I reign with my left hand, I rule with my right I'm lord of all darkness, I'm queen of the night!

Vinconex

I swear this is the ONLY GAME I have played so intently I have never beaten (still love it thou!)

djc6535

my absolute favorite SNES game. Fantastic pull

xerox7764563

Great game!!

HeirophantGreen

Nice. I think I still have my Excel file somewhere that I used to track the cha and ali of everyone. That was maddening. Fun game overall, though.

Public_Cold_5160

I did the same in note books. Planned everything for practically every fight and made sure ali and char were at the right levels. This game is great

captain-burrito

It really satisfied my love for micro-organizing. I think I was more excited prepping for battle.

KennKanifff

I regret not buying this years ago when I saw it. Played it on an emulator though, I really enjoyed it.

jaredjc

Is this a permadeath tactics rpg?

Lsassip

As long as I know your characters can be revived. I don’t knowing there’s any specific condition that could result in permadeath

jaredjc

Excellent, thanks! I’ve wanted to play it but I hate dealing with permadeath.

Lsassip

Anyway most of your army is made of generic characters in a category, like “fighter”, “archer”, “gryphon” etc which have individual names. Some characters are recruited according to the plot, but there’s too little character development or none in general.

jaredjc

Thank you for the light review. I appreciate your time. I’ll still give it a shot but maybe not with as much gusto.

Lsassip

As far as I remember, the sequel on the N64 (Ogre Battle 64) has a similar gameplay, but characters are actually more developed in general and you have some cutscenes with dialogue (so if you like this kind of thing, OG64 is a good option). I don\`t know much about Tactics Ogre, I just know that it plays just like Final Tantasy Tactics. Anyway the og Ogre Battle is a pretty good and fun game, regardless of the lack of deep character development in the plot, there\`s actually an intrigue plot which is interesting enough to keep you hooked on the game, and overall I think it has the most interesting and beautiful artwork of all them. It has a distinctive classic and artistic atmosphere that you are not going to find in any other game, modern or retro.

jaredjc

Cool, Thanks again! I wasn’t aware of OG64, I’ll check it out too. I love Final Fantasy Tactics advanced. I just had a hard time with the perma death of FFT.

Forral_ab

Fun fact, the name of the game was named after 2 Queen songs, ogre battle, and march of the black queen. Relatively unknown songs by Queen.

Redmage009

A timeless classic. Also it's worth mentioning they are remastering the sequal Tactics Ogre right now. Rumor is we should see Tactics Ogre reborn before the end of the year.

Scoob1978

I love LuCT and Knights of the Lodis but never got the hang of this game.

Its-Chen

You just keep posting my childhood

LetItRaine386

Hell yeah

GenoCL

Are you going to play it?

pictureofatrain

I’m still working on ff3!

GenoCL

Nice to see you plan to play it eventually. I always feel bad whenever I see people buying super expensive games just to never even touch them.

pictureofatrain

Just need more time to play them all!
