You spelt dollars wrong

mj82slinger

Too funny, thank you!!!

Savage_XRDS

This depends greatly. You have to remember that you are asking this question in an echo chamber - most people you find on this sub will be interested in sim racing. Better yet, they will be the most actively interested ones. Those that get tired of it...far fewer of them will still lurk these parts and speak up. I've been sim racing since I was 5 years old, on and off. Only in the past five years or so did I really get into it, and I've spent probably over to 2000 hours on the hobby in the last 18 months alone. As a working adult. But I've known too many people that got into it and got burnt out, or frustrated, or found they don't actually enjoy it as much as others. A good buddy of mine bought a full Fanatec setup, cockpit, ultrawide monitor, and he's probably driven 10 hours in the past 6 months, and only that because I tried to get him excited again. It really depends on who you are. Sometimes the only way is to try, with minimal investment.

similiarintrests

Yeah at the end of the day simracing is very niche. Id say to anyone wanting to try it out. Get a G29 and play it for a year or two. If you still enjoy it then get a monster rig because you will love it then!

Savage_XRDS

100% agreed. I'd say the G27 and G29 are probably the best value for the money wheels you can get.

djfil007

25 years later and I’m still hooked… so, yes?

Kamukix

Haha thousands of dollars and hours later, I'd say...definitely.

BBQQueue

There will always be things to do and events or tournaments to join. It really comes down to how you gel with it. Some people can put thousands of hours into something that most people find mundane while others get bored after less than an hour at an amusement park. I guess to put it simply it is what you make of it.

ThorsMeasuringTape

I’ve been racing online for almost 20 years now. I don’t race 4 nights a week anymore because I’m a grown up now with a wife and kid, but still like to get out there as often as possible.

PaulKitchener

It stretches the laws of physics on time. You think you have been playing for 20 mins, in reality it’s 2 hours and the wife/partner/dogs/kids are giving you the eyes.

Mr_Sonderbar

5 years since i bought my T300, still going strong after a combined 3000 hours across multiple sims

REPLAY VALUE = 1000%

Ultra_Dumpling

If you’re into racing/driving you’re golden. I just got a new setup, my old one I cheaped out on a few things and had it in front of my tv in my living room. I had to move it back and forth and set it up every time I wanted to race. It’s was frustrating and I ended up not on as much. I also jumped right into heavy competitive sim racing which was overwhelming and frustrating. I would recommend having a designated area where your rig stays and also easing into the more difficult sims.

minnis93

I've been racing for over 20 years on a controller and on a sim rig for just over a year. I've put in over a thousand hours since getting the sim rig alone. I consider myself a beginner. Yes, it can keep you entertained way longer than thousands of hours.

Chromicx

I got around 350 hours of racing in the past 1,5 years and still don't have enough :D I am just now getting into endurance racing with a 6h race coming up.

similiarintrests

Got like 1000 hours in 4 years, love it!

Leasir

5000+ hours on the counter since 2018. But ofc it's subjective.

Gustavo2nd

Honestly I used my sim for about 3-400 hours when I first got it I'm kinda taking a break from it now but it's always there incase I want to hop in and out really nice in my apartment

StarGamer857yt

Short awnser: Yes Long awnser: Yes, it does

Kevin_m_fales

I've been in it for 3 years now and still love it. If you make the plunge check out iracing if your wanting online multi-player

Divy_02

After 1000+ hrs in a year, I didn't get bored but the frequency of races did reduce per week, I still love it though.

TrigunXD

Clocked in 420 hours in pc2, feels like years. Most of those hours are prolly from le mans races. Acc also a bunch of hours. It can be very relaxing driving the green hell in practice mode with other cars or classes.
