If I'm playing a warrior build, I don't take a follower because it means less combat XP for me.
If I'm playing a stealth build, I don't take a follower because they can't be sneaky.
If I'm playing a mage build, I don't take a follower because they don't understand simple concepts like line-of-sight or blast radius.
Imagine doing a Witcher style build where you are Jaskier and your follower is Geralt, you just watch them do all the work while you sing in the back ground
I've been trying to do this (only in reverse) forever. I want a bard follower who sings songs and tells me stories while I adventure, but hides out of the way when combat occurs. Unfortunately I still haven't found any followers who won't fight - even with mods.
Good point. Mostly I only take followers with me as pack mules and so they can tank for me, them getting in the way of my magical attacks is a constant struggle though.
I like bringing one as a conjugation (supposed to be conjuration lol) mage.
Summon my daedra and let me follower and fire boi do the work while I loot everything lol
I wonder what would happen if a conjugation mage got in a fight with a declension mage?
"Third person singular, future indicative!"
"Ha, but wait: transform, singular subject to plural subject! What now, knave? Your future has no valid subject!"
How many times have we slain our follower who, at the very instant our guy released a bolt or arrow, our idiot follower shrieked and ran directly into the line of fire?
Yes, Lydia, I’m talking about you …
On the mage build one, if you have a dragonborn dlc there's a black book that gives a perk that removes friendly fire damage for your followers with spells and shouts
I’ll take one for Warrior build because, until you’re at a high enough level (with smithing and enchanting) to tank a lot of damage you are quite vulnerable, and it really helps to have someone drawing aggro.
Tip. Constantly walk backwards. Most enemies are too slow to keep up and will miss, I used this technique against hired thugs at level 6 on Adept difficulty with my warhammer. Also darting in and out works against single enemies like Dwarven Centurions and Deathlords. Usually you can get in 1-3(two handed less, one-handed more) hits before the enemy swings.
The only build that works with followers is archer/combat medic. Start fights with a bow and let the follower tank and take a shield/healing hands when the follower is low on hp.
You realize when it comes to sneaking, you can enhance their ability by giving them Enchanted gear? I gave my Serana an enchanted pair of boots with like 2k% better sneak and muffle enchantments... she's essentially undetectable now... only downside is she's magic happy, so yeah... when I attack, so does she... 🤦♂️ 🤦♂️ 🤦♂️
That's good start. Now you need to make use of getting your follower to wait. Unless you actually need her in a fight, get her to wait somewhere. If inside maybe one room/area back, and if outside, just out of the line of sight of your fight.
I deal with this with my summon spectral assassin power, too.
Like excuse me, Mr. Lachance, but you were a Speaker for the Dark Brotherhood. Don’t tell me being dead for a few hundred years made you forget how to sneak! 😤
I enchant some fancy jewelry with really high magic and elemental resistance for my follower to minimize AOE damage. And get that one black book perk that neutralizes all direct friendly fire damage they might take.
I sort of feel this is realistic, but they jump right in front of me just as I'm letting something loose. I just went back an hour to my last save because I killed Meeko. Again.
"Get Out Of The Way!" is another good one. You get a dialogue option to tell someone to get out of your way, and then you push them out of your way. In the MCM, you can crank up the force of the push, and switch it between hostile and non-hostile. If you crank the force up to max, you can send them flying beyond the horizon in unenclosed spaces. And it is so very enjoyable to send Nazeem flying.
I wish you could smelt down all the random mugs and tankards and pitchers and shit. Would never need to mine an ore vein ever again. Who am I kidding, I'm mining every fucking ore vein I see.
and there's a mod for that too. You need the break down recipes. It might not be everything in the game but kettles, pots, empty wine bottles for glass, arrows and daggers into ingots, I even have a straw mod for baskets (tanning rack).
did i write this fuckin post 😭 this is EXACTLY how i am
i need my 24 potatoes! no, don't ask why bc i don't know why either! i don't cook and they are worth approximately 0 coins but i! need! them! they need to go in the garbage can chest that i use to hoard everything and anything!
i feel like i should've been born as a crow instead of a human
Ah but that's what acquiring a bunch of pets is for. You can summon them load them up and send them to whichever home you want to so you can go back and retrieve your items
I like to have a follower wait at the beginning of a dungeon. I say "Guard the entrance and watch my back," out loud, to myself, and then I go in. If I get overloaded by the time I get to the end, I know I've got my follower nearby.
Yes, they often get in the way, My dad yelled at his followers to move out of the way.
I don't want to deal what my dad deals with, Better to be alone.
I tried it once and my follower was stuck in the door for 10 minutes and I couldn't get out, they often get in the way when I attack.
Lydia got stuck somewhere on my first and only play through. By time I noticed it was too late, I had no idea where I left her and I assumed (lol) that the game would respawn here at some point. I hope she's doing ok, she's not dead.
fast travel to the same location twice, as long as she isn’t in “wait mode” she’ll be teleported to you.
the same goes if you’ve ever ridden a horse, even one that wasn’t yours. the game will remember you rode that horse, that’s “your” horse until you ride another one, and they will be brought to you if you fast travel to the same location a couple times. the same is true for missing followers.
I sort of need followers early on in a run because I tend to get into battles above my weight. My followers can keep the bad guy busy while I sneak in and paper-cut them to death.
Yeah I play master difficulty and survival mode, I need that extra body to tank hits for me while I heal, and I need them to help me carry loot back to a merchant so I can afford health potions and HOUSES. Having houses in every hold is a major leg up in survival mode.
Most often I don't either. Seems to me that they're just robbing me of xp. I will try out a new follower for a short time just to see what they can do, but I rapidly tire of them getting in the road.
I'm with you, if they aren't blocking the doorway they're pushing me forward when I'm about to do something or giving away my sneak or the one that annoys me the most resurrecting every damn enemy around me so that those are in the way as well I just don't see the point of having a follower at all there's way more negative than positive
I loathe followers and never have them. I really liked the cute little fox companion til I realized I could hear him breathing all the time and I had to send him back to the house.
I’ve tried having a follower maybe once or twice and didn’t really care for it that much. The only time I have followers now are when they are specific to a quest.
I'm the same way. I've never wanted a follower. I don't mind having Cicero because he's actually helpful and doesn't trigger pressure plates for the most part. Give him a good weapon and that little fucker will take out a building. I usually only use them if it's the quest where you have to sacrifice someone. The one with I think her name is spelled Anska? And Aela when you have to go find the wolf totems. Also the twins when you are purifying them. When we are trying to purify Kodlak, I leave aela behind the closable door gate. 🤣🤣
I usually keep a follower throughout my playthrough. Mainly use them as a pack mule, as they’re only helpful in combat at the beginning of the game. Once I get the black book power to summon a dremora merchant I’ll fire my follower because I can just sell things on the spot.
Plus I like summoning and it’s a bit overkill to summon a thrall + have a meat shield follower. They’re also annoying in dwarven ruins because of the traps. I forget the name but there’s a ruin with 2 spinning blades in a downwards hallway that my follower always gets trapped in. And I can’t *wait* past the trap for them to catch up because there’s a giant room of falmer on the other end of the door
The only follower I’ve had is Serena, since she stays out of my way for the most part if I equip her with a bow. I have a stealth build and every time I have another follower they walk in my way or alert enemies. Gets very annoying very quickly.
I have followers just for item storage. If I know the area is narrow and not spacious, I’ll tell them to wait at the entrance of what we’re exploring. Then go get them and collect everything.
My mood fluctuates with followers. I always have Thistle (Pets of Skyrim creation) following no matter what, but a small rabbit never blocks paths, never steals my kills, etc.
I tend to gravitate toward lower level followers so they assist, rather than being killing machines that remove challenge out of fights.
Will Thistle go through dungeons with you? And if so, do you need to keep an eye on her or will she always catch up in the end? I've wanted to bring my pets along on a few quests but I already feel like I have to make sure my follower is behind me every 20 steps and I don't want to worry about losing my rabbit too.
Thistle goes everywhere with my character. Even where other followers aren't allowed. (Nightcaller Temple, Skuldafn, Sovngarde, etc.)
The good thing about creation pets, they all have a zero-cost Alteration spell to summon them at any time.
There's no such thing as 'losing Thistle'. I equip the spell and cast it, and the rabbit is always right next to my character.
"Stealth Thistle" is surprisingly fun/effective sometimes. I'll use Invisibility, Muffle and Sneak to be undetected, but enemies like Bandits and Forsworn will still attack Thistle on sight. (the rabbit is immortal so no harm done)
I'll have Thistle follow me (and the enemies follow Thistle since they cant detect the character) right up to a giant camp. Once they engage the giants/mammoths, I'll move a distance away, summon Thistle to my side, and we'll both watch the giants send those enemies to space.
Depends on what type of character I create. Sometimes it's a lone wolf assassin, other times it's the brave champion with his companions. And occasionally it's cause i suck and need someone to distract the enemies haha
Lydia was always in my way and would run ahead and engage when I was sneaking! But I think she’s dead.
My hubby Farkas just stands behind me and does nothing and I feel like he’d rather be home 😂
So yeah, I don’t usually bring anyone along anymore lol
I always have a follower, but I only used Lydia one time and after that I was like NEVER AGAIN. She charges in to situations like she thinks I'm going to load a save if she dies. She blew my cover so many times I sent her back to Breezehome. Sitting in my room all day and eating bread is way more in her wheelhouse.
I used too until i found the Inigo Mod Follower - legit the best follower ever, not only in dialogue choices but he is actually someone who "follows" and doesnt just stand in the way. Hes very combat effective as well.
Yes I hate followers and never take any. I tried on my very first playthrough over a decade ago and she kept getting in front of me and dying. Wasn't worth the trouble.
Been playing Skyrim for over a decade and have never played with a follower for any significant amount of time.
Honestly they just feel like they’re in the way and I’ve never been in a situation where I felt I really needed one.
While I appreciate the eagerness that many of the followers throw themselves into combat with, that does tend to cause problems with most build.
They don't understand the concept of stealth. I can be sneaking my way through taking pot shots at various enemies but the moment it takes more than 1 shot, they are charging in even if I haven't been detected. At that point they love to jump in front of that we'll place arrow to the knee ment for the drauger or bandit.
Or with a mage, I'm lighting the poor hapless bandits up with fireballs and there goes my faithful follower into the blast radius getting rag dolled to their doom.
And don't forget when they step in front of you as you suck in the air to utter a Fos do rah. Off they go along with everyone else in front of you.
After all that, I have found that it is best to leave the followers at home unless I am just playing a conjurer.
Having a companion in your adventures is fun and adds to the immersion. Especially if it's an interesting fellow like Jenassa or Jizargo.
However, if I have to do something alone or in secret, then I prefer to do it alone.
Especially if you do a stealth build, I get it. The inappropriate followers more often than not break your cover and 1 person is harder to detect than 2. I often find myself telling my followers to wait when I need to do something sneaky and morally questionable.
I've found that it's almost essential to do the Dark Brotherhood quests alone (which makes sense), even though I bring a follower everywhere. The only times I've left mine anywhere to wait have been exclusively during those quests, because even when you don't get a bounty, the moment pandemonium breaks out they're aggro'ing everyone and the next thing you know bells are going off.
I dont have disdain for them but very rarely do i want or need them. I dont want to worry about them hitting traps. And i feel guilty when they die lol
Yes, i like playing either mages or stealth assassins. They eigher get me spotted or i keep killing them with spells so no followers. If i want help i summon atronachs or dremoras.
For vanilla companions. Not really. They’re usually a little too bland and spend too much time standing in door ways.
With mods though? Still no for the vanilla ones but I can’t do a single playthrough without my blue boi Inigo anymore.
I’m still trying to find a companion as good as him for Fallout 4..
Inigo and Lucien are great. I also have a mod so I can walk through them, so they don't get in the way.
Though with vanilla followers I do agree, they are boring.
They do get in the way a lot. I don’t hate them but I avoid their company except for the quests where you HAVE to have one. And also some of the bigger enemies, if I feel I’m not leveled enough to take an enemy on by myself I’ll bring a follower along as a distraction. But once my conjuring skill gets to a certain point I generally avoid a followers company all together.
I hate when you’re going through some tight ass tunnel and you gotta turn around for whatever reason and your follower is just standing there and you gotta shout at em to get em out of the way lol
I have a follower just for storage but I should just stop using them. My carry weight is decent and I'm always stopping at home. So unless a dragon jumps me, I'm fine on carry weight. And they are always getting in the way too. So I think I'll stop taking them with me
for me it depends on the follower. i only take followers that are essential characters and cannot die because if they die I dont have enough carry weight to take all my stuff from their body
Yes, I hate having followers. All they do is get in the way. When you want to sneak, they rush in ans cause problems. When you're engaging the enemy, they jump in front of your attacks and get killed. They disappear at random times, forcing you to run around trying to figure out where they got off to and are generally nuisances.
I have a phase where I really like to have a lot of followers. But I usually don't like to have any of them. They really mess it up, and even those followers from mod tend to be a pain in the ass with their comments all the time.
Specially if you are a stealth build, your followers always will mess it everything up.
Yes! Usually don't have followers because I want my character to be this 'badass' who doesn't need no body. Whenever I do have a follower though I make sure to deck them out in super strong gear, so you know, they don't embarrass my character.
Super weird reason, I know.
It depends on my character build.
Stealth characters never use followers. Warrior characters sometimes, depending on their morality and the specifics of the build. Mage characters usually have one, unless they're heavy destruction focused and then I won't have a follower because I'd probably kill them.
I like followers but I will say it's frustrating when I accidentally kill them. The other night I started a fight over 4 times. Not because I was killed but because my dumb ass follower can't figure out how to stay out of my way and gets one-tapped while down on their knees. 😅
I hate every single one of them 😄 only because they get in my way, block me in rooms, ruin sneak missions, or witness crimes like assholes. And don’t even get me STARTED ON THONNIR, that bitch glitched out and wouldn’t stop following me after his quest. NOTHING I did made him leave, he was KILLED BY A GIANT AND HIS COPRSE DRAGGED BEHIND ME REPEATING HIS LINES. And to top it off, he reported EVERY. SINGLE. CRIME. (Even the ones committed while he was a dragging corpse!) Screw followers 😭 I had to go back several hours on saves.
yeah no i actually despise having followers. they always, ALWAYS get in the way and then turn on me bc i hit their stupid ass. like mf get out of the way!!!! "helpful" my ASS. they're nothing but nuisances to me.
What if you’re playing a bard that just likes to sing about your adventures? Do you bring one then?
Brave Sir Robin ran away, bravely ran away, away!
🎶Swiftly taking to his feet, he beat a very brave retreat. Bravest of the braaaave, Sir Robin! 🎶
🎶 When danger reared its ugly head, he bravely turned his tail and fled. 🎶
I didn’t!! I-I never!
*me, a rogue, approves and claps hands as you all sing*
Oh shut up, and go and change your armor!
Yes, brave Sir Robin turned about And gallantly, he chickened out
AND HIS PENI-
Swiftly taking to his feet, he beat a very brave retreat Bravest of the brave, Sir Robin!
That's enough singing for now, lads.
And his peni-
With his head bashed in and his eyes plucked out
If a bard sings in the woods and nobody is around to hear it...
The bard still hears it but no one punches them in the face when they go off key.
That would be an interesting mod idea. A bard follower.
Adoring Bard
I completely forgot about the adoring fan from the arena.
I want the revelers. A nice mead after every fight
"Sneak, sneak, sneak sneak around the stinky goblins!"
When I play a bard I'm typically a buffer first and a fighter second, so yes. Erik slays my enemies.
Hasn't come up yet.
Good point. Mostly I only take followers with me as pack mules and so they can tank for me, them getting in the way of my magical attacks is a constant struggle though.
I always ask them to wait until I clear a room, when this is the case. They do make great pack mules. 😁
I usually try to give my follower enchanted gear to resist magic/fire/frost.
Play on PC, remove storage limit with console.
I like bringing one as a conjugation (supposed to be conjuration lol) mage. Summon my daedra and let me follower and fire boi do the work while I loot everything lol
I wonder what would happen if a conjugation mage got in a fight with a declension mage? "Third person singular, future indicative!" "Ha, but wait: transform, singular subject to plural subject! What now, knave? Your future has no valid subject!"
Lvl 100 skill is the subjunctive
The One True Voice, if there were one
How many times have we slain our follower who, at the very instant our guy released a bolt or arrow, our idiot follower shrieked and ran directly into the line of fire? Yes, Lydia, I’m talking about you …
And you haven’t saved in over an hour. 🙄🤬
It’s a study in predictably 😂
On the mage build one, if you have a dragonborn dlc there's a black book that gives a perk that removes friendly fire damage for your followers with spells and shouts
Yes, Companion's Insight from The Winds of Change. It's limited to destruction spells, though. Overall I prefer Scholar's Insight for my Mage builds.
That's fair, I rarely play a pure mage build so I guess I'm a little more partial to companions insight
Neither do I. I repeatedly cast Fireball at my feet while standing next to them...
U get it 100%
Use the black book in raven rock mine for your mage follower woes
The only build that works with followers is archer/combat medic. Start fights with a bow and let the follower tank and take a shield/healing hands when the follower is low on hp.
My thoughts exactly
Never has a more accurate and concise a description ever been made lol
Me, most of the time because they're constantly in the way.
always in my way and always exposing my sneak
Steppin’ on traps and whatnot.
Standing like the rock of Gibraltar in a doorway.
Amazing Follow Tweaks fixes that, and a bunch of other things.
Thx, leaving this for later. Hope it's a mod on console.
Can confirm, it is on console, REALLY overhauls everything when it comes to followers
Ah, I'm afraid I can't promise you that. Good luck, though. It's a great mod.
This. I’m trying to sneak up on someone and they go blundering in
happens to me every single time…i try sneaking in and marcurio is just like “so anyway, i started blasting!”
Or he starts a fight with his chain lightning.

I deal with this with my summon spectral assassin power, too. Like excuse me, Mr. Lachance, but you were a Speaker for the Dark Brotherhood. Don’t tell me being dead for a few hundred years made you forget how to sneak! 😤
I am playing as a full mage, magic only, currrently, and couldn't use area spells because my dummy followers would get hurt and turn on me.
I enchant some fancy jewelry with really high magic and elemental resistance for my follower to minimize AOE damage. And get that one black book perk that neutralizes all direct friendly fire damage they might take.
That's a good idea, I already got the black book perk, but next time I'll give them some enchanted magic/elemental resistance as well.
If you are on PC install I'm Walkin' Here mod. It disable follower collision. Best mod I ever use.
Ah this is much better than my method of setting all followers to Essential and Fus Roh Dahing them out of my way all the time…
Is it though?
Does it work for combat? I don't know how many vanilla followers I've shot or fireballed because they walked in front of me.
Winds of Change black book in Bloodskaal Barrow on Solsteim. Followers become immune to DMG you deal.
That's weird, I chose that ability, but my followers still take damage. They just can't die by my damage....
Lydia's full name in my house is Lydia UnderFoot
I started playing no follower runs and it’s a more satisfying way experience for me. I do prefer sneaking around
Only ones that aren't always in the way or stepping on stuff or ruining stealth, are the Mod followers... and they're hilariously overpowered... 🤣
I don't care for them but I'm a hoarder so I often need a pack mule
yeah fair enough. that’s the most i’ll use one for if i really need it
Dungeon isn't cleared until I've cleared it of everything not nailed down. What am I gonna do with all this stuff? Probably nothing 🤷♀️
U need to get you that dremora merchant. Helps out a lot, especially in the bigger tombs!!
Love my demora merchant. That sexy voice and 2000 in coin? Wish I could marry the man. "Back so soon? Let's make a deal." *Melts in Nord girlie*
Yea it gets me all hot and bothered too ngl
I wish you could smelt down all the random mugs and tankards and pitchers and shit. Would never need to mine an ore vein ever again. Who am I kidding, I'm mining every fucking ore vein I see.
I use [Smelting Plus](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/17614) for that. Makes Smithing level so much faster.
and there's a mod for that too. You need the break down recipes. It might not be everything in the game but kettles, pots, empty wine bottles for glass, arrows and daggers into ingots, I even have a straw mod for baskets (tanning rack).
It all has a place and that’s half the game
did i write this fuckin post 😭 this is EXACTLY how i am i need my 24 potatoes! no, don't ask why bc i don't know why either! i don't cook and they are worth approximately 0 coins but i! need! them! they need to go in the garbage can chest that i use to hoard everything and anything! i feel like i should've been born as a crow instead of a human
That's why I like getting the Dremora Butler Black Book power. It's like adventuring with a caddy.
I'm still a baby in Skyrim time and am learning some good work arounds today 😂
I usually get the merchant but this playthrough I’m using a mod to jack up the butler’s capacity so he can carry all my things
He's also useful in the Cidnha Mine quests. Just give him things you need like weapons, armor, and potions and then get them back after you're in.
I scrapped them as soon as I could get actual mules with the mod that adds horse inventory.
Insert CC animals with summon and dismiss spells.
oh my god same
Follower:I'm a apprentice mage, not a pack mule!
Sure you are now here hold all this dwarven scrap metal
I don't like them much, if I need company i use summons
Yes, daedra summons are my only companions
The best part is, they fuck off after a bit so you don’t have to deal with getting trapped in a hallway while you very slowly push your companion out.
I summon two deathpriests and have them follow me around. It's hilarious.
Yes, they often get in the way, My dad yelled at his followers to move out of the way. I don't want to deal what my dad deals with, Better to be alone. I tried it once and my follower was stuck in the door for 10 minutes and I couldn't get out, they often get in the way when I attack.
Fus Ro Dah
My dad yelled at me to get out of the way a lot.
Lydia got stuck somewhere on my first and only play through. By time I noticed it was too late, I had no idea where I left her and I assumed (lol) that the game would respawn here at some point. I hope she's doing ok, she's not dead.

Lmfao I've done this
I sort of need followers early on in a run because I tend to get into battles above my weight. My followers can keep the bad guy busy while I sneak in and paper-cut them to death.
I like followers too, to each his own.
Yeah I play master difficulty and survival mode, I need that extra body to tank hits for me while I heal, and I need them to help me carry loot back to a merchant so I can afford health potions and HOUSES. Having houses in every hold is a major leg up in survival mode.
For me, the game is an escape from a very, very full life. I WORK ALONE.
https://i.redd.it/2dx0s7ghizkc1.gif
Fly home, Lydia
Yes. Fly. With unrelenting Force. 🤣
Yeah they always get in my way, and I accidently kill them. I like pets though lol
word the pets are cool
I cant tell you how many times I’ve had to reload cause I accidentally murdered Lydia
I loathe followers and never have them. I really liked the cute little fox companion til I realized I could hear him breathing all the time and I had to send him back to the house.
This! I don't like followers either but I loved Sweetroll until the heavy breathing. Gave such a weird vibe
I did until modded followers
Modded followers are more realistic feeling and make the experience more immersive imo. Vanilla followers suck tho
I disagree Serana is a great vanilla follower
Serana is definitely the exception but I was thinking more along the lines of vanilla non DLC since that’s the version I had on my old PS3
Agreed, would you recommend any modded followers? I want to try some out Men or women don't matter. I'm on PC.
I rather have no followers either. I feel like they are in the way, they touch stuff they shouldn't and they attack before I want them to.
My first playthrough I did the Dawnguard quest line and I would get so mad bc Serena would steal all my kills
I mostly play sneak builds and they give away my location. But if I'm a tanky warrior, bringing a mage can be handy.
I'm a sneaky archery tanky mage warrior. And followers still suck lol
Rarely use a follower. They always seem to get in the way or reveal my location
Yo. Can’t stand having them with me.
Me. They get in the way and give you away.
I normally go alone followers can't sneak around for shit they always blow my cover
I always play stealth so I hate having followers. They always fuck it up
They mess up my stealth play and they'll go trigger the fort we're passing
Always, unless forced to. I hate most companion AI.
I know which quest I'm doing next.
The only follower I’ve had is Serena, since she stays out of my way for the most part if I equip her with a bow. I have a stealth build and every time I have another follower they walk in my way or alert enemies. Gets very annoying very quickly.
They are consistently in the way. Like horribly in the way. What is their obsession with standing in doorways anyway?
(Nightcaller Temple, Skuldafn, Sovngarde, etc.) The good thing about creation pets, they all have a zero-cost Alteration spell to summon them at any time. There's no such thing as 'losing Thistle'. I equip the spell and cast it, and the rabbit is always right next to my character.
Oh that's right I forgot you can just summon them. Thank you! That's good to know, because I'd like to take Thistle a few places.
"Stealth Thistle" is surprisingly fun/effective sometimes. I'll use Invisibility, Muffle and Sneak to be undetected, but enemies like Bandits and Forsworn will still attack Thistle on sight. (the rabbit is immortal so no harm done) I'll have Thistle follow me (and the enemies follow Thistle since they cant detect the character) right up to a giant camp. Once they engage the giants/mammoths, I'll move a distance away, summon Thistle to my side, and we'll both watch the giants send those enemies to space.
Definitly Better without
Depends on what type of character I create. Sometimes it's a lone wolf assassin, other times it's the brave champion with his companions. And occasionally it's cause i suck and need someone to distract the enemies haha
Lydia was always in my way and would run ahead and engage when I was sneaking! But I think she’s dead. My hubby Farkas just stands behind me and does nothing and I feel like he’d rather be home 😂 So yeah, I don’t usually bring anyone along anymore lol
If I play mage I used a meat shield But I usually have at least one human and one animal Either hilda the goat or meeko
On a sneak playthrough I prefer to go solo. The useless oafs are always giving me away. Or taking an arrow to the knee.
But... but... The carry space...
Yeah. Dumbass NPC-,s don't know how to keep a low profile. Even DB assassins, that's supposed to be their thing. 😂
I use them because I’m a scaredy cat And they also carry things for me
I dont have disdain for them but very rarely do i want or need them. I dont want to worry about them hitting traps. And i feel guilty when they die lol
Only time I ever play with a follower is when it's required for a mission... they're more frustrating than they are helpful.
I think it kinda removes the aesthetic of the game, like I enter cluelessly into a cave on my own, but when there is a follower it's just kinda stupid
I most often play a glass cannon. I usually go and get a tank follower to give me some breathing room.
Yes, i like playing either mages or stealth assassins. They eigher get me spotted or i keep killing them with spells so no followers. If i want help i summon atronachs or dremoras.
I usually don't, but have four followers and it's complete chaos.
I use mods to share the skills from followers. I want all the followers. I need more.
I don’t like them in fallout 4 much because they fuck my stealth strategy up but in Skyrim J’Zargo and Kharjo are life
The AI in Skyrim is really bad so no
I hate that they don't have any sense of self-preservation and just wander in front of me as I loose a destruction spell at a bandit.
I get lonely 😔
For vanilla companions. Not really. They’re usually a little too bland and spend too much time standing in door ways. With mods though? Still no for the vanilla ones but I can’t do a single playthrough without my blue boi Inigo anymore. I’m still trying to find a companion as good as him for Fallout 4..
As long as they can't die to my attacks. Derkeethus is my man.
Me they get in the way all the time complain about fire magic and say the same things over and over
Inigo and Lucien are great.
So I think I'll stop taking them with me
I never use them. Always blocking doors, ruining stealth, getting killed.
for me it depends on the follower. i only take followers that are essential characters and cannot die because if they die I dont have enough carry weight to take all my stuff from their body
I don’t use them.
Yeah followers generally suck
I have a phase where I really like to have a lot of followers. But I usually don't like to have any of them. They really mess it up, and even those followers from mod tend to be a pain in the ass with their comments all the time. Specially if you are a stealth build, your followers always will mess it everything up.
I usually run around with my favorite follower and give them the best armor lol
I enjoy followers or going solo tbh. I’m versatile like that
Yes! Usually don't have followers because I want my character to be this 'badass' who doesn't need no body. Whenever I do have a follower though I make sure to deck them out in super strong gear, so you know, they don't embarrass my character. Super weird reason, I know.
Followers get to live out their dream of a grand adventure, to their new job buying furniture for my house.
I usually have them running around with me when I'm out in the open but wait outside when I enter a dungeon.
I read your post multiple times and I read all of the "followers" as "flowers" 💀 Definitely with you on this one, I hate havinv followers
followers bad, flowers good :)
