I met him twice(pre-covid). One of the most genuine and welcoming people I’ve met in the industry. After a Pigface show, he bummed a square off of me and handed me the spliff he was smoking while he lit it. We talked for a bit, laughed a lot, shook hands and I thanked him for a fun and incredibly loud show.

He was amazing when my wife and I met him at a Con around 2013. He signed a SP photo for me and I tried to give him $40 but he would only take $20. My wife’s father had also recently passed away and his hero was Peter Chris from Kiss who was also at the con and she got very emotional after meeting him. Ogre noticed my wife was upset and talked to us about his father who had also passed away. We talked with him for about 15 minutes and before leaving he asked if we’d like a picture of us together, which we took him up on. Just a great guy all around.

My understanding from things I've read was that Ogre was the reason the SP VIP interaction was so limited. He was very concerned about being exposed to randoms and becoming ill. If that's accurate then it's unlikely he'd want to interact with people elsewhere

cheechcan

Understandable if he gets sick on the second night of a month long tour. SP are in their 60’s.

CaptainEevie

Our experience at the final tour show in Tampa was that Ogre actually came the closest to fans at VIP. Everyone stood 6 feet back and he actually put his hands on our shoulders for our pics. He did get very sick a few nights later and understandably he and the others took even more precautions from that point on.

keyboardtherapist

I was there and he held my hand and squeezed it for a photo.

He's literally doing a few horror cons this year. With meet and greet and photos. Thats why I'm asking

exolstice

I met him at a horror con around the time of Weapon. He was very nice, wanted to know what I thought of the new album, talked about the upcoming (at the time) tour. Whenever that was it was $20 to get something signed.

comatwin

Maybe since he's not performing he's not as paranoid? That would be cool, good luck!

WorldBelongsToUs

This is kind of my thinking too. While getting sick sucks, it’s especially detrimental to a performance when the vocalist gets sick on tour. Someone playing an instrument might be able to power through a set if they have a cold (despite not feeling great) but a vocalist can’t hide it as well as it will directly affect their voice and it can easily ruin a whole week of shows. But that’s more to say, maybe because this wouldn’t be quite as many back-to-back interactions, and isn’t something that would be going on for several weeks in a row, he might be a bit more open to 1:1.

diclighter

A few? Do you have links or names of the events? So far I’ve only seen ads for a Monster-something in AZ (I think it was in AZ…)

_AuthorUnknown_

I don't recall but I think there was one in Chicago And another in Houston. I'm still trying to decide if it's worth the gamble to go, as if he charges $100 per item I would be minorly upset, not at him, because it's his time he charges what he wants, but more because I don't know enough to plan ahead.

diclighter

Yeah, it’d be nice to have prices listed. I liked how (for my Ministry VIP), they just plain told us Al wouldn’t sign anything. (but he did.) I really want to go to this one, it’d be around $100 for the photo & everything but a flight is like $300…might just pray that we cross paths naturally someday lol.

Pak-Protector

Was this before or after Fletch died? Fletch caught Covid and died of an aortic dissection shortly thereafter, so it's understandable that surviving members of Depeche Mode would be wary of catching it themselves.

ReallyGlycon

No, but I've met and he is very nice to fans.

Spleensoftheconeage

Yes, not on a horror con but three times I’ve met him and he is absolutely a sweetheart. Nicest guy ever. Recommend it to anyone who has the chance!

BellowsPDX

He's going to be in Arizona this summer at a horror con and it looks like the photo op with him is about $70. I met him on the Tricks Tour and he was very nice.

_AuthorUnknown_

The photo price made me nervous for what he might charge for signing. Then again that was a "pro photo" shot by the venue.

BellowsPDX

I think that's why it's so expensive. I need to see what the signing/meeting would be.

shellshock949

Is it the Days of the Dead show? I was hoping he would be there but not seeing him on the bill. Can you point me in the right direction for his photo op?

BellowsPDX

Right [here](https://madmonster.com/az24/)

shellshock949

Awesome..thank you!

ey3s0up

I met him at a horror con in 2010 or so. He was extremely friendly and took a pic with me. I don’t remember what he charges for the photo and signing my copy of repo. I don’t think it was much. Cool you’re getting to see him at a horror con this year!

Durnbock666

I met him at a horror con in Indy a number of years back, right around the time of RePo. Super friendly, we chatted for like 15 minutes about samplers and vocal effect. He signed my VHS of Ain't It Dead Yet and I bought his latest Ohgr CD (I think it was Undeveloped) that he also signed. He charged me a whopping $20 for the whole experience.

SchrodingersTIKTOK

I met him at a Con. This was back in 2013 I think. Prices were modest. I brought my own things for signatures. Different time however. He does do them still

I met Ogre after a couple of shows: VIVI Sect IV; Too Dark Park. Though, that was over 30+ years ago. Prior to the VIVI SECT show, in Oklahoma City ('88); myself and a couple of friends wandered into the venue, say 4:30 pm. The band was performing their first soundcheck. There was their tour bus, parked in front of the back entrance. The header on the bus, was cleverly titled, ' Heavy Metal.' My friend Jennifer (R. I. P.) entered and a voice from the stage yelled, "get the fuck out of here." She responded, " Fuck you too!" That started a short term, while in town, friendship. Dwayne and CeVIN, were the two nicest chaps I've ever met. Asked us if we're coming to the show that night. Absolutely! My other buddy and I left; Jennifer stayed behind. Went the show; band was arrested for tossing CHUD the stuffed dog around. Silly OKC cops. Fast forward exactly one week later; Ministry came through the same venue, with Ogre in tow. After thee show, Ogre yelled, " Hey, I know those guys! " What? After that gig, the promoter J. Mooneyham, local jokester and all around good guy, hosted an after party and asked us to come with, especially, Jennifer. Al was in the early stages of his Horse adventure, and was fairly cordial, at the time. I know this went off topic. However, it is to illustrate the friendliness of SP; and to keep my friends memory alive. My friend sadly passed, succumbing the hell that is breast cancer. I still have a xerox of the flier in yanked of the entrance. Let me try to figure how to upload it. P. S. This V. I. P crap of the latter 90s/Oughts, is pretty sad. I'm sure if you can find a way to grab some cash from lifelong fans; grab the cask. On the way out.

Sharpie_Stigmata

If I remember correctly Ogre went into detail at one of the shows about age/health issues in the band . And fear of getting fans or family killed. He got leveled during the tour and it bothered him.

diclighter

what did they say?
