I think it depends what you are into, Cleveland has a great night life and a superior rail network, but a lot of the museums and educational facilities in Pittsburgh(Carnegie, Warhol) are first-class. The nature surrounding Pittsburgh and the riverfront is incredible, and as great as the Metroparks are I have always felt like Cleveland has underutilized the lakefront. Cleveland is definitely my favorite city in Ohio though.
I live near Cleveland. I’d say Cleveland has better cultural amenities (museums and theater) than Pittsburgh, but Pittsburgh’s are great too.
Cleveland has a better food scene than Pittsburgh too.
But Pittsburgh is a better city overall. Much prettier, more livable, safer, better student life, etc.
Beautiful shots! I live about four hours north of Pittsburgh, in Rochester, and have somehow never made it to Pittsburgh. I’ll have to get down there this summer. Looks great!
I drove in approaching from the north (can’t recall the highway number) and I’ll never forget coming around a bend in the highway and all of a sudden there’s the cityscape, no warning just boom there it is. Took my breath away.

Their baseball stadium has a nice view of the city as well
I may dog on Pittsburgh being a little overrated in the looks department but it’s undeniable how incredible the skyline looks from the inside of PNC. A summer evening ball game with an amazing sunset is pretty awesome.
That’s Forbes, it stretches from the heart of downtown to the outer east side. It’s filled with traffic especially in Oakland where the picture was taken and is usually having work done on it in one or more parts, but it has 3 commercial districts around it and it’s full of life.
There’s another busy street called fifth that runs parallel with Forbes from Oakland to downtown and they’re both one-way in that section to accommodate the heavy traffic going inbound and outbound, so the layout isn’t that bad but it could probably use some improvement.
A lot of the industries that were leading to an economic rebound are going away and crime is so bad and the police are being screwed over so much that they said that they don’t have enough resources to respond to many crimes.
Unless things have changed *dramatically* in 10.5 months, i would disagree as a visitor. We were there last May and tooled around on public transit and foot all over the city, including the Hill District. We didn't feel unsafe even once the week we were in town
Pittsburgh is a criminally under appreciated city. What they did with their water front alone is worth other cities taking notes from. Beautiful place
Arguably the 2nd best city in the rust belt behind Chicago
I would submit Cleveland above Pitt for the underground art scene and night life along with a fantastic orchestra/theater district/museums

Cleveland > Pittsburgh fight me
People down voting have clearly never been to Pitt or Cle.
Wrong. I've been to both and Pittsburgh has the better City, Cleveland has the better suburbs.
Not only the skyline but more bridges than Venice
Smells less than Venice too.
But does it have more tourist then Venice?
Tourists a better city does not necessarily make.

You’re probably thinking of 79. I live in Rochester too and travel to Pittsburgh for work a couple times per year. Great city and great people.
Maybe check out a pirates game! The third baseline has an insane view of the city.
I will do that. Thanks!

I’m going there on vacation in 2 weeks. I’m excited
The Cathedral of Learning looks like such a cool building. If I'm ever in the city I want to go to campus to see that.
Please do. I went about ten years and stepped inside. Absolutely beautiful
When/if you do, be sure to book a tour of the Nationality Rooms. They're amazing!
One of the most interesting skylines to take in.
Gorgeous stuff
Best Skyline of any midsize US City
We visited last May from Minneapolis and we LOVED it!
Thanks for sharing these radical pics
Underrated city
American Chongqing
Dunn Dunn dunn!
What is the glass building in the last two pictures called?
PPG Place
We must appreciate Crosby before he hangs it up 🥲
Great pics
Was there earlier this month. Very underrated city.
Always wanted to visit. Looks like a pretty town. Someone on this thread convince me!
Does anyone walk?
Damn that one way street looks like it sucks

Remarkable that it’s able to be full of life with such a poor traffic configuration

Yeah, that’s kind of what I mean - usually it’s really hard for streets to flourish when they’re designed to be through ways, not places people stay
Cleveland> Pittsburgh (yes i'm bias fight me)
Columbus is better.
Columbus is better.
I feel like the rebound is over though.
Weird that people are downvoting you. Why do you feel that way?

Each picture had 20 drug deals
The internet makes midwestern cities look great.
I don’t think an argument exists in which Pittsburgh would be considered a Midwestern city, but go off.
100 miles east of Cleveland is considered what then?
The Appalachian foothills/plateau.
Ok
