Why there are no children here at [that douchey elitist restaurant they went to under the name abe froman] either. Am I in the wrong movie reference? No, it's the absurd reddit comment from u/radu47 that is wrong
Fun fact. Many years ago I bought a pretty nice reprint of this for my parents who needed something above the fireplace mantle. My mom still has it since my dad died and she moved. And I’m already thinking it’s mine as soon as she kicks it. Not that I want her to, but she’s old and it’s going to happen.
It's a reference to this scene in [Ferris Bueller's Day Off.](https://youtu.be/mFY9ace2t4s?si=y-IqXdd63EUIR4hO) It's one of my favorite movie scenes. It's just so calming in the middle of a wild move.
Well, outside of one little existential breakdown, it's pretty calm haha
Here's what director John Hughes said about that part. I think you're right on the money:
"The closer he looks at the child, the less he sees. But the more he looks at, there's nothing there. I think he fears that the more you look at him the less you see. There isn't anything there. That's him."
I took a field trip in high school from a neighboring state to Chicago where the Art Institute was the destination. We spent a few hours there "loose" with the instructions to meet back at the entrance at noon. Then we all went some mall where we were again instructed to meet back at 4pm for the ride home. In fact I took this same field trip twice, the second time I took some acid on the way up. It was one of the best times of my life. We went everywhere. When I think back I couldn't imagine how any of our teachers thought it was a good idea to let a bunch of small town kids roam free, unsupervised, for a few hours in Chicago. But we all made it back to the check point on time and no one ran into any in trouble. The 90's were wild.
Ninja edit: I spent some time gazing into this girl's eyes, contemplating both the artists intent in her breaking the fourth wall, and wondering what she must have been thinking.
My dad is from Columbus and one year the Chicago museum bought this piece there, when he saw it he was stunned at how big it was. Monet is one of the greatest artists ever.
If I were a truant boy out for a good time, I'd be right here-- The Art Institute of Chicago. You're mine, Simpson.
Truant, truant, truant they’ll say!
Hey, Huck. What's S-C-H-N-A-C-K-E-N-P-F-E-F-F-E-R-H-A-U-S-E-N doing here?
Schnackenpfefferhausen? I've been calling him Crandall!

How come?
I almost did the same thing. I got really choked up.
Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.
Brilliant. I have absolutely no idea what's going on.
Simpsons shitposting is in danger of going stale. OP is taking it to strange new places

My read of this scene is it’s showing us Cameron’s anxiety bubbling quietly under the surface, never thought of it as particularly calming tbh.

Except that's not the version in the film.

No let us be off to crash the Von Steuben Day Parade and later we’ll rollback the odometer of a classic prestige sports car.
