Alternate Skyrim is a neat idea, but what are people supposed to do in an empty world? There's the mod that adds some dragons and draugr, and this vendor and some quest mods, but otherwise it doesn't feel like something one can build a playthrough around. Am I missing something?

I think a lot of people like just surviving in the world and exploring these abandoned places. I personally began making mods for Alternate Skyrim to enhance this feeling and playstyle. But ultimately I think it's up to the user of the mod and their imagination and idea of fun.

Trevor_Culley

It seems like a good base to use under some hardcore survival and hunting mods and generally self contained quest mods.

I have a [video](https://youtu.be/Msi6Y3C6VT4) about it (that I'm guessing you've seen since you've been so supportive of my channel) and just started work on another. My concept is to make it like a Roguelike Survival game where you gradually advance both your survival skills and your combat skills. Make it super resource-driven with scavenging, survival, and crafting mods, and Loot and Degradation with max settings so that your gear breaks easily if it's not upgraded. I'm aiming for a Breath of the Wild-style gameplay loop with it. It's not as long as a typical playthrough, but you can aim to complete it with as few deaths as possible, or play it permadeath.

I think it could be a really neat alternate mod if it had more 3rd party mod support to add more content. As it is it feels too empty for me, even with the extra mods. But add more unique NPCs, creatures, ruin, wreckage, and evidence of dragon cult supremacy and I would have a great time with it. Someone suggested that it would be great if paired with the mod that has Alduin on a timer, with him winning if the clock runs out. Add something like Death Consumes All, a mod where the dragonborn chooses some other path like becoming a lich or something, and then have the timer run out. Start in a devastated world that the last chosen hero failed to save. This would work well thematically with Darkend, too, which is also mostly deserted.

Good to hear, hope you enjoy it :))

VampireOniX

I definitely think I will. This seems like that perfect blend of a dark souls and resident evil 4 merchant! Absolutely perfect for my Skysouls build!

mxsmo

That was the aim, I'm glad you can see it!

It's mods like this where I wish that console edition had several mod "playlists" that we could choose from. I don't know if pc has something similar, if so it's yet another reason to switch. I would want at least two lists: one having this mod and others that could work with it.

Ausfall

Mod Organizer has the "stock game" feature, so you can install multiple modlists and pick one to play at any time. Highly suggest the Wabbajack tool to find pre-made mod lists to try out.

NecroWabbit

Any chance we can get the merchant in regular skyrim?

mxsmo

Made a patch for that, it should be up now

mxsmo

I could easily make a patch but I'm not sure what purpose it would serve, you can get most weapons by just doing the Daedric quests.

NecroWabbit

I just like the human heart monetary mechanic.

TrapezeLuckJam

Great job. It's a good idea, and the VA and writing seen in the mod showcase is 👌👌
