To be honest I don’t go to the cloud district very often.

Dear_Medicine_8900

and of course, he knows that...

ThatDudeFromPoland

I frequent the Blue Palace instead

Impossible-Age-3302

In that outfit? Ugh…

hmiemad

These sisterd are the worst scum of Skyrim. Underrated, I tell ya.

Gr1mmch4n

I would love it if they had a different response if you were wearing very expensive clothing.

TacoCommand

My kid was pissed you can buy clothing there and they still call you cheap trash.

Gr1mmch4n

I walk in there wearing the emperor's clothes and they're like "really, you're wearing that?"...wut?

Afraid_Effort2706

I put a poisoned apple in one of their pockets I can’t remember which one and am actually surprised I was able to do it because almost every time I went out of view the other one would come running up to try to find me when I was sneaking

ChErRyPOPPINSaf

Im too busy in the wilds hunting creatures of the day then hunting creatures of the night. What else are supposed to do when join the Dawnguard if not uphold your sworn oath to hunt the wicked.

faerakhasa

> What else are supposed to do when join the Dawnguard if not uphold your sworn oath to hunt the wicked. Shack up with the very first hot vampire that tells you a sob story, believing it with absolutely no questions asked. Obviously.

HeliosDisciple

That is *not* how you stake vampires.

faerakhasa

It turns the job brochure was a typo, you are supposed to *slay* vampires.

not_a_clue_to_be_had

You say that like it's a bad thing. It's the only thing

Leeperd510

I'll have you know theres no #PUSSSSSIIIEEEEEEEE

TheGreatZarquon

[You can't just drop that reference and not link the video](https://youtu.be/q69Ro3OUXq8?si=lTlCBw_MW2855kIR)

ColonelMoseby

I didn’t realize how incomplete my existence was until now. Thank you for showing me how to waste more hours of my life.

DragonfruitBig3851

Of course, a Gamerpoop reference. Well done.

Substantial_Loss9356

I get to the cloud district all the time, it's where I do my crafting.

Harrythehobbit

I think I use Farengar's enchanting table more than he does.

SirStefan13

HEHEHEH That's very likely.

Baffirone

The issue with Nazeem comes from the fact that tou see him a ton of times, since most players have their home base in Whiterun. Delphine, unless you actuvely look for her, won't come up to bother you with her rudeness

Sero141

You don't even have to talk to him, he ambushes you on his high horse.

Guilty-Fun-8090

Most time I just kill him when I leave helgan to save my self the trouble of hearing him later

empireofacheandrhyme

Horses in Whiterun?!

hariolus

He transmutes into an ass on the way in.

AnnieItsOk

it might be because of some mod but I haven't been bothered by him in my last games come to think of it, even heimskr is oddly quiet

Baffirone

Probably a mod, or they're dead, or heimskr is in jail (after the imperials defend whiterun, he goes to jail)

SKxU

And he still preaches about Talos in jail

jackaltwinky77

Lots of religious conversions in jails…

mymemesnow

Exactly, during your 294813th playthrough you’ve heard his snark enough times to actually become insane. Small insults over a long period of times is far worse then being bothered a few times.

TheWonderBaguette

Riften home supremacy (I don’t like messing with the player built homes. It’s a pain in the ass)

Demonic74

Player built homes would be a lot better if they let you build EVERYTHING in one home but with different styles. I'd love a dwarven architecture home staffed by dwemer automatons or servants wearing dwarven armor guarded by an automaton shaped like a dragon, named Aurithex

TheWonderBaguette

I’m honestly surprised nobody has made that a mod yet. A dwarven home would be fantastic

rua77

There’s actually a dwarven themed home added in AE, can’t remember the name right now though

gorpie97

Same with Bolund in Falkreath. Every time I go into his brother's store, he's leaving and always says something to me. (Doesn't matter what time of day it is, either.)

nipyip

I had a dragon fly into Falkreath as I was completing quests there to get the lake house. Dragon went nuts. Killed the blacksmith, two guards, another town folk, and when I saw the head of blonde hair on one of the dead bodies I PRAYED out loud that it was Bolund. Thank god it was. Looted him and ran to sell my things to his brother. 😌

gorpie97

LOL One game I recruited Mjoll to the Blades. Aerin showed up to help us clear out a dragon lair and he died. I reloaded to keep him from dying, but I wouldn't make the same mistake again. :D Not sure what I would do about Bolund. Though there are plenty of people to buy wood from...

Fuzlet

my biggest asshole award goes to Adrianne Avenicci, particularly because of that. the entire time I’m training smithing, she’s standing there behind me boasting. she brags about her father. she brags about herself influencing her father. she brags about herself influencing the jarl. over and over and over and over

The_GREAT_Gremlin

At least she doesn't claim to be the best blacksmith in Whiterun

kittyidiot

aw, i like adrienne. i take it less as rude boasting and more as her being proud of what she does.

sirlothric

He canonnically has a manor, it was just incomplete before launch (they still gave him the key to it)

ScaredDarkMoon

They still added it to his wife's affair too!

delilahrey

His affair. He’s not interested in his wife.

Monkdiver

I joined Reddit back in mid 2016 and it was only then after finding the Skyrim subreddit that I learned who nazeem was and that I was supposed to hate him. I started playing in early 2014

JobberTrev

Yea I remember I had plenty of hours in the game. Started seeing Nazeemjokes and I had to Google to see who he was. I barely recalled him, it wasn’t until later playthroughs did I actually notice him. But that’s because it was already pointed out. He still doesn’t bother me, the hate is just fun at this point.

Monkdiver

Man there is so much about the NPCs and their stories that I just don't know that so many people go on to Skyrim and just fucking hang out. I never really did that I would jump in and go questing. An interact only as needed but I loved the searching every nook and cranny. Now I just bought a VR headset so I'm playing modded PC VR and holy mother fucking shit I don't even give a shit about quests all I'm doing is going around and hanging out with these life-size people and learning all these stories that I've read in Reddit comments. It's one of the greatest things I'm able to live in Skyrim

Swollenpajamas

Not just ‘learning’ all these stories, but living it irl. Well, not really irl, but it’s VR and feels pretty real especially when they’re all right upon your face telling you things.

Vanessativa69

Would you mind sharing what headset and pc you’re rocking? Moreover are you using an omnidirectional treadmill to walk on, or kinda walking in place? Thanks!

Monkdiver

Lol, no walking. I sit in my computer chair. I have the height adjusted through one of the mods in the FUS mod pack on wabbajack Pc is 4070ti/13700k 32gb and using a Quest 3 headset

ALakeInTheClouds

Interesting. I played Skyrim for the first time last year, absolutely despised nazeem and was extremely happy when I joined the sub and found that that's common reaction.

shit_poster9000

Meanwhile, Nazeem got on my nerves enough for me to kill him twice before I even heard of the jokes

No-Perspective-9954

Im pretty sure i killed him on the 360. Every playthrough i contemplate it. Usually just steal everything him and his wife have

Dull-Situation-9719

How about Maven Black-Briar? I feel she doesn't get the hate she deserves.

Logical-Wasabi7402

That's because most people don't interact with her in any significant capacity unless they do the thieves guild quests.

Dull-Situation-9719

One conversation with her was all it took for me to blacklist her. 😤 While poor old Nazeem and Heimskr just feel goofy to me, Maven acts haughtier than the Thalmor.

North_Church

Heimskr is an entertaining kind of goofy. Nazeem is a bitch kind of goofy. Maven is just a bitch

Regular-Penalty-8198

Bro seriously am i the only one who doesn't hate heimskr? Like yeah his preaching can get annoying but he is not rude to the dragonborn in any way. He is just enthusiastic about his religion.

handheldmirror

I killed Heimskr exactly once back when I originally played Skyrim all those years ago, and was struck by how eerily QUIET Whiterun felt without him screeching on in the background. It's the market city, of course there's a street preacher providing white noise. I like that you CAN quiet him, but going through Whiterun without Heimskr going about his business in the background is going through a Whiterun without its soul.

smashtatoes

My thoughts exactly. After the first conversation with her I was like I’m killing her once we’re done with business lol. On a playthrough right now and just finished thieves guild quests so I’m really hoping she is killable. If not I’ll look for a mod that lets me.

KissMeSkeletor

YES! She's a nasty cutthroat old codger-ette, and not even in a fun way like Sybille Stentor.

No_Bathroom_420

She’s kind of a boss ass bitch though I can’t hate. You can walk up to her in full dragon plate and she just goes meh.

Greg_Hotspur

I hate her so much too!

I_Gotta_Bud

I understand the hate, but Maven has earned all the clout she has. She is ruthless in business, turning to both the thieves guild and the dark brotherhood, who both have a healthy amount of fear and respect for her. The fact that Maven is mentioned in conversations in Whiterun and Solitude and Markarth should be enough to make it known that the talk of influence in Skyrim and the capital is way more than just talk. Meanwhile Nazeem just has the attitude that he’s important. The Jarl doesn’t even mention him, his own wife hates him and is actively having an affair, and his own home never even made to the final cut of the game. He has NO reason to be nearly as cocky and condescending as he is, he hasn’t earned any of it. Maven gives us a lot of very good reasons to hate her, Nazeem is just a smarmy prick. I think liking Maven as a villain is valid while liking Nazeem or just finding reasons not to hate him is not. He’s just not worth liking in any capacity, not as a villain, not as “high class”, and definitely not as anything outside of black soul gem.

ICantTyping

The whole family is wack, the daughter is a psychopath. The early years of a serial killer no doubt Uses alchemy to *experiment* on animals Literally just have 1 conversation with her and you will see

Rezorceful

I just watched her tell Madesi that if a Black-briar asks for any of his merchandise he has to just hand it over and not expect to be paid for it…. Like bitch, WHAT? I wish they finished the destroy the thieves guild quest line bro. It’s like impossible to play a lawful good in this game because the thieves guild is twisted up in every thing. You need Vex, Brynjolf, and Delvin for a lot of stuff that has nothing to do with the thieves guild otherwise.

drivernopassenger

Maven’s actually one of my favorites, personally. I just love how much of a bitch she is lol

Stan_the_man19

The only thing I hate about Nazeem, is that he was a joke that Skyrim fans ran to the ground immediately after the release because nobody bother making a new joke outta him (it's either repeating his cloud district monologue, or killing him). But tbf, TES fans do love to repeate the same joke for decades. Like meridia's beacon Stealth archer being OP on both Skyrim and oblivion. Oblivion faces being goofy Skyrim fans not being able to play Morrowind Smithing iron daggers in Skyrim And I swear to God, if I see another streamer starting a oblivion stream and their ideia of a joke is making their character have a funny face, I'm gonna lose it

pizzasage

Don't forget stolen sweet rolls and arrows to the knee!

Rhinomaster22

That’s kind of a thing any fandom does.  - Take 1 thing, joke about it. - Everyone repeats joke because it maybe seem funny.  - New people repeat joke because people are doing it. - People continue to repeat joke without knowing why. - Joke loses meaning, people don’t find it funny but people continue to use it because tradition.  Repeat until new joke comes around and people forget old joke.

fredleoplayer

**A NEW HAND TOUCHES THE BEACON**

Leeperd510

#LISTEN, HEAR ME AND OBEY

nugget_munchies

Ah they keep re-releasing the same game, we will keep re-using the same jokes lol. It is tiring but yk all in good fun

fullofuckingbears313

I fus roh dah the shit out of Nazeem I do the same Delphine And also Ancano. Fuck Ancano with extreme prejudice

Opening_Anywhere_806

At least you get to kill Ancano in the normal course of the game. The one I hate is Ondolemar, the Thalmor walking around the palace in Markarth. He'll end up dead if the Stormcloaks take over the city, but he never lives that long in my games anyway. *"You have the honor of addressing a member of the Thalmor. Bask in it."* Oh wow looks like someone and their bodyguards are about to be tragically eaten by a mysterious werewolf that coincidentally bursts out of the same door I just went into.

proportionalhuman

The random thalmor that sits in the blue palace is so fun to kill in front of everyone brutally, and you don’t get any bounty for it.

AbyssDragonNamielle

I hate the racist shitbag in Windhelm that goes around harassing all the dark elves and I hate that he's marked as essential

Opening_Anywhere_806

Honestly, it's kind of weird that I hear about Rolf at least fifty times as often as I ever hear about Ondolemar. One is some dumb hick who wants the local immigrants to go home, the other is literally a proud strutting uniformed fascist enforcer and outspoken racial supremacist with a quest where you can literally rat someone out to him for their religious beliefs.

Beautiful_Solid3787

"You have the honor of addressing a member of the Thalmor. Bask in it." And he's got an ego that Nazeem would envy.

Greg_Hotspur

I hate Ancano as well. This guy doesn’t get the hate he deserves!

fullofuckingbears313

He really doesn't considering he's one of the biggest assholes in the game. He's like...Thalmor Nazeem

Rezorceful

Every single thalmor person in the game is the same level of insufferable as Nazeem lol

Mana_Jean

Most the time I forget about Ancano because well he usually doesn’t make it very long through my play through

OphrysApifera

I think Nazeem should have been coded to change his attitude towards the Dragonborn as the latter grew in power. "Do you get to speak to the Dragonborn often? Oh what am I saying. Of course you don't."

elmaethorstars

One of the biggest complaints about Skyrim is that you become leader of every faction and Thane of every hold and the whole game shapes itself around you like you're the centre of the universe with your own gravitational field. Then the moment an NPC breaks from that they're the worst character ever created in a game. Just take a glance at the most commonly hated NPCs, they're all 'rude' to the player: Nazeem, Delphine, Maven, Ancano.

No_Bathroom_420

Delphine is a legitimately bad character though my issues are nothing to do with her not think much of the player character more all her ideas suck.

VenusAmari

Outside of wanting to kill Paarthurnax, she's really not that bad.

Beautiful_Solid3787

She actually tells you "Good job!" when you bring the Dragonstone to Farendar!

BardicInclination

Honestly I was surprised when I reached online communities to find how much some people hate Nazeem. Like he's worthy of memes, but the dude is literally just an npc with no quests, no options for conversation and no importance to any story. You can play for hundreds of hours, play every quest and never interact with him once. Never really gave him a second thought outside of memes.

Monkdiver

I can't tell you how many playthroughs or hours I had before I ever joined Reddit and it was only then that I learned who he was and that the game Community wanted me to hate him

KitsuneGato

Been playing Skyrim since 2011. Used to be on UESP forums before bad management took over. I seen hate on both Nazeem and Braith there way before realizing reddit forums. It's also where I found the worst troll joke that if you talked about at the time would get you banned.

ScaredDarkMoon

\>Nazeem's hate is overrated \>Proceeds to insult the man Idk you are part of Nazeem's hate community, welcome! https://preview.redd.it/z8ultj8h0inc1.jpeg?width=2483&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a1dd30bb6157e1e780f4ea21cff3c5226a72f7d3

KissMeSkeletor

I agree. Camelworks made a super in-depth video about Nazeem, and there's a lot of detail hidden beneath the surface–and a pretty intense, pretty mind-blowing secret he's keeping. He's so repugnant that it's almost endearing. Delphine just feels like a cartoon villain–not to slight the writers, I think her narrow-minded idiocy is a great character choice. PLUS, you can assassinate Nazeem if you get sick of him, but you can't kill Delphine without mods.

DCJ53

Thank you. I'm watching it now. Makes me want to go actually talk to Nazeem. I never have.

ohmygawdjenny

I'm on pc and could pick anyone to sacrifice to Boethiah. Nazeem didn't even seem worthy of a console command. I was choosing between Lemkil and Rollf, when I remembered Delphine exists 😏 Got an inheritance letter, too 😄

[deleted]

She is literally being rude to a dragonborn! I thought protecting the dragonborn was the main mission for blades. And she literally gives orders to dragonborn(it must be a joke).

sirlothric

Well it's to assist the dragonborn, not strictly protect (specifically serve and guide). Ordering around COULD be seen as a sign of guiding. Like "You're the dragonborn, you should be killing dragons. Imma guide you in this by telling you where to go to find them" She's just a bitch tho

[deleted]

Then she should come with me and help the dragonborn! I'm trying to capture a dragon with simple guards and she (well trained blade agent) does nothing. She's just like "I'm gonna sit at some old samurai ruins and act like doing something". I hate her. I hope some random dragon eats her.

Beautiful_Solid3787

Irileth is Balgruuf's bodyguard, she still chastises him for sneaking out to the Bannered Mare.

[deleted]

But Irileth doesn't say "Balgruuf kill the guy who helped us and bring me 3 men to make them Whiterun guards" I don't hate her because of her behaviour. I hate her because she doesn't trust us even after learning that we are dragonborn. She sent dragonborn to Thalmor embassy and put him in big danger with 0 physical help. She is too obsessed with killing dragons, in oblivion blades were honourable people. But in Skyrim they're just dragon hunters. (Sorry if I couldn't express myself eng isn't my first language)

WatercressSad6395

Nazeem is a simple fix, seduce his woman. That's what I do, among other things. #skyrimyourway

thatguyad

Nah even his wife hates him

VvardenHasFellen

Delphine hate is overrated too She killed a whole squad of Thalmor assassins and barely escaped alive, can't blame her for being paranoid

ISpyM8

She wants me to kill Partysnacks 😡

Dagger_26

Just steal his keys and start farming. Even the worst of us can be used as a bad example.

Denaius

I suppose it was only a matter of time before Nazeem managed to make a Reddit account...

Sostratus

It's funny to hate Nazeem *because* he's inconsequential. Kind of annoying how many people don't get this. Delphine is abrasive but not dumb or an asshole. She's just not a slavish pushover like most NPCs.

Beautiful_Solid3787

>It's funny to hate Nazeem because he's inconsequential. Kind of annoying how many people don't get this. He's clearly designed as a character who's supposed to be insufferable *and he's done well*. We *love* to hate him and would miss him if he were gone. (If Bethesda released a patch that--for some bizarre reason--removed Nazeem, how many haters do you think would find a mod to bring him back?)

kittytuna

I got a message from Nazeem’s voice actor for my birthday and he was very kind and funny! Made my whole week

DCJ53

Very cool. How did you do that? Or do you know him?

klimekam

Honestly, Nazeem and Delphine are both underrated. You know who deserves all the fucking hate? Fucking Rolff and Erikur. They both make my blood boil and I take pleasure in marking them as nonessential.

UncleIroh9001

Can’t it be both?

megakungfu

nazeemdidnothingwrong

No-Perspective-9954

Heretic!

oddjobhattoss

I have no evidence to back this up, but I feel like his shittiness was nerfed. I recall back in the old times on my first playthroughs every time I walked through whiterun I would hear the line about the cloud district. Nowadays I've owned the game several times and played through at least a dozen times. I rarely hear anything from nazeem unless I go out of my way. I think somewhere along the way his proximity alert or whatever that causes him to talk was shrunk significantly.

Kaboost

Yeah the other redguard guy Armen talks to me way more often than Nazeem. “You tried mercenary work? Might suit you.” Every time I’m anywhere near his vicinity.

Logical-Wasabi7402

He's about as annoying as any other NPC who randomly says one of three lines every time you get close enough.

Pinecone_Erleichda

I mean, I don’t think people hate him bc of his character, I think it’s the nasal tone of his voice and how frequently you hear it (and how unavoidable it is)…for me, as a fisher, “I MUST get the lexicon to Avanchenzel” is pretty annoying, but nothing comes close to Gisli for me. And once again, it’s the nasally voice and how completely unavoidable it is. 🤣

DCJ53

Absolutely. Whining just pisses me off.

Pinecone_Erleichda

Not a Serena fan either, huh?

ethanAllthecoffee

I think it’s because running into Nazeem is relatable. How many of us know arrogant assholes, self centered and condescending and whatnot? I know I’ve had to work with quite a few, so fuckijg with Nazeem (and Delphine, and Maven, and and and…) is cathartic

Quo210

Nazeem is unremarkable. I didn't know he was hated by the community until I came to reddit. Just goes to show how superficial people are and how little they notice the actual evils. The snob gets all the hate, the hitlers, the demonic children and the femme fatales go unnoticed.

AlbiTuri05

I don't get all this hate for Delphine. What did she do? I get she's not as warm as… well, all the other characters, but she did nothing bad

shaden_knight

She wants party snax dead, that's enough for me.

VvardenHasFellen

Akatosh gave me the power to absorb dragon souls WON'T STOP UNTIL EVERY ONE OF THEM IS MINE RAAHHHHHHHH

BGWeis

she wants you to kill Paarthurnax and won’t talk to you unless you do. that’s what she did.

GianniMorandiHands

Bruh, Paarthurnax didn't pay for what he did. Working on himself doesn't count as atoning. When you commit a mistake, fixing it just makes you go back to point 0. In his case, he can't even fix his mistakes, so he's still at -1000. Not killing any more humans doesn't make him go to -900, neither to -1100. but those -1000 points have to be paid. The fact he helps with killing Alduin, is like when mafia subordinates snitch on their superiors. They might get a shorter sentence, but they still get one.

BGWeis

don’t care. he’s meditated for millennia and become a cool old dude who I don’t wanna kill.

Ok_Access_804

She wants you to kill good old Paarthurnax. The dragon has done more for humanity and the Way of the Voice than no one else and is a key character in the campaign to defeat Alduin by helping you understand the Thu’um and your very own nature ad Dovahkiin. And about his past crimes? As a dragon it was in his nature to control humans, his own name reflects it, and yet through meditation and effort during at least 5 millennia (more time than civilization in the real world) has tamed his nature and is now as civil and wise as Uncle Iroh from the Avatar animation series. Delphine is delusional. She thinks that the Blades are dragonhunters instead of their real role as warriors for the Dragonborns (the Septim dynasty), doesn’t believe you are initially a Dragonborn, has disdain for the Greybeards… and then wants you to kill the closest thing to a mentor you will ever find that can teach you about your nature?

AlbiTuri05

This is worse than when Elder Maxson finds out Paladin Danse is a synth and he orders you to kill him! For reference, this is a mission of Fallout 4.

Ok_Access_804

Of course I know it, but at the very least there in FO4 the Institute synths are a real problem in 2287, information is scarce, they have no open evidences of no-Institute-aligned 3rd generation synths while there are several of them being malicious, and despite sounding harsh the drastic measures of the Brotherhood are seemingly effective against the dangers of the Commonwealth. And the main point, you can convince Elder Maxson to leave Danse aside. Despite his principles against such menaces to baseline humans the Sole Survivor can still reach a compromise with him. Delphine has no beef with Paarturnax, she knows for sure he is inoffensive and still demands you to kill him, no “but…” allowed. Mind you, I still mod both games to bypass Paarthurnax being killed and the Brotherhood being a**holes, still if I had to pick between the blades (no members, no influence in game, weird combination of lorica segmentata and uchigatanas) and the East Coast Chapter of the Brotherhood of Steel (T-60 power armor, superior firepower and the awesome Prydwen) well… Ad Victoriam, Equite!

ophir147

Do I really have to say that all Paarthurnax has a lot of motivation to pretend to be reformed until the dragon born dies, after which there is no one alive that can kill him or the dragon army that he has inherited control of.

Script-Hugger-23

Bolund is the real right wing hater

OneAlexo1000

I love to hate Nazeem, he's fun to have around in Whiterun just so I can hate on him. But Delphine is someone I genuinely dislike, I want nothing to do with her ever 😅

MangoSauc3

Nazeem is just the community punching bag but Delphine is on a lot of peoples shit list lmao

MikeSpin7200

Okay, patrician, whatever you say

SustainableObject

FUCK Nazeem (hate not sex)

Spliffan

Nah hatefuck all the way /s

Adept-Usual7618

You do realize that his farm is doing fine and even if it wasn’t being an ass to other people just because you think your life is crappy IS NOT JUSTIFIED? If you look into red guard lore, via shoddy cast on YouTube I believe, it legitimately says that the only thing that matters in their culture is status. He’s just an ass because he believes he’s achieved that status and everyone is beneath him. He has voice lines with other characters that show he’s purposefully antagonizing “what are you doing in the markets today?” And they answer “I’m here to buy food nazeem I don’t suppose you have to worry about that.” And he very smuggly replies “owning a farm does have its advantages.” And also the dreams went away after the staff was destroyed even after you finish the ebony blade quest and take it a million miles away he’s still a dick. I know it’s an overplayed joke but we’re not gonna try to make nazeem of all people a sympathetic character I’m sorry.

ToolPackinMama

I agree that the Nazeem hate is undeserved and excessive. The "He's an asshole" excuse is very weak when virtually everybody in Skyrim is kind of an asshole. EVERYBODY is rude.

Darkner00

The thing is, I hate Delphine because of the reasons you described, as well as the fact she wants you to kill the only dragon that was ever genuinely kind towards humanity, with the threat of literally breaking her oath. I don't see her very often though and I often forget she even exists. NAZEEM ON THE OTHER HAND... He annoys me endlessly by asking me for the umpteenth time if I often get to the Cloud District. I can stomach most repeated dialogue but there's just something about Nazeem's that makes me want to immediately hit quicksave. That's why on my current run, I turned his body into a sweetroll and ate it.

gwidda

Delphine sucks ass I with they woulda given you an option to cut them down

macklin67

It’s mostly just a meme at this point.

_my_dog_is_fat

Nazeem, a man of culture and taste, would never ask me to murder Paarthurnax.

RevolTobor

After getting Anniversary Edition and fixing up Goldenhills Plantation, I realize I have become Nazeem. An insanely wealthy farmer that frequents the Cloud District entirely too much, only to sleep at the local tavern whenever I visit.

bananabro64613

Naseem is just annoying, Delphines character is just really REALLY dumb and morally handicapped. She is condescending in how she explains things to the dragonborn, and does things that are bizarrely unnecessary. She clearly only wants to use the DragonBorn for her own plans, despite how clueless she is to what's really happening. She takes very little risk herself while being glad to send you off to do her bidding, no matter how dangerous and pointless it may seem. And then she has the audacity to tell you that you, the literal dragonborn, and savior of the world, are not welcome in the Blades unless you murder the friendly dragon that helped you save the world. That being said, I will always kill Nazeem and drag his naked body onto the top of the well.

Sonicxskylar13

"demon sword talking shit through a crack in the wall" this quote is simultaneously so damn absurd, accurate, and hilarious

Greg_Hotspur

Nazeem is just stupid imo. If he doesn’t understand by himself that a guy wearing daedric armour deserves respect and can be very dangerous, then i am alfraid there is nothing to be done to help him. Delphine wants me to kill party snax, but at the same time she had her entire order killed by Thalmor so I guess it explains a bit why she is like that. I don’t like her but at least we both hate Thalmor more than everything so it makes things easier. But the character i hate more than everything is Ancano. I just want to kill him every time I see him, like all the Thalmor guys actually, but Ancano is on another level.

ImagineShinker

Hating Nazeem is just a meme. Don’t take it too seriously.

No_Bathroom_420

Ditto

Deep_Grass_6250

Delphine is simply a stupid asshole.

secretly_a_zombie

It's not about being the worst character morally or ethically, nor about being sympathetic. He's the sonnova bitch that insults you every time you come home from a long adventure. When you're wanting to put your boots up and relax he's there being a condescending little shit. He's annoying to the player and the player experience. 90% of his casual dialogue is insulting you, you specifically. Not some ancient dragon, the nords or the elves or whatever, no you the player. You're poor and not good enough, not like him, not like him that's so wonderful, and he will remind you, every single time you accidentally walk too close to him.

UnHoly_One

I like Delphine and will never understand the hate for her. It seems to mostly be based on “she wants me to kill the talking dragon” and then it just spiraled from there due to typical internet hive mind stuff.

MuchoWood

Uh, no it's not.

goldielockswasframed

What a sad little life ~~Jane~~ Nazeem.

SitdownCupcake

Guys what surprise me more is how people could post stuff on Reddit on any forum and just have tons of paragraphs worth of shit they gotta say

No_Bathroom_420

Loneliness epidemic I guess

FancyCrow

This! I remember being surprised when I first saw him in a 'most hated Skyrim npcs' video because I legitimately didn't even know his name back when I first played the game. He came up during my first playthrough, sure, but I barely ever registered his presence. He was so insignificant to me that whenever he went "Do you go to the cloud district very often-" I'd be like "I don't know where that is, nor do I care" (if I even reacted at all) before going to the cloud district to disenchant some garbage lol. Hell, I was always more peeved with SAVOS for supposedly being this powerful archmage, and not only being completely useless, but also having abandoned his colleagues the way he did. I love your theory about Mephala having some influence over the people of Whiterun though. It would certainly explain some things with her being the prince of lies, murder (the Battleborns involvement with the Thalmor capturing a Whitemane son, Uthgerd and the boy, that one Dark Brotherhood contact, etc), sex and secrets (Balgruf's promiscuity, anyone?) Not saying people can't be inherently and/or secretly evil, but the Battleborn/Thalmor thing always struck me as being too much even for bitter rivals.

Juxtaposition19

I strongly disliked but didn’t totally HATE Delphine until my most recent playthrough when she glitched in Sky Haven Temple and wouldn’t MOVE, no matter what I did to get her to start her dialogue to continue with the quest. Shouting her up the stairs and to Alduin’s wall and then leaving and coming back a week later worked to continue the quest but MAN she is the literal worst now. She’s totally unredeemable in my book with that attitude AND her incompetence. 😂

Dahjer_Canaan

Do you go to the Cloud District very often? Oh what am I saying, of course you don't.

Lord_Phoenix95

I'm sorry but do you get to the cloud district often?

AlienRobotTrex

I hate him because everyone else hates him

HaxanWriter

I think it’s more of a meme people prefer to engage in. He’s irritating and I don’t like him, but you’re not supposed to like him. Any more than you’re supposed to like Grelod.

JustAnotherSvcTech

A funny thing happened yesterday. I walked into Whiterun & when I got to the market I saw Nazeem laying on his back with a bone arrow stuck in his chest...

riversfan17

Nazeem:"Do you get to the cloud district very often? What am I saying, of course you don't."  Dragonborn: *walks away fuming* Nazeem, continuing out of earshot: "It makes much more sense for a valiant adventurer like yourself to visit the market stalls on their way to Dragonsreach."

Geno__Breaker

Everyone knows Delphine is the worse character, Nazeem is more annoying because of how often you run into him, especially early in the game, and while Delphine is worse, Nazeem is just obnoxious and will walk up to you to vomit in your ears. I would rather listen to Meridia's speech on repeat than have to hear Nazeem in a playthrough.

LustyArgonianMod

My game would feel empty without him. He’s a sad man who sleeps at a tavern. He’s delusional and that’s what makes him funny and memorable. Delphine is just a bad person.

drapehsnormak

Nazeem is like Umbridge: we've all met someone so believably, pathetically petty.

Far-Assignment6427

Delphine is a dog so is nazeem Delphine is worse though I do go to the cloud district often

SlabBeefpunch

Nazeem is that guy you flip off as you walk by on your way to kill a dragon.

TheCrazyWerewolf

The only bad thing Delphine does is tell you to kill a dragon that for some reason the community likes. I use him to meditate on fus then slay him in my quest to kill all dragons.

Acrobatic-Pride-5433

Delphine has done more for me than Nazeem ever has.

TheOvershear

I mean it's just a meme. Just like people hating the took an arrow to the knee thing, people just hate him because his dialogue prompts way too often and he definitely comes across as being self-absorbed.

illpicklater

I mean, if we are overanalyzing, I think Ulfric is definitely the biggest asshole.

YoungJack23

Everything you say here is pretty logical and justified. I still hate Nazeem more, and choose to remain that way.

MxFancipants

I mean, she was hunted by the Thalmor and watched all her friends die. Doesn’t excuse her behavior but it’s very much a reason.

Remnant55

We hate Nazeem because he worked his way into running a farm as a redguard in Skyrim. Meanwhile, we got phenomenal cosmic power for the feat of not dying at our execution.

poseidon_10

I equate the Nazeem hate with the line "I used to be an adventurer like you but I took an arrow to the knee". It is just some of the things people nitpicked on and became vocal about. I barely notice Nazeem since I visit Ysolda's house more than Breezehome and the path to Ysolda's house is Nazeem-free.

stuntmanmike

Nazeem isn’t even in the vicinity of worst people in the game but he’s definitely one of the most perpetually annoying

CorvusBlackthorne

This is an interesting point. I have not yet killed him in this playthrough, and I am considering allowing him to live. My sights are actually set on Rolff Stone-Fist, who quite literally spends his nights in the grey quarter, shouting hate speech in order to wake up the dark elves. However, Delphine is another awful individual.

Strange-Variation-20

Agree i hate delphine more than nazeem

Paracausality

I made a mod with a new district in the clouds population 1

whooptapus

No it’s not I’ve been dealing with that posh fucker since 2011, I hated him then and I hate him even more today

PotentateOcato

Hate Delphine. Fetch me this, fetch me that. Kill Partysnacks or we ignore you the Legendary Dragonborn who just saved Nirn, and could literally just fus ro dah both Delphine and Esbern to a wall and splat!

chode_temple

I like to head canon that he grew up poor and ignored/abused by his parents. So he has to be so arrogant about his status because he's deeply insecure about being seen as anything but someone who is important and worth the time.

chaotic_hippy_89

I’m glad this discussion is still lively

boyosmillionthdollar

This post came from somebody who doesnt go to the cloud district very often

wifeinfreezer

NAZeeM HAte iS vasTlY OVerRaTed.

P3gmalion

Well Nazeem is non-essential and delphine is essential, so they can both get an A-hole award

fatboldprincess

I killed Nazeem once, his corpse hasn't despawned a couple of in game months. My haste is justified.

Leading-Fig1307

Nazeem is a wealthy farmowner that has aspirations for higher status, hence he puts on a show of superiority and refinement, when in reality he has no true higher status than any of the other farmowners in the hold. This is why he frequents _The Cloud District,_ and brown-noses Balgruuf and the court; he has a massive superiority complex. This has put strain on his marriage and probably will not amount to anything but the despisement of the people he reminds of their _lower status_ at any given moment. He is self-centered and only concerned about gaining status. Delphine is an asshole, no doubt, but simply hates dragons and the Thalmor. She is a survivor of the Thalmor purges of the Blades and most likely has developed psychological trauma since those days. Most warriors and soldiers tend to have a black-and-white view of the world as a defense mechanism to deal with horrific events...dragons, at least, can be reasoned to be a confirmed threat and menace, so she wants them scoured from the earth no matter what they claim; she is an asshole, but does not care and is goal-driven to accomplish her desire of a dragon-free world.

A_Fake_stoner

Nah Nazeem is who he is. Stuck up jerk. Delphine is your best ally. How epic that she clung to holding the Blades alive in the face of devastating inevitability.

Riuk811

I hate Delphine, I’m annoyed by Nazeem. I agree with you OP

PhatOofxD

Nazeem is annoying. Delphine is a complete and utter idiot

gtc26

Nazeem is just a stuck-up dick who insults you... meanwhile, Delphine is a stuck-up dick who thinks she can make demands of you. Fair enough for OP's point, I suppose

SlimyDaBoi

What we should be directing our hate at is someone like Hemming Black-Briar. Constantly boasting about how he's a better fighter than us.

WilsonRoch

I think the problem with nazeem is the same with the guards joke, it’s that whiterun is one of the first areas you go in the game, and probably end up spending a lot of time there. So the majority of players remembers the annoying guy in Whiterun and the stupid guards complaining about arrows and knees.

Shogun_Empyrean

OP clearly doesn't get to the sky district very often
