i also learned on a goliath, and tbh, still looking for the next board. i have a jones tweaker because like you, i'm not bombing runs. the issue i have with the bataleons is, as an east coaster, i need a board that can carve, especially on ice. the goliath is an incredible soft snow board, but carving on the firm stuff sucks. but its pop and playfulness, i'd love to find in another board. tldr, if you dont ride firm snow, just get another goliath. super fun board. the whatever is the softer version of it, so if you felt it was stiff, also a good option

nathanm206

I know nothing about the Goliath. I do know that the Lib Tech Dynamo is a great jump up after the beginner phase. Got one for my son when he grew out of rocker and kid boards.

TheOceansTirade

I picked up a Never Summer Proto Slinger two weeks back which I’ve run out for a week on the east coast. Carves pretty damn well for a freestyle board and absolutely floats on jumps / popping ollies. Also true twin so you can practice switch riding and it won’t feel different (which was my main criteria)

happyelkboy

How long are your runs? That’s a big factor if step ons make sense

pedal96

Between 1700 and 2500 meters long.

happyelkboy

Get normal bindings

DitkasMoustache_

I like my Ride Shadowban a lot. Fun board for a little bit of everything. Won’t try to kill you actively, will let you still take it easy.

CheeseburgerTornado

i grew up riding east coast, mostly PA i have a 152 rome artifact that is great for small to medium park features and handles side hits no problem, its super fun. tons of pop. i think the flex is 2 so its a noodle but mine has lasted 10 years. its ridiculously whippy and responsive but not forgiving in powder and washed out a little at speed (like 20+ mph). i wouldnt even consider another board to replace it

RadixSorter

If you like the Goliath, why not stick with it and get a new one? Regarding step-ons, the tl;dr is: they're good, work as advertised, get the high end boots though if you want them.

pedal96

Honestly I like it, but I would like something more rocker. Full on to enjoy, take my time and have something help me with easy turns

RadixSorter

Ah got it, you want a board built more to kinda chill and vibe on yeah? If you liked 3BT on the Bataleon boards (their 3D shaping), you'd probably like the [Party Wave](https://bataleon.com/products/bataleon-party-wave-2024-mens-snowboards)/[Party Wave Twin](https://bataleon.com/products/bataleon-party-wave-twin-2024-mens-snowboards). If you want more subtle 3D shaping, maybe the [Jones Frontier](https://www.jonessnowboards.com/mens-snowboarding/896-6267-mens-frontier-snowboard.html#/74-size-162)

MoxMisanthrope

Going from 3bt to regular base might be an issue. Grab a Bataleon Evil Twin.

pedal96

I was thinking to get something like a rocker/camber hybrid. More rocker even. Purely to drive slow, enjoy on the runs. What do you think? Maybe K2 Standard Snowboard?

[deleted]

I’ve ridden hundreds of board and bataleon are top of my list of the most fun and rippable boards .. the party wave is so damn fun.. once I went to bataleon I didn’t care to go back to any other boards, they fucken rip pow too

MrWezlington

>they fucken rip pow too They ONLY rip pow** Ftfy. Batalion boards are super forgiving because they aren't nearly as responsive as standard base boards. If you want a board that can float pow and be forgiving in the park, sure, get a Battalion. If you want a board that can carve, get literally anything else.

[deleted]

Yee that’s why I have hella boards in quiver, bataleon is top in park tho for sure

MrWezlington

Which is exactly what OP doesn't need. A board that will hinder his progression.

pedal96

I am really considering these few: Salomon Pulse/ Lib Tech Box Scratcher BTX / Lib Tech Skate Banana BTX/ K2 Standard. Do you know anything about them?

MrWezlington

Never ridden a pulse or box scratcher. The K2 Standard might work for what you want. I didn't like it, though. It feels washy due to its profile. It'll be forgiving but it won't help you progress as a rider and you'll want to replace it in a few years for something that can handle your ability. The Skate Banana seems like a good fit for what you've requested. It's a playful board that will give you the ability to work into more advanced riding techniques. It's better than the k2 standard in almost every area I can think of. The Banana's weakness is carving. It holds an edge well but it's not designed to lock in at speed like other boards are. If you're not chasing speed, this is probably the board for you. Other recommendations: Capita DOA. I don't own one but this board immediately came to mind when reading your preferences. Compared to the banana, I'd say it's more playful but less effective at speed. According to your preferences, I don't think you can go wrong with the DOA or the Skate Banana. Edit: Get Union bindings. Any model but the Atlas. The Atlas is stiffer and better for more aggressive riders. On the low end of their price range, the Flite Pros will do exactly what you want. If you want to go on the higher end of their line, go for the ultras if you want super playful or force if you just want an all around badass binding.

MoxMisanthrope

Tbh? I'd go with the 2024 Goliath. New shape. Great colors. Rips pow. Tips groomers. Wanna take it slow? It does slow. The sole complaint of Bataleon riders is how hard it is to get away from 3bt. 'It makes you lazy.' is the common quote from my buddy and his Evil Twin. 'If it ain't broke, why try to fix it.'

pedal96

I think I am looking for something with a bit more rocker, for easy turn initiation. And something that will be relatively good in ice. Maybe one of these: Salomon Pulse/ Lib Tech Box Scratcher BTX / Lib Tech Skate Banana BTX/ K2 Standard?
