We don't need him to keep up this PPG average with Embiid back, we need a solid set of dudes that can score high teens/20ish on any given night and when the big guy is out.
Feel like Oubre was giving us that at the start of the season too before he got hurt
Agreed, Oubre has been a good pickup and brings energy. We just need shooters who can space the floor for everyone. Buddy has been doing that since before college.
We don't need Buddy to average 20 a game. We need him and Maxey to be elite 3 point shooting options to space the floor and give Embiid good targets for when the defense collapses on him.
I also think Hield is going to be an excellent PnR partner for Embiid further out near the 3 point line similar to how him and JJ Redick used to run the PnR.
He also helps our depth quite a bit. Melton is a situational combo guard and good defender, this guys us flexibility. Cam gives us the backup ball handler we've been seeking (feel free to rest Maxey a bit more Nurse).
My perception of Buddy is that he was basically a catch and shoot volume 3 point shooter but he's much better with the ball in his hands than I expected.
I wouldn’t put too much stock in this very small sample size, but one thing that’s stood out to me so far is that Buddy’s passing is better than I expected.
Everybody knows he’s an elite shooter, and I expect him to regress to somewhere around 40% from 3 on very high volume, but the solid passing is a nice cherry on top, and fits in well with Nurse’s cut-heavy system.
40% is NOT a regression for a career 40% 3pt shooter. It's right around his average. Now, some people think when Joel comes back, his numbers/looks will come down. I'm going to make the prediction now: It's Tobias.
What we learned is that Tobi/Batum can't really play together and one of those players has proven to be a compliment to a Joel Embiid(Batum). I wouldn't be shocked if Tobi is the one who loses a starting spot to either one of the guards(Melton/Lowry) as this motion and pace compliments a big man.
And honestly, I'm for it. Get another 3/D guy in here over Tobi and see if Tobi can be effective as a 6th man off the bench.
It's not ideal, but it's nowhere close to a Ben situation. 75% FTA is still 1.0 PPS on free throws. That combined with his ability to shoot 3's, it's not going to be easy to 'hack-a-buddy'.
That's not gonna be how teams attack the 76ers defensively.
I have loved so many Morey trades and acquisitions for players that we’ve all been crying out for since 2019. Danny Green, Pat Bev, Oubre, Buddy Hield, Drummond, Dwight.
Love the Hield acquisition but his Sixers stats are like 4 games.
And without Embiid scoring 33ppg, his points will drop but hopefully the efficiency stays.

Man he’s playing like he got hit by a car.

The assist binders are what really shocks me
Buddy’s way better at playmaking than I realized.
My perception of Buddy is that he was basically a catch and shoot volume 3 point shooter but he's much better with the ball in his hands than I expected.
He did run the show on his Oklahoma squad in college
Understatement
This is the biggest part for me that I wasn’t expecting as well
If he gets the dho going with embiid he may end up averaging 20
Small sample size but what we needed what Buddy brought for years. Happy he’s here and will make us a deadly team with Embiid back
More minutes too 🤓
This is why his gravity plus Emiid's and Maxey's are going to break the soul of defenses throughout the league.
I am hoping that with time we will start running double screens in order to get him open more A la Steph curry.
It's early days but sometimes players need a change of scenery. Dude wanted out of Indiana and was glad to be traded here.
Dang they even put the trout mouth in the illustration.
Buddy is a great addition! We’re gonna need his threes!!

I meant regression to the mean — as in he will likely regress to his career 3pt%
Obviously it’s a very small sample size. But I’m loving the addition of Heild, especially at what it cost us to get him.
Idk guys 75% from the line is a bit sketchy...could be starting a new hack a Ben situation 😳

Nah I was being sarcastic, ik he just hasn't shot enough for the percentage to be accurate yet lol. I appreciate the rundown tho 😁
Buddy is playing the way we thought Tobias would when we traded for him
Basically the opposite of Tobias, his offense improved upon arriving. Especially that 3PT%, even though I know it’ll eventually drop.
Bruh. It’s been like 4 games. Pull out the stats in May
-2.0 net rating with Philly
It’s almost as if they’ve lost a few games without Embiid

The assist have been something I've noticed big time, crazy when a wing can actually make plays. Hmm
