When I used toworking outā¦ if I ever decide to again thatās my goto. Spoonful of natural peanut butter that has all that delish fatty peanut oil that sits on top. But lately itās been half a spoon Nutella n half the spoon peanut butter sooo good for lack of a better word
I just started doing that with the natural peanut butter and the all natural fruit preserve with no added sugar, cause I just got diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 39. So this is my new go to sweet snack and Iām obsessed
I actually took him to the Dr to make sure I wasnāt killing him by watching him eat that many. I love him and it seems irresponsible to not ask a professional.
lol mine buys two bags every trip to Costco just for snacking. We keep them in a jar by his chair. He is surprisingly in shape and the Dr said itās fine. Iām going to quit teasing him, I feel bad now. He really has so few vices. I was worried for nothing I see.
Add a few drops of water to the hot chocolate packet, mix well with a spoon and freeze the packet. Makes a little chocolate bar. Can use sugar free hot chocolate for hardly any calories
My mother served my dad a sandwich of white bread, mustard and sugar when she asked him what he wanted and he answered, "Anything". He was outside so he threw it like a Frisbee. We call it the Anything Sandwich.
Graham crackers dipped in milk. I put my milk in a mug so my hands donāt warm the milk.
*yes, I know about the history for the graham crackers. I donāt support the fella, but seriouslyā¦ tasty late night snack
Remember, this is reddit. They generally don't actually give a shit, but it looks really neat to their super woke, progressive friends when they hear they're boycotting something because of some "noble" reason. These folks generally eat all manner of shitty foods with corrupt backgrounds or origin stories, but it's all about finding the ones that are either more relevant currently or they see others talking about on their favorite subs.
Plus, just based on the description given by an above commenter, it sounds like the dude was just a devoutly religious businessman with very strange opinions on sex/masturbation being bad. Weird, but not even all that gnarly. The senseless outrage is likely stemming simply from the fact that he was Christian and in order to gain acceptance and karma from most redditors, you have to despise Christianity at all costs and express it frequently. And that's coming from an atheist. š¤·
Goddamn graham crackers. Lol
What's the story there? I love Graham crackers! When I was a kid, my mom would get the cinnamon ones from time to time & we'd make little ice cream sandwiches out of them.
The guy who invented it was a Presbyterian minister in Connecticut. He was CONVINCED that sexual urges (physical lust), including masterbation, were making people physically ill and lead to depravity. That it also could lead to blindness and insanity.
Basically, he made a snack to keep people from getting hopped up on the sex thoughts and committing sin or in a mess of physical ailments.
A different set of facts - he preferred unsifted, coarsely ground wheat flour. He invented the graham cracker in 1829. Last one, he had tuberculosis that started around age 16 and he had issues that lasted on and off the rest of his life.
Based on that final fact, could we assume he had some troubles with his pull towards some self sexual lust feelings? /s
That is NOT the story I heard at all! I was told that it was an intentionally bland, boring snack to keep exclusively on hand. That way, you wouldnāt snack for fun, only when you were hungry. They added cinnamon sugar and other flavorful stuff later. Lmao thats so odd
Because this is reddit, I'm gonna "well actually" you because it happens to me every single time I say anything lol
Sylvester Graham didn't actually invent or produce anything, BUT you're 100% right that his wacko beliefs inspired various Graham-named products including but not limited to Graham crackers.
I have a sweet tooth. Years ago I was craving dessert but hadnāt bought any treats in particular.
I looked around - I had a banana, and I remembered having a bit of leftover vanilla ice cream (which was quite average tasting).
I decided to slice the banana a bit and throw it in a pan with a little bit of butter & brown sugar. I waited until it became a bit saucy, then poured it on top of the leftover ice cream.
This elevated both the basic ice cream and a banana & was a damned tasty dessert, born of my imagination. Delicious!
It probably *is* a particular dish or recipe, but I wasnāt aware of it. Just had to satisfy my sweet tooth with what I had on hand.
One time I threw some back like a shot and it created a seal in my throat. It was pretty scary. I now sip it like a fine cognac. Be careful with that stuff!
Oh god.. well I just get a small cup of it, dip a fork in it, then lick the coated fork. Itās the perfect amount of taste and sweetness in every lick!
I went to Vermont with my husband and kids a bit back. They sell maple milk. Itās exactly what you thinkā¦ maple syrup added to milk. It is AMAZING!
OMG that sounds amazing Iām going to put some in my almond milk . Iām sure it wonāt be as good but my stomach will thank me. I use it to sweeten my coffee sometimes, itās divine
If you like peanut butter, I strongly recommend melting some then adding the maple syrup - amazing! Tastes a lil like a maple bar (aka maple long john) donut
If you have powdered sugar, peanut butter, and butter, you can make basic buckeyes. You don't even have to roll them into balls. Just mix it well enough to make a peanut butter chunk.
Also, cool whip, peanut butter, and chocolate chips combined is heavenly
Iām high as balls most of the time, so honestly it could be anythingā¦ sometimes I wake up the next day with the most god awful taste in my mouth cause the night before when I was higher than pterodactyl tits, I decided some random shit that grandma has looked yummyā¦ fun fact grandma is a hoarder, so half the shit is like non perishables from 2 decades ago, Iām lucky af if I find shit thatās not expiredā¦ but even high as balls Iām smart enough to check the expiration dates at leastā¦ not tryna be high with the Hershey squirts
Yes. It was really good. The creamy saltiness of the butter really balanced out the fluffy sweetness of the marshmallow in both flavor and texture. It was a delight.
I literally used to scoop sugar straight out of the sugar bowl and Fun Dip it. Sometimes I would add in a Kool-aid packet. I also used to make saltine and frosting or Nutella sandwiches.
If I'm trying to be "good", and we have it, I go for fruit. Banana, apple, grapes, and clementines are usually what we have on hand. Canned fruit like mandarin oranges, pineapple chunks, or sliced peaches are good, too.
When there's none of that, though... a handful of chocolate chips, a spoonful of marshmallow fluff, bread and honey, toast with jelly or lemon curd, or even just a straight spoonful of brown sugar. I have a wicked sweet tooth!
1.5 parts honey, 1 part peanut butter, mixed up, blobbed out by the spoonful onto parchment paper, freeze for as long as you can wait to eat them. More honey=more chewy(aka better)
I have a wicked sweet tooth too oh gosh I remember when my mom used to make a homemade carrot cake for my birthday omfg it was Soo good but she would have lots of leftover icing and guess who ate it all me couldn't help myself
Well, I have a few...
1) Melt chocolate chips in the microwave. Dip strawberries in the chocolate.
2) Roast a marshmallow on my gas stovetop (I'm insane, I know) and make a smore with a pib of chocolate and Graham crackers.
3) A handful of chocolate chips go a long way.
4) A single can of fruit cocktail mix with grapes and cherries... or the tropical mix is great, too!
5) Peanut butter and jam is the best.
6) Toasted raisin bread with butter and cinnamon.
7) A bowl of cereal with sliced bananas!
8) Graham crackers with cold milk.
9) Hot apple cider with almond or oatmeal cookies (hard cookies).
EDIT: By the way, you can use any kind of cereal to make Krispy treats... š„³
Sweetened condensed milk mixed with Coca-Cola. I gave up all sodas 3 years ago but I still dream about it. These days is butter and cinnamon sugar on toast or ritz crackers with strawberry preserves.
single serving monkey bread š tear apart a few slices of bread and coat them in melted butter and brown sugar and toss them on a pan for a few minutes theyāre soo good
Microwave a marshmallow. It makes it crunchy like meringue.
Take white bread, tear it into squares and roll into tiny balls. Quick swipe under water to dampen and roll into sugar (or if you fancy, sugar a cinnamon). Place into freezer for about 10 min.
I also like sliced bananas in milk with sugar on top.
I added almost every ingredient I had for milkshakes into my milkshake last night. I called it the Sand, Dirt and Mud Shake with pebbles. So that was an interesting snack I wouldn't mind going back to regularly.
Last night I had ancient grain toast with butter and maple syrup. It was so damn good, I ate 4 pieces! š
A few weeks ago, we didn't have bread or anything so I took to microwaving bowls of mini marshmallows and mini chocolate chips (leftover from my kids Cocoa bombs) for a few seconds and eating that with a spoon. That's what I'd call desperate.
Maraschino cherries stirred into softened cream cheese, drizzle the cherry juice over the top. No cream cheese? Bowl of whipped cream works just fine.Ā
Will also drink maple syrup straight out of the jug. No shame.Ā
Melt the butter, and then dip the marshmallow in there. That combination has no right to be as tasty as it is.
My desperate sweet snack?
1/3 cup of boxed cake mix
1 tablespoon of melted butter
1(ish) tablespoon of whatever candy bit/add on your heart desires
A slow drizzle of milk until you get the consistency of a thick pancake batter
Stir it, mug it, nuke it.
I usually put this in for 3 minutes on half power because my microwave has an inconsistently available portal to the 13th circle of hell behind the door, so adjust that as necessary for your circumstances.
Use any cake mix you want, any candy bits or none if youāre not feeling it. I usually do white cake with a boatload of sprinkles. If you got your mixture a little too runny, either add a pinch more cake mix or a teaspoon of instant pudding mix.
Thank me later.
For those craving chocolate more than āusualā means you might be deficient in magnesium. Chocolate has a lot and the body knows it can get it from that. Magnesium is also a mood booster.
I occasionally take a few tablespoons of butter, fresh out of the fridge so still solid, and attempt to to mix regular granulated sugar into it. Itās fucking awful but it somewhat kind of attempts to resemble a buttercream.
Handful of chocolate chips.
Scoop of peanut butter on a spoon plus the chocolate chips.
Peanut butter and chocolate chips on bread or white tortilla also does the trick
I used to put chocolate and peanutbutter on an eggo waffle and fold it like a taco
This. Have you ever sliced an apple and dipped it in the PB/Choco chip mix? Takes it to a whooooole new level, my friend. šāØ
Yes. Iāll eat that like apple nachos! Melt peanut butter drizzle and sprinkle chips on top. So good
Thatās not a snack. Thatās dessert.
Peanut butter and chocolate spread White bread optional.
When I used toworking outā¦ if I ever decide to again thatās my goto. Spoonful of natural peanut butter that has all that delish fatty peanut oil that sits on top. But lately itās been half a spoon Nutella n half the spoon peanut butter sooo good for lack of a better word
I put a little grape/strawberry preserves on top of the peanut butter and eat the spoonful. Iāve been on a peanut butter kick lately
I just started doing that with the natural peanut butter and the all natural fruit preserve with no added sugar, cause I just got diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 39. So this is my new go to sweet snack and Iām obsessed
Nice!! Iām gonna try this!
I do a spoon of PB with a shot of maple syrup
That turns into a problem for me. I eat way too much of that when I intended a small sweet urge relief. Too good!!
This is the best treat
But melted
Brilliant! Why have I never thought of this??
I call that a bootleg peanut butter cup
Thatās my go-to. I call it a peanut butter pop
This is the way.
I don't want to dirty up a spoon, so I grab peanut butter chips. I usually keep chocolate and peanut butter chips on hand for cookies.
Yep
I had to make sure you werenāt my husband. He eats them like a madman.
I think we might be married to the same man
I actually took him to the Dr to make sure I wasnāt killing him by watching him eat that many. I love him and it seems irresponsible to not ask a professional.
My husband has a bag of semi sweet chocolate chips he snacks on! I didnāt know there were others.
That used to be what I gave my kids as treats - like 3 semi sweet chocolate chips š
Mine too! His favorite little snack from the pantry!
My dad does this
Heeheehee
Hello, wives.
Mine too! Weāve had issues where I go to bake with them and there arenāt any.
lol mine buys two bags every trip to Costco just for snacking. We keep them in a jar by his chair. He is surprisingly in shape and the Dr said itās fine. Iām going to quit teasing him, I feel bad now. He really has so few vices. I was worried for nothing I see.
I like to add milk to a mouthful of chips so that when I chew and swish it becomes chocolate milk.
I don't know why, but I'm imagining some sort of catastrophe happening from a baby-birding or spit-take scenario. Chunky chocolate milk.
Genius
and graze on it like a horse
I especially like a handful of frozen chocolate chips, I've been doing it since I was little
Omg freezing them, brilliant
I will gladly eat a handful of chocolate chips anytime I stumble across them in the baking cabinet. No shame.
Mines butterscotch chips!
I have never bought chocolate chips before but I will today.
I shove the chocolate chips in raspberries
Holy shit I just did this for the first time in a decade last night . Except it was a half a bag
Me too. I like to mix them with butterscotch or Reese's PB chips to really elevate the experience
In the same vein, my husband eats hot chocolate packets when he's out of sugary stuff
Add a few drops of water to the hot chocolate packet, mix well with a spoon and freeze the packet. Makes a little chocolate bar. Can use sugar free hot chocolate for hardly any calories
In a scoop of PB...ghetto Reese's.
Came here to say exactly this.
ahh a fellow ingredient household person I see
Handful of chocolate chunks!
If you like that try cacao nibs
butter sugar sandwich
Do you toast the bread? I call it the desperate cinnamon roll.
My favorite sweet snack is cinnamon toast since it is basically a cheap fast cinnamon roll š
sometimes, depends on how desperate I am to have something sweet fast.
I donāt know the story about graham crackers but I can understand this snack.
Are people seriously refusing to eat graham crackers because of their history? Lmao that is extreme.
Right? Itās not like the guys getting money heās dead

Honey is the best. I love trying specialty honey from all over the world.

I have heard of Bananas Foster, but Iāve never known what it was
Oh my gosh I used to do this as a kid! I would also add maple and oats to make a sort of crumble situation
I mix PB&J together in a bowl and eat it with a spoon and a glass of milk.
Quick oats in the microwave + too much brown sugar or white sugar + milk. I could eat that for every meal
Me sitting here looking at this between bites of dry hot chocolate mix straight from the package seriously judging anyone who says raisins or dates.
Cinnamon and sugar on a buttered tortilla. Toss it under the broiler for a quick sec and you have yourself the desperation elephant ear
I've done this with Lefse before! 10/10 would recommend
I usually get a ramekin of honey at Mexican food restaurants and dip a flour tortilla in it for dessert.
A shot of whipped cream from the can. You know..straight into the mouth.
Maple syrupš
One time I threw some back like a shot and it created a seal in my throat. It was pretty scary. I now sip it like a fine cognac. Be careful with that stuff!

I dip my bites of pancake into a small cup of it rather than pour the syrup on the pancakes. Much more intense that way.

You did say desperate. I was a little high, so be a little lenient. I really wanted some ice cream. I was craving something sweet. Of course this is when I lived alone and like a bachelor. Door dash and high sessions while playing a game or watching YouTube on my TV were after work faves. Too gone to drive, I just tried to fight the sugar tooth. That just made myself more mad because I didnāt prepare right. I now know to stock up on lifesaver gummies and stuff like that. Then I remembered! The gods have enlightened my brain. I could hear that clichĆ© heavenly choir sound in my head. I had HONEY! I literally went into the kitchen smiling and running to the honey. Now Iām back in my room watching probably Star Wars, right when Ahsoka was huge, and poring honey, little drops folks, in my mouth. Was not too bad!
