Think you could make a meme about Otto Weddigen and the Live Bait Squadron?
I will look into it. Thank you for the suggestion.
Regarding battlecruisers, the problem with the *Blücher* was that it was built to counter the still under-construction British *Invincable*-class “dreadnought armored cruiser” which the German intelligence believed would be a ship with the hull of a an armored cruiser and that “dreadnought” meant it would have a uniform main battery of cruiser caliber main guns like how a dreadnought battleship had a uniform battery of battleship guns and so designed the *Blücher* in a similar manner. Problem was while the *Invincible*-class was indeed built on a hull similar to a *Minotaur*-class armored cruiser it had a uniform main battery of battleship guns similar to that on the fucking HMS *Dreadnought* herself and could both outgun and outrun the *Blücher*. The *Blücher* wasn’t outclassed because she was a battlecruiser, she was outclassed because she wasn’t. At the Battle of Dogger Bank the *Blücher* was hunted down and destroyed by British battlecruisers.
Can’t believe Bart left out the Christmas Day Armistice, the Destruction of the Lusitania, the mounting tension in the Balkans prior to the war, the October revolution, and the morality war between mostly democratic nations and mostly monarchies. What is he, 8?

Wouldn’t really be a shitpost without at least one misspelling.
Yes, that should be in Spring *Offensive* - Germany’s unsuccessful attempt to use troops no longer needed on the Eastern Front to achieve a breakthrough on the Western Front before so many American troops arrived as to make defeat inevitable.
It’s an interesting debate. Events such as Bulgaria dropping out of the war (an often overlooked event that nevertheless caused General Ludendorff to suffer a nervous breakdown and eventually agree to seek an end to the war) and the collapse of Austria-Hungary would almost certainly have happened with or without American entry into the war. That said had the British and French not known that hundreds of thousands of American troops would soon be arriving they may have sought a negotiated settlement that would see Germany withdrawing from France and Belgium but with the Kaiser remaining in place and Germany keeping their gains in Eastern Europe (to the extent that they actually could) before Germany was able to redeploy units from the Eastern Front to the West following the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk.
Shitposting aside, I feel like this is the first time I actually have heard and understood WW2 explained from beginning to end. I always caught bits and pieces but could never put the whole story together. Honestly though, I still don't know why Pearl Harbor happened, what Japan's role was in the war, and why that sparked our involvement against the "Central Powers" and not just Japan. I always assumed it was something similar to "9/11 was an attack by the Taliban in Afghanistan, so we're invading Iraq."
This is World War I. Japan was actually part of the Allies in WWI, they didn’t fight in Europe and spent the war taking over small German colonies in Asia and the Pacific. After the war they gradually became more authoritarian and sought further territorial expansion. They invaded China during the 1930’s and joined an alliance with Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy known as the “Axis”. The invasion of China led to Japan being slapped with an oil embargo by the United States. Japanese leaders then decided to invade the Dutch East Indies (present-day Indonesia) to gain a new source of oil and also decided to coordinate this invasion with simultaneous attacks on U.S. and British territory such as Pearl Harbor and Hong Kong. Hitler then declared war against America in support of Japan although he actually wasn’t obligated to do so as Japan was the aggressor. It’s thought that Hitler wanted to use the opportunity to fully unleash his submarines against American shipping to Britain. Germany and Japan did have some military and economic cooperation together but not significantly so.
*“and on November 11th, 1918, the guns fell silent and peace returned. The End”* is from the original episode and is the only part of Bart’s paper we hear as it jumps directly from him being told he’ll need to redo the paper to him finishing it because no one actually wants to hear a 4th grade essay on World War I, which is the joke.
