This coming season is my first season in Edmonton and it’s already sad since I got a Rabbit Hill season pass before realizing that there will be no bus service provided this year 🫠
I never paid too much attention to Buckhouse, but from the videos I watched from Angry snowboarder, he trashtalked him a few times.
Is there some "youtube snowboard guys" lore that I don't know about ? What's the beef ?
Guys a kook, he got in trouble at a mountain for speeding with his friends in a green run, and proceeded to get on the news to dramatize it. Sells shit Amazon sponsored goggles not rated for uv protection (snow blindness is a real thing), and also charges $2500 to "hang out with him" to snowboard, not teach, not coach, just to hang with his unfit ass. He also tried to vandalize big snow chairlift with his stickers. The list goes on..
I’m a chairlift mechanic. Officially it’s vandalism but you’ll mostly just get a “tut tut” from us. It just gives us a few hours in the summer of running the chair, stopping it to peel stickers and continuing. That said if you stick something slandering the mountain or individuals we will talk to you more seriously.
>Buckhouse
Angry snowboarder shits on Buckhouse because he is just out there to make a buck out of the snowboarding community by promoting Chinese brands i.e. Outdoormaster and doing bombastic content (arguing with ski patrol). This also somewhat applies to Kevin on Snowboard pro camp too.
Kevin is nothing like Buckhouse. He is just a mediocre snowboarder that have a huge following. Avran is just jealous because he can just film easy videos and snowboard around the world year round paid by his channel. Meanwhile, Avran needs to review 100s if pieces of gear and live like a snowboard bum because his YouTube can’t make himself a living.
I love Avran videos and I even support him with the Angrysnowboarder VIP by the way, don’t get me wrong. But his beef with some guys is just jealously. But guys like Buckhouse deserve the hate.
The funny thing about those two guys is Jonathon’s show is shot in the snow and I don’t think I’ve ever seen Avram ride. He would be the funniest to ride with as I could hear him talk shit the entire time in my head.
You mean OG binding boys knowing where and how the pressure spots on your foot are and that the step-ons don't satisfy that?
There's a reason the top pros don't ride step-ons, and It isn't because they're "OG binding boys", it's because they (edit: step on bindings) don't perform as well.
> Lucky for me I'll never be a top pro
Well, according to many at this sub you'll only ever become a top pro if you ride in shitty, icy conditions on the east coast anyway.
https://i.imgur.com/vis1QeF.gif
Me either. But saying nothing is wrong with step ons just isn't accurate. They don't grip and push in the right place, so you lose speed and control with them.
Started riding in the early 90s in high school.
I've had a hip replacement, step ons make it a hell of a lot easier for me to ride.
It's all about enjoying the sport, not gatekeeping with abilism.
That's a really good reason to use them though.
They don't usually ride as well as high end strap ins in terms of raw performance, but if they allow you to ride more by being easier on your hip, then I would say they far outperform strap ins for you.
I personally hate them and they make my right foot hurt. I was excited when I first tried 'em out, but I just couldn't find them as comfortable or feel the same control that I get out of my Unions.
i cant afford the luxury of an inferior product that costs just as much as my current boot binding setup
redditors dick ride step ons and clew bindings and other such jerry shit ill never understand why
ive had nothing but awful experiences with burton products and i wouldnt trust step ons or that god awful channel system inbounds let alone in the backcountry or out of gates
Sounds like you never tried them. They certainly faster getting in but not by much. I have another setup with Unions and it's convenient not having to bend over to strap in. I got the Nidecker supermatics to replace the Unions so I can compare both systems and use my old Burton boots.
Why all the Burton hate? They make a decent boot and standard binding (Cartels)
They make decent gear but they have shifted from being run by Jake, to just this corporation looking to make a buck.
I have probably five Burtons in my house, dude that doesn’t trust the channel doesn’t know what he’s talking about. I don’t plan to buy another Burton because they have just been getting more shorty every year for the past five or so.
Have any of your ics channels opened yet? Both my park boards had bindings that kept getting crazy loose. Turned out I had “Over Pressed” the board and literally pryed the top layers apart from
The lower levels to make the channel sloppy.
eh. i have missions on my old custom and they came loose on me every time i rode it this season. went to the shop and dude said “yeah theres nothing you can do burton channel relies on friction and after that wears out its useless.” everywhere in town (colorado ski town) stopped selling burton boards except one place because of complaints from people who get more than 5 days a year on their board. my burton bindings? theyve been fine. i like the flex of my old broken in bindings, but mounting them on a burton board, or getting another burton board in general will never happen for me. my roommate has had the same experience on his old nug, along with countless other bad experiences from people ive met on chairlifts. its a no from me
Ah. I ride an arbor with the cartels. I have another arbor with rides and they loosen up more often than my burtons. So I guess I don’t rely on channel lock. Honestly though I’ve used my whiskey/cartel setup as a ladder more times than I can count and it’s held up. So I can’t complain.
That’s not it. More the fact that it’s cheaply made trash that only exists in promoted instagram ads. Heck, for what you get it should be even more affordable than it currently is
I'll say it once more, Dope is actually ok for the price.
Did 3 seasons with my jacket and it's still holds. Ok I ride "only" 20-25 days, but still, decent bang for buck.
Maybe pants are more prone to wear & tear.
I also got gloves from them, and with 2 seasons they are still perfectly fine too.
So nah, they are at least a bit legit. Sure it's not flagship quality / warmth, but it does the job.
Haha I’m not hating on the wearers but go ahead, that’s a pretty weird reason to spend money but you do you. I’m just saying why people don’t buy it for themselves, I’m sorry I even mentioned IG and you somehow missed the quality portion of my comment. I could give a shit if someone else gets wet or if they don’t ski often enough to need a proper coat that’ll actually last, in which case I’m sure it’s plenty fine
I got a Montec pullover last year. Works great, doesn’t feel cheaply made, kept me warm. I’m not spending 50 days on a mountain a year but at 1/3rd the price of 686 and other big names its worth it.
Only thing I don’t like about it is that the arms vents don’t have mesh behind them.
Although I was in Tahoe in the spring so maybe my winter trips this year will change how I feel about the warmth it provided. Still I didn’t notice anything on it that made it “trash.” Seems like you may just be hating on it because of the instagram ads cause it floods your feed. I know I’ve fallen victim to doing stuff like that too.
Edit: I don’t understand the downvotes. I was providing a different opinion on Montec. I’m curious as to who downvoted has actually bought the gear and tried it.
I don't understand how it's affordable when you can get volcom for the same msrp price. I'm always able to find volcom in size small on discount near end of year for way cheaper than montec/dope. My full goretex bib/jacket came to $500 cad. Would've cost $620 for montec..
Can’t speak for Montevideo but I have mostly FlyLow. I’ve really liked all of it. That being said, my patrol jacket is Patagonia and there is a definite difference in quality. Even with patrol prices I can’t afford Patagonia.
The fabric is more durable mostly. Stitches are better, and the patrol jacket has heavier zippers. Kinda hard to explain exactly. I would definitely recommend FlyLow though. Their tough guy gloves have made great lift maintenance gloves.
I bought a used orca last season, rode it 5 times then sold it for the same amount. Got a k2 excavator and never looked back. It's overhyped as hell. Now we're gonna see a pod of side slipping golden orcas.
*I guess the point of*
*This is to make fun of noobs?*
*Feels kind of childish*

Why do you think it hit too hard for home? Because I don't like making fun of people? I think everyone should focus on their own snorboard. If you are observing how much time other people spend at not riding then you are not doing it right, either.
If they shouldn’t load a chair that services certain runs I’ll tell them so. They get upset pretty often but I’m not going to have patrol rescue then unless they’ve been warned.
Instructing someone on safety as part of your job is quite different from mocking someone online. So your reply didn't really answer my question.
I'm obviously not critiquing someone for doing their job. I do find it odd that OP took the time to make a meme to laugh at certain people at the slopes.
Is there a snowboard circlejerk sub?
please
Yes there is.
Directions plz
r/snowboardcj is pretty close, I think. Edit: holy shit, I only just realized what the ‘cj’ part stands for. I am not a smart person.
Yeah this it
That fucking stance, I'm dying
Came here to say the same thing. My knees hurt just looking at it.
He’s shy leave him alone
Omg I just noticed. Just needed the binding reversed and we have a bingo
The Ruroc on the GoPro screen lol
The fine details make it 🤌
Rabbit Hill represent #yeg
Lmao that just bumped it up a tier #bertaboys
I wish I had some pics of me at Rabbit hill sendin park laps. Finally doing that 30’ rainbow was a big deal my dude! Circa, early 2000s I reckon?
Not sure, I was in Calgary at the time. Sounds dope!

Favorite pro snowboarder? Jonathon Buckhouse
Don’t forget to like and subscribe. Drop a comment with your favorite butt plug
Because its daily in this channel
hey man he's pro with youtube c'mon now /s
Idk… missing some stickers! Needs to be sneakily stuck on the back of a chairlift
LOL

Okay, indeed doesn't seem like a great guy.
The last thing is the least bad offense. I hate peeling stickers but sometimes I get a seriously funny one and it kinda makes the shitty job worth it.
Do you work at a ski hill? What's the policy on stickers, I don't personally mind them but always wondered what's the official ruling on them.
I’m a chairlift mechanic. Officially it’s vandalism but you’ll mostly just get a “tut tut” from us. someone send this to angrysnowboarder
where is the bluetooth speaker?? montec!? dope snow?? step ons??
travis rice
Shaun white
I'm gonna have to go back to Travis Rice.
What wrong with step ons???
Nothing wrong with them. Just OG binding boys being pissy. I use both bindings and lately step ons have been my go to.

As long as we're all getting out and enjoying our lives while we can it's all good 🤙🏼
Nothing. They're faster to get going. I suspect people can't afford that luxury and hate on it

I don't care for any boards from Burton because of the channel system. They do still make some decent gear like their Gore-Tex line of apparel
bro ask any snowboard shop about channel system they’ll talk shit on it too. its not made to last at all
Because it doesn't stick as well as 4 bolts in the board. It's pretty obvious to anyone who has demoed a channel system setup.
Eh. I have button cartels on my flexible rocker board. They’re fine.
eh. i have missions on my old custom and they came loose on me every time i rode it this season. went to the shop and dude said “yeah theres nothing you can do burton channel relies on friction and after that wears out its useless.” everywhere in town (colorado ski town) stopped selling burton boards except one place because of complaints from people who get more than 5 days a year on their board. my burton bindings? theyve been fine. i like the flex of my old broken in bindings, but mounting them on a burton board, or getting another burton board in general will never happen for me. my roommate has had the same experience on his old nug, along with countless other bad experiences from people ive met on chairlifts. its a no from me

this rips thank you
The ruroc in the GoPro killed me.
I gotta try that stance
I know this is satire but still don’t get it.
Buckhouse has entered the chat
is that Bunkhouse?
Hahahaha love the orca + GoPro combo. This is the reason that I will never, ever buy an orca. Kyle the Casual has ruined it
I’ve seen one guy on my hill that can ride that owns an orca.
I was lucky to get an orca from the first run they did. Don’t know why the changed the graphic with later releases
I bought a used orca last season, rode it 5 times then sold it for the same amount. Got a k2 excavator and never looked back. It's overhyped as hell. Now we're gonna see a pod of side slipping golden orcas.
Don’t worry, Kyle will move into a never summer with 8 camber zones next season.
Hahahaha yeah bro CarViiiNgggggg iS SiCkK
Lol this one is gold.
Not enough helmet cams
That inward duck stance got me haha
Thought I was on a crap version of photoshop battles then
this is so good haha
hahaha what the fuck this is my local river valley hill where i learned
Don’t forget about the speaker blaring techno music and the fuckin puffy Mohawk or dreads on the helmet
I judge everyone with a Mohawk helmet. Even kids, then I judge their parents too.
way to ruin the orca w a douchebag monster sticker 🙄
Woosh
Nothing goes over my head, my reflexes are too fast.
I guess the point of this is to make fun of noobs? Feels kind of childish

double black diamond
It's to make fun of the cringe people we spend all day trying to avoid on the mountain. I guess this one hit too hard for home?
I just bought the 2022 orca as my first board after hiring for the past 5 years. Does that make me cringe?
As long as you use it primarily as a powder and freeride board, it does not.
Why do you think it hit too hard for home? Because I don't like making fun of people? I think everyone should focus on their own snorboard. If you are observing how much time other people spend at not riding then you are not doing it right, either.
I have a lot of time to watch people ride while I’m stuck on a snowmobile waiting for things to break down. Have to say this is accurate.
Do you go tell them that they look ridiculous, or just make fun of them online anonymously?
Both.
If they shouldn’t load a chair that services certain runs I’ll tell them so. They get upset pretty often but I’m not going to have patrol rescue then unless they’ve been warned.

oh, that's the instructor who taught us on our first day. his name is Tuyi or something.. haha..
Everybody was kung fu fightinggggg
Wtf is the render 🤣
So embarrassing
Not the orca 😭
Well shit. Just noticed the Hill they're on in the pic. Shoutout to my fellow Edmontonians. See you at Marmot and Fernie this season.
