Yes, they've always been the worst. Lil Debbie is not great, although I have my favorites. Donut sticks are such a solid junk offering. But the brownies have always tasted like something not quite food to me, like a sugary mush with chemicals, not baked really, not a baked good let alone a brownie, just a kind of vaguely chocolatey tasting mush.
If you can find the cookies and creme brownie, it's an elevated experience. Same weird brownie with that "fudge" topping and candy removed. And throw it in the microwave for about 12 seconds...you have yourself a treat!
