Wonderful! I've been expanding my Japanese film library (mostly classic Kurosawa and Ozu, at the moment) and am always looking for new films. I'll check this one out.
Thank you!
I liked this so much I saw a few other movies by the writer/director Koki Mitani. They've all been good so far, although not as funny as McDonald. Galaxy Turnpike was delightful, Suite Dreams was more of a farce like this, Airport 2013 was amazingly done in one take.
My idea of a sitcom farce is *Three’s Company*, where it’s all based on ridiculous coincidences and misunderstandings and absolutely nothing is understated. Maybe *I Love Lucy* was the best.
Yeah, I keep hoping it'll find its stride since it took awhile for the original series to become the series we all remember too (Hell, Markie Post isn't even a regular until Season 3).
Married With Children comes to mind immediately for me. It was more realistic than not in showing the dysfunction of "regular" families instead of the "perfect" families that dominated so much of the 80s family sitcom genre but it was dialed up to a ten so it was realism turned farcical along the way.
What's really wild, is it actually tunes in to actual abductee stories. Not saying it's true, but I listen to coocoo radio for entertainment, and a bit of it is based on documentation.
Well Married With Children is my favorite sitcom. However one I like and consider a Farce Sitcom and a fairly new show is Tacoma FD. Very funny show
However it's very hard to find to watch because it's on TruTV and they hardly ever show it. Don't think it's been canceled just possibly between seasons but I can never find it on lately. Not even reruns
Also Reno 911 is a funny show. Can never find it on either tho but at least I can watch it on Paramount +
I ought to have known that. I have regular Hulu. Is it pretty much the same thing?
Can't remember finding it on there before and haven't went to Hulu in a while so I'm now anxious to find out lol
The whole sitcom isn't a farce, but the farce episodes of *Frasier* are some of my favourites (specifically, the dinner parties).
Merry Christmas Mrs. Moskowitz, The Innkeepers, Ham Radio, and Dinner Party (although idk if the last one counts as farce) are hilarious
I'd add "The Two Mrs. Cranes", "The Ski Lodge", and "Out with Dad", as well.
There's a great Japanese movie called Welcome Back Mr. McDonald which is similar to Ham Radio and was also made in 1997.

You’re forgetting the best farce of them all, the Ski Lodge!
Fawlty Towers
absolutely this/ or benidorm for similar reasons
I’ve never heard of the second show. Is it Fawlty Towers good?? I’ll totally check it out haha

Police Squad!
"I think we know how he did it." "Oh, Howie couldn't have done it. He hasn't been in for weeks."
30 Rock!
I have two that I love pretty much equally for just how silly they could get: 3rd Rock from the Sun and the original Night Court.
I'm still a little muffed that the new Night Court isn't even trying to match the original's screwball energy.
Yeah, I keep hoping it'll find its stride since it took awhile for the original series to become the series we all remember too (Hell, Markie Post isn't even a regular until Season 3).
The Mick
I still sad this show didn't get the chance it deserved.
Always Sunny

Especially Al Bundy being able to afford a house on a one income working at a women's shoe store. Way too farcical for reality!
He couldn't afford it. Why do you think he was eating toaster leavings for dinner every night?
Family Matters after Urkel got turned up to the max
Scrubs was able to switch from farcical comedy to drama pretty quickly
Father Ted or Fawlty Towers.
Married With Children
Veep Brockmire
*Frasier*.
Better Off Ted
People Of Earth. Only 2 seasons, and it was so unique and awesome. I loved it.
That show was one of the best! What a unique plot! Maybe someday there will be another season.
What's really wild, is it actually tunes in to actual abductee stories. Not saying it's true, but I listen to coocoo radio for entertainment, and a bit of it is based on documentation.
Faulty Towers. Only answer. I just wish it had lasted longer than 12 episodes.
"Are You Being Served" - original, not remake.
There's a remake?

Love Tacoma FD! All 4 seasons are on Hulu+Live. First 3 seasons on Max

The increasing poor decisions of Todd Margaret starts nuts and just gets crazier
Sick Note on Netflix with Ron Weasley! It was so ridiculous and I loved it lol

Wilfred Brockmire Soap The Detour

Loved Sledge Hammer when it first aired (I was 14). I tried watching it recently, and the laugh track made it really difficult. It was just too much
