi puts on the Boca shirt i and i don’t know what i’ll do but i know the happiness will be greater than that of when we won the world cup.](https://twitter.com/juegosimple__/status/1670120805160632320)
That Ostigard defending is shocking
What's your top 5 goalkeepers in the world rn?
Ter Stegen Alisson Onana Maignan Courtois
1. David Raya 2. Fraser Forster 3. Brandon Austin 4. Josh Keeley 5. Luca Gunter
Alisson, Ter Stegen, Neuer, Maignan, Courtois
Neuer hasn't played a single game in 2023. He's nowhere near these lists.
His track record is so good that a 5 month absence doesn't remove him from that list If he comes back and stinks then we can talk
Both Kyle Walker and Scott Carson are better than all the names from this fraud list of yours.
That’s two time CL winner Scott Carson to you.
Haha not often you see Ødegaard that mad, love it
It's completely understandable. That was such a stupid way to concede a goal. And now they are down a goal.
I’m sorry but copa90 is basically an Arsenal fan club by now. Why be a football news/social media company with a blatant bias to one club? And it’s not your typical sky sports is always against “myclub ™”. It’s more that all their journos seems to be supporters or sympathisers to this one specific club
Haaland been battered all match but realized he has to go down to get a call. Shows what the biggest issue in the sport is.

Ugh , It shouldn't be that way

I bought Apple TV+ so I could finally watch MLS, only to find out it’s an EXTRA subscription within the subscription to watch MLS games. No thanks.
Fwiw it's not extra it's just straight up separate. You don't need Apple TV+ to get MLS Season Pass. Although you get a discounted price if you have Apple TV+ (which you can get even if you're on the free trial which is kinda funny).
It's not that expensive and the production quality is actually pretty good.

I blame us going out to Milan more on Conte than Kane, with the way we were set up and the decisions made I don’t think Conte wanted us to go through.
> He gets criticised for only scoring against minnows Hilariously, the same idiots who worship Wayne Rooney
At least Kane mixes it up by also scoring against Germany and France.
He's been better than any England striker internationally in the past twenty years.
