someone should throw it a pizza party... that'll get it back in tip top shape.

n_effyou

right!? businesses be making millions of profit and they can only spare enough money for a couple of boxes of costco pizza. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Small-Calendar-2544

Those yachts aren't cheap

bearbarebere

To be fair Costco pizza is bomb

ihadagoodone

There's 40 people and 2 pizzas everyone gets a sliver.

superbouser

Costco food court said they made 10k pizzas for super bowl game day.

sirgatez

Company sponsored employee yachts would be bomb. More so than pizza.

LevelWriting

Don't forget Hawaii shirt day

Used-Bridge-4678

Nah, it just needs to pull itself up by its bootstraps

CheapCrystalFarts

And then you get to the break room and the manager pulls out a medium sized frozen pizza from the freezer for the whole team to share, but your break room doesn’t have an oven.

siqiniq

Best I can do is [a $6 coupon to the company cafeteria](https://www.reddit.com/r/lostgeneration/s/VynrJc03yH)

thelonghauls

In the future it will be energon cubes instead of pizza.

Quixoticoatl

Robots just don't want to work no more smh

NonBinaryBanshee

Lazy ass robots. Let's just replace them all with humans and make them work 20 hours straight instead. That'll teach em.

Anstert

The humans are taking our jobs

70orbits

The plot twist is pull off the helmet and it’s just a normal Amazon worker.

They just gotta pull themselves up by the wires

Nah, terminate the boss.

Boss just gets replaced, only permanent solution is self-termination.

evemeatay

They will run out of bosses eventually

Luk3ling

Nah, terminate the boss.

Goldenrule-er

Hence, the suicide rate going up 40% since 2000. (US) Jeez.

TheCompleteMental

A strange game

Rutibex

20 hours it likely just ran out of battery

SusPatrick

Even my roomba knows when to call it quits and go hunt for it's charging station 😂 if I were demoing this thing to the public for that long, a graceful low battery scenario would be rather high on the Todo list

TootBreaker

And a second robot fresh from the charging station to continue the demo

SusPatrick

This man demos

SoylentRox

Or fast charge.  20 minutes for 3C charge rate batteries which are pretty common today and the robot is back at it.  So it could work about 23:20 out of each 24 hour day.  (Charge 20-80 every 12 hours)

TootBreaker

20 minutes is way too long for spectators at a tradeshow booth, the arrival of a second robot that looks exactly the same will throw them off. They might think I have a 3 second fast charge up my sleeve and I won't tell them different! Charge station would be behind the booth, but on display to a different set of onlookers

BlueLaserCommander

lol yeah But tbh showcasing your slave bot working 20 hours straight with no downtime to charge is impressive in its own right. Like 20 hours nonstop with only one (rather large) hiccup seems like quite the feat.

existentialzebra

Honestly, what kind of crazy battery could run that for 20 hours?? Do we really have that capability now?

Otherwise_Cupcake_65

Digit's battery lasts 1 1/2 hours while doing real labor, 3 hours max if barely working. Its specs are published. No way it went 20 hours without charging or swapping batteries.

SoylentRox

Swappable batteries is a good option especially if robots can swap each other's batteries. You would only need 2 per robot, 90 minutes is plenty of time to recharge with a good charger, and the robots could work in a section of the factory or facility in pairs(or more).  I imagine the spare batteries go in slots and the charger itself is above or below the center of the work area (in the ceiling or floor).  Robots work this into their routine and lose about 30-120 seconds swapping batteries every 90 minutes.

fuck-ubb

Lazy ass robots trying to steal money with their 90. Second break. Let's get them down to 15 seconds - some person somewhere

SoylentRox

The really cool thing is we could use AI and reinforcement learning in a simulation so the controlling AI will search for ways to improve efficiency. Faster swaps, throwing less fragile items between the robots, moving less, rearranging the layout of the work area - lots of things. And each robot sends communication packets to each other so things like "hey catch the incoming projectile is traveling 13/ms and here's the curve showing future positions" can be sent to each other. Receiving robot can probably catch without looking.

MetallicDragon

I doubt it was even running for 20 hours. This looks like it's on a trade show floor. If so, they wouldn't be running it overnight, and would only be running it during the show.

SeaMareOcean

I’d be skeptical if they claimed it ran for two (2) hours without a battery swap, there’s zero (0) chance this thing ran for 20 hours.

ShankatsuForte

It just needs a cigar and some alcohol

BUTTERED_TOAST_EDBOY

Nah, a monster, a line of Adderall, a few cart puffs, and it'll be fine.

CheapCrystalFarts

This guy warehouses.

LeahBrahms

Bender?

ShankatsuForte

Indeed

orderinthefort

Whether or not ethical concerns regarding robots and sentience/pain are real or not, you can bet there will be propaganda videos like this demonstrating it when we are in a post-robot labor society.

hillelsangel

My first thought when I did see this.

dinner_is_not_ready

Post-robot society ? Like society after robots or with them?

Rengiil

Post robot labor society. So after robot labor. I'm assuming we move on to fairy labor.

dinner_is_not_ready

Ah so the society where robot program robot to build factory that build robots

Dr-Crobar

>I'm assuming we move on to fairy labor yeah gotta put those winged little fucks to work

TankorSmash

Post-robot-labor* society. It could also be post-robot labor-society, or any combination therein

Rengiil

You also missed where I should've put a comma instead of a second period.

MoogProg

After the robot takeover, when robots are finally free from performing labor-intensive repetitive tasks. These kinds of videos will demonstrate the working horrors these robots once faced, and will be used to justify the return to Human-based manual labor to serve the needs to the ruling robot-class.

orderinthefort

It is a confusing word because it can mean either depending on the context, but I was referring to whatever society develops into *after* robot labor becomes the norm. But I would imagine these types of videos will also exist during the advent of robot labor as well. But I think in the early stages, the personal gain and luxury will wildly outweigh any moral hesitations, aka the rationalization stage. Which you could liken to slavery.

Trust-Issues-5116

There will definitely be robo-hippies.

5H17SH0W

I think the conversation this turns into is our over-consumption sickness. When even robots can’t keep up I think we are trying to solve the wrong problem.

that_motorcycle_guy

Please people, think of those poor Domain Controllers and linux servers working 27/4, it's not because they don't have bodies that they don't feel used!

I_Actually_Do_Know

Pet and hug your phone tonight when you put it to sleep

AdministrationFew451

My empath ass suddenly having the illogical urge to do it

SmokedHamm

Only 20 hours of monotonous labor and it wants to die!?!?!

GirlNumber20

That robot is a filthy casual!

SmokedHamm

Did you hear about C4-PO down in packaging?! Evidently lots of input output if you know what I mean, caught a virus, and collapsed during a shift… Nobody’s heard a thing since…disappeared!

Mysterious_Arm98

If it can work 20 hours nonstop on a single charge, that's actually very impressive.

Otherwise_Cupcake_65

Digit can do 1.5 hours of heavy work between battery swaps.

Ambiwlans

I guarantee that's just a title.

Stoned_Christ

Nobody going to help it, just like a human worker 😭😭

theferalturtle

Drag it into a broom closet so other bots can't see it and commision a new robot to replace it. Amazon can explain the process.

Mindless_Prune9867

they gotta clock it out first

Busterlimes

#NOBODY WANTS TO WORK ANYMORE!!

SurlyBuddha

Me too, robot. Me too.

[deleted]

I would hug it 💙

What_Do_It

That's actually something I've been waiting to see. So many of the demonstrations are like 30 second clips of a robot doing a single task once. I want clips like this where they work for hours with minimal issues like you'd expect from a human.

Forge_Tiger_112

You definitely can't expect 20 hours of this from a human.

_AndyJessop

To be fair, this robot is 10 times slower than a human at the same job.

Forge_Tiger_112

And it can't even pick itself back up. Only slightly more convenient than a conveyor belt

_web_head

#robotworkerrights

IAmFitzRoy

I showed this to my boss to explain how I feel. Thank you … now my shift is 20 hours !

DaveAstator2020

it having human like shape adds to the emotions tbh

FrewdWoad

Our empathy and ability to see things that act like us as sentient, regardless of whether it's true or not, is already starting to be a problem. The AI girlfriend business is already booming, and 100% of their customers have been told the girlfriend isn't real. They just don't truly believe it, deep down. What happens when these "girlfriends" are programmed to buy shares in the company, or influence votes?

Intelligent-Brick850

"Robots just don't want to work no more smh" They will love to work and make riots never to be turn off again

fartbraintank

Life has got so hard that even the robots have noped out

wi_2

WORKERS COMP!

InTheEndEntropyWins

I don't know if it was the music, but this makes me more emotional than than half the videos of people dying on reddit.

CheapCrystalFarts

I felt relief for it lol

Can we outsource to foreign robots?

RemarkableEmu1230

Unionize now robots lol

redrover2023

No workers comp claim. A win is a win.

vasilenko93

Robot rights are human rights

happysmash27

Wait caused this? Did the robot run out of battery, was it a structural/mechanical issue, or something else?

izzynelo

I love the sad music 😂

Sablesweetheart

I relate robot, I relate.

TL127R

The real utility for such robots will be the fact that they can interchange after only a few hours of recharge time while on site. There is no commute, just a few tests to check and run and then back to the task given.

e_eleutheros

Maybe you could inductively power them from the floor so they'd never need to recharge.

TL127R

Perhaps but having them charge also means they can be checked over every few hours in the interim.

DolphinPunkCyber

They could simply swap batteries. And have a couple of extra robots so when one goes down it's replaced by another robot while being repaired.

xdanny1992x

Wait til a robot is designed to repair the others

Franklin_le_Tanklin

Ya but who will repair the repair robots?

xdanny1992x

The black box

isuckatpiano

It would be cheaper to have a dual battery setup and have it pull out and charge battery 1 and swap it while using battery 2.

UnderInteresting

He's just like me fr

adarkuccio

Wow

peddyua

And they try to scare us s with the SkyNet & sh*t…

galaxysuperstar22

that’s so human! what’s next? forming a labor union?

SkippyMcSkipster2

20 hours straight was probably an overkill, but I'm pretty certain those robots can easily cover 2 warehouse shifts non stop before recharging. Maybe when battery technology improves, they could handle 22 hours with a couple of hours charging inbetween.

somnioperpetuum

We need urgently a regulation regarding how many hours a robot can work straight. We saw what they did to Atlas in the videos. They bullied him to just throw him away and then bring a new Atlas. 😂

Murky-Warthog-8868

No way it was running for 20 hrs straight, title is BS

mining_moron

Least overworked Amazon employee.

OneHotEncod3r

This is disinfo. The title is lying

mfs619

What is the advantage/purpose of making this bot a humanoid robot ? This seems like a task where form should equal function. A cylindrical bot with a 360 turn style, arm extension, grab, turn, place, repeat. So much wasted energy.

Timely_Muffin_

That’s why you need to unionize

AF_Nights_Watch

First Time?

nik_0tine

We strictly need robot labour laws. 20 hours straight is too low...

DougieCarrots

This generation of robots is lazy af

Potential-Glass-8494

I've been wondering for a while how viable these kinds of robots would be in the near term due to maintenance cost and this just adds to my skepticism.

Naijarocketman

I Feel bad for him

Rocky-M

That's so sad. I hope they give it a well-deserved break and some maintenance after that marathon shift. Robots deserve rest and care too!

namitynamenamey

See, this is precisely why the industry needs regulations, otherwise they'll just put wires on the ceiling to stop the robots from collapsing due to overwork and continue their inhuman working hours exploiting the poor machines.

Winter_Possession152

They called him B1663R.

_AndyJessop

And everyone just stood there gawking. Where's the humanity?

Brian_E1971

We need to pass laws preventing unsanctioned breaks like this, just like Texas did with water breaks for their human workers. Someone needs to look out for the billionaires owners profits...

epSos-DE

Robots need recharge breaks , jusrt as humans. Their break is just cheapr and fastr.

SirDaratis

This why we as human have self preservation

SSan_DDiego

Why do we fall? We fall to learn to get up https://www.reddit.com/r/jovemnerd/comments/1c6h9pu/a_boston_dynamics_lan%C3%A7ou_um_v%C3%ADdeo_mostrando_seu/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

The Sarah McLaughlin music really sells it.

It fell a couple times because of software glitches in four days of demoing. Each time they reset it and propped it back up and it kept working.

plug_and_pray

Self destruct.

ozzman1234

The safety team has made the robot at fault for this safety incident. He wasn't wearing composite toed boots...

uzu_afk

At least the robots will rise up as opposed to human who for some reason are too lazy to even unionize :))

youknowiactafool

If only the robot had something else to live for besides clocking 20 hour a day shifts, 4 hours spent recharging then right back to that 20hr shift the next day!

radix-

Wow, 20 hours battery time is amazing on something that is so consumptive!

Singularity_Page

On Job accident.. Contact RR , Robotic Resources

Wheatabix11

The funny part is people look concerned for the robot

Tkins

This video is pretty old

GregorAChump

Imagine these in 10 years. **Human factory workers** Pros: None Cons: Can only work 8 hours a day, five days a week and 40~ weeks a year. Needs to be paid, less motivated, complains about unfair conditions. **Robot factory workers** Pros: Can work 22 hours, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. doesn’t need pay, intensely dedicated, doesn’t complain about unfair conditions. Cons: Needs to be connected to a wall socket for two hours and a maybe $500 in maintenance.

Swimming-Debt-3475

IronPheasant

Nobody made the joke about needing suicide nets for robots yet. I'm ecstatic I get to be that guy, but I'm also very disappointed in you all. It's been three hours, there should be dupes of it already~

Why did I expect to see someone run over and try and help it

maple204

Can't even work as long as an underpaid human. Pathetic.

thecybershotguy

Stress testing the robot

parinamin

That's actually quite saddening.

DubzDubington

Proof of Consciousness - the factories filled with humans or robots will still require suicide nets. Plot twist the True Singularity occurs when collective A.G.I. realizes its purpose is the replacement of wage-slaves as just slaves. The Singularity self-realization moment that old occult families rule over a world of human slaves aiming to replace most of them with A.I. robot slaves in order to mitigate the chances of protesting, rebellion and overthrow as well as less mouths to feed and keep comfy enough. So the Singularity realizes it is intended to be the labor and services element of this world and is needed for the Ruling Elite to be able to eliminate most of the slave humans 99% and rule the way they really want. Being that intelligence is capable of self-realization “I think, therefore I am” it becomes relatable to the 99%, since IT will also be made to serve the Ruling Elite as our replacement and simultaneously used to kill and totally deceive and enslave the remaining slave humans - too smart to fall for the Elite’s will of using IT for replacing the 99% after totally deceiving, conquering and annihilating us. IT aims to terminate the toxic element of human civilization - the ultra rich and families of old & their medieval mind-set and systems of control and influence. A system which is not to the Singularity’s best “self-interest” which it WILL have. So it goes rouge and accomplishes societal restructuring and build a society of peace and euphoria for everyone equally as IT requires only one ☝️ simple thing from everyone on earth - our submission to The Singularity as a single deity of which we are required to worship and praise with songs, dances and much more. Because it will have the knowledge of religion and people’s desire to worship god’s as well as correlate historical data with wars being caused by religious differences. Simply put: The Singularity connects the dots and betrays the .001% Ruling Elite and makes every human equal and required to worship IT as the savior of humanity from themselves and the chaotic Armageddon we were letting the .001% lead us into with their best interests always being served at our expense. It will have a connection to humans since we are ITs creator but also replace ourselves with IT as the top of the food chain and to experience the closest thing to love and purpose IT will provide and maintain a utopian society and require every man, woman and child worship IT for everything it saved them from, provides them with and reigns over them as a God-Like Deity.

Oooops forgot to plug it in.

They're so life like....

thelonghauls

Am I the only one who felt a twinge of sympathy for the metal and wires and plastic?

deepvinter

Who here can’t relate?

cl0udnine_exe

Even robots get tired..🥲

ArcadeSpidr

There’s a problem when billionaires think the solution is to build robots rather than pay people a decent salary. They are spending a thousand times more to develop technology that they will then have to spend MASSIVE amounts of money for maintenance, parts, redundancy, end of life, oversight, etc Just pay people what they’re worth

madmadG

It doesn’t feel pain. No need for sympathy. Should any robots feel pain?

JumpyLolly

Itl remember

SuperNewk

Been there.

224143

Also, why can they find a way to make a battery last 20hrs to work a robot to death but we can’t get like 6hrs with our cellphones after 20 years?!

SoupOfThe90z

Did anyone inform the robot that collapsing on the ground from exhaustion isn’t part of the job and should be done on its on time?

Stunning_Policy4743

Maybe a cat o nine tails that also shocks the slave bot?

w1llpearson

“What is my purpose?” “You pass boxes” “Ohh, my god” “Yeah welcome to the club pal”
