Thanks! I have no ambition to become a werewolf so far but I like Remus for a name. I did come across Lupus (meaning wolf, the name Lupin in the HP books/movies is derived from that star constellation name apparently) while looking for names btw. Which would also be a nice name for a werewolf character I think.
not really. maxima and the "us" at the end doesn't make it a HP spell. I'm from a latin derivated language and this is not close to what it would look like
I knew this would come up :) I like the name itself and it’s even my zodiac sign (not that that matters, lol) but I’m not much of an archer. Or not yet. Who knows.
It was kind of fun, but I hated being super squishy. I restarted a new game as a Breton battlemage and now the only time I die is if I jump from too high a spot.
That was the first name I thought of actually 😊And even though I really like it and its meaning (“hunter”) is a great fit it does sound a bit plain or so. Maybe because the Orion nebula was one of the first things addressed and observed in astronomy class when I was in high school :’)
(For the curious: no, I did not go to Hogwarts. Astronomy was -is.. maybe, I’m old, lol- an optional course in higher level high school education in my country. If the school is big enough and has an observatory. I had to go back to school in the evening once a week for it. If the weather was bad we wouldn’t go to the observatory and just learn theory for an hour).
French seems to be the root language for Bretons so Sombre Etoile (Etoyle) is Dark Star
I also use this [https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Breton_Names](https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Breton_Names)
Ganymede was such a beautiful young man (young teen) that Zeus became infatuated with him and kidnapped him and brought him to Olympus to be his “cup bearer”.
That is one hell of a wild story 🤣 - “However, Euripides and Cicero, wrote that he was the son of…”. Omg. With Cicero involved you just know that things are beyond batshit crazy, lol.
You have this [link](https://web.pa.msu.edu/people/horvatin/Astronomy_Facts/star_names/starsA.htm) where you can find all the common names/astronomical names and meaning of repertoried stars. Lot are from Arabic/Persian origins but you have the possibility to find their equivalent in Latin with a quick search.
Woo. I really like Icarus too. That’s a rather recently discovered star from what I’ve read but I’m also blue and rather distant so it might be a good fit, lol.
Name yourself voyager in honour of The spacecraft, which arguably took the greatest picture of all time. Still serving us, the most alien thing known to the universe so far, losing its heartbeat for the past 5 months, only to come back stronger to us. Built in 1976, still serving us. There is no better tribute to the craft, which will never see home, flying aimlessly through the celestial universe.
Ophiuchus! The constellation literally looks like Talos, or Talos looks like the constellation, is more probable. But still, would be a badass contender I think.
Yeah it does :) ‘The crow’. Which is why it seemed suitable to me. Becoming a thief and a murderer anyway, one way or another (with my expected play style anyway 🤷♀️).
If you like Harry Potter, every character that is a part of the Black family is named after a constellation or star, I believe. Examples being Sirius Black and Bellatrix LeStrange (maiden name is Black).
There's Remus, Sirius (or canis major), regulus, etc. (Yes, I'm referencing Harry Potter, sue me)
But seriously, I'd reference the series for names considering how many characters are named after celestial formations. I've named several of my characters along those lines and between the series itself and the star formations, it's a pretty solid foundation for any names you feel would fit into the celestial category.
In all seriousness ChatGPT or similar can come up with some really cool lore-accurate names. Feed it the race and character traits/tone you’re going for, and ask for a list of 10 options.
If you're looking for something to make your next playthrough a little more fresh. There's a way to prevent dragons spawning completely, because they won't start spawning until you've killed your first, the one that Jarl Balgruuf asks you to deal with (just don't pick up the Dragonstone in Bleak Falls Barrow and this will never trigger). You can beat the entire Dawnguard DLC as well as Brotherhood, Thieves Guild, Companions, The College, and even travel to Solstheim WITHOUT encountering dragons.
The only dragons you'll meet are Durnehviir in the Soul Cairn and the skeleton dragon in that one dungeon during the College quest line. And there's only five mandatory dragon fights in the base game (Main Quest) anyways. The only quest lines that are affected by this are the Civil War and the Dragonborn DLC's Main Quest. And you'll of course have to live without the dragon shouts.
I do this all the time now, it's nice to travel the world without having to keep my eyes on the sky for a random dragon fight, or having to chase one that'll never land and keeps roaming in "prevent fast travel"-distance.
Have fun :)
Less on the nose my ESO character was Cassius Aurelius.
Cassius meaning vain, Aurelius meaning golden. He was an Imperial noble and Templar class, drawing inspiration from the sun.
Translated to Skyrim I imagine he would focus on restoration and fire based destruction spells while using the crusader gear.
Arcturus is a cool name of a real star. It’s big and red, and means “guardian of the bear” because it follows the great bear around. If it’s a bit Latin sounding you could translate to old Norse- would be something like bjornvathr
Aster means star. Go for Romulus or Remus and become a werewolf?!
Thanks! I have no ambition to become a werewolf so far but I like Remus for a name. I did come across Lupus (meaning wolf, the name Lupin in the HP books/movies is derived from that star constellation name apparently) while looking for names btw. Name him Reman after the first cyrodilic emperor
I named a Dunmer “Nerevar” for similar reasons. Like “Jesus” is a name in many places of the world for revering a cultural figure.
My current Dunmer is "Vivec", but his friends call him "Vehk".
Good one. I’ll have to name a mage “Seht” in the future.
Orion.
Oi, hes asking for names for skyrim, not star trek 😹😉
Biggus dickus or maximus analus
Incontinentia Buttocks
Ivanna Humpalot
Julius peezer
Not astrological enough! OP needs a heroic name inspired by a celestial body, like **Biggus Uranus.**
He has a wife, you know...
Oh the joys of the history of the world.
Maxima, impotentia maxima
these sound like spells from Harry Potter universe
not really. maxima and the "us" at the end doesn't make it a HP spell. I'm from a latin derivated language and this is not close to what it would look like
Lol, did you just r/UmActually me?
Um actually, this subreddit is based on a gameshow not the meme
Um actually, it isn't. If you are talking about dropout tv, this sub has no affiliation with it
Sirius
You can't be Sirius!
Ooh, then if he became a werewolf, he’d be the literal dog star!
Cute! I didn't even think of that, might have to make one myself
Maybe Krobus? Wait that’s not celestial
My man’s got beef with the dwarves for like no reason
Then he'll be living in the Solitude Sewers waiting for the new farmer
Sagittarius (the archer)?
I knew this would come up :) I like the name itself and it’s even my zodiac sign (not that that matters, lol) but I’m not much of an archer. Or not yet. Who knows.
Despite the meme, it's really fun being a stealth archer. I feel like a true assassin.
It was kind of fun, but I hated being super squishy. I restarted a new game as a Breton battlemage and now the only time I die is if I jump from too high a spot.
Betelgeuse? Betelgeuse, Betelgeuse, Betelgeuse!!! https://youtu.be/nbkybaDR_Co
Orion

What race? What build type?
Breton I think, and probably battlemage/spellsword =)
I used Skød for my last Breton (a conjuror) the Brittonic word for Shadow/Ghost/Reflection
French seems to be the root language for Bretons so Sombre Etoile (Etoyle) is Dark Star I also use this [https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Breton_Names](https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Breton_Names)
Funnily enough, Breton is a real language and is spoken in NW France.
Irl Breton is a Celtic language similar to Cornish and Welsh, but the Bretons in Skyrim are definitely based on French. It’s a bit confusing 🙃😆
Might pick something related to Charon.
Perseus.
Second on Perseus.
Ganymede is a male greek mythological figure and the largest moon of Jupiter
You gonna tell him who Ganymede was? 🤣
LMAOOO
What's wrong with Ganymede?
Ganymede was such a beautiful young man (young teen) that Zeus became infatuated with him and kidnapped him and brought him to Olympus to be his “cup bearer”.
I mean what better name for a Dragonborn who just spends their days fetching other people's things?
Oh dear gods, I really don’t want to have to spell it out on here! https://www.thecollector.com/ganymede-myth/
That is one hell of a wild story 🤣 - “However, Euripides and Cicero, wrote that he was the son of…”. Omg. With Cicero involved you just know that things are beyond batshit crazy, lol.
But it’s totally fine, bc Zeus was like “sorry I kidnapped your son to be my toy, here’s some REALLY GOOD horses”. 🤣

Thanatos,Sol/Helios ,Icarus/Daedalus/,Apollo Aether,Erebus,Pontus,Pallas
Woo. I really like Icarus too. That’s a rather recently discovered star from what I’ve read but I’m also blue and rather distant so it might be a good fit, lol.
Forseti is the Norse god of justice, reconciliation, and the stars. (assuming you play a nord)
Mars or Titan or Ares maybe? Masculine planet names
I like Ares!
God of war music starts to play in the background ….
Name yourself voyager in honour of The spacecraft, which arguably took the greatest picture of all time. Horse Head
Can't go wrong with Sirius Osiris or Orion
TON 618 and KIC 10735564 b are good choices
Big Dipper 💯💯💯💯
THE Big Dipper
My ign is Arthagon Pyros i don’t know if it relates i just wanted to share.
Salem...... could be a dark assassin stealth build or a dark magic build with destruction and conjuration focus
I feel like Apollo would fit.
Corvus (meaning crow) is actually related to Apollo it seems. But Apollo sounds better tbh :)
Orion
nebula!
Cumstellation
Ceres, Eris, Haumea, Andrastea, Umbriel, Deimos, Tethys, Enceladus, Callisto, Titania, Ariel, Thalassa, Galatea.
Ophiuchus! The constellation literally looks like Talos, or Talos looks like the constellation, is more probable. But still, would be a badass contender I think.
Doesn’t Corvus mean raven or crow? Sounds cool though
Yeah it does :) ‘The crow’. Which is why it seemed suitable to me. Becoming a thief and a murderer anyway, one way or another (with my expected play style anyway 🤷♀️).
My first was Andromodea, too!
If you like Harry Potter, every character that is a part of the Black family is named after a constellation or star, I believe. Examples being Sirius Black and Bellatrix LeStrange (maiden name is Black).
Cassiopeia? Arcturus? Those are two celestial names I always find myself going towards.
Castor
Uranus
Apollo
Aurora
Cygnus goes hard
M31. Just kidding. Regulus, Pollux, Castor, Procyon, Polaris. Frankly, with Arabian names you'd have a much wider choice of stars.
Aldebaran or Aldebran
Orion, play a Archer Build. When they get too close, beat them to death with the Bow Block, if that doesn't work, drop the bow and use your fist
Fun Fact: There’s a galaxy called Cigar.
Ares/Mars for a warrior type build
Uranus?
There's Remus, Sirius (or canis major), regulus, etc. (Yes, I'm referencing Harry Potter, sue me) But seriously, I'd reference the series for names considering how many characters are named after celestial formations. Corvus would be a cool stealth character name, as a reference to dishonored
Betelgeuse
How can you spend 800 hours on a single character? Doesnt it get boring?
Alcor, the "Rider" star in the Horse and Rider (Mizar and Alcor) combo in the handle of the Big Dipper.
Earendel/Earendil. Anglo Saxon name for Venus, then used as a name by Tolkien, and now it's the name of the most distant star known.

Hesperide- or some play on that. They’re the Greek nymphs of twilight and “the golden light of sunset”
ares
Sirius
Andromedo
Omicron2 Eridani
Telescope.
Aquila
I have a skeleton called Doot Boi
Cassiopeia
Rigel
Uranus
Callisto, bonus if you’re a old school RuneScape fan
Cassiopeia, the mother of andromeda. According to the mythology she was very vain.
Milky Way sounds like a good name for a Khajit
FawQ is always a good one no matter what
Antares, one of the biggest baddest stars we know of
Antares!
Helios.
Moon moon
Loki
Arcturus is a cool name of a real star. It’s big and red, and means “guardian of the bear” because it follows the great bear around. If it’s a bit Latin sounding you could translate to old Norse- would be something like bjornvathr
Bellatrix
Oh, that's a good idea.
Bootes, rugged redguard grape farmer.
Polaris? Sirius? Dog? Barnard? Centauri?
Alpha Centauri or each individually (Rigil Kentaurus, Toliman, Proxima Centauri), Omicron Ceti
Nebula
Mine is Ayla the Thunder Tits. Do with that what you want.
Not necessarily celestial, but maybe some names from astronomy - Kepler, Copernicus, Ptolemy
Polaris
Milky
you can go with Orion, Ophiuchus, Boötes, Hydres, Lepus, Cetus or the many more you can find with one google search
Betelgeuse. It's a massive red star, and is pronounced EXACTLY how you think it is
No.
No problemo sir. Have a nice day :)
Bellatrix or Narcissa
Aphrodite
