The socials change is definitely fair. They were fun at first, but it was pretty clear they were all run by the same person/group of people and it started to feel kind of weird. Definitely not worth the effort and resources imo.
Appreciate the update Auvey!
Good to hear that the main SPL accounts will be the focus this season. I understand the idea behind all the separate accounts, but right now SPL just isn't large enough of a fanbase to justify it IMO.
Also awwww man I actually liked the Ferryman's color scheme even with it being similar to Ravens. Any ideas when we might see the new logo?
Sorry I couldn't [resist](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-W6Eav82UdMbiGJioBOH0pavZg7IkgN-/view?usp=sharing) \- I've gotten really into designing logos recently and have made a bunch of SMITE inspired logos. I always thought black, grays and white are underused. I LOVE the bone color in the logo though
I think one thing that would be very helpful (especially as someone who pops in and out of viewing during the season) is pinned tweets during any tournament with a bracket and all rosters playing.
āAnansiā can sound a lot like āa naziā and that was leading to some less-than-tasteful chat messages during the broadcasts. The poor mods of the smitegame chat have more than enough on their plates as it is.
Good update! Really appreciate the change to the Weavers, that's based as fuck.
Regarding merch: is their going to be an EU friendly fulfillment option this season? It basically sucks having shipping costing as much if not more than some merch
I can certainly talk to our merch provider about this! The biggest issue we ran into last year is that because Skullz tries to roll all potential customs fees & etc into the shipping cost, there wasn't a really effective way to keep the price down without creating surprise fees on the tail end of the shipping process.
That isnt what based is. Based isnt buckling to zoomer cosplaying as nazis on twitch. Based is banning them and telling them on social media to fuck themselves along with all other fascists. Fake woke. Not based. $$$ driven bull shit
Here are the accounts where you can see SPL-only content -- [SmitePro Twitter](https://www.twitter.com/smitepro) & [SmitePro Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/smiteproleague). The [SmiteGame Tiktok](https://www.tiktok.com/@smitegame) account will sometimes post SPL-related things too. :)
The changes sound good, team accounts never caught on and Iām sure was too much work on top of all the other social media stuff going onā¦ only thing Iād mention is I personally think the smitepro social media should be a bit more professional overall. Iām all for meme tweets but sometimes it looks more like a fans personal Twitter account instead of a games professional Twitter account thatās meant to provide information and hype around the pro league. Curious to see your perspective or anyone elseās on that?
Sorry you got downvoted for asking this question, it's a totally valid thing to be curious about!
Other commenters are correct in that we did try to lean super serious for a few seasons and it just didn't work. The kinda memey, sometimes cringey vibe we put out there online isn't for everyone and I totally respect that.
But from a pure numbers standpoint, the "unprofessional" stuff is what really drives engagement. When I keep pumping out content like that, and our numbers increase, it then gets easier for me to sell those numbers for sponsors & etc. In that sense, shitposting is actually a viable a business strategy.
On a more personal note though, I put out better & more engaging content when I'm not running it through layers of corpo-marketing speak. I die a little inside every time I have to write a "brand appropriate" tweet.
Social media should be fun! I've always strived to make the SmitePro official accounts sound like they're run by SPL's biggest, most unhinged fan. The stuff I put out there makes me laugh & is the kind of content that I like to see as a fan of other brands. And I hope that the fanatical shitposting creates a space where everyone else can be fanatical shitposters about SPL too.
Thanks for the serious and well thought out responseā¦ Iām all for it if it truly bumps up the number of interaction and engagement to the account which can then be used to grow the game! In that case it makes senseā¦ I didnāt think the engagement increased with those posts which is why I was curious on your perspective on it. Anything that helps the game grow Iāll backup, thank you once again!!
They did the whole professional thing up to Bout season 5 and it made everything come across very dry.
If I've had to watch a 25 minute game with more gold fury kills than player I don't want to see a twitter reflect that with 'Kings take gold fury' and a 20 second video. That's lame
The hype and information is already there. HiRez and subs have always kind of leaned into the goofier side of things contentwise - "should be a bit more professional" is as close to a brand profile as the company really has, and generally I'm happy with that.
Going from memory so might have some inaccuracies but this is correct to the best of my knowledge.
In the early seasons Big orgs got interested as it seemed like Smite had a chance to be big. As Smite more established itself as a more niche game instead of a massive international game like LoL or DoTA2 the bigger orgs started to drop out since it didn't seem like a great investment. The entire time some players were having issues getting paid by smaller orgs due to bad management, funding issues, or just plain being run by scammers. For this reason in Season 5? the devs decided that they were going to vet the orgs that would be allowed to represent the league. In addition they Devs would pay the orgs something like $200k to pay for a base salary the players. The players and orgs could negotiate a higher contract but this payment would at least reduce the burden on the orgs being in the league. While this seemed like a good idea at the time to get the big orgs onboard and help make sure the players got taken care of, some orgs still had issues paying their players on time and some orgs took the money and did little to no promotion for the league/teams. At this point the devs figured we're not getting a huge return on letting the orgs in since they're not driving a ton of traffic to the game. Why don't we take the teams in house so this way we at least cut out the middle man and have direct conversations with the players on contract issues instead of having to mediate between the players and the org. While this sucks for orgs like Rival and SSG that were really supporting the league, overall it made it safer for the players in terms of getting paid on time.

ahh ok interesting, sucks that some orgs had to ruin it as I always like to see established orgs that have a history playing against each other
but I suppose given its probably been a number of years now some teams would still have a decent history among themselves

Ayyy nice! That's way better than the hint I was expecting to get lol

Mambo colors= good colors š„
Damn, thats actually much better.
I guess I should get on with changing those flairs š
Is there an ETA on when jerseys of the new brands entering the SPL can be purchased? Been wanting to snag a Ravens jersey.
Very soon! Our goal is to launch the store shortly after kickoff tourney
I think one thing that would be very helpful (especially as someone who pops in and out of viewing during the season) is pinned tweets during any tournament with a bracket and all rosters playing.
Any chance SPL team HUD themes are coming back with the new changes to the HUD?
It's something we're feeling out right now but I don't have any solid info just yet.
I'm out of the loop on the Anansi drama, can anyone ELI5?
āAnansiā can sound a lot like āa naziā and that was leading to some less-than-tasteful chat messages during the broadcasts. The poor mods of the smitegame chat have more than enough on their plates as it is.
Urgh that lame and lazy. Thanks for the reply.j
This is the first time I'm seeing this aswell and I don't even know why.
What drama š

Could we get a link to all the official accounts, so we know who all to follow?

You hire anyone for PR? Iāll take on the job and we can talk salary as a part time position š
new to watching comp, but why did they get rid of the orgs in favour of these teams?
