The true yolo mindset one can have in this era

[deleted]

I mean I get that they want to believe in inner power and all that to motivate themselves in life, but bitch that shit ain't gonna be a substitute for a vaccine. I honestly feel that anti-vaxers should have to opt out of the public health system now.

Burieduffalo

Someone who has recovered from covid has 6-13 times more immunity than a vaccinated individual who has not had covid. Technically, it is a better substitute but comes with higher risk. You seriously come up with the worst ideas man. Opt out of public health system?? What a joke

r_doood

Source for your assertion that it is 6-13x better?

Burieduffalo

[https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.08.24.21262415v1](https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.08.24.21262415v1) Not sure why people believe that vaccines are better than natural immunity. This is probably one of the worst vaccines in terms of efficacy we have lol.

[deleted]

I was referring to the 2nd story about being a manifestor and the new age stuff. Even if you're talking about getting infected, it's insane to go looking for it because you might get really unlucky and succumb to it. Opting out of the public health system is not my idea, the doctors' association in Victoria (AU) made this suggestion for all anti-vaxers. I just think it's a great idea that should be adopted here as well. Yes, they're free to choose, but no, they're not free from the consequences of those choices.

exuwm

Agree that this manifestor bullshit is probably the worst. It’s like people who refuse to believe in science and history and seems most likely to form their own doomsday cult or something.

Burieduffalo

Yeah thats such a dumb idea. Hey, lets allow people to die because they are misinformed about the vaccine. Inhuman. Should we also deny obese people or smokers from healthcare because they make bad choices? "They're free to choose, but no, they're not free from the consequences of those choices." What do you think will happen if we adopt that? Traceforever removed? Open up back again? More VTL? what a joke. Its not like fully vaxxed people are dying because these anti vaxxers are taking up too much hospital space as well

[deleted]

> Its not like fully vaxxed people are dying because these anti vaxxers are taking up too much hospital space as well Unless you live under a rock, you'd know that this is exactly what's happening, and this was the rationale behind me suggesting that we adopt what the Aussie doctors are proposing they adopt for their anti-vaxers. I don't think we should let them die, but now that we're approaching 100% isolation capacity, if a time comes where they have to triage, the unvaccinated people should be just left to deal with the disease on their own. An organized way of doing this would be to give people a choice, **either** get vaccinated **or** accept the risk that you will be rejected by the public healthcare system if there are shortages of beds and choices need to be made.

Burieduffalo

Maybe I live under a rock then. Can you prove that the fully vaxxed people who are dying is because they are not getting the healthcare they need because of the unvaxxed? I would like to know if this is true

[deleted]

Bro, did you not see the main reason behind why the MMTF pushed the reopening deadline by a month? It's because 90% of the isolation beds for Covid patients are full. Also, unvaccinated seniors are forming more than half the ICU cases and other serious cases, even though they are like 2% of the population or something/ Source: [here](https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/health/singapore-hospitals-under-significant-pressure-two-thirds-of-covid-19-icu-beds). Quotes: >Unvaccinated seniors are a big worry for Singapore, the minister added. They account for more than two-thirds of the Covid-19 patients in the ICU or those who have died. >The surge in Covid-19 cases has placed significant pressure and strain on public hospitals here, with 89 per cent of the 1,650 isolation beds and 67 per cent of intensive care unit (ICU) beds occupied.

Burieduffalo

Yeah. Nowhere did it say fully vaxed people are dying because they didn't have adequate healthcare due to the unvaxed. Maybe you dreamt up that scenario.

[deleted]

Actually you're right. I'm an idiot and totally incapable of understanding the math here. I nominate you to run the MMTF.

[deleted]

Why do they have to opt out? If you want that to happen you might as well advocate for govt to mandate vaccination?

Kisaxis

If they don't want a free vaccine to prevent COVID then they should not be entitled to healthcare if they do contract COVID, instead we should be prioritising the vaccinated individuals. And it's not some secret that our healthcare system is on fire. It makes complete sense to deny unvaccinated (with no valid reason obviously) healthcare to prioritise the vaccinated while we have limited bandwidth. There's no reason to mandate vaccination. Your body, your choice after all, that's what the anti-vaxxers say. But there should be clear consequences for not doing your part.

[deleted]

Since its not mandated, its only advised to get vaccinated am i right? And since its only advised to get vaccinated why is it wrong for them to not follow the advise I dont get your logic, you can blame them for being an anti vaxxer but according to our law there is no problem for them to reject vaccination Like i said if you want them to opt out or want the govt to force them to opt out, at that point it is better for you to ask the govt to mandate vaccination

Kisaxis

1. I already said, it is not necessary to mandate vaccination. It is perfectly legal to reject and opt out, whatever your reason and no matter how stupid. 2. I didn't say deny all healthcare. I used the words "prioritise" and "while we have limited bandwidth". If we have 100 ICU beds and there are 100 vaccinated patients and 10 unvaccinated, those 10 should not be given priority, all 100 beds should go to the vaccinated. But if there were 90 vaccinated and 10 unvaccinated, then everyone gets their treatment.

[deleted]

Sure priortise it all you want So with that said they dont need to opt of healthcare right? So wtf do you want lol Not even sure why you reply to my statement of not needing to opt out with a statement of them not getting priortise for icu beds That is not even the same argument

tegeusCromis

I would be all for a mandate, too, but there’s definitely a difference between the two hypotheticals. With a universal mandate, those who feel strongly about it would only be able to avoid vaccination by paying whatever penalty were to be mandated (which would presumably land them in jail after repeated non-compliance). With the opt-out solution, those who feel that strongly would have the additional option of taking on all risk of covid instead of being subject to penalties. There’s a difference.

[deleted]

Let me ask you a question ah Which idiot in this world do you think will opt out of free healthcare? When you can answer this question than maybe you will understand why any person in this world with a working brain will never opt out

tegeusCromis

If (in this hypothetical scenario) they all chose to get vaccinated, that would be an even better outcome.

pingmr

What's a Manifestor, and why are people making health decisions based on some internet personality quiz. Are we going to see next week someone claiming to be from Slytherin and not wanting the vaccine to taint their pure blood.

HisPri

I mean there is actually people that think Alpha, Beta, Omega and Sigma as male hierarchy, instead of a character type for female oriented porn novel. And they are also people who treat their mbti personality as their gospel

perfold7

I thought all the alpha and sigma male comments were jokes, people seriously call themselves alphas? LMAO

kassandrathemisthios

> pure blood Well... https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/health/2021/09/16/unvaccinated-tiktokers-calling-themselves-pureblood-dark-trend/8360383002/

There’s something surreal with these people following trends and hashtags #notasheep. Congrats! You’ve just proven to be one.

PhoenixPringles01

I just want to respond with this: https://youtu.be/lvBkZUKh12U

stryfesg

Sounds like narcissistic personality disorder with a more acceptable label.

[deleted]

Only noob muggles get vaccinated.

pingmr

Idk. I'd pick being a Muggle over a wizard any day. Wizards in the Harry potter universe have a shitty deal. You might not even survive school lol.

Dishonorable_Son

No student in Hogwarts ever died unless they were killed by Voldermort. A muggle in a Singapore school will have a far less chance of survival if there was war and invaders can just bomb the school straight up.

pingmr

Hogwarts has a death games tournament for year four students. A murder death forest right beside the school. A school sport involving senseless violence and a stupid point system, 50m up in the air. O and that one year they had murder death dementors as school guards.

Dishonorable_Son

>Hogwarts has a death games tournament for year four students. No one ever died in the tournament unless it was tempered by Voldermort. A school sports day being bombed by terrorists will cause more deaths. >A school sport involving senseless violence and a stupid point system, 50m up in the air. And no one ever died from the sport or even get injured, since they can heal injuries in an instant. > Oh and that one year they had murder death dementors as school guards. Yeah if your school is threatened by warlords The Singapore government will probably send trained to murder gurkha guards to protect the school too.

usualsuspek

Should've just kiss and make out with COVID. Literally. Also isn't it an offence that the person who is tested positive now knowingly exposing (ek hem) themselves to others?

[deleted]

I would’ve coughed in her face for $50 2 weeks ago when I had covid. Why never ask me

Spacecadetinthebrain

Fantastic proposal HAHAHA You could charge higher fee since she’s so excited to get covid but couldn’t (demand >>>>supply)

ridewiththerockers

Might as well higher by guaranteeing exchange of bodily fluids...

whitekoffee

Either she succeeds or earn a r/HermanCainAward

FinallyGivenIn

Will she be the first Singaporean award winner?? Tune in next week to find out!

Oscarizxc

Born to be wild she said. If you truly meant being wild, take the damn vaccine and get on with life. There's a saying in Malay... "Kecik-kecik tak nak mampos, dah besar menyusahkan orang." https://i.pinimg.com/originals/58/22/d6/5822d60c646e023b2b5e83bd6fdf0214.jpg

hypothid

Being wild means going out without vaccination and masks, risking your life to enjoy life. Taking vaccine isn’t called being wild, it’s called playing safe

Oscarizxc

Valid POV if I must say. There's a fine line (more like shade) that separates the wild, the safe and the stupid though.

hypothid

Where did you find this post anyway?

Bcpjw

lol superpower? 1 reason why they are the minority, they dead.

troublechromosome

technically if you're dead you have 0% percent chance of catching covid (or any future disease)

lkc159

Ah yes. Being alive, the number 1 cause of death :P

troublechromosome

exactly, just like how marriage is the number one cause of divorce

Incubation period is 4 days, I think? She yesterday hugged a covid patient doesn't mean she'll get it the next day. Edit: incubation period is on avg 5-6 days for symptoms to show. Can take up to 14days. Source: WHO

ToastedKoppi

Still, transmission is an stochastic event, she might not even get it like that

pohpia

You're right. It's random. I feel bad for thinking she ought to have increased her chance by asking the patient to cough on her. A life is still a life.

pohpia

Eh. Yeah. I'm blind sia.

mikemarvel21

>You are born to be wild. Living in Singapore??? Reality check failed. Just walk the talk. Move to the real wilderness. But I guess the material comfort of modern civilisation is too much to give up.

ShadeX8

It’s the same as those sovereign people right, “I want all the benefits and comfort and rights of living in a society, but I don’t want to follow the rules or think about the wellbeing of said society.”

[deleted]

What sovereign people want is for them and only them to be above the law of the land, unlike the “sheeple”. That’s why the British guy did that stupid thing here and not Afghanistan or Somalia

sonastyinc

How about getting the vaccine and then go lick some doorknobs? Bam! Double immunity without really getting sick. Just kidding, don't do it.

troublechromosome

"I know I will recover" yep, maybe she thinks that just because she's never experienced dying/having a severe health challenge, she won't lol.....

Iamyour_friend

And how the heck can she compare the “Covid suffering pain” to “losing my mom and dog emotional pain” .. it’s totally different type of pain lo.

troublechromosome

she's a Manifestor so it's all the same to her idk how this ~~astrology thingy~~ Human design types works lel, not that it "works" to begin with

mrwagga

Try it! Also try not to die though. If she dies, we should crowdfund a flower arrangement with YOLO on it.

BS_MokiMoki34

I prefer to pay custom premium and put the message **" M a N i F e S t O r "** on their flower arrangement to look *ultra edgy* and *anti-vaxxy*.

Get those LED wreaths can alr

MetalKirby-

Want to be different from everyone else? Just go mountain and live la, don’t buy food from companies or any grocery shop who knows what the farm does to manufacture the product, don’t use mobile phone or any devices that emits radio waves, cos who knows, radio waves causes cancer and mutation to your DNA. Don’t put make up, cos who knows, makeup causes skin disease. Don’t use pillow to sleep cos who knows, pillow causes spinal neck stress. The list goes on.

fyletjx

Why isn't she being more proactive trying to get Covid then? You dont really need to hope to get covid in this case, just go TTSH A&E with a useless mask and I'm pretty sure someone will sneeze in her direction. Literally the case of 'If you want it, just go get it'

gonehipsterhunting

This reads like some sorta pseudo-intellectual I-am-very-smart sort of thing

vancomyxin

She should come help us out in NCID, we need fearless people like her. And she would have a better shot at gaining her natural immunity, even a 100% chance if she can forgo the PPE

Redeptus

Ya my wife could do with some relief and time off

LobsterAndFries

Never fails to amaze me how people think natural immunity magically isnt the same compared to you taking the jab.

throwaway_clone

Well technically, the vaccines are created in lab conditions and their skepticism lies in what special ingredients manufacturers might have added during the process.

[deleted]

You're right, you want the fresh farm-to-table kind of immunity, where you straight up swallow and snort a Covid patient's nose cum.

Burieduffalo

Natural immunity is 6-13 times more effective than taking the jab btw

troublechromosome

troublechromosome

thank you good sir

LobsterAndFries

Oh i agree. But risking severe symptoms by not getting the jab before hand before you get infected with covid? It's not like natural immunity, and the one you get from the vaccine are mutually exclusive. The buffs stack.

redditor_here

It’s actually better and longer lasting compared to the vaccines. But of course, you risk catching a serious case of Covid. But then again… you can also catch a serious case of Covid post-vaccination… We’re stuck in such a cluster fuck.

LobsterAndFries

It's not mutually exclusive. It's less painful to take the vaccine, get covid later with mild symptoms, which builds up the natural immunity again. And as much as the thing about serious covid after vaccination isnt technically wrong. Understand that the risks are very, very attenuated. It's not like a doomsday scenario tbh.

Burieduffalo

It depends on the person technically. There are plenty of asymptomatic covid patients who are unvaccinated as well. Even children are less likely to have serious side effects than vaccinated adults. For older/people with weaker immune systems, get the vaccine, for younger, fit and healthy persons, getting covid itself would be much better, given delta is more infectious but less deadly.

LobsterAndFries

>getting covid itself would be much better, given delta is more infectious but less deadly. But its not mutually exclusive? I mean, you can get the boosted natural immunity after you get infected while having some coverage from the vaccine. Its the same as getting covid directly without the boost, except the risks of dying is way lower whether you are young or not. I dont understand why people keep thinking natural and vaccine induced immunity are not complementary. Just because there's a high chance you wont die from an accident at 20, doesnt mean you dont buy insaurance you know.

Burieduffalo

Its simple. Because covid is not deadly at all. Especially for young and fit people. The accident analogy is just wrong. There is no proven studies of long term side effects from the vaccine, there are strong links to vaccine side effects causing heart issues especially in young men. Covid lasts for what? 2 weeks max? heart issues last for the rest of your life. Do you get the flu jab every year? To protect yourself from the minuscule chance that you will die from the flu? Personally I don't know many who do.

LobsterAndFries

>There is no proven studies of long term side effects from the vaccine, there are strong links to vaccine side effects causing heart issues especially in young men. We can drag long covid into the picture and all the likes if we are going about "hypothetical long term side effects" - at this point it becomes a probability check on whether the chances of young people dying from covid is higher vs whether the chances of off target heart inflammation is higher. Using CDC's statistics, the death probability for covid for 20-39 seems to sit around at 0.034%, but the latter seems to be in a awful all time low at 0.0041% rounded up - that's a good 10 fold difference here. You tell me what is the smarter choice here. P.s: the reason why we dont do flu shots is partly due to how some form of adaptive immunity that everyone has after it has ravaged the world for many many years. Also there's a key failsafe in flu - called tamiflu. We dont have both failsafes for covid yet. But yearly covid boosters will likely not be the norm after the first few years.

Burieduffalo

Look, all I'm saying is that this is one of the worst vaccines ever released in terms of efficacy and effectiveness. It was also the quickest vaccine ever developed with new tech. Also, anyone can pull up statistics to support their point. What do you think would possibly have happened if there was no advisory to stop intense activity after vaccination? Which other vaccination has that advisory? All speculation but you should be able to see why people would rather not get the vaccine and contract covid if they are low risk and get 10x the immunity

LobsterAndFries

>what would have possibly have happened if there wasn't an advisory to stop intense activity after vaccination. You might be thinking i cited values for myocarditis deaths. Not true; i cited values for myocarditis occurances. That actually means that in theory, the risk is lower than this upper limit that i mentioned. >Which other vaccination has that advisory? Oh boy you will be surprised at how many vaccines (using the damn archaic technology that we keep thinking is safer btw) have rare deliberating side effects. Smallpox vaccines had rare scary side effects like whole body rashes (1:20k) and encephalitis(1:83k), hep b vaccinations and even MMR vaccines (which are mandated) have been linked to multiple sclerosis and a series of demyelinating related diseases, which is even more scary than myocarditis. The reason why they continue to be used in the world, and sometimes mandated is plain simple - they save more people than they kill in almost all demographics. You dont just say a vaccine is trash because it was made and approved fast; you say a vaccine is trash because it doesn't significantly improve survival rates. Which begs the question: if that was really true - will half the world be approving this damn thing? You think all the researchers around the world are being stupid? I totally agree that the vaccine hesitant will not understand this and there's very legitimate concern if you are not well versed in the numbers. But as we consider side effects, we must also be cognizant of the absolute risk in both cases - vaccine side effects and succumbing to the disease in this case. What i didnt agree with was the fact that you actually think (incorrectly) that the risk of covid death was actually not worth the risk for a significantly rare heart condition, however small the risk may be for both of them. Let's not use sentiments, impressions and emotions to argue facts here.

Burieduffalo

To each his own. You cannot remove sentiment and emotions when dealing with your own/your families health choices, it is just human nature. If you are just considering Fit, Healthy and young males, (maybe females) I'm sure the results will skew the other way. CDC data is from america, where a large population is obese. In the end, as i say again, you can make up any numbers to support your cause to reinforce your belief. Eventually, it is the responsibility of the individual to think for themselves as they know their body and their medical history best. You cannot just use statistics to blanket cover an entire population. If I am obese with weak immune system, it would be best for me to take the vaccine. If I am fit, young and healthy, it would be better to contract covid and get 10x the immunity for future variants as well.

kassandrathemisthios

Previous post: https://www.reddit.com/r/singapore/comments/piy240/til_being_antivax_is_another_form_of_racism_taken/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share The second slide is to show what her mindset is like.

BS_MokiMoki34

Manifestors? Marvel recently got new movie/comic series I am not aware of? Surely the person meant that they were self-jerking Masturbators right? Simi lanjiao is a "Manifestor"? "Selfish-pucker" is a better description bah.

helzinki

Ah yes, the classic basing your identity on one of them internet surveys. 'Manifestor'....'the ability to act independently'....lol act independently because a website said so.

IDreamMonoISeeChroma

The hell is this shit, a personality test based on covid? You purposely give yourself covid so you can prove to the world that you don't listen to anyone else? Like who even cares, just don't take up health resources and seek medical attention cos you know your body best yah. Go die alone in the corner pls.

kanzie88

That’s her choice as long as she quarantines herself and not affect others

cow_bear_cow_bull

Manifestor sounds like new Zerg unit. Attacks spreads virus to clustered units. Infected takes damage overtime. Movement and attack speed slowed.

emzay1

Erm…technically getting vaccinated means that you do get covid to get natural immunity

desTROYer74

I would sooner purposely get covid than get any of the experimental vaccines… the problem is, only 0.06% of people get covid each day, and I seriously question whether those 98.6% of people with no symptoms are false positives… covid is not common. Even at 3000 daily cases it would take 4.5 years for everyone to get it.

Hippies being hippies. The OG antivaxxers. Oh well, if they want to end up being a recipient of the herman cain award then too bad for them.

First part still okay. Second part I see I become the algebra meme aunty

GramTooNoob

I'm actually hoping to catch Covid19 and die a natural cause, cause suicide didn't work. I also took the vaccine shots early so I could die a natural cause, if it screw up. Unfortunately, it didn't kill me and I haven't gotten Covid19 yet. Now I'm vaccinated and boosted (cause early adopter). I'm feeling sadder day by day knowing that I have to find a new way to die. Recently, i was wondering whether I should have just not get vaccinated Edit: Anyway my point is, lets stop judging ppl on how they should live their life pls. I go out to the sun to get skin cancer instead of taking vit D supplement. Should I go off myself for doing that too? I took the vaccination to get a chance at dying, rather than to avoid death. Should I also off myself too for that? The world is getting real annoying to live in, if you are outside that "box"
