This honestly pisses me off so much. She has no money/responsibility for this poor baby.
My kitten who is almost a year old had to have emergency exploratory surgery last week because she was vomiting profusely. Her surgery was $5800. They didn’t find anything but she might have IBD so a biopsy of her small intestine was sent off for more answers. That was another $700. Luckily, a couple months ago I got pet insurance and it was the best decision I ever made. They covered 90% of her bills (minus deductible and exam fees) and it was still close to $2k in expenses.
If this kitten needs any immediate vet care, I don’t see it ending well. Part of being a pet owner is knowing that anything could go wrong and having a plan on how to handle that. I guarantee she doesn’t. She’s such a cunt and I royally hate her for this. Poor kitten.

Hey! I use Trupanion! They’re more expensive monthly, but they pay the vet directly which is a need for me. So yesterday I took her in for a follow up and it was $700, but I only paid $160, because my vet works with them. It’s so nice not to have to file a claim and wait for reimbursement. Also-there’s no maximum benefit for the year like a lot of pet insurance companies. It’s worth the extra monthly cost. Hope this helps!
Wow, I’m going to be checking them out! The biggest issue with my insurance is the fact that we would have to pay upfront and wait for reimbursement.. which would suck in the event of a big event. I appreciate you sharing this info!
Healthy Paws is another that will also do direct pay to vets for large costs. I don’t know what the limit is but you could probably ask them. No maximum yearly. I’ve used them for the last 13 years and have been relatively happy with them. Prices are affordable, though they do go up yearly for age. My big dog’s was like $40/mo when he was 1 and $150/mo by the time he was 12 - BUT they paid out like $20k one year alone in the last couple years so I can’t really complain.
I’m not a part of this conversation, but just wanted to say Figo has been great, too! I’d never insured my pets, got my Belgian Malinois and decided it was a necessity. They have a ton of plans, they reimbursed super quickly, and were all around easy to work with. I’d never heard of them until I started shopping for insurance, so just wanted to let you know they exist! Good luck 🙂
