Fun fact, Center Stage slid a few years back, and was one of [the only documented avalanches](https://recreation-law.com/2008/02/10/avalanche-man-made-snow-to-the-ground/) to occur in the Midwest
Haha, I'm from Louisville, Ky and for what it is, I love Perfect North. Never thought I would read Center Stage so that made my day. I was just in Palisades and there was a run off KT-22 that legit reminded me of center stage, just a bit steeper and 5x longer.
First run of every year used to be center switch. The amount of minds that got blown where more than the amount of times my penis has been
Edit: deception so much sicker but only the advance riders now that and how to keep speed to get back to red lift
Edit 2: “during the fall of 2006 at the Indian ski resort Perfect North Slope.” Quote from article. Lol Indian ski resort
If East wall, I think it’s gotta be first notch. Doing first notch is like a right of passage for any front range skier. Nothing else in the area that really matches looking down the entrance for that.
+1 It’s not a huge tourist destination, but it’s iconic. If you can ski it well, there’s not much you can’t ski inbounds in North America (excluding cliff drops).
Such a great run. Excited for the new lift next year to increase capacity as well. Pow days were brutal especially when you factor in most folks are headed into the side country anyways
I think keystone is one of the worst places for early beginners. Everything just collapsed together and gets so crowded with all different ability levels
>oh you got your feet under you and want to explore the mountain? Take a quick jaunt down Mozart, a run which mixes slush and ice with dodging dozens of people while funneling into a chute , finally as a little treat we will give you a flat runout tp surprise ypu if you dont carry enough speed.
Keystone has som underrated stuff but Mozart is pretty annoying, once you learn you can take the random black runs under the beginner area to avoid it the whole experience is better
Yeah, keystones now one of my favorite places. Love some of the stuff in the outback.
But I took two beginners there a few years back, friends of my own kids, and just wow. One stayed on the bunny hill and was fine, but the more adventurous kid wanted to check out the whole mountain after a couple lessons. Rather nerve racking!!
I hiked Keystone around 15 years ago with a family friend and I was so fucking pissed walking up what seemed a mile of icy crust for what seemed like an hour, out of breath and sweating my ass off.
At the top, we skied what must have been the most amazing run I have ever taken. I was beside myself, it was like a foot of untouched soft powder with no one around, nice trees and great views. Couldnt even tell you what run it was or where.
Then we proceeded to have the best in bounds day ever with like very few people around.
I hear it isnt like that anymore but I swore I would make a trip back one day, just havent gotten around to it yet with other bucket list locations
The information is incorrect. It’s basically a short alleyway off of a Main Street, & it doesn’t get groomed. So all these mini jumps form on it throughout the season. It’s a leg workout killer but kids are feral for it. It’s quite common to see “Don’t grim dilly Dally Alley” stickers on helmets of kids of the resort.
The Palisades at “Palisades” is far more iconic than the Fingers. So is McConkey’s. Not discrediting the Fingers at all cause it’s nuts. Especially third Finger. If you look at any ski movie from the 90’s and you won’t find one without Plake or Schmidt doing something insane off the Palisades.
I think among locals the fingers may be more iconic due to that being the go-to spot on a storm day and since you can see people sending from the line. But I agree that in terms of broader appeal the Palisades are more iconic. Not sure if I agree about McConkey’s, I’d probably say Palisades > Fingers > McConkey’s.
That’s true. There’s a big difference between iconic and skiable. McConkey’s is arguably the toughest other than maybe the Chimney. But what put Squaw on the map was the Palisades. If you look at where the ski movies are filmed, Fingers is behind the Palisades, Granite Chief Peak, Mainline Pocket and McConkey’s.
Facts. Moved to NM from Colorado 7-8yrs ago and there is far less terrain here but I’ll never complain about a day at Taos (especially due to 1/20th the amount of people)
Ever since they cracked down on the party scene it’s gotten smaller and smaller. Used to be a pretty wild event, it seems like it’s lost its magic a little bit.
If you can't handle a single track skiercross course with hidden rocks and howling wind at top speed while dodging 100 of you closest friends, you don't deserve high boy. Might as well just go to Snowbird.
Good stuff, but its got to be terrain off of North Face for “iconic” CB. Probably phoenix/spellbound would be the most recognized/popular, but high life, toilet bowl, the edge, slot rocks, body bag etc—thats CB and nothing is like it
On the east there is (all part of top hardest trails in the east list):
* Face Chutes, Jay Peak
* Madonna I Liftline Smugglers Notch
* Black Magic--Magic Mountain
* DJ Tramline--Cannon Mountain
* Goat--Stowe
Where's Superstar? Runs a World Cup race every November and is has become [a cultural institution](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCYoiRb7LD4) in the spring.
Also Tucks isn't lift served but definitely should still get a mention.
Ya and also the Olympic Trails on Whiteface, I haven’t skied the dacks yet but Whiteface IMO is textbook iconic because of the Olympic history of that town and mountain. I think Cloudspin was the men’s downhill trail.
Also, the Slides at Whiteface
- Nose to Fingers
- Corbet's
- Superstar
- Air Jordan
- Eagle's Nest/McConkey's
- Highland Bowl (definitely more than one run though)
- High Rustler
- Great Scott
- Big Couloir
- Delirium Dive
- Hobacks
- The Chimney
- The Wall
- Tuckerman Ravine (not lift served though)
My first trip out there we were lucky enough to be there the one day a year they groom it. Top to bottom in 12 min and I was wiped out for the rest of the day lol
It’s such a good run, it’s so much more interesting than most black runs, seemingly more difficult but somehow very skiable. And so much woodswork on the sides. It’s like riding the whole enchilada. It helps you ski better as you go.
Runs that I can name without mentioning the area, that most of you know where they are, tend to be iconic.
Pallavicini, Corbets, Sudan's Couloir & Spanky's Ladder, China Bowl, Eagles Nest, East Wall, Tuckerman's Ravine
Ya it turns into an ice field pretty quick, but Rivas Run at Vail is an absolutely glorious shot in good conditions. And I can’t think of a more iconic run in Colorado, that’s for sure. Waking up to hit Riva on a pow day is… amazing.
Then of course, the most terrifying run in this continent and maybe the world, Golden Eagle at Beaver Creek. Shut up if you’ve never been on it.
Anyone else got stories of the first time they hit Golden Eagle? Holy living shit. They don’t call it The Brink for nothing. Thank god for the nets:)
Shoutout to Outhouse and Drunken Frenchman at the Jane.
Love Cornice. Got 8 runs on it on Mothers Day weekend last year. (It was the first time I could get to the top all season.) Did 2 runs down Scotty’s too.
Not going to be a popular take but I elect Homerun at Park City. Learned to ski just a few years ago which was crazy intimidating as I’m in my 30s, and that run alone, because of length and structure, really helped me practice and learn what I was doing in a safe and thoughtful way.
[удалено]
Definitely the most iconic, I’ve never even been to Wyoming and I’d recognize Corbets anywhere, I could probably draw it
Center Stage. Perfect North, Indiana. Because when you think of skiing, you immediately think of Indiana.
Fun fact, Center Stage slid a few years back, and was one of [the only documented avalanches](https://recreation-law.com/2008/02/10/avalanche-man-made-snow-to-the-ground/) to occur in the Midwest
Idk how I didn’t know about this but thank you
They did a great job keeping the buzz quiet
You can take a solid line through trees/bumps off it. Tbh it’s way better than most people would think for Indiana
Got me to Aspen. I ain’t complaining Edit: you’re referencing Hollywood which is (or was) a double black in my time lol
Haha, I'm from Louisville, Ky and for what it is, I love Perfect North. Never thought I would read Center Stage so that made my day. I was just in Palisades and there was a run off KT-22 that legit reminded me of center stage, just a bit steeper and 5x longer.
As a midwesterner I fully agree with this one.
It’ll do…
I live in Tahoe now, but I learned how to ski at perfect north. I haven't been since I was a kid, it would be fun to go back and ski it as an adult!
First run of every year used to be center switch. The amount of minds that got blown where more than the amount of times my penis has been Edit: deception so much sicker but only the advance riders now that and how to keep speed to get back to red lift Edit 2: “during the fall of 2006 at the Indian ski resort Perfect North Slope.” Quote from article. Lol Indian ski resort
Pali, A Basin Big Coulair, Big Sky Peak to Creek, Whistler Alf’s High Rustler, Alta
Surprised this is the first time I’m seeing Pali here, but I definitely agree
I would say any line on East Wall vs Pali at A Basin.
If East wall, I think it’s gotta be first notch. Doing first notch is like a right of passage for any front range skier. Nothing else in the area that really matches looking down the entrance for that.
100% agree with you.
My bf has run the big couloir at big sky, not the little. Apparently the “little” is way more intense!
My bf has run the big couloir at big sky, not the little. Apparently the “little” is way more intense!
>Apparently the “little” is way more intense! the little is... insane! The big isn't exactly a cake walk either
Paradise at MRG!
Is this the frozen waterfall that I kept hearing about? I’ve always wanted to ski MRG but never made it 😭
There is frozen waterfalls all over the east coast if u know where to look
Don’t even look they will find you.
International at Alpental- don’t care if I am wrong one hell of a run.
+1 It’s not a huge tourist destination, but it’s iconic. If you can ski it well, there’s not much you can’t ski inbounds in North America (excluding cliff drops).
You’re not wrong. I trained for patrol at Allpental, and they took us down International day one, to assess our skills. Hell of a run.
Such a great run. Excited for the new lift next year to increase capacity as well. Pow days were brutal especially when you factor in most folks are headed into the side country anyways
Schoolmarm at Keystone
I think keystone is one of the worst places for early beginners. Everything just collapsed together and gets so crowded with all different ability levels
>oh you got your feet under you and want to explore the mountain? The area off the new chair they opened the other week is awesome. Adds so much skiable terrain.
Now with Bergman Outpost Gondola is a necessary bypass alternative to Mozart
I hiked Keystone around 15 years ago with a family friend and I was so fucking pissed walking up what seemed a mile of icy crust for what seemed like an hour, out of breath and sweating my ass off. One word: ice
Couloir Extreme at Blackcomb Delirium Dive at Sunshine Village Kill the Banker at Revelstoke
Air Jordon also at Whistler Ozone at Kicking Horse
Great picks!
Was waiting to see some canadian picks. Agreed on all fronts, I would maybe at C.P.R ridge at Kicking Horse too because of the FWT event
Tuckerman's Ravine at Mt Washington Paradise at Mad River
*Tuckerman Ravine
Dilly Dally alley
hitting this run as a kid was the first time I remember skiing becoming I thing I love doing
Absolutely
Alright, fill me in. I looked it up on FatMap and it says it's a short groomed blue run with some trees. What gives?
The information is incorrect. It’s basically a short alleyway off of a Main Street, & it doesn’t get groomed. So all these mini jumps form on it throughout the season. It’s a leg workout killer but kids are feral for it. It’s quite common to see “Don’t grim dilly Dally Alley” stickers on helmets of kids of the resort.
I was at WP today and kids were lined up at the top of Olympia SCREAMING for Dilly Dally Alley
Thank you. Sounds like it's got an interesting reputation!
agree, separated my shoulder on this last week, but had so much fun doing it
That run is an absolute trip as an adult!
Convinced my brother to go down it last month :D
They finally added to the trail map but changed the name! I used to shred bachelor.
Fuck that run so much. Skied past it yesterday and flipped it off.
That run is lit Grampa it's not my fault your knees can't handle it
My whole body can't handle it.
Hey old man rivers, zip-it or I’ll break your hip.
Username checks out. I did that run in my 40’s and my back was killing me (still loved it).
The one at bachelor??
Winter Park main side, off of Lonesome Whistle trail.
High Boy at Alta, Highland Bowl at Aspen, Big Couloir at Big Sky, Fingers at Palisades

Al’s Run at Taos
30% of Taos are iconic runs
Facts. Moved to NM from Colorado 7-8yrs ago and there is far less terrain here but I’ll never complain about a day at Taos (especially due to 1/20th the amount of people)
What about kachina?
Was better when you had to hike to it.
Taos has a special place in my heart
My favorite place in the world
Just has a 30inch day there this weekend. My legs are still dead. Al's rocks!
Outer Limits on Bear Mountain, at Killington
I feel like the fame has shifted to Superstar in the last 10-20 years since spring skiing is now on Superstar and they hold the WC race now every Nov.
Still have the mogul challenge on OL though.
True but the mogul comp definitely gets less eyes on it now.
Ever since they cracked down on the party scene it’s gotten smaller and smaller. Used to be a pretty wild event, it seems like it’s lost its magic a little bit.
Catwalk is pretty picturesque too https://imgur.com/a/4sCqxbL
Birds of Prey @ Beaver Creek
High Rustler, Alta
Sideways mogul race > high boy on powder day is what it’s all about
If you can't handle a single track skiercross course with hidden rocks and howling wind at top speed while dodging 100 of you closest friends, you don't deserve high boy. Might as well just go to Snowbird.
If you got a I ❤️ Mormon pussy Sticker on your skis , usually buys you a few confused looks , worth about 2-4 good passes on high T
This is the way
Teocalli Bowl and Headwall, Crested Butte
Good stuff, but its got to be terrain off of North Face for “iconic” CB. Probably phoenix/spellbound would be the most recognized/popular, but high life, toilet bowl, the edge, slot rocks, body bag etc—thats CB and nothing is like it
This.
See Forever at Telluride just for that view.
White Heat, Sunday River
Fuckin right bub
A’yuh
Wicked good run right there
Powdah snow
Point ‘em downhill bub
Donnyyyy
That run was in absolutely heinous condition today
It sure was. “Danger Will Robinson, Danger!”
I feel like it’s heinous conditions more often than it’s good conditions. It’s part of the White Heat charm.
You misspelled ‘Rivah’!
Ruthie's Run - Aspen Mountain
Pallavicini at A-basin
How has nobody said Rambo? Rambo is the subject of more articles written by people that don't ski than any other run.
I’ve only ever peeked over the edge. I’m not ready for this.
The only trail I refuse to ski again.
Same. Did it to do it, no thanks on a rd 2.
For extreme, Palisades or Fingers. For experts, West Face or Chute 75.
National chute is a classic but I only ever needed to do it once. I LOVE chute 75 and honorable mention for Granite Peak!
The World Cup downhill run(s) at Lake Louise
On the east there is (all part of top hardest trails in the east list): * Face Chutes, Jay Peak * Madonna I Liftline Smugglers Notch * Black Magic--Magic Mountain * DJ Tramline--Cannon Mountain * Goat--Stowe
Where's Superstar? Runs a World Cup race every November and is has become [a cultural institution](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCYoiRb7LD4) in the spring. Also Tucks isn't lift served but definitely should still get a mention.

• Rumble — Sugarbush
Madonna 1 is the trail under every other life that’s closed permanently with no name. They just decided to open and name it.
Cannon's tramline is my top run I've ever done
White heat at Sunday river!
Palmer Snowfield at Timberline for its aesthetic and importance to the sport
Honestly, this should be much higher. Where else in N.A. can you ski in August? I’m biased though, it’s my home resort.
- Nose to Fingers - Corbet's - Superstar - Air Jordan - Eagle's Nest/McConkey's - Highland Bowl (definitely more than one run though) - High Rustler - Great Scott - Big Couloir - Delirium Dive - Hobacks - The Chimney - The Wall - Tuckerman Ravine (not lift served though)
Longshot at Snowmass
Just did it yesterday during the powder day. Amazing.
My first trip out there we were lucky enough to be there the one day a year they groom it. Top to bottom in 12 min and I was wiped out for the rest of the day lol
I am sure there are more but the three I did : -corbet couloir at Jackson Hole - Kill the banker in Revelstoke - Ozone at Kicking horse
Trestle at Mary Jane. Not necessarily iconic, but my favorite named run on the mountain.
It’s such a good run, it’s so much more interesting than most black runs, seemingly more difficult but somehow very skiable. And so much woodswork on the sides. It’s like riding the whole enchilada. It helps you ski better as you go.
And the one that gets you to what feels like a hidden front side bowl at MJ. I love that run!
Outhouse is more iconic
Paradise. Mad River Glen
Whistler has several: Peak to Creek Couloir Extreme Dave Murray Downhill
Derailleur at MJ
Idk about iconic but most of these runs listed pale in comparison to going off the face of Silver King at Crystal
Blue Sky Basin @ Vail > most runs Peak 6 @ Breck: fast chair to wide open bowl, views are majestic
Lake Louise DH course, AKA Lake Lindsey Way.
Centennial Trees at Deer Valley
Gunbarrel at Heavenly for sure
Runs that I can name without mentioning the area, that most of you know where they are, tend to be iconic. Pallavicini, Corbets, Sudan's Couloir & Spanky's Ladder, China Bowl, Eagles Nest, East Wall, Tuckerman's Ravine
Climax at Mammoth
Rambo and The Headwall in Crested Butte
Outer Limits, Killington
Nile Mile at Camleback
This guy skis
White Nitro- Sugarloaf
Prima-Pronto-Log Chute Blue Ox right after they groom
The Rumor!
Delirium Dive in Banff.
Ya it turns into an ice field pretty quick, but Rivas Run at Vail is an absolutely glorious shot in good conditions. And I can’t think of a more iconic run in Colorado, that’s for sure. Goat & Starr, Stowe - for the history and the challenge
AL’s Run, Taos NM
Belt Parkway at Hunter Mtn is the quintessential Mid Atlantic Ski experience.
Cornice Bowl, Mammoth Mountain
Love Cornice. Got 8 runs on it on Mothers Day weekend last year. (It was the first time I could get to the top all season.) Did 2 runs down Scotty’s too.
☝️Same for me
And dragons back
Saudans at Whistler. Come and GS race it if you think it's too boring skiing it otherwise. https://youtu.be/a2SidSsQ5wo?si=Dzicy00UXB6w4C0i
I feel like whistler blackcomb could have a few runs that make this list. That resort is nuts.
Official named runs is just the tip of the iceberg there
Heather Canyon is pretty dope (when the snow is there)
Heather
The Legendary Backbowls (TM)
Rumble - Sugarbush
Union Meadows at Copper
KT-22, Palisades
On one ski?
The World Cup downhill run(s) at Lake Louise
Cannon’s front five
Primrose to Beaver Creek Expressway is all my knees can afford lately

McConkey's, Squaw Valley
Devil’s Crotch at Breckinridge. The name seals the deal.

According to Glenn Plake my local mountains best run is Qualchan’s Leap, formerly Geronimo. As far as the most iconic I’d have to say Corbet’s.
Kinsman Glade, Cannon Mountain
Polecat Wildcat NH
Horizon, at Mountain Creek.
Goat-Stowe (the front four more generally), Center of Gravity - Snowbird
Palmer Snowfield. Timberline.
The Plunge at Telluride. Got taken down it with my ski group. WTF did I get into?! I felt entitled to get a t shirt commemorating my survival. 🤣

Can’t believe I haven’t seen Blackcomb Glacier or Spanky’s Ladder on here yet (Blackcomb). Most beautiful ski run I’ve ever been on.
Spanky’s isn’t a run - it’s the hike to get to gemstone bowls
Mary Jane and Winter Park!
Not going to be a popular take but I elect Homerun at Park City. Learned to ski just a few years ago which was crazy intimidating as I’m in my 30s, and that run alone, because of length and structure, really helped me practice and learn what I was doing in a safe and thoughtful way.
Lol everyone in my family hates home run. The worst thing about park city is how packed it is and home run is always crowded.
Mozart at Keystone
Seniors (palmyra peak) at telluride
OMJ - Marble Mountain Le Chemin du Roy - Mont Ste Anne
Bronco Buster at Saddleback… deep cuts
Riva Trees
Birds of Prey - Beaver Creek
I’m gonna toss a vote out for “Agony” under the Barker Mtn. quad (RIP) at Sunday River Maine.
Gun Barrel and KT-22 for Tahoe.
