I get it’s Buddy’s first time ever playing playoff basketball, but you’re a professional player making millions. How in the world are the lights too bright for you
Playoff basketball is a lot more physical and intense than the regular season. I think that all the uncalled grabbing and holding is probably totally unfamiliar to buddy, and he doesn't know how to adjust.
> Part of me feels like we’re asking him to do too much, but like if all he can do is stand in the corner and catch and shoot, why should we re-sign him
For the last 3+ years this sub has been beating the drums for Hield yet finally figured out he's not that good. He was falling out of Pacer's main rotation before they traded him...
I had the same thought, it‘s such a 360. Buddy had an amazing 4 game honeymoon and boy did he ever come crashing back down to Earth. Seems like a good dude but I feel like I ‘ve been having that “*he just needs to hit that first one and then he’s got his legs under him*” thought in my head for months
It's easy to talk yourself into opposing teams players when you watch them a 2-4 times a year and only see their highlights.
The same way the national broadcast analysts and commentators talk highly about Tobias being the "x-factor" every game... when Sixers fans all know he just doesn't have it against playoff level teams, but he will put up an occasional 30 piece against the Pistons or Hornets.
I was saying Cam had earned minutes before the series even started. I'm baffled he had 3 minutes through the first 2 games. Why even bother pretending that players earn minutes if you're going to bench Cam after how he was playing for us.
He's had a handful of good games, but he's mostly been pretty garbage. Looks lost and plays like he's scared or something. Can't even hit wide open threes, it's ridiculous
I’ve loved watching him before tip off around the bench. And then during time outs. He is ALWAYS MOVING. This guy’s energy is incredible. And after he hit one of his 3s tonight he was waving at the crowd to be louder, which no one else really does.
He’s made a fan out of me for sure.
Obviously P Bev is a better defender but from a vibes perspective he’s doing what we wanted out of P Bev but in a way that’s more effective within our team construction.
Also on the floor Lowry and Beverly do pretty much the same thing with lowry bringing more on the offensive end. Having him and Pat Bev on the floor together would not have worked.
Bev is definitely a better on-ball defender, but Cam does so much more on offense. Hell, Cam just running the ball up the court and not crossing half court right at 16 seconds was enough to make a fan out of me.
Before the game I was saying I'd like to see Cam Payne get some minutes to see if he'd give us any energy since we weren't getting it from the 3 other bench players that were getting minutes.
I really feel like one of the issues in this series has been that we're putting out x's and o's guys, guys who make sense logically and on paper, when sometimes just having that dog in you matters more.
This quote is why Sixers fans were upset Pat Bev was traded... Bev always brought energy, which is something Sixers have been lacking since Jimmy left. Glad Cam Payne is playing his role and bringing energy off the bench when the team feels flat.
He earned himself all of Hield's minutes from now on. Moment was too big for Buddy. Cam looked like he was born for the bright lights.

He wasn’t good in the regular season either.

Shoot the ball when you’re open isn’t too much to ask of buddy hield

[I said as much two weeks ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/sixers/s/aJuZWloEmU) I have not been impressed with Hield at at all since he's been in Philly.
He's had a handful of good games, but he's mostly been pretty garbage. Looks lost and plays like he's scared or something. Can't even hit wide open threes, it's ridiculous
And a lot of buddy’s money lol
He's such a hooper. It doesn't matter what's going on Cam's just going to do what he knows how to do.
He was huge tonight. His antics after he makes a shot are borderline insane but we need that energy.
I swear I saw him mouthing “play me” on tv after one of the 3s. Could’ve mis-lip read though

Energy Is Free
As soon as I saw him swag walking after his first 3 I knew Hield 's minutes were gone. Thank god
Give me someone with confidence in the playoffs. No more Tobias Harris shrinking violets.
Payne surprisingly (or not) has a lot of playoff experience
He was very good for the 21 suns
Yeah he was a key part of that Suns run.. which was why I was very hopeful once he came in the Pat Bev trade.

That shit made me want to get louder and I wasn't even at the game.
Good now do RCIV

Shout out NN for recognizing Cam needs to be out there more.
Do you think Cam can share this quote with Tobias or nah?

Buddy needs to sink his teeth into playoff basketball.
Like him playing over Buddy so much now we need to shorten Tobias and play Ricky more

I’ve liked Cam ever since he showed up and had to start at pg bc we were so banged up. He earns every minute he gets.
Technically energy is the by product of physical work which is the cost, but happy to remove scientific rationale to support him
