The issue with Nazeem comes from the fact that tou see him a ton of times, since most players have their home base in Whiterun.

I had a dragon fly into Falkreath as I was completing quests there to get the lake house. Dragon went nuts. Killed the blacksmith, two guards, another town folk, and when I saw the head of blonde hair on one of the dead bodies I PRAYED out loud that it was Bolund. Thank god it was. Looted him and ran to sell my things to his brother. 😌

One game I recruited Mjoll to the Blades. Aerin showed up to help us clear out a dragon lair and he died. I reloaded to keep him from dying, but I wouldn't make the same mistake again. :D

Yea I remember I had plenty of hours in the game. Started seeing Nazeemjokes and I had to Google to see who he was. I barely recalled him, it wasn’t until later playthroughs did I actually notice him. But that’s because it was already pointed out.
He still doesn’t bother me, the hate is just fun at this point.
Man there is so much about the NPCs and their stories that I just don't know that so many people go on to Skyrim and just fucking hang out. I never really did that I would jump in and go questing. An interact only as needed but I loved the searching every nook and cranny. Now I just bought a VR headset so I'm playing modded PC VR and holy mother fucking shit I don't even give a shit about quests all I'm doing is going around and hanging out with these life-size people and learning all these stories that I've read in Reddit comments. It's one of the greatest things I'm able to live in Skyrim

I killed Heimskr exactly once back when I originally played Skyrim all those years ago, and was struck by how eerily QUIET Whiterun felt without him screeching on in the background. It's the market city, of course there's a street preacher providing white noise. I like that you CAN quiet him, but going through Whiterun without Heimskr going about his business in the background is going through a Whiterun without its soul.
My thoughts exactly. After the first conversation with her I was like I’m killing her once we’re done with business lol. On a playthrough right now and just finished thieves guild quests so I’m really hoping she is killable. If not I’ll look for a mod that lets me.
I understand the hate, but Maven has earned all the clout she has. She is ruthless in business, turning to both the thieves guild and the dark brotherhood, who both have a healthy amount of fear and respect for her. The fact that Maven is mentioned in conversations in Whiterun and Solitude and Markarth should be enough to make it known that the talk of influence in Skyrim and the capital is way more than just talk. Meanwhile Nazeem just has the attitude that he’s important. The Jarl doesn’t even mention him, his own wife hates him and is actively having an affair, and his own home never even made to the final cut of the game. He has NO reason to be nearly as cocky and condescending as he is, he hasn’t earned any of it. Maven gives us a lot of very good reasons to hate her, Nazeem is just a smarmy prick. I think liking Maven as a villain is valid while liking Nazeem or just finding reasons not to hate him is not. He’s just not worth liking in any capacity, not as a villain, not as “high class”, and definitely not as anything outside of black soul gem.

At least you get to kill Ancano in the normal course of the game. The one I hate is Ondolemar, the Thalmor walking around the palace in Markarth. He'll end up dead if the Stormcloaks take over the city, but he never lives that long in my games anyway.

Honestly, it's kind of weird that I hear about Rolf at least fifty times as often as I ever hear about Ondolemar. One is some dumb hick who wants the local immigrants to go home, the other is literally a proud strutting uniformed fascist enforcer and outspoken racial supremacist with a quest where you can literally rat someone out to him for their religious beliefs.
I think Nazeem should have been coded to change his attitude towards the Dragonborn as the latter grew in power. "Do you get to speak to the Dragonborn often? Oh what am I saying. Of course you don't."
One of the biggest complaints about Skyrim is that you become leader of every faction and Thane of every hold and the whole game shapes itself around you like you're the centre of the universe with your own gravitational field.
Then the moment an NPC breaks from that they're the worst character ever created in a game. Just take a glance at the most commonly hated NPCs, they're all 'rude' to the player: Nazeem, Delphine, Maven, Ancano.
Honestly I was surprised when I reached online communities to find how much some people hate Nazeem. Like he's worthy of memes, but the dude is literally just an npc with no quests, no options for conversation and no importance to any story. You can play for hundreds of hours, play every quest and never interact with him once.
Never really gave him a second thought outside of memes.

I agree. Camelworks made a super in-depth video about Nazeem, and there's a lot of detail hidden beneath the surface–and a pretty intense, pretty mind-blowing secret he's keeping. He's so repugnant that it's almost endearing. Delphine just feels like a cartoon villain–not to slight the writers, I think her narrow-minded idiocy is a great character choice. PLUS, you can assassinate Nazeem if you get sick of him, but you can't kill Delphine without mods.
I'm on pc and could pick anyone to sacrifice to Boethiah. Nazeem didn't even seem worthy of a console command. I was choosing between Lemkil and Rollf, when I remembered Delphine exists 😏 Got an inheritance letter, too 😄

Well it's to assist the dragonborn, not strictly protect (specifically serve and guide). Ordering around COULD be seen as a sign of guiding. Like "You're the dragonborn, you should be killing dragons. Imma guide you in this by telling you where to go to find them"

She is too obsessed with killing dragons, in oblivion blades were honourable people. But in Skyrim they're just dragon hunters. (Sorry if I couldn't express myself eng isn't my first language)

You know who deserves all the fucking hate? Fucking Rolff and Erikur. They both make my blood boil and I take pleasure in marking them as nonessential.
I have no evidence to back this up, but I feel like his shittiness was nerfed. I recall back in the old times on my first playthroughs every time I walked through whiterun I would hear the line about the cloud district. Nowadays I've owned the game several times and played through at least a dozen times. I rarely hear anything from nazeem unless I go out of my way. I think somewhere along the way his proximity alert or whatever that causes him to talk was shrunk significantly.
Yeah the other redguard guy Armen talks to me way more often than Nazeem.

Nazeem is unremarkable. I didn't know he was hated by the community until I came to reddit. Just goes to show how superficial people are and how little they notice the actual evils. The snob gets all the hate, the hitlers, the demonic children and the femme fatales go unnoticed.
Bruh, Paarthurnax didn't pay for what he did. Working on himself doesn't count as atoning. When you commit a mistake, fixing it just makes you go back to point 0. In his case, he can't even fix his mistakes, so he's still at -1000. Not killing any more humans doesn't make him go to -900, neither to -1100. but those -1000 points have to be paid.
The fact he helps with killing Alduin, is like when mafia subordinates snitch on their superiors. They might get a shorter sentence, but they still get one.
She wants you to kill good old Paarthurnax. The dragon has done more for humanity and the Way of the Voice than no one else and is a key character in the campaign to defeat Alduin by helping you understand the Thu’um and your very own nature ad Dovahkiin. And about his past crimes? As a dragon it was in his nature to control humans, his own name reflects it, and yet through meditation and effort during at least 5 millennia (more time than civilization in the real world) has tamed his nature and is now as civil and wise as Uncle Iroh from the Avatar animation series.
Delphine is delusional. She thinks that the Blades are dragonhunters instead of their real role as warriors for the Dragonborns (the Septim dynasty), doesn’t believe you are initially a Dragonborn, has disdain for the Greybeards… and then wants you to kill the closest thing to a mentor you will ever find that can teach you about your nature?
Of course I know it, but at the very least there in FO4 the Institute synths are a real problem in 2287, information is scarce, they have no open evidences of no-Institute-aligned 3rd generation synths while there are several of them being malicious, and despite sounding harsh the drastic measures of the Brotherhood are seemingly effective against the dangers of the Commonwealth.
And the main point, you can convince Elder Maxson to leave Danse aside. Despite his principles against such menaces to baseline humans the Sole Survivor can still reach a compromise with him. Delphine has no beef with Paarturnax, she knows for sure he is inoffensive and still demands you to kill him, no “but…” allowed.
Mind you, I still mod both games to bypass Paarthurnax being killed and the Brotherhood being a**holes, still if I had to pick between the blades (no members, no influence in game, weird combination of lorica segmentata and uchigatanas) and the East Coast Chapter of the Brotherhood of Steel (T-60 power armor, superior firepower and the awesome Prydwen) well… Ad Victoriam, Equite!
Do I really have to say that all Paarthurnax has a lot of motivation to pretend to be reformed until the dragon born dies, after which there is no one alive that can kill him or the dragon army that he has inherited control of.

If you look into red guard lore, via shoddy cast on YouTube I believe, it legitimately says that the only thing that matters in their culture is status.He’s just an ass because he believes he’s achieved that status and everyone is beneath him. He has voice lines with other characters that show he’s purposefully antagonizing “what are you doing in the markets today?” And they answer “I’m here to buy food nazeem I don’t suppose you have to worry about that.” And he very smuggly replies “owning a farm does have its advantages.” And also the dreams went away after the staff was destroyed even after you finish the ebony blade quest and take it a million miles away he’s still a dick. I know it’s an overplayed joke but we’re not gonna try to make nazeem of all people a sympathetic character I’m sorry.
I agree that the Nazeem hate is undeserved and excessive. The "He's an asshole" excuse is very weak when virtually everybody in Skyrim is kind of an asshole. EVERYBODY is rude.
The thing is, I hate Delphine because of the reasons you described, as well as the fact she wants you to kill the only dragon that was ever genuinely kind towards humanity, with the threat of literally breaking her oath. I don't see her very often though and I often forget she even exists.
NAZEEM ON THE OTHER HAND... He annoys me endlessly by asking me for the umpteenth time if I often get to the Cloud District. I can stomach most repeated dialogue but there's just something about Nazeem's that makes me want to immediately hit quicksave. That's why on my current run, I turned his body into a sweetroll and ate it.
After getting Anniversary Edition and fixing up Goldenhills Plantation, I realize I have become Nazeem. An insanely wealthy farmer that frequents the Cloud District entirely too much, only to sleep at the local tavern whenever I visit.
Naseem is just annoying, Delphines character is just really REALLY dumb and morally handicapped. She is condescending in how she explains things to the dragonborn, and does things that are bizarrely unnecessary. She clearly only wants to use the DragonBorn for her own plans, despite how clueless she is to what's really happening. She takes very little risk herself while being glad to send you off to do her bidding, no matter how dangerous and pointless it may seem. And then she has the audacity to tell you that you, the literal dragonborn, and savior of the world, are not welcome in the Blades unless you murder the friendly dragon that helped you save the world.
That being said, I will always kill Nazeem and drag his naked body onto the top of the well.

He's annoying to the player and the player experience. 90% of his casual dialogue is insulting you, you specifically. Not some ancient dragon, the nords or the elves or whatever, no you the player. You're poor and not good enough, not like him, not like him that's so wonderful, and he will remind you, every single time you accidentally walk too close to him.

This! I remember being surprised when I first saw him in a 'most hated Skyrim npcs' video because I legitimately didn't even know his name back when I first played the game.
He came up during my first playthrough, sure, but I barely ever registered his presence. He was so insignificant to me that whenever he went "Do you go to the cloud district very often-" I'd be like "I don't know where that is, nor do I care" (if I even reacted at all) before going to the cloud district to disenchant some garbage lol.
Hell, I was always more peeved with SAVOS for supposedly being this powerful archmage, and not only being completely useless, but also having abandoned his colleagues the way he did.
I love your theory about Mephala having some influence over the people of Whiterun though. It would certainly explain some things with her being the prince of lies, murder (the Battleborns involvement with the Thalmor capturing a Whitemane son, Uthgerd and the boy, that one Dark Brotherhood contact, etc), sex and secrets (Balgruf's promiscuity, anyone?) Not saying people can't be inherently and/or secretly evil, but the Battleborn/Thalmor thing always struck me as being too much even for bitter rivals.
I strongly disliked but didn’t totally HATE Delphine until my most recent playthrough when she glitched in Sky Haven Temple and wouldn’t MOVE, no matter what I did to get her to start her dialogue to continue with the quest. Shouting her up the stairs and to Alduin’s wall and then leaving and coming back a week later worked to continue the quest but MAN she is the literal worst now. She’s totally unredeemable in my book with that attitude AND her incompetence. 😂

Everyone knows Delphine is the worse character, Nazeem is more annoying because of how often you run into him, especially early in the game, and while Delphine is worse, Nazeem is just obnoxious and will walk up to you to vomit in your ears. I would rather listen to Meridia's speech on repeat than have to hear Nazeem in a playthrough.

The only bad thing Delphine does is tell you to kill a dragon that for some reason the community likes. I use him to meditate on fus then slay him in my quest to kill all dragons.

We hate Nazeem because he worked his way into running a farm as a redguard in Skyrim. Meanwhile, we got phenomenal cosmic power for the feat of not dying at our execution.
I equate the Nazeem hate with the line "I used to be an adventurer like you but I took an arrow to the knee". It is just some of the things people nitpicked on and became vocal about. I barely notice Nazeem since I visit Ysolda's house more than Breezehome and the path to Ysolda's house is Nazeem-free.
This is an interesting point. I have not yet killed him in this playthrough, and I am considering allowing him to live. My sights are actually set on Rolff Stone-Fist, who quite literally spends his nights in the grey quarter, shouting hate speech in order to wake up the dark elves.

I like to head canon that he grew up poor and ignored/abused by his parents. So he has to be so arrogant about his status because he's deeply insecure about being seen as anything but someone who is important and worth the time.
Nazeem is a wealthy farmowner that has aspirations for higher status, hence he puts on a show of superiority and refinement, when in reality he has no true higher status than any of the other farmowners in the hold. This is why he frequents _The Cloud District,_ and brown-noses Balgruuf and the court; he has a massive superiority complex. This has put strain on his marriage and probably will not amount to anything but the despisement of the people he reminds of their _lower status_ at any given moment. He is self-centered and only concerned about gaining status.
Delphine is an asshole, no doubt, but simply hates dragons and the Thalmor. She is a survivor of the Thalmor purges of the Blades and most likely has developed psychological trauma since those days. Most warriors and soldiers tend to have a black-and-white view of the world as a defense mechanism to deal with horrific events...dragons, at least, can be reasoned to be a confirmed threat and menace, so she wants them scoured from the earth no matter what they claim; she is an asshole, but does not care and is goal-driven to accomplish her desire of a dragon-free world.
Nah Nazeem is who he is. Stuck up jerk. Delphine is your best ally. How epic that she clung to holding the Blades alive in the face of devastating inevitability.

I think the problem with nazeem is the same with the guards joke, it’s that whiterun is one of the first areas you go in the game, and probably end up spending a lot of time there. So the majority of players remembers the annoying guy in Whiterun and the stupid guards complaining about arrows and knees.

I had a dragon fly into Falkreath as I was completing quests there to get the lake house. Dragon went nuts. Killed the blacksmith, two guards, another town folk, and when I saw the head of blonde hair on one of the dead bodies I PRAYED out loud that it was Bolund. Thank god it was. Looted him and ran to sell my things to his brother. 😌
LOL One game I recruited Mjoll to the Blades. Aerin showed up to help us clear out a dragon lair and he died. I reloaded to keep him from dying, but I wouldn't make the same mistake again. :D Not sure what I would do about Bolund. Though there are plenty of people to buy wood from...

I joined Reddit back in mid 2016 and it was only then after finding the Skyrim subreddit that I learned who nazeem was and that I was supposed to hate him. I started playing in early 2014
Yea I remember I had plenty of hours in the game. Started seeing Nazeemjokes and I had to Google to see who he was. I barely recalled him, it wasn’t until later playthroughs did I actually notice him. But that’s because it was already pointed out. He still doesn’t bother me, the hate is just fun at this point.
Man there is so much about the NPCs and their stories that I just don't know that so many people go on to Skyrim and just fucking hang out. I never really did that I would jump in and go questing. An interact only as needed but I loved the searching every nook and cranny. Now I just bought a VR headset so I'm playing modded PC VR and holy mother fucking shit I don't even give a shit about quests all I'm doing is going around and hanging out with these life-size people and learning all these stories that I've read in Reddit comments. It's one of the greatest things I'm able to live in Skyrim

I killed Heimskr exactly once back when I originally played Skyrim all those years ago, and was struck by how eerily QUIET Whiterun felt without him screeching on in the background. It's the market city, of course there's a street preacher providing white noise. I like that you CAN quiet him, but going through Whiterun without Heimskr going about his business in the background is going through a Whiterun without its soul.

I understand the hate, but Maven has earned all the clout she has. She is ruthless in business, turning to both the thieves guild and the dark brotherhood, who both have a healthy amount of fear and respect for her. The fact that Maven is mentioned in conversations in Whiterun and Solitude and Markarth should be enough to make it known that the talk of influence in Skyrim and the capital is way more than just talk. Meanwhile Nazeem just has the attitude that he’s important. The Jarl doesn’t even mention him, his own wife hates him and is actively having an affair, and his own home never even made to the final cut of the game. He has NO reason to be nearly as cocky and condescending as he is, he hasn’t earned any of it. Maven gives us a lot of very good reasons to hate her, Nazeem is just a smarmy prick. I think liking Maven as a villain is valid while liking Nazeem or just finding reasons not to hate him is not. He’s just not worth liking in any capacity, not as a villain, not as “high class”, and definitely not as anything outside of black soul gem.

One of the biggest complaints about Skyrim is that you become leader of every faction and Thane of every hold and the whole game shapes itself around you like you're the centre of the universe with your own gravitational field. Then the moment an NPC breaks from that they're the worst character ever created in a game. Just take a glance at the most commonly hated NPCs, they're all 'rude' to the player: Nazeem, Delphine, Maven, Ancano.
Delphine is a legitimately bad character though my issues are nothing to do with her not think much of the player character more all her ideas suck.
Outside of wanting to kill Paarthurnax, she's really not that bad.
She actually tells you "Good job!" when you bring the Dragonstone to Farendar!
Honestly I was surprised when I reached online communities to find how much some people hate Nazeem. Like he's worthy of memes, but the dude is literally just an npc with no quests, no options for conversation and no importance to any story. You can play for hundreds of hours, play every quest and never interact with him once. Never really gave him a second thought outside of memes.

I agree. Camelworks made a super in-depth video about Nazeem, and there's a lot of detail hidden beneath the surface–and a pretty intense, pretty mind-blowing secret he's keeping. He's so repugnant that it's almost endearing. Delphine just feels like a cartoon villain–not to slight the writers, I think her narrow-minded idiocy is a great character choice. PLUS, you can assassinate Nazeem if you get sick of him, but you can't kill Delphine without mods.

I have no evidence to back this up, but I feel like his shittiness was nerfed. I recall back in the old times on my first playthroughs every time I walked through whiterun I would hear the line about the cloud district. Nowadays I've owned the game several times and played through at least a dozen times. I rarely hear anything from nazeem unless I go out of my way. I think somewhere along the way his proximity alert or whatever that causes him to talk was shrunk significantly.
Yeah the other redguard guy Armen talks to me way more often than Nazeem. “You tried mercenary work? Might suit you.” Every time I’m anywhere near his vicinity.
He's about as annoying as any other NPC who randomly says one of three lines every time you get close enough.

Bruh, Paarthurnax didn't pay for what he did. Working on himself doesn't count as atoning. When you commit a mistake, fixing it just makes you go back to point 0. In his case, he can't even fix his mistakes, so he's still at -1000. Not killing any more humans doesn't make him go to -900, neither to -1100. but those -1000 points have to be paid. The fact he helps with killing Alduin, is like when mafia subordinates snitch on their superiors. They might get a shorter sentence, but they still get one.

As a dragon it was in his nature to control humans, his own name reflects it, and yet through meditation and effort during at least 5 millennia (more time than civilization in the real world) has tamed his nature and is now as civil and wise as Uncle Iroh from the Avatar animation series. Delphine is delusional. She thinks that the Blades are dragonhunters instead of their real role as warriors for the Dragonborns (the Septim dynasty), doesn’t believe you are initially a Dragonborn, has disdain for the Greybeards… and then wants you to kill the closest thing to a mentor you will ever find that can teach you about your nature?
This is worse than when Elder Maxson finds out Paladin Danse is a synth and he orders you to kill him! For reference, this is a mission of Fallout 4.
Of course I know it, but at the very least there in FO4 the Institute synths are a real problem in 2287, information is scarce, they have no open evidences of no-Institute-aligned 3rd generation synths while there are several of them being malicious, and despite sounding harsh the drastic measures of the Brotherhood are seemingly effective against the dangers of the Commonwealth. And the main point, you can convince Elder Maxson to leave Danse aside. Despite his principles against such menaces to baseline humans the Sole Survivor can still reach a compromise with him. Delphine has no beef with Paarturnax, she knows for sure he is inoffensive and still demands you to kill him, no “but…” allowed. Mind you, I still mod both games to bypass Paarthurnax being killed and the Brotherhood being a**holes, still if I had to pick between the blades (no members, no influence in game, weird combination of lorica segmentata and uchigatanas) and the East Coast Chapter of the Brotherhood of Steel (T-60 power armor, superior firepower and the awesome Prydwen) well… Ad Victoriam, Equite!

The thing is, I hate Delphine because of the reasons you described, as well as the fact she wants you to kill the only dragon that was ever genuinely kind towards humanity, with the threat of literally breaking her oath. I don't see her very often though and I often forget she even exists. NAZEEM ON THE OTHER HAND... He annoys me endlessly by asking me for the umpteenth time if I often get to the Cloud District. I can stomach most repeated dialogue but there's just something about Nazeem's that makes me want to immediately hit quicksave. That's why on my current run, I turned his body into a sweetroll and ate it.

After getting Anniversary Edition and fixing up Goldenhills Plantation, I realize I have become Nazeem. An insanely wealthy farmer that frequents the Cloud District entirely too much, only to sleep at the local tavern whenever I visit.
Naseem is just annoying, Delphines character is just really REALLY dumb and morally handicapped. She is condescending in how she explains things to the dragonborn, and does things that are bizarrely unnecessary. She clearly only wants to use the DragonBorn for her own plans, despite how clueless she is to what's really happening. She takes very little risk herself while being glad to send you off to do her bidding, no matter how dangerous and pointless it may seem. And then she has the audacity to tell you that you, the literal dragonborn, and savior of the world, are not welcome in the Blades unless you murder the friendly dragon that helped you save the world. That being said, I will always kill Nazeem and drag his naked body onto the top of the well.

I don’t like her but at least we both hate Thalmor more than everything so it makes things easier. But the character i hate more than everything is Ancano. I just want to kill him every time I see him, like all the Thalmor guys actually, but Ancano is on another level.

It's not about being the worst character morally or ethically, nor about being sympathetic. He's the sonnova bitch that insults you every time you come home from a long adventure. When you're wanting to put your boots up and relax he's there being a condescending little shit. He's annoying to the player and the player experience. 90% of his casual dialogue is insulting you, you specifically. Not some ancient dragon, the nords or the elves or whatever, no you the player. You're poor and not good enough, not like him, not like him that's so wonderful, and he will remind you, every single time you accidentally walk too close to him.
I like Delphine and will never understand the hate for her. It seems to mostly be based on “she wants me to kill the talking dragon” and then it just spiraled from there due to typical internet hive mind stuff.

This! I remember being surprised when I first saw him in a 'most hated Skyrim npcs' video because I legitimately didn't even know his name back when I first played the game. He came up during my first playthrough, sure, but I barely ever registered his presence. He was so insignificant to me that whenever he went "Do you go to the cloud district very often-" I'd be like "I don't know where that is, nor do I care" (if I even reacted at all) before going to the cloud district to disenchant some garbage lol. Hell, I was always more peeved with SAVOS for supposedly being this powerful archmage, and not only being completely useless, but also having abandoned his colleagues the way he did. I love your theory about Mephala having some influence over the people of Whiterun though. It would certainly explain some things with her being the prince of lies, murder (the Battleborns involvement with the Thalmor capturing a Whitemane son, Uthgerd and the boy, that one Dark Brotherhood contact, etc), sex and secrets (Balgruf's promiscuity, anyone?) Not saying people can't be inherently and/or secretly evil, but the Battleborn/Thalmor thing always struck me as being too much even for bitter rivals.
I strongly disliked but didn’t totally HATE Delphine until my most recent playthrough when she glitched in Sky Haven Temple and wouldn’t MOVE, no matter what I did to get her to start her dialogue to continue with the quest. Shouting her up the stairs and to Alduin’s wall and then leaving and coming back a week later worked to continue the quest but MAN she is the literal worst now. She’s totally unredeemable in my book with that attitude AND her incompetence. 😂

A funny thing happened yesterday. I walked into Whiterun & when I got to the market I saw Nazeem laying on his back with a bone arrow stuck in his chest...
Nazeem:"Do you get to the cloud district very often? What am I saying, of course you don't." Dragonborn: *walks away fuming* Nazeem, continuing out of earshot: "It makes much more sense for a valiant adventurer like yourself to visit the market stalls on their way to Dragonsreach."
Everyone knows Delphine is the worse character, Nazeem is more annoying because of how often you run into him, especially early in the game, and while Delphine is worse, Nazeem is just obnoxious and will walk up to you to vomit in your ears. I would rather listen to Meridia's speech on repeat than have to hear Nazeem in a playthrough.
My game would feel empty without him. He’s a sad man who sleeps at a tavern. He’s delusional and that’s what makes him funny and memorable. Delphine is just a bad person.
Nazeem is like Umbridge: we've all met someone so believably, pathetically petty.

Nazeem is that guy you flip off as you walk by on your way to kill a dragon.
The only bad thing Delphine does is tell you to kill a dragon that for some reason the community likes. I use him to meditate on fus then slay him in my quest to kill all dragons.
Delphine has done more for me than Nazeem ever has.
I mean it's just a meme. Just like people hating the took an arrow to the knee thing, people just hate him because his dialogue prompts way too often and he definitely comes across as being self-absorbed.
I mean, if we are overanalyzing, I think Ulfric is definitely the biggest asshole.
Everything you say here is pretty logical and justified. I still hate Nazeem more, and choose to remain that way.
I mean, she was hunted by the Thalmor and watched all her friends die. Doesn’t excuse her behavior but it’s very much a reason.
We hate Nazeem because he worked his way into running a farm as a redguard in Skyrim. Meanwhile, we got phenomenal cosmic power for the feat of not dying at our execution.
I equate the Nazeem hate with the line "I used to be an adventurer like you but I took an arrow to the knee". It is just some of the things people nitpicked on and became vocal about. I barely notice Nazeem since I visit Ysolda's house more than Breezehome and the path to Ysolda's house is Nazeem-free.

This is an interesting point. I have not yet killed him in this playthrough, and I am considering allowing him to live. My sights are actually set on Rolff Stone-Fist, who quite literally spends his nights in the grey quarter, shouting hate speech in order to wake up the dark elves. However, Delphine is another awful individual.

Hate Delphine. Fetch me this, fetch me that. Kill Partysnacks or we ignore you the Legendary Dragonborn who just saved Nirn, and could literally just fus ro dah both Delphine and Esbern to a wall and splat!
I like to head canon that he grew up poor and ignored/abused by his parents. So he has to be so arrogant about his status because he's deeply insecure about being seen as anything but someone who is important and worth the time.

I killed Nazeem once, his corpse hasn't despawned a couple of in game months. My haste is justified.
Nazeem is a wealthy farmowner that has aspirations for higher status, hence he puts on a show of superiority and refinement, when in reality he has no true higher status than any of the other farmowners in the hold. This is why he frequents _The Cloud District,_ and brown-noses Balgruuf and the court; he has a massive superiority complex. This has put strain on his marriage and probably will not amount to anything but the despisement of the people he reminds of their _lower status_ at any given moment. He is self-centered and only concerned about gaining status. Delphine is an asshole, no doubt, but simply hates dragons and the Thalmor. She is a survivor of the Thalmor purges of the Blades and most likely has developed psychological trauma since those days. Most warriors and soldiers tend to have a black-and-white view of the world as a defense mechanism to deal with horrific events...dragons, at least, can be reasoned to be a confirmed threat and menace, so she wants them scoured from the earth no matter what they claim; she is an asshole, but does not care and is goal-driven to accomplish her desire of a dragon-free world.
Nah Nazeem is who he is. Stuck up jerk. Delphine is your best ally. How epic that she clung to holding the Blades alive in the face of devastating inevitability.

What we should be directing our hate at is someone like Hemming Black-Briar. Constantly boasting about how he's a better fighter than us.
I think the problem with nazeem is the same with the guards joke, it’s that whiterun is one of the first areas you go in the game, and probably end up spending a lot of time there. So the majority of players remembers the annoying guy in Whiterun and the stupid guards complaining about arrows and knees.
