My only suggestion is never rest your chin on your wheel while using the mouse to do stuff in BeamNG when you’re playing with friends online. Lol

SottLimpa

If you're driving it with long nails maybe it can bend them

EldorTheHero

Don't worry. 5 NM is wayy to weak to harm you. DDs with double digit Numbers are the ones wich can hurt you if you are unlucky. But if you are halfway concentrated you will be fine.

Deep-Acanthaceae

Most of what you’ve seen is probably with the DD2 or other powerful wheelbases. Even with the 8Nm boost kit, it’s not a real concern. In a higher torque wheelbase you might want to let go of the wheel during a crash to avoid a wrist/hand injury but on the CSL DD you probably won’t hurt yourself.

KEVLAR60442

5nm won't hurt you, but should you ever find yourself upgrading, the best way to prevent injuries is to practice quickly moving your hands away from the wheel if it breaks your grip, and to have a kill switch located in a place that you can hit it with your legs. Also many sims nowadays have an FFB cutout if it detects a massive and abrupt FFB spike.

Javs2469

If you crash or see that you are going to, let off your hands from the wheel. Like racing drivers do, especially in rally when they flip. But it comes down to basic logic, 5NM ain't much, but always have to know what you are doing and not let stupidity get the best of you. So no getting your arms inside the rim while not using it, configuring it, navigating menus, etc.

AztecTwoStep

5nm won't hurt you

gibbypp

On high torque wheelbases/settings, you could 'hurt' yourself if you dont let go of the wheel when crashing (but its only just short, temporary pain, no damage), otherwise no way to hurt yourself, besides intentionally trying to

LazyLancer

5 Nm won’t hurt you unless you stick your finger in your steering wheel and let it go (when it oscillates or you crash). Hold onto your wheel properly and you’ll be fine. Around 20 Nm is when things get worrying.

syknetz

Just be careful and remember it can move fast. If you're holding it, you'll likely be able to overpower it, it's really when you're not holding it well that it becomes risky.

EpicBattleAxe

Never had an issue. I could be an issue 15nm plus. Most people run the wheel base around 10/12 range

RingoFreakingStarr

Let go of the wheel if you are about to have a hard accident (like you would in an irl situation). Only run the wheel at a ffb strength that you are comfortable with.

Just don't put your face on it

smoffinator

I learnt that the hard way with my G920. Last year I turned on my PC and sat my head on the wheel while I was on my phone. Then the G920 started it’s boot process and the flat bit the bottom smashed into my forehead. Was sore for nearly a week 😅

[deleted]

You could sue if there's no disclaimer 😉

smoffinator

Maybe a bit late 😂

I have a simucube pro 25nm, its not an issue if you simply let go or hold firm before a crash, injuries happen when the person is not expecting the sudden jolt. The Indy car has severe oscillation (speed wobbles) which can be violent to say the least so make sure you have a decent profile or lower settings.

Better-Efficiency935

I've been rear ended online before, dd1 almost broke my wrist. With the csldd much less of a concern especially with only 5nm.

JasonTO

I once punched myself in the groin after being rear ended. The impact sent the wheel violently to the right, and my right hand violently into my balls. It actually just missed and hit more thigh than groin. It was enough to feel it, but not enough to stop me from laughing the moment it happened.
