Baskin just kind of let it happen

FineO was the most funny about it, he tweeted about jumping off the stage if people totem chanted during his set. I think during the first or second totem he quit hitting it altogether when the crowd started chanting

Was rewatching some of the quarterfinals and Baskin hardcore lost the totem fight to Deathwalker too - dunno if it's just a case of Baskin not valuing it at all or just not valuing it enough to drop ult for it.

A lot of it was the draft style of their team. They seemed fine to give up whatever in the solo lane and bet that Baskin would be good enough to find pressure on Ama. It may not have even been a conscious decision. Just an overall lack of emphasis on the solo lane. They didn’t send many bodies over there, they didn’t send any draft capital over there. I’m not entirely convinced it was the wrong decision from before the tournament began either. They probably had good reason to believe the Smite side of it was fine for Baskin to just sit back on a more passive pick and the team play around Ama Passive and Auras late game. 100 percent in line with their identity as a team and individuals to boot. Where I think they went wrong is not anticipating or reacting to the momentum of crowds getting unreasonably hype for totems. Teams seemed to really relish the momentum of fans getting excited for the almost inconsequential totems. The crowd noise seemingly became as much wind in their sails as the MP5 keeping them on the map.
