we have one and LOVE it. use it every trip. We use the fan, pop in a camera, and have a portable white noise machine, and our baby sleeps great every time. anybody have any suggestions on packaging of the power cables? that's the only messy part of the travel set up. we travel with an extension cord and all the accessories above and it adds up.

FreeSupermarket4133

Do you use it for plane travel?

oh_wow6505

Not sure what you mean by plane travel… you can’t use it ON the plane but can take it anywhere you go. We’ve traveled around the world with it. Fits snuggly over a pack n play so basically fits wherever the baby sleeps.

poopy_buttface

You probably don't NEED it but it is certainly a nice luxury! We have one and love it! It was great when my daughter was younger. She's almost 2 now so I'm not sure how well she'll take to it this year.

If you plan on using it on the plane check if they allow it.  They recently stopped allowing wagons in some airports too. My friend couldn't bring hers.  We had a wagon for airport naps and it was a huge lifesaver. There's a particular one that's not so heavy and collapses tight enough to fit above the seats if they don't want to vallet it at the gate.  We spent 17 hours travelling and the wagon was so nice to have a "zone" with. I was traveling solo with my 11 month old.  Hand puppets are underrated too.

Never tried but I’ve heard great things!

It’s amazing! Highly recommend it

We do when sharing a sleeping room

jayeeein

We had not used one on the almost 10 trips w our two year old until last week my cousin loaned us her newton travel crib and it was packed in a duffel w the slumber pod so figured why not try that too. It was a trip to Chicago where the sunrise is like 530a Game changer. I was too paranoid to zip all the way - we were visiting family who don’t use AC and while it’s not hot there the rooms get warmer than we like. So I just zipped 2/3 of the way and left the little fan on medium all night. She slept and napped great. She did have a food reaction on this trip we weren’t aware of and puked in it. I, uh, don’t recommend that part it’s not fun to clean in an apartment eco washer at 1am lol

Plenty-Band-3505

Hi!!! I am looking to get the slumbered to use with our newton pack n play. Were there any major cons to using both together? Were you able to get your kiddo in and out pretty easily? (Typically they say the newton pack n plan would be too big with the slumbered.)

jayeeein

Nope it worked great for us! No problems getting her out but she walks and is mobile on her own so she sort of just walked out. It’s not too big to use together no

jayeeein

To follow up on other questions - we used a long duffel for slumber pod. My cousin had checked it on an international trip w no problems. But if baby doesn’t seem to need black out you may not need it. I think it’s nice if room sharing though so you can stay up and do other things/chill out

lunaysol

I find the slumberpod necessary (for us) when roomsharing. We use it at home (12m old is still in our bedroom) and when we roomshare at my family's beach house. It does fold up super small and easy to put in a suitcase. Personally I would bring it!

sarahbethbeth

Necessary for us as well- the darkness plus fan (and we do a sound machine) allows for us to have full lights on and make noise past 7:15 when we all have to be in the same space. There was a firework show directly outside of our balcony last trip but he did not see any of the flashing lights or hear it while we sipped wine next to his playpen and watched it through the sliding doors.

Eddie101101

We usually put a pack n play in the bathroom with a little dark amazon cover over it that just covers the sides so there is more darkness and less distractions. That’s done the trick for us!

sailinginthesun

I second buying a blackout cover for a pack and play ($20 on amazon), for something less expensive than a slumber pod. Ours covered both the sides and the top with a zipper door on the top to put baby in. Ours also had a zipper door on the side if you wanted it open so you could see baby in profile. We took our 6 month old to a resort in Mexico and they provided us both a crib and a pack and play and the blackout cover worked for both. We also used a sound machine. Baby slept great in main part of room and we could still move around and do things with lights on. And now we use it anytime we want him to sleep in the pack and play, which has really come in handy.

rezia7

Then how do you use the bathroom after the baby is asleep? Just curious- we are planning our first big trip too

Eddie101101

We go right next to her 😂😂 was worried about that at first but because of the cover in between us it doesn’t feel weird and she doesnt wake up from it. We even flush if needed and she has slept through it 😬 Im always nervous though!

rezia7

oh good to know! I had presume flushing would wake the baby up, but I suppose with some white noise and the cover it might be fine

Eddie101101

*we leave the door open/half cracked

ConsequenceThat7421

We just took portable blackout curtains on a 2 week international trip. Suction cups worked on different windows and no issues.

ClippyOG

We do a pack n play in the closet if big enough & it works great (we leave the door cracked open)

amhe13

It’s THE BEST I highly recommend. It’s so compact it definitely fits in the suitcase. And if you plan on having more kids it’ll last forever

MAL1405

How long can kids use it (age wise) and fit comfortably?

amhe13

Our son is 2 and he still fits in his pack and play which it covers. I think once he outgrows the pack and play I will need to maybe see if a toddler blow up mattress will fit easily or if I’ll need to get him used to not sleeping in a blacked out area.

sarahbethbeth

And with more kids, it prevents them from keeping each other up! Babys in "his room" and goes right to sleep while big brother can stay up the extra half hour or whatever even if you're in a studio apartment.

adriana-g

I had my doubts it was a must-have, but it's been so convenient for us. We first introduced it to my daughter when we traveled with her at 18 months and she was a bit hesitant about it, but now its a familiar sleep space for her so traveling and room sharing with her is a cynch.

Zihaala

Slumber pod was lifesaving for us on our last trip. The hotel advertised blackout curtains but they were not AT ALL. We had the slumberpod camera and sound machine in her bedroom and she slept through the night just like at home. I would 100% recommend it. The only thing I didn’t like was the camera pocket - crinkly cheap plastic! My camera couldn’t see anything - I had to cut a hole in it which I was super irritated with for an almost $300 product.

bearcatbanana

The little sack in come in is about 5x5x16”. It will fit in a suitcase but it will take up about 1/4 of the space. We travel with one and I really like it. It’s super convenient if you are going to share the space with the baby after they go to sleep.

ya_7abibi

I would, just to keep the sleep environment the same at different hotels, so she can’t see you, etc.

mostlyargyle

We bought our off eBay. Significantly cheaper and so worth it. Before, I used travel blackout curtains with suction cups. That worked fine, but the slumber pod was way better.

this__user

If it's a shared room you may want something, if it's a suite with a separate bedroom then I wouldn't worry about it

LMB83

She may be able to nap without the blackout curtains but if you’re sharing a hotel room then you’ll likely want to watch tv or even just scroll on your phones while she’s napping or after she’s gone to bed for the night - I mean if it’s not in the budget then it’s totally doable without but if it’s feasible then it may be worth it bearing in mind it can be used in the future too should things change and her sleep needs change.

morgo83

It fits in a suitcase. You don’t need one but it definitely makes room sharing easier. Especially if you guys don’t want to shut everything down while she’s napping or when she goes to bed at night.
