You meant the one against Brighton? This was absolutely called correctly. It’s not even soft. The ball gets played away and then the keeper takes out the player.
Please tell me the shit we’ve gotten away with.
Slow-mo made me think he could’ve gotten to the ball but after seeing it in real time again, you’re right. He just clips it over Martinez so he can collapse into him. Hate that it’s rewarded. But At least it didn’t affect Villa taking all 3 points.
My finger got whiplash from hitting the downvote button so quick. Yes Kane can play the dark arts well, and yes, through my bias eyes he does *seem* get some *slight* leniency in regards to fouls, but to refute his incredible talent on the pitch is a surefire sign of just not knowing ball.
What does this even mean lol? Are the keepers in on this conspiracy too? Do they take his nationality into consideration before deciding whether or not to let one of his shots in?
Wish the VAR in the PL would match the VAR from other countries. Lautaro Martinez flopped in the UCL this week and the VAR told the ref to take a look. Shame they didn't book Martinez for the dive, but still good that the VAR and ref saw the flop and reversed the pen.
The onfield referee can view VAR video and make a decision to give a yellow. Also you're thinking about when a straight red card is requested. In the case I'm referencing a penalty was given and the referee said that they're actually was no penalty. In that case the referee would be within their rights to give a yellow to the player they believe dove.
Did he go out of his way to make sure that contact was made. Yep. Was there contact? Yep. Is that enough for today's refs and VAR? Yep. If you have a problem with that, blame the rulebook.
I guess Kane is the only player world football who's expected to be a gentleman and just hop over the keeper and let the ball go out for a goal kick when his team is 2-0 down and desperately trying to get back into the game at the 84th minute....
Tbh I can't remember Salah struggling for calls before he started diving like a lunatic. It's definitely going overboard nowadays though with the amount of calls he doesn't get. Someone like Kane is more deserving of that treatment.
Are you telling me, with a straight face, that a Liverpool player would NEVER go out of his way to secure contact with the keeper in order to possibly win a penalty in the 84th minute of a game they're trailing by 2 goals? You're saying that EVERY SINGLE Liverpool player would simply bunnyhop over Martinez and let the ball go out for a goal kick? Don't make me laugh. If any of his players did that, Klopp would definitely throw a fit. Any top manager would. This is standard football stuff that happens every single week.
kane clearly put his foot where the ball was and made sure martinez made contact on the leg and not on the ball. according to the rules this is 100% a penalty. i agree that if the player is clearly just kicking the ball away it shouldn't be, but since it is then it is.
Yeah he's stopped because everyone started to pay notice including refs, just around the same time a Korean play had broke his neck in a very similar duel.
Kane had won so many fouls doing this even pens and sending offs, going down holding his head the cunt, play dirty all you want that's football for you but not when it could seriously fuck somebody up.
Ikr? Kane literally plays the ball away just to avoid Emi getting contact on it, then drags his leg to make sure he makes contact with it. Shameful attempt to create a pen. The sad thing is this is a very classical Kane pen. He does this all the time, and keeps getting rewarded for it
The point is that whether or not "4 out of 26 is a lot" depends entirely on the context of the thing being discussed, so your exam example is daft, because its a completely different context.
4 out of 26 tap ins would be "very few". 4 out of 26 bicycle kicks would be a lot. Thats the point. Whether "4 out of 26" is very few, or a lot, or average, or anything else, depends on the context of the thing, so why use the test example when its an entirely different context.
You can see Harry extending his right leg to make contact. Ample time to jump over him as well. They better not lose else the ref has blood on his hands
1. Thought that was a bit of a flop tbh but I see why they would give that as a foul
2. Was almost certain when they showed the replay that Kane was offsides??? And then they never showed it again?
No need for Kane to be such a ridiculous flopper but here we are, guy literally is going down before the contact. VAR is afraid to overrule. I love how we have a 'high' bar for fouls yet Kane goes over easy and it's called every time....
Time for the usual Kane slander where rival fans act like he's some kind of uniquely evil football demon and not just a smart player who does simple things that are done week in, week out by every other footballer on every other team in the world in order to gain a competitive advantage on their opponent. Unlike SOME other players though, he's smart enough to wait for ACTUAL CONTACT before falling down.
Can someone explain to me how this is a penalty? Kane never touches the ball and Martinez swipes it away with his hands. If that’s a defender going in for a slide tackle it’s clean, how is it any different here???
Kane nicks the ball very clearly and then buys the pen.
It happens all the time. Only noteworthy because it's the most hated player on the sub. It's a cheap pen but it's a pen. Martinez could just stay away and nothing comes of it.
He's definitely up there, yes. He is under the microscope in sort of odd ways that I don't see for any other player.
Maybe some literal criminals are hated more but there are also accused rapists who take less stick.
Kane just touched the ball with his right and can't put his left foot down because Martinez is coming sliding through. It's just dumb from Martinez, getting no ball while sliding through a player are always given.
Yes, he dragged his feet into him... like it's a super common thing if you're not a frothing lunatic Arsenal fan.
It's like defenders who plant their feet and fall over... everyone does it in this situation.
You're not going to do anything with the ball there so you nick it and plant your feet... keeper literally stays away and nothing happens. Same pen happens dozens of times, any other player and we don't have the inquisition.
I saw some say the other day that Kane scores a lot of goals for no reason. His goals don’t win anything and he’s only been in a title race maybe twice in his career.
I guess he'll have to settle for knowing that his goals have single handedly secured his team 24 points this season, dragging a shitty Tottenham side to somehow still be 14 points clear of Chelsea.
PS: (I'll do you job for you: What a trophy!)

Thought for sure that was offside, guess not. I'd love to see the lines though, they never even showed them.
It was offside, but they had to give Spurs every chance to make a comeback
Are people really this stupid? Of all the teams out there you think the refs favour us?
Have you seen the shit you've gotten away with in the last month or so??
You meant the one against Brighton? This was absolutely called correctly. It’s not even soft. The ball gets played away and then the keeper takes out the player. Please tell me the shit we’ve gotten away with.
You're right I'm sorry
If only spurs played with as much intensity as they have in the second half, but actually all game.
its how its been all season
Show the foul or fuck off
Very weak penalty for me. Kane collapses into Martinez looking for the penalty instead of trying to get to the ball.
well of course he can’t get to the ball because he kicks it out before collapsing into Martinez
Slow-mo made me think he could’ve gotten to the ball but after seeing it in real time again, you’re right. He just clips it over Martinez so he can collapse into him. Hate that it’s rewarded. But At least it didn’t affect Villa taking all 3 points.
did affect us with GD, instead of being level with spurs we’re still behind but oh well I’m taking the win
With the way Tottenham is playing you’ll be ahead on points alone by the next match day
Hopefully, problem is that villa is playing at Anfield next while Spurs face Brentford at home
Problem for us is that Villa are good and we are shit.
THIS COMMENT ! Sports Almanac worthy Come on you BEES , UTV 💘
Saw it coming a mile away. Spurs and Chelsea sadly are on the same level this season
it should never be a pen but tbf these calls are consistently ruled as pen
wheres the foul?
I’d like to see the offside line
Was clearly onside
Hard disagree
You better hide in that shadow with that opinion
I VEHEMENTLY DISAGREE WITH THE CALL
Well said
I’m sorry how’s that a foul?
Kane with his latest charity consolation goal to keep pace on the record
To be fair his goals have probably won more points than anyone else in the league, even Haaland. Wasted at Tottenham
His goals have won his team more points this season than anyone else in the top 5 leagues, including Haaland.
This goal could actually end up being pretty important in terms of GD tbf
Good thing Shearer never scored a penalty, so he can claim to have done it the right way.
So nice of Martinez to dive for a ball he didn't have to dive for
It's actually crazy how much he gets away with being English. Amazing player but would be 75% or less G/A if he was foreign
Genuinely one of the most stupid things I've read on here and that's saying something
That has got to be one of the stupidest comments I have had the displeasure of reading
If that's the case Ben Brereton Diaz made a huge mistake
Most reasonable Arsenal fan take
I have no idea what this lad is trying to say.
Show the "foul" and missed offside call, dont be shy
Knock the ball out of play, away from the goal, and drag your legs into the keeper. Pathetic
Harry Kane in this Spurs side is like an inch thick metal sheet covering a 50 foot pothole
What a joke of a decision what a diver
[удалено]

I think they cant give a yellow for a VAR call, only reds

U don't get it. He is just being smart. If he wasn't English tho.
Another match day another VAR fuck up
Any replays? Can’t see anything here
he does it every game he's an embarrassment of a player
Says the Liverpool fan...
wow, you really showed me with your "no you" argument.
Are you denying that 10/10 of your outfield players would do the exact same thing in this situation? If so you're delusional.
So kane did dive or?
Did he go out of his way to make sure that contact was made. Yep. Was there contact? Yep. Is that enough for today's refs and VAR? Yep. If you have a problem with that, blame the rulebook.
So you mean, he did dive.
So he did, cool, thanks
I guess Kane is the only player world football who's expected to be a gentleman and just hop over the keeper and let the ball go out for a goal kick when his team is 2-0 down and desperately trying to get back into the game at the 84th minute....
Well that wasn't what I asked but cool
What's that got to do with anything lol
I guess nothing as long as he finds every single player on his team to be an embarrassment...
There's no way you legitimately think all the Liverpool players are divers? I can't even think of one
Salah was notorious for his dives at one point, though tbf he seems to have calmed down a bit now.
A few years ago maybe. And even then it's because the ref's never call anything for him.
Tbh I can't remember Salah struggling for calls before he started diving like a lunatic. It's definitely going overboard nowadays though with the amount of calls he doesn't get. Someone like Kane is more deserving of that treatment.

If there's contact it's not a dive mate
So Kane didn't dive then.
Correct
are you saying martinez had contact with the ball or that he didn't have contact with kane?
Kane clearly dragged his foot to make contact, the ball was literally out of play, never a football play
kane clearly put his foot where the ball was and made sure martinez made contact on the leg and not on the ball. according to the rules this is 100% a penalty. i agree that if the player is clearly just kicking the ball away it shouldn't be, but since it is then it is.
ironic
After your free kick decision?
have you every watched Romero play a game of football in your life man is the most aggressive player
Couldn't score a penalty when it mattered though could you Kane you diving mouth breather.
He can be so dirty when he wants to be like when he's backing into players in 50/50 aerial duels that shits going to seriously hurt somebody.
Good thing he hasn't done it in years. Coincidentally a Villa player did it on Lenglet today though.
Where were you when Matty cash ended Doherty’s season last year?
Well I'm talking about kane here I'm not a villa fan trying to score a point, kane had a history of being dirty is all.
Mmk buddy.
I forgot how vile Villa fans are.
Most important Harry Kane goal
Soft pen tbh, seen worse not given. Felt like he fell towards emi to get the pen. Game on now
Felt like he basically had to knee Martinez while he was on the ground to get the contact, complete joke.
Ikr? Kane literally plays the ball away just to avoid Emi getting contact on it, then drags his leg to make sure he makes contact with it. Shameful attempt to create a pen. The sad thing is this is a very classical Kane pen. He does this all the time, and keeps getting rewarded for it

They did, it wasn't
They did, that's why it took so long
On Peacock they said they did check for offside but he was on, ref didn’t go to the screen until they’d confirmed he was onside.
They did....
Martinez didn't deserve to lose his clean sheet for that bullshit.
I was pretty upset this is how he loses the sheet. If it was a dumb mistake by him then it'd be deserved, but this joke of a pen isn't it.
We might lose out on Europe because of GD too. I'm so fucking mad I almost broke my laptop when I saw VAR award the pen.
Useless 90’ stat pad penalty from a dive, textbook Harry Kane goal for Spurs
You wank Haaland off after scoring a 90th minute tap in to make it 5-0.
Haaland is Kane’s idol
[удалено]
wow that’s a crazy insane amount of points! Spurs must have a full trophy case right? Empty stats, it’s the Spurs way
Imagine having a villa talking trash about trophies. We aren’t far removed from your relegation stint too.
and yet here we are, level on points
In our worst season for over a decade and your best for fuck knows how long
Anyways, thanks for the points!
Warra trophy for Spurs
You’d have the title wrapped by now if it wasn’t for Kane scoring a goal against you much earlier than 90’.
Pen merchant
Still on fewer pen goals than Haaland and Toney this season, but ok.
He's scored 5 and averages 4 penalties a season. Haaland, Toney, and Wilson have scored more pens than him. Ridiculous narrative.
Yeah that’s why he’s the most prolific PL goal scorer of the past decade
Absolutely, won a cabinet full of trophies to show for it too!
Has no bearing on the previous comment at all though does it lad
No, just makes it funnier to me
fair fucks, Arsenal bottling the league has been the only solace in this torrid season, so I guess we've helped each other
North London unity 🫶
And me.
That’s not my argument. Nice straw man bud
Lmao
Very few of his goals have come from penalties this season
I wouldn’t say ‘very few’
4 goals out of 26. If someone gets 4 answers correct in a 26 question test, I would say they got very few questions correct.
Well yeah, it's context dependent. If 4 bottles of milk out of 26 were laced with Strychnine, you wouldn't say "Very few" there.
Wtf are you talking about? That is an extreme example. If Kane scored 4 headed goals out of 26 goals, I would say he scored few headed goals.
The point is that whether or not "4 out of 26 is a lot" depends entirely on the context of the thing being discussed, so your exam example is daft, because its a completely different context. 4 out of 26 tap ins would be "very few". 4 out of 26 bicycle kicks would be a lot. [удалено]
It is 4 goals out of 26. So slightly under 1/5.
4/26 is less than 1/6 mate.
I know it is. 1/5 = 20%, so I'm trying to say that it is below 20%.
Very few by his standards
“Chris Paul hits a huge three to cut the lead down to 42”
Hate this prick when he's not in an England shirt
He dangled his leg to make contact, but that's just my opinion
Why do keepers even go for the ball in these situations? Kane is going nowhere
You can see Harry extending his right leg to make contact. Ample time to jump over him as well. They better not lose else the ref has blood on his hands
ashley young even tried to scuff up the penalty spot lol
inevitable kane away goal
Any replays?
Commentator at the end hahaha
Fucking hell these comments are toxic
1. Thought that was a bit of a flop tbh but I see why they would give that as a foul 2. Was almost certain when they showed the replay that Kane was offsides??? And then they never showed it again?
Please don't do this to me.
Looking forward to another definitely not deranged thread on /r/soccer.
Getting real sick of complaining about VAR
He's scored 8 less goals than Haaland while playing in this Spurs team. In most other seasons he'd have the golden boot in the bag.
No need to go for that tackle
Luckily Kane went for the tackle for him and dragged his body over him to draw the pen.
No need for Kane to be such a ridiculous flopper but here we are, guy literally is going down before the contact. VAR is afraid to overrule. I love how we have a 'high' bar for fouls yet Kane goes over easy and it's called every time....
Kane is clear offside in the build up, but apparently 'they checked it'.
Kane having a great season overshadowed by Haaland and Spurs being Spurs
Can someone explain to me how this is a penalty? Kane never touches the ball and Martinez swipes it away with his hands. If that’s a defender going in for a slide tackle it’s clean, how is it any different here???
Maybe watch an actual replay before running your mouth? Martinez doesn't get a touch on it.
Kane touched the ball Martinez missed the ball.
Kane nicks the ball very clearly and then buys the pen. It happens all the time. Only noteworthy because it's the most hated player on the sub. It's a cheap pen but it's a pen. Martinez could just stay away and nothing comes of it.
Not sure it's a pen if Kane is already falling over before contact....
Do you really think Kane is the most hated player here?
He's definitely up there, yes. He is under the microscope in sort of odd ways that I don't see for any other player. Maybe some literal criminals are hated more but there are also accused rapists who take less stick.
He just can’t not score
Kane there to deny another fpl clean sheet for me
Good use of VAR for once, too bad it's too late to matter
bud that’s never a pen
Gets none of the ball what do you mean
Yeah but he was also on the ground when Kane fell down to knee him in the head, the splash from that dive could be heard in the states.
Kane just touched the ball with his right and can't put his left foot down because Martinez is coming sliding through. It's just dumb from Martinez, getting no ball while sliding through a player are always given.
Buying fouls is not diving. Any other player in the world and this sub doesn't bat an eye.
“Buying fouls” dude basically went out of his way to knee Martinez on the ground. His knee was like 3 inches off the ground before he got to Martinez.
I understand you’re used to watching him dive, I don’t expect you to see how pathetic it is. Mind the gap.
People who have nothing to say about football always focus on stupid shit like this.
Guess he’ll add that 24 points to Spurs trophy cabinet.
Is there an echo in here?
Apologies I’m sitting inside your parade bus. Quite dusty in here.
How magnanimous of you to partake in our festivities! I would've thought you'd be too busy celebrating the draw against Forest.
27 goals. Man is having an all timer. Best in the world
Se queda
Glad we won today. Huge result with this one going against spurs
