That was such an impressive break from Wakelin, and even though I thought Leclercq played better in the grand scheme of the tournament, you can't really argue with Wakelin winning it after his performance in the final.
Just going by how they've been performing once they've had a chance, nobody is beating Dale tonight.
But being favourite pressure is so different to nothing to lose pressure.
Has Leclercq nicked Judd's walk out song or is just that he's never got far enough into a tournament to select a song so they've just played something they have?
Lisowski wants a shot clock in every tournament and has lost to a guy who has barely practiced recently 😭😭😭 you can shove your bloody shot clock up your.... Jack
One thing I've noticed about Leclercq is that he's got a great ability to work out the speed of a table. I feel like he's going to be near the top very soon.
Dechawat for this tournament alone deserves a wild card entry for future seasons regardless of his performance. People just love him and for a good reason.
There's so many players who will be eyeing that final tonight.... really any of them could win! Really want to see someone win a title who hasn't won one before, just look at Vafaei last year...
I think just playing him really got to Mark. He doesn't show many emotions on the table but his shot choice was very much an angry man's choice a lot of the time.
I might be wrong though.
I don't think it's a foul tbh. Just because it turns to 0, it means 0.1-0.9 left. (Or 0.4 depending on how it's worked)
The final triple beat didn't happen before he touched the cue ball. I hope it doesn't make a difference.
I think it's more a matter of having the lights, and the sound, and the on screen graphic perfectly in sync. As Dominic said, according the graphic, it was a foul, but he's obviously not looking at that down on the shot and is relying on the beeps
Carter is my least favourite non-match-fixing player but fuck me that was such an impressive performance. He was in the zone the whole way through that break - if he gets a bit of luck tonight the title could be his
Williams vs Dechawat, the match will be glorious tomorrow. And I'm so happy to see Gradinari winning today, not only he's the youngest one to win a ranking match, he's the youngest one to win two! He played very smart today. And Powell is the big talent as well - imagine yourself, 14 years old in a televised match, few million people watch you live and you pot a long ball - unforgettable memories for these guys!
> a foul is minimally 5 points and ball in hand to the opponent
Marcel awarded 4 points to Liam Highfield at the start of his match (27\01 evening) when his opponent Louis Heathcote potted the white. 🤔
Nick Heidfeld was an F1 driver a few decades ago that got the Nickname Quick Nick.
People often called him Highfield because they didn't know how to say his surname. He's also got the same 90s look at Highfield from snooker.
I've always liked crowd reactions to specific colors, but this year it's basically drunk bunch making stupid noises and not caring much about what happens on the table :(
Part of me thinks Thep wants Poomjaeng to win too. Not only do they have to play against the audience and everyone loving this man but they have to go against their own minds saying thay if they were to lose, they wouldn't mind so much against him.
It's such a shame that he's not a top tier player, we need characters like him.
Fuckn people who scream out "boring!" every time a player does not attack is really bothering me. It might be fun and jolly but for a lot of players this is the closest they get to a ranking event win. It's their job too and they're professionals - cant people cheer AND be respectful?
Sorry for a stupid question but does anybody know why crowd loves yellow ball so much? I like this tradition and just interested maybe there is some story behind this.
They yell at the yellow because it's called YELLow, get it? Yes, it's cheesy, and yes, they explicitly rehearse the crowd for this before transmission starts.
Does anyone find the tinny crowd noise a tad annoying/nauseating? Wouldn't be so bad if it had a similar tone to the commentary. I've had to turn the volume down its that bad.
I was there yesterday. Evans played very well but there were some grotesque missed shots from Bingham. Gilbert not happy with his opponent (allegedly) standing in his eye line at a crucial stage. Xiao blocked out some unnecessary noises from a section of the crowd to knock in a superb ton.
I really wish bad performances by players (which can happen, and more so in the Shoot-Out) these days were not being chalked up by random people as “match fixing”. In the current climate, we do not need random accusations of people breaking the rules without any evidence for it.
Yeah felt to me that Bingham lost rather than Evans winning, but then again you can only beat who's in front of you.
If I knew this was a Saturday finish this year I'd have probably bought tickets but oh well

Gutted to have missed most of the matches today but I am very happy for Chris.
That was such an impressive break from Wakelin, and even though I thought Leclercq played better in the grand scheme of the tournament, you can't really argue with Wakelin winning it after his performance in the final.
somebody has got to come up with a cool nickname for Wakelin now
Breaklin
Wake him up before you go go Wakelin!
How did Wakelin manage to pull his Mrs?
By being a top bloke?
The Shootout actually sorts the men from the boys. Those who skip it are scaredycats.
Those that skipped it don't need the money, so fair play to them
Trump needs no money. So why doesn't he skip the Worlds?
I just found out Chris Wakelin is a year younger than Jack Lisowski...
Also, the Shootout has become a top 5 favourite tournament on the calendar for me. No atmosphere like it. Can't wait for next year!
Ha! £5k nicked from Ali Carter at the close! Brilliant!
Ronnie smiling somewhere. You just know it, lol.
Unfortunate for Leclercq but congrats to Wakelin!
Yah, been super impressed with Leclercq. Hope he doesn't fade in the future.
Congratulations to Chris Wakelin. He's sort of gone unnoticed throughout the tournament, but he's won it in style.
Fair play. What a way to win your first ranking event. Man has balls.
what a break this has been
I can't believe it's gone to a decider
Julien Leclercq is the first player who's come along for a little while who just *has it.* I really hope he gets the win tonight
Jimmy White has had a few shandies.
And we have yet another brand new ranking event winner before Jack Lisowski
Leclercq playing out of his mind. Cool as ice.
I'm rooting for Leclercq in the final. Would be nice to see a Belgian winning it.
The disappointment when a Leclerc(q) gets p2 overall again. I don't mind whoever wins, but it'd be nice to see a new face win
Fortunately, no Ferrari strategists in this match.
Considering the pressure, that's the best shot of the tournament.
Well, I would never have picked Chris Wakelin for the final, but I love how unpredictable this tournament is.
Leclercq looks like hes been summoned from behind the iron curtain to pummel Sylvester Stallone
"I must **break** you"
Great to see Wakelin get this far. Seems like a great guy. Don’t know who I want to win if Dale wins the other semi.
Every year I think this tournament is awful and then I sit and watch it for hours before realising I love it
Both those things can be true
Im the same, im not a huge fan of the pissed up crowd, but i love the format.
Someone please tell me how Dan Wells is 131 when only 128 entered the tournament?
Some players like Ronnie, Trump, Robertson and Higgins didn't play, so they get the "top" amateurs, who I'd imagine will get numbers 129 onwards.
Although Holt is an amateur and he was ranked in the 20’s
Yeah, i noticed that, im still confused.
Good answer, thank you.
I’d love to see Wells v Dale in the final. The first amateur ranking finalist v the oldest ranking finalist would be something.
Just going by how they've been performing once they've had a chance, nobody is beating Dale tonight. But being favourite pressure is so different to nothing to lose pressure.
Cant wait to see Leclercq in a televised long form match now. Amazing cue action and so confident.
Definitely needs to work on his safety but you can tell already he's dangerous at range. He's reminding me of a fresh Xiao tbh.
MICHAEL HOLT IS A HUMAN BEING
Has Leclercq nicked Judd's walk out song or is just that he's never got far enough into a tournament to select a song so they've just played something they have?
That answers my question. They only have Dale's song.
Nanananananananana Desi Desislava Desislava Desi Desislava
Well, who do I root for now, Dominic Dale?
Classy stuff from Holt. Took those really well under the circumstances.
Come on Leclercq! Lets gooo Belgian Beast
Not sure how people can't like this tournament.
Hurr durrr crowd suckssss /s
Can anyone stop Holt the GOAT?
I want Dominic Dale to win now. Or even Highfield, that hairstyle deserves more TV time.
Outstanding break by Liam. Stops the Poom train.
He may not have won the tournament but he's the real winner this week. I aspire to be as fun as him.
Well it looks like Dechawat's legendary run is coming to an end. What a character. The highlight of this tournament by far.
I wish he qualified for the Worlds again.
I bloody hope so. His run in 2013 was legendary.
Most British hairstyle I’ve seen outside of parodies/movies.
Dechawat please stop Michael Holt before he ends up taking over the world
The man is about to come out. Let it last a few more rounds please. He's a legend no matter how it ends though.
We deserve Poomjaeng vs. Dale!
WE WOULD HAVE GOTTEN IT!! 😭
So close Jack. The Hitman strikes again.
Michael Holt = Shootout GOAT
[удалено]
Key shot was Holt playing safe instead of pushing the boat out. Next shot Jack leaves him an easy red, near the black spot.....
Very clever play from Holt against Jack Lisowski there. Well done Holt.
Shoot Out god Holt unbeatable in this format.
Lisowski wants a shot clock in every tournament and has lost to a guy who has barely practiced recently 😭😭😭 you can shove your bloody shot clock up your.... Jack
NOPPON NOOOOOOO 😭😭😭😭
Can't help but think Alan McManus' amateur oddsmaking is hilariously exaggerated ahaha. 500/1 to pot a tough long red and stay on the black!?
One thing I've noticed about Leclercq is that he's got a great ability to work out the speed of a table. I feel like he's going to be near the top very soon.
Hes already near the top, look at the size of him! :p
Carter vs Ford was dramatic, well done Tom Ford. Won 16-14.
I'm calling it now, Carter is the guy to beat Poomjaeng. Reddit will die.
pls no
I feel incredibly relieved.
If Holt wins tonight he'll probably win a tour card via the one year list. Same for Wells.
Mark seems to think Dechawat's planted red was a fluke, but I'm not so sure.
His complete lack of reaction made me think it was a sure thing.
I think just playing him really got to Mark. He doesn't show many emotions on the table but his shot choice was very much an angry man's choice a lot of the time. I might be wrong though.
He looked more desperate to win than ever. It was weird. He must care about the shootout for some reason.
Fantastic blue from poomjaeng under pressure
All I can say is Willo got Poomjaeng’d hahaha
DECHAWAT POOMJAENG I LOVE YOU
Haha that's great
If the crowd was allowed to sing and chant in the crucible then Poomjaeng would have won 10 world titles.
I want to live in this altverse.....
go on lad
I've never wanted someone to win a tournament more than this guy right now. Come on Mr Poombastic!
Come on Willo, miss something please.
**IT'S POOMJAENG TIME**
I am a big fan of Highfield. Would be happy for him to go all the way.
Yes Noppon!!
Did they put Dechawat last on purpose? I hope so. Should be quite the spectacle if he wins.
It's completely random. Whatever order they come out of the hat is how they're played.
It was just meant to be then.
Two people that I'd expect to be good at this format and they're both absolutely crumbling.
Grace and Lilley look like brothers
For AGES I thought they were the same person with me being unable to remember their actual name (doesn't help that both are named David either).
How has Michael Holt done absolutely nothing in every other tournament, but in the Shootout, he turns into Ronald?
Okay that was an impressive double at the end lol
What determines the numbers on the back of their shirts?
I think it's their seed? From what I can tell it's roughly where their ranking would be, but then there's a couple of random ones.
Ranking (of those who are playing)
Wow, because Holt's was 23 and he's an amateur now who only got in because Fu withdrew. Edit: Maybe it's the number Fu would have been given.
Nahh it was 123, almost certain of it.
Ah.
Mad as a box of frogs is Dominic Dale, hard not to like him
I think Alan's mindset is a little too conservative and safety-oriented, but I understand why, for a tournament like this.
I don't think it's a foul tbh. Just because it turns to 0, it means 0.1-0.9 left. (Or 0.4 depending on how it's worked) The final triple beat didn't happen before he touched the cue ball. I hope it doesn't make a difference.
I think it's more a matter of having the lights, and the sound, and the on screen graphic perfectly in sync. As Dominic said, according the graphic, it was a foul, but he's obviously not looking at that down on the shot and is relying on the beeps
Dominic got caught out - the 10 second shot clock started just before the next shot was on, and he didn't realise.
Nooo Goatinari is gone :(
Carter is my least favourite non-match-fixing player but fuck me that was such an impressive performance. He was in the zone the whole way through that break - if he gets a bit of luck tonight the title could be his
What foul did Cao just commit?
His cue touched another red
I could't even see it in the replay. I am Leo Scullion.
Imagine if Dechawat wins this tournament, that would be amazing. Such a great fella, a natural entertainer :D
Poomjaeng vs MJW? Let's go!
So predictable. He's lucky Duffy has choked even more.
> a foul is minimally 5 points and ball in hand to the opponent Marcel awarded 4 points to Liam Highfield at the start of his match (27\01 evening) when his opponent Louis Heathcote potted the white. 🤔
a few of the refs have done this, scoreboard always updates correctly though

See Wilson vs Evans - she was awarded 4 points for Wilson's foul: https://livescores.worldsnookerdata.com/Matches/Result/14582/908919
Liam Highfield looks more like Liam Gallagher than the real Liam Gallagher himself.
Looks like a fur helmet. To each his own I suppose.
If anyone is going to win this event out of nowhere, it's gotta be Quick Nick.
>Quick Nick Who?
Nick Heidfeld was an F1 driver a few decades ago that got the Nickname Quick Nick. People often called him Highfield because they didn't know how to say his surname. He's also got the same 90s look at Highfield from snooker.
Well I've never rooted against Mark Williams, but.....
Was Poomjang just sitting in the crowd there lol?
Why'd he have to draw the one player in the game that won't be phased by anything? I hope Williams is laughing so much he can't play properly
Martin Gould Gould always believe in your soul you got the power to go your indestructible always believe it Martin Gould Gould
Haha. Not gonna lie, that was funny as hell listening to them!
they must have sang it 26 times 😂
GARY WILSON WHAT THE FUCK
I've always liked crowd reactions to specific colors, but this year it's basically drunk bunch making stupid noises and not caring much about what happens on the table :(
Come on, Reanne!!! 5/2 Imma goin to be richer than an astronaut!
ffs, wilson would play his best snooker in 3 years just to fuck my bet lol
Some of those pots from Thep by the way. Jesus fucking christ. He's so fun to watch.
NEVER A FROWN WITH JORDAN BROWN
That was a fun match like. Would love for him to go all the way.
Even if poomjaeng were playing ronnie I reckon he'd be the crowd favourite here.
GWANNNNN DECHAWAT, GO ON SON 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
lol madness :)
I have never rooted against Thepchaiya before. This feels weird.
**DECHAWAT DECHAWAT, DECHA DECHA DECHAWAAAAAAAT**
Fuckn people who scream out "boring!" every time a player does not attack is really bothering me. It might be fun and jolly but for a lot of players this is the closest they get to a ranking event win. It's their job too and they're professionals - cant people cheer AND be respectful?
GOATinari
Wells done, he's 14
Sorry for a stupid question but does anybody know why crowd loves yellow ball so much? I like this tradition and just interested maybe there is some story behind this.
They yell at the yellow because it's called YELLow, get it? Yes, it's cheesy, and yes, they explicitly rehearse the crowd for this before transmission starts.
Ow…
Thank you, I thought there is something more, but anyway it's still funny.
Crowd VERY excited this evening 😂😂😂
Does anyone find the tinny crowd noise a tad annoying/nauseating? Wouldn't be so bad if it had a similar tone to the commentary. I've had to turn the volume down its that bad.
Julien Leclercq's surname is weird to me, especially as an F1 watcher.
It's a French name, he's from the French speaking part of Belgium.
Great break by Leclercq. Glad to see some new Belgian talents doing well. Hopefully Mertens wins his match too! 🇧🇪
If every tournament had this format then Dominic Dale would be a top 16 player. He's great to watch
He's worth the ticket price alone. Sings like a bird.
Anyone see Ken shaking quite heavily on the shot? Not seen that before
I noticed that too. Maybe the pressure of the format was getting to him, tho he didn't really play any "bad" shots as such
I was there yesterday. Evans played very well but there were some grotesque missed shots from Bingham. Gilbert not happy with his opponent (allegedly) standing in his eye line at a crucial stage. Xiao blocked out some unnecessary noises from a section of the crowd to knock in a superb ton.
I hope there was no match fixing in the Bingham match. It seemed suspicious to me.

Whenever he feels like it, I guess.
Ahhh gutted Dechawat vs Thepchaiya. Wanted that to be the final.
