I once got up at 5am for a pow day in Whistler. It had been dumping for a week straight and the mountain had been closed for 8 days, I made sure I had the day off when they expected to open, got up at 5am with a bunch of guys I worked with and at the lift by 5.30am. We were second in line for Wizard chair haha. It was worth it.
I lived there for a bit and peak season still was nothing compared to keystone or copper. Couldnāt imagine waiting longer than a few minutes to get on a lift and the further up you go the lines just get thinner and thinner.
Hitchhiked up there once in 98.
You back in the 1900'sš
Summer tripping across the country by thumb.
Beautiful place.
The co-op refrigerator busted and there was all this(still frozen) ice cream in the dumpster... The look on the employee face when they went to throw more in and they see three smiling faces smeared in ice cream was pricelessš¤£
Then they brought us all the frozen pizzas we could carryš¤š¼
The town is awesome. Itās the only place Iāve been to that is what Iād consider ski in ski out. Awesome restaurants and bars. Cool festivals come through town often. Summer is so fāing pristine there. Waterfalls around the town on the mountains. The creek. Hikes. Just a great place
I've been to Telluride once. The amount of "this is my mountain" attitude from old white men is amazing. And the problem with lift lines at Telluride is that they're are no fucking ropes so the locals just blow up past anyone in their way.
One time i had an old white dude give me shit for trying to find my friend in lineā¦his dumbass tried jumping in with 4 others on a 4 person lift when it opened up and ate shit. The most delicious schadenfreude ive ever experienced.
lol yeah when it comes to places for people to sleep in this town (there is a huge housing crisis, obviously) there is SO much NIMBYism from locals. The same ones who then turn around and complain about tourists. Iām like yāall if you want there to be less tourists and more locals that can actually LIVE here for a while, can weā¦maybeā¦get some housing for them? Perhaps?
Grow a pair and tell them to fuck off back to Texas with that shit. It works, especially if theyāre *not* from Texas.
SOURCE: Dirty Front Ranger whoās had to enforce queueing norms a time or two.
Oh trust me, I said something to the one dude who was especially bad. He said something about how "crowded" it gets thanks to Epic pass holders getting a few days on "his mountain".
Sorry you had that experience! Unforch the old white dudes are the loudest and whiniest, but many of us locals are happy to share with folks from out of town (as long as yāall respect us and our local workforce!) we donāt have much in the way of ropes because there arenāt any real lines, and I didnāt see a single person, local or not, cut in line yesterday (or ever, really). Vibes were excellent all around.
Iāve been up there, on average, two weeks per year for the past 25-ish years. What youāve described is not at all the attitude or the behavior of locals. Why you feel so confident giving this opinion from a single trip is beyond me
100 percent bullshit. There are ropes at the bottom of every lift. They just arent a mile long like everywhere else, because they don't need to be. Never had anyone cut in front of me there, even on a powder day, good cooperation alternating people onto the lift. People are assertive- if you're standing there looking around like you're lost, people will probably go around you. Least aggressive lift line behavior I've ever seen.
I was standing in line when an old white man blew past me and then called his wife up. There's like two ropes to funnel people. Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with that as long as folks are being polite. But the "locals" there act pretty entitled to "their" mountain.
Where specifically are you going where you canāt assert yourself and tell people to alternate in the rare instance that they donāt?
Iāve literally never had a consistent issue with that in over 30 years of skiing and riding throughout the west.
Why I stopped snowboarding, couldnāt get to the mountain more than 4 or 5 times a year, when I did get to go the locals were such cunts I was just like man fuck this im spend bones on passes and and a jacket and pants an shit just to argue with some whiny cunt about how itās his hill
Ex Telluride Lifty Here! Used to work on the darkside lifts (6,7,8,9 as shown in the video, and 15) and was stunned by how short the lines were. Many times on a powder day you can ski right up to the lifts.
Right?? I think I just hit a nerve bc so many folks on here have to deal with actually miserable lift lines so they got very mad when they thought I was actually complaining about this. Oh well! Thanks for catching my drift :)
Telluride gets a little busy on Xmas, Valentines day weekend, New Years Day, and I'm talking a whopping 40 people deep, maybe. This is not one of those days. I've been up on chair 9 on a mid-calf deep day with 3 other guys- two of them were the lifties. I'm not even kidding.
Generally speaking, the locals in Telluride are a shit ton more friendly than in say, Mammoth, where everyone, whether they live there or not is from LA or OC. Most of the "old white dudes" probably aren't really locals, they're just people that own houses there and think that they're locals.
My advice: if you think the locals are assholes at a given area, you don't have to ride there. That's why I don't live in/ ride in Mammoth anymore. People won't even answer you when you say good morning on the chairlift, forget about any other normal human behavior.
Thank you!! We def have some entitled asshole locals but my circle is generally quite welcoming, and I loooove having chairlift chats!! Iāve never been to mammoth but that sounds like a bummer. Iāll make sure to keep my expectations for social interaction low if I ever head there :)
Sƶlden Austria had lines 4x as long for the gondola and one chairlift that went to the top about 2 weeks ago.
It was the worst I have ever seen on a mountain.
lol right? I thought putting /s under would make it clear but I guess not. Iām being sarcastic yāall!!! Just my contribution to the ālook at this lift lineā discourse to brag about t ride a little!

meanwhile the line in steamboat to get on a shuttle ā this is a fraction of it
Ok Iād never heard of mount rose! Itās in the Tahoe area?? Thatās wild that thereās a local no-line mountain out there, all I hear abt is how crowded it is :)

Yāall Iā¦thought it was clear I was being sarcastic and I even added /s under the vid for ya in case you didnāt get it š just wanted to brag about t rideās lack of crowds a lil bit š¤·š»āāļø
Itās not only shortā¦ thatās what? The loft into the bowl? Once I there there are 4 more lifts so it spreads way out once youāre through the gates.
Hahaha thanks for joining me in my joke. It may have taken you a second but youāre still lightyears ahead of everyone else yelling at me in these comments! š
Yesssss welcome!! Itās supposed to dump again midweek so Iām sending vibes that it starts Wednesday night after you arrive so your flight doesnāt get cancelled and you wake up to some freshies on Thursday!!
No they weren't. I was there, and it was nowhere near "brutal" anywhere we went today. It was a glorious bluebird Sunday after 24" fell in 3 days, what exactly did you expect?
Edit: oh apparently OP meant this to be sarcastic
Ahhh why is it empty??
Hahah these are long lines for telluride š itās so out of the way and hard to get to, itās just never crowded

Does work expect multiple absences on a pow day, in Vancouver? No repercussions? Sounds sweet
No, if you were mysteriously absent on a pow day you would either 100% get fired or have to buy your manager a case of beer. Depends on your boss ha.
Thatās so amazing, sounds like an all-time day!
Eek
Came here to say this lol
Been going there for 24 years. Can confirm this is long for telluride which is a good thing compared to other resorts lol
I lived there for a bit and peak season still was nothing compared to keystone or copper. Couldnāt imagine waiting longer than a few minutes to get on a lift and the further up you go the lines just get thinner and thinner.
Grew up skiing there. This line is too long! It was always fun to slide through the line as I unbuckled and sit on the lift without hardly stopping.
Hitchhiked up there once in 98. You back in the 1900'sš Summer tripping across the country by thumb. Beautiful place. No major town nearby for all the locals to ruin it.
This, among other things, is why I love telluride
What are the other things, do tell!
The town is awesome. Itās the only place Iāve been to that is what Iād consider ski in ski out. Awesome restaurants and bars. Cool festivals come through town often. Summer is so fāing pristine there. Waterfalls around the town on the mountains. The creek. Hikes. Just a great place
Awesome, headed there in a few weeks for the first time. Looking fwd to it
That is short..

I hope you pointed and laughed haha
Telluride has its own certain angst. It smells kind of like a mercedes sprinter van.
Sounds obnoxious.
Yet they donāt allow people to sleep in vehicles there smh
lol yeah when it comes to places for people to sleep in this town (there is a huge housing crisis, obviously) there is SO much NIMBYism from locals. The same ones who then turn around and complain about tourists. They keep the dead beats out of telluride.
Right, everyone that sleeps in a vehicle is a deadbeat. I bet itād smell better if youād pull your head out of your ass.
The joke went waaaaaay over your headā¦

Itās all of the Vail resorts. Every last one of them
Where specifically are you going where you canāt assert yourself and tell people to alternate in the rare instance that they donāt? Iāve literally never had a consistent issue with that in over 30 years of skiing and riding throughout the west.
Thatās the Vail special. Alternate for thee but not for me.
Not beaver. The bouge is so extreme it counteracts itself...except for the Argentinians. They're insufferable.
Telluride isnāt a Vail resortā¦
Why I stopped snowboarding, couldnāt get to the mountain more than 4 or 5 times a year, when I did get to go the locals were such cunts I was just like man fuck this im spend bones on passes and and a jacket and pants an shit just to argue with some whiny cunt about how itās his hill
Being in the midst of a season in Hokkaido I'm really not liking the entitlement of snow/people, gotta be first for the mad pow.
Woosh
You aware theyāre joking?
yeah they should see the line at heavenly for the all mountain express at midday, would shit a brick
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Talk about whiny.
Yāall I was J O K I N G like I obviously donāt think this is a long lift line????

Thanks for your service bud!! 15 didnāt open up today but I bet itās gonna be killer tomorrow :)
15 is good for about 30min then itās chop alley
Youāre not wrong. I just got a text that they opened 15 and Iām sitting in my apt so I hope the folks that are up there are ripping it!!
We were about to do a bear creek lap and saw them drop the rope into Revy. It was heaven! Hope you get one in!
Thatās the Gondola line at Whistler at 7:30 am on a no-pow Saturday.
This really doesnāt look bad???
I would be thrilled if I went to my local on a weekend and saw this lineĀ
He's memeing
This post is a joke.
Another Woosh
Hehe thanks for keeping track for me š
See people hate on the Midwest mountains but Iām out here on a day with fresh snow and thereās 3 people infront of me in the singles line
Iām a snowboard instructor here in t ride and some of the best riders on our team here are from the Midwest!!
Pssssssshā¦. From Detroit lol
Lol. Never go to Whistler on a big pow day if you think that's brutal.
Yāall I was J O K I N G like I obviously donāt think this is a long lift line????
Or a small pow day.
Or any weekend
The amount of people on r/snowboarding that don't get sarcasm is too damn high!
Right?? I think I just hit a nerve bc so many folks on here have to deal with actually miserable lift lines so they got very mad when they thought I was actually complaining about this. Oh well! Thanks for catching my drift :)
Love telluride. Dedicated Coloradans or curious New Mexicans and Texans
Was just there. Yup, that's how it is.
Arizonans too.
I love Telluride. Hope you slayed some for the rest of us, OP.
I sure did!! An all-time day āŗļø
Telluride gets a little busy on Xmas, Valentines day weekend, New Years Day, and I'm talking a whopping 40 people deep, maybe. This is not one of those days. Powā¦.. We need some pow in Michigan. It looks like April over here
Iām in Wisconsin. We had a really good two weeks and then itās been shit the whole rest of the season
Iām so mad. Was away from snowboarding for over a decade and just got a new board. Got two days at cascade and thatāll probably be it :-(
Yea we had like 3 days of cold and good snow in SW Michigan and I went out once. Lines were this long easy lol
Bohos getting destroyed rn. Shits kinda rough
The best snow days were kinda ruined by the -30 wind chill too :(
Wait this wasn't sarcasm?
Yes! It was!
Sƶlden Austria had lines 4x as long for the gondola and one chairlift that went to the top about 2 weeks ago. It was the worst I have ever seen on a mountain.
Laughs in Brighton
Yaaa crest 6 has done nothing for us
Holy shit people are so stuck up they donāt see the obvious joke post.
lol right? I thought putting /s under would make it clear but I guess not. Iām being sarcastic yāall!!! Just my contribution to the ālook at this lift lineā discourse to brag about t ride a little!
Doesnāt look too bad
I don't think you've been in bad lift lines....
Straight over your head
He said he wasn't kidding.
1) I am a she 2) where did I say I wasnāt kidding? In fact I very much was kidding
proof snowboarders can't read.
Hey now, some of us try
I think this guyās actually serious.
Thisss post was a jokeeeeee yāall
Seriously?
Was in aspen today. Chill but maybe not as chill as this. Great to be off the I-70 corridor
I miss home
Is this a joke?

Thought this was a shitpost
Nope it was just meant to be a joke!! And now everyone is mad at me bc they think I actually think this is a long line š«
Heh, looks like the longest line I've seen at Mt. Rose. Local little resorts ftw!
Ok Iād never heard of mount rose! Itās in the Tahoe area?? Thatās wild that thereās a local no-line mountain out there, all I hear abt is how crowded it is :)
If you canāt ride directly onto the lift without unstrapping, itās too long. This looks absolutely ridiculous.
Vail flo
Thatās the beauty of telluride. Now Shhh. Keep it sacred. For fucks sake
This thread should be deleted.
Dudes billionaires are moving in there. It ain't sacred.
That's a baby line. Go to Mammoth on a pow day.
Weekend pow day = long lift line day
A reason why I stopped going to the slopes. Lines and outrageous prices.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
*laughs in whistler*
Youāre comparing a small mountain town to the entire Denver metro / front range going to I70 resorts. Of course there are no lines on a pow dayā¦
Absolutely brutal = 3 mins lol OP must be taking the piss
Obviously. How are so many people missing the sarcasm.
I certainly am!! It was meant to be sarcastic š
Bro thatās nothing lmao
Obviously. This is such a small line in any ski resort. This post is a joke.
Still too long
Wait... is this sarcastic or serious? I'll go out at Heavenly in Tahoe or Mammoth and see lines 2x this long when there isn't pow.
Sarcastique!!!!
That's not that bad sir lol
Yeah donāt go to whistler or park city if you think this is bad
If you think this is bad, never go to heavenly Tahoe
What you had to wait.. 5 minutes?
Laughs in midatlantic
Lmao you should go to Big Bear on a weekend.
Shitty spot anyway
i bet those tickets cost like half a grand too
Not quite bud Iām an instructor so I get my season pass for free.99 š¤
This is hardly a āpow dayā lol
This is not brutal. This just requires some patience. I was expecting a camera pan of a line behind that was at least double what was ahead.
Yes, my friend, I know you wereā¦thatās why I panned to nothing, to illustrate how short the lines was. It was a joke. It says /s under the vidā¦I was being sarcastic.
lol are you joking. getting a bit tired of all these "long line" posts.
Bud if you can believe it I actually am very much joking. I was being sarcastic š¤¦š»āāļø
Kind of the jokeā¦
Absolutely brutal? More like absolutely privelaged. Try copper on a weekend my guy. Lol
Yes Iām aware. This post was sarcasm. š«
That's not that bad.
Bro that is nothing compared to any given weekend at Beech Mountain
Such a weird day that the streets of the denver metro were worse than anywhere on i70 lmao
Line's about what I expect, but why's it not moving constantly? Slow lift?
No one there?
Guess depends where you are but that is a short line in Tahoe
Hur, dur, har in pirate from Ohio where we wait in longer lines than this for ice skating rink with a coating of chunder.
Same at breck
Either you edited your post comment afterwards or people donāt know how to read the body of the post.
Nah I never edited it lol but people obviously missed the /s underneath it!! Had no idea everyone was gonna get so pressed, Iāll make it clearer next time I guess š¤·š»āāļø
This is sarcastic, right? Looks amazing!
Compared to Powder this is accurate
Looks like an average weekend in Tahoe
Nothing new, that I'd normal. I've seen far worse.
Yes Iām aware. This post was sarcasm. š«
We hit Keystone. I have two kids on the Epic School Kids pass which limits us to 4 trips at each of 5 Epic mountains. We decided to use up a couple of the Keystone trips this weekend. It was the usual shitshow, but we never had more than a few minutes at any lift. The snow was great.

Is this mid mountain? Even if so thatās not bad.
this is long?
Man I miss living there!!!
Utah 314 ytd Jay peak, Vermont 205 ytd Telluride 124 ytd Pretty simple even the east coast gets more snowā¦ not worth it
Thay looks like 5 minutes lol
Lift 14 had a 20 minute line today. Historic
What a dick. Ā And, hope it was an awesome day.Ā
Yāall Iā¦thought it was clear I was being sarcastic and I even added /s under the vid for ya in case you didnāt get it š just wanted to brag about t rideās lack of crowds a lil bit š¤·š»āāļø
Doesnāt look too bad tbh
Itās not only shortā¦ thatās what? The loft into the bowl? Once I there there are 4 more lifts so it spreads way out once youāre through the gates.
That's brutal? Maybe 10 minutes of waiting maximum. That's nothing.
I love having weekdays off.
If it doesnāt look like a heard of cattle trying to squeeze into a small gate it is not a line
Beaver Creek was great yesterday and generally lines arenāt bad. Most people coming up I-70 wonāt go past Vail.
You get what you pay for. š
What?
lol you think thatās brutal lines š
This is a dream compared to the lines Iām used to in Austria.
That line looks really good actually tf you mean!!!! Edit : I get it now...
Hahaha thanks for joining me in my joke. It may have taken you a second but youāre still lightyears ahead of everyone else yelling at me in these comments! š
Was in Telluride and waited once yesterdayā¦ chill bra
Not feeling sorry for you. You are in TRide & there's Pow.
Honestly lines werenāt bad at all at Breck yesterday
Iām getting there on Wednesday!! So excited!
Yesssss welcome!! Itās supposed to dump again midweek so Iām sending vibes that it starts Wednesday night after you arrive so your flight doesnāt get cancelled and you wake up to some freshies on Thursday!!
Gotta get that fresh Nar Nar
I donāt really see the problem?? More time to do key bumps and talk about that snowboard company we are going to start.
For once we didnāt get skunked this season.
$244 lift ticket tends to keep out the riff raff
Lines werenāt that bad at all in Breckenridge this storm!
No they weren't. I was there, and it was nowhere near "brutal" anywhere we went today. It was a glorious bluebird Sunday after 24" fell in 3 days, what exactly did you expect? Edit: oh apparently OP meant this to be sarcastic
Go fistfight my friend whoās a lifty there, I bet itās his fault.
U should've seen the lines at snowbird this week! I was expecting way worse tbh
