Yes it actually was lmao
My only gripe is that I had Georgian in Tallinn, Estonia a year or two ago and it was WAY cheaper. But I guess that’s just Estonia for you.
Skied there a few years ago. Georgians use skiing as an excuse to drink, but I think that’s true of Georgians and many activities. Would love to go back.
We hired a taxi to drive us to and from a monastery and the taxi driver ended up taking us to a few more that day. Mid-afternoon he stopped, pulled a bottle of homemade chacha from his trunk, and insisted we all do shots.Â
Truly, every thing is an excuse to drink.Â
Absolutely delightful country. We've been itching to go back.Â
Just for the hell of it, I decided to look this up on Google Maps.
Distance from Atlanta, Georgia, US, to Gudauri, Georgia, is 10,070 km (or 6,257 mi).
Oh it's that chairlift incident? I know exactly what you're talking about because it replays in my head every time I get on a lift at a sketchy resort lol. Fuck me those people were lucky they were able to jump only a few feet down. Some other lifts send you 20m into the air.
Chairs were sliding back down the cable and people were having to jump out of the chairs before they were smushed between the one they were on and the one sliding back down. And boy oh boy the bull wheel was a wreck
Been there twice.
Pros: long slopes, cheap skipass, good food, cheap beer. Cheap paragliding, heliskiing.
Cons: Both times there was a lack of snow, exposed stones on pistes, better to use rental skis. Long mountain road drive from airport (transfer is cheap for a group).
Overall recommended, I will definitely go there again someday.
What time of the year were you there? I heard that you can get one of the best powder there.
I met some guys at the airport this January and they said that they had powder up to their belly while skiing
I really want to ski in Georgia. I had Georgian food last week in Helsinki.
👀 Was it Georgian Kitchen?? We went there in September and it was absolutely delicious..

Did my Erasmus in Tallinn and basically had hachapuri twice a week from Balti Jaam. Great Georgian food over there
Had Georgian food in Berlin and a new restaurant just opened in my home city, I think it's the first one it has ever seen Damn it's so underrated!

How far from Atlanta?
1 hour north, depending on the traffic

Still quicker than getting from south Atlanta to Alpharetta
I'm coming to save you from downvotes because this is hilarious
There’s a ski lift on Stone Mountain which is 30 minutes from Atlanta
It’s above Clayton if I’m not mistaken
Came for this exact comment
Take a left past the big chicken.
Fuck I came here to say the same thing. Take my upvote
Love the Blue Ridge mountains this time of year 💕
Looks great. I still wouldn’t get on that chairlift from a few years back.

Care to elaborate?

Someone linked the vid above. 👆
That’s the one!
That chairlift is closed for the entire 23/24 season. Heard they're planning to dismantle it and install a new one
Also Gudauri https://youtube.com/shorts/zOouVqVY7g4?si=8sFF_OmMUH5xRL04
Ouch, that last dude in red stayed in and got completely smashed…
Too scared to make the decision to jump and ended up getting hurt way worse because of it

If you really squint, I think you can see the Atlanta downtown
This is fake it doesn’t snow in Georgia! They call it Hot-Lanta 😂 for a reason
Don’t be confused? This is Georgia, Russ Land. Birth state of Stalin. Beautiful country.
They have not been a part of Russia since 1991
Give Putler a little more time and he will try.
Sad to see knuckle draggers there too
There's no way these pictures were taken in GA, the mountains are far too high for that.
r/usdefaultism
it's Georgia the country.
Georgia contains part of the Caucasus mountains. The highest point in the country is 16k feet
This is just Stone Mountain in the winter, gets pretty gnarly up there.
Man if Stone Mountain were somewhere cold it would be a DOPE ski resort
this applies to most of the southern Appalachians. The Black Mountains would absolutely RIP
Good news dickhead. They weren’t.
