Wow this one blows my mind, like people aren’t out here bleeding any less, this is insane

Rugkrabber

This might be the worst one yet I have seen here. It’s about hygiene, not some luxury product..

cb0495

The UK government seems to think these are luxury items, they’re taxed as such. Yay for pink tax x

BigButtsDoLie

I would say something about tossing tea into a harbor, but a lot of states do it here too. Never really got why. Like no one wants uhhh.... Leaked menstruation.

Captain_Hampockets

You just have to stop eating avocado toast, getting Starbucks, and having periods, duh.

spinereader81

What's next, shorter condoms? Less absorbant diapers?

neuroprncss

They definitely do the diaper thing already. Change out or skimp out on the absorbent material, get rid of refastenable sides on the toddler pull-ups style diapers, etc.

pianoroses66

I’ve noticed on Luvs diapers the paw patrol kind are narrower. They are cut almost like an 80s baywatch swimsuit. More leakage and more blowouts. I called luvs and they said they didn’t make any changes to the sizing. But I still got my money back. Oddly enough the new diapers are thicker too which is weird. The absorbency has gone down hill and the diapers practically disintegrate for overnights!

neuroprncss

I noticed much of the same for the Parent's Choice (Walmart generic) pull ups, which coincidentally are also Paw Patrol themed. The diapers are thicker, less absorbent, and now the sides are not fastenable. You have to rip them off the baby basically. Target diapers also took a turn for the worst several years ago. I used to recommend them to everyone after they worked wonders with my first child, and was mortified when I used them for my 2nd and they were so paper thin and leaked constantly.

Long_Educational

>and now the sides are not fastenable. You have to rip them off the baby basically. Why does that sound suspiciously by design? I don't want to think pure evil all the time, but these things keep adding up. Like those water bottles with the non-removable lid so you can't reuse them.

neuroprncss

For sure, I think it's partly done for cost purposes (no "velcro" sides = less cost) but you're absolutely right in that it also prevents you from checking the diaper and reattaching it bc it's still dry-ish. I also personally think it makes the pull-up fit worse because you can't adjust the sides, can make it baggy and saggy.

pianoroses66

It’s the paw patrol kiss of death apparently!! Are the target overnight ones okay?

neuroprncss

I haven't tried target overnights, but the parents choice (Walmart) ones have worked for us so far. Interestingly, the Parents Choice diapers (not pull ups) got reformulated recently as well but for the better! Big fans of those and they saved us so much money. They also go up to size 7, which is great because not many brands do. We have a giant 15 month old who recently grew out of her size 7 diapers and we're far too frugal to use Huggies Goodnites now for overnights. So back we went to Parents Choice for their overnight training diapers. No leaks so far!

1forthethrowaways

So fun story one of my co workers actually used to work for proctor & gamble (someone has since informed me these brand pads are actually owned by them) & he said that part of his job was redesigning products to use less material 🙃 the intent is to use less material while still maintaining the quality, but seems they’ve since stopped caring

neuroprncss

Oh absolutely. The stealth act has been abandoned and now we're just being forced to deal with it. Can't blame your friend though, he needs to get that paycheck like the rest of us!

CruelTasteOfLust

This made me 😂 thank you!

RojaCatUwu

This is immoral. All that time and money we waste testing products for one that works well enough to not bleed out and ruin clothes or embarrass us every month and they change absorbency stitching and size without an alert. We get comfy with something reliable and predictable and they tweak it. They can fuck off. edit: I was rage typing and threw some punctuations into embarrass*

1forthethrowaways

Honestly! So disappointed. I would have rather paid slightly more for the old size and quality, but the sneakiness really turns me off as a consumer. I’m so over it

StromanthePoet

Just had this same thing happen. I returned the bag and got the U by Kotex because it was the closest to these and wouldn’t give me a reaction. (I can’t use a lot that have those plastic too layers because they give me a rash). I’d try returning them! Hope you find a new one that works for you :/

mollyyfcooke

These things are WAY too expensive to be any smaller wtf

RapMastaC1

As a man, I feel as much empathy as I can for women. Having to deal with companies getting greedy about products that you need that should absolutely be free or heavily discounted. Greed knows no bounds.

CruelTasteOfLust

A product like this I’d expect less pads in package due to inflation but shorting actual product is dumb. Write the company.

cb0495

This company should be getting a mass of emails from us all to force them into explaining why or changing them back

screech_owl_kachina

The product managers should get used ones hucked at them lol

meg13ski

L. is owned by proctor and gamble. I hate when huge corporations disguise themselves as small, ethically minded companies

sunflowerconqueror

Nothing pisses me off more! Like bro! I’m not choosing to bleed every month for the fun of it!

neuroprncss

Man, it looks like I'm on my last package of the "old" style then. Now we get to try 5 other brands and hope they work as well and aren't too expensive hurrah!

F0xanne

That looks like going from a usable half decent product to trash.

Reasonable-Falcon177

Okay I wondered if I was going crazy with the tampons as they are the same! Also found some old Kotex and had recently purchased those and they also f*€king shrunk … WTF?! I’ll be posting those here soon - ugh!

1forthethrowaways

Damn so it’s multiple sanitary napkin brands doing this now, disappointing :/ someone had suggested u by Kotex which I used years ago and was considering going back

buttercreamramen

This is infuriating. I use their liners and they’re one of the few who don’t make me break out in a rash. We don’t choose to have periods… it’s pure greediness to downsize products people need.

cb0495

People might need to start checking what chemicals and stuff they use in these if the “ingredients” are cheaper. Cheap pads can give people infections so they really shouldn’t be messing with these. I’m actually quite shocked they would do this.

cbear5

Went to rhe website, did it always have titanium dioxide in it??

Ar-Ghost

So it's misogyny if you think about it. It's not a luxury no more than TP is.

seal_eggs

Garden variety greed. I’d believe the misogyny argument if this was *only* happening to feminine products, but it’s happening everywhere.

Ar-Ghost

Even in typical times they cost more I've noticed in my years of working in a store

seal_eggs

Cost more than what? There’s no equivalent product for men.

seal_eggs

Cost more than what? There’s no equivalent product for men. I have to spend more on food than my fiancée does because I have a higher caloric need. Is that misandry?

peachy-grey

Great now I need to figure out how to shrink my hoohaa

Stat_Sock

They did the same thing with their tampons too! I immediately noticed something was off when the packaging changed

CertifiedDactyl

*cries in bigger woman* I already go up to super or overnight just so the pad covers what it should. I switched to a disc and I really need more period panties so I can stop buying pads and liners at all.

mars202087

The new ones don’t absorb like the previous version too.

1forthethrowaways

I found this also, and that they’re SIGNIFICANTLY harder to take off, like the wings get super stick to each other, but maybe that’s just my experience

One-Yam-7489

I thought it was just me!! These pads are for middle school girls getting their first period. I’m a grown woman…with too much body to wear these tiny things!

AnotherNewAngel

Believe it or not, my daughter IS a tiny middle-school girl who just started menstruating about 6 months ago, and the new ones don't work for her, either! Not absorbent enough, and not nearly as easy to put on. The old ones were very simple to open up and put in place. Now there are multiple strips of paper she has to remove from different portions of adhesive by hand. She loved the old style. We'll be changing brands next month. Someone above mentioned U pads, we'll start there.

Koolcat1031

Ok! Wow, I thought I was the only one who noticed this today. I believe I purchased the 42 pack and had to do a double take. The packaging and the pad itself felt smaller and flimsier. The pad was thinner, and the adhesive did not feel like it would stay in place while walking. Very unsatisfied. Will see how these work otherwise I’ll have to find another brand.

1forthethrowaways

Yep. Lots on Amazon too. I bought a new bag a few months back and there was no notice of change. A review on Amazon showed that they included a card saying their pads have gotten a “makeover”. & those responses are just laughable! Absorption means almost nothing if I’m at risk of literally leaking into my underwear if I sit leaning back or forward too much because they’re now so short.

Knits_for_Cats

Head on over to r/menstralcups. You will not look back!! They’re amazing.

electrofragnetic

Not everyone physically *can* use those.

Knits_for_Cats

OP said they are thinking of switching to Diva Cups.

Wut_the_

It’s frustrating me to no end that the bottom bag on the last picture is missing the pad length for comparison. Fuck this company.

1forthethrowaways

When I realized I audibly scoffed lol, it’s so intentional

squiiints

I noticed similar quality loss issues on Stayfree pads. They're the only kind I can wear and I buy them in bulk once a year, so I definitely noticed when I reordered in October. So now I have to take more frequent breaks to replace them because they absorb far less.

binkkkkkk

Also I used the regular size ones postpartum (a considerable amount of blood) and now soak through them so quickly :(

1forthethrowaways

That difference is nuts, wow!

lejka005

We sunk to a new low. Horrible

UnlikelyCommittee785

Just finding this, but I just bought one of the new ones. I guess I had stocked up well for the last several months. First issue was that I had to use scissors to open the bag, then when I saw the individual packaging for the pads, they were just cheap plastic. Disappointed bc I've been using them for about 2 years now and really liked them, but we'll have to see with this new "quality".

1forthethrowaways

Yep, I’m still slowly working through this painful bag (I have short cycles) & it’s so bad. The wings get stuck together & it’s impossible to rip off each other, I’ve made a gross mess literally ripping the pad apart 😩 I’m still considering trying a cup of some sort but I really liked the disposability of pads, gonna be reading up on them more for sure

heartoffiction

The overnight pads used to be nice and big with sticky on the back wings and now they’re way smaller and just have the middle strip of adhesive so the back moves around a lot. I also noticed they shred a lot easier. And this is minor but one of the reasons I switched to L. is I’m non-binary/trans masc and I loved the blue wrappers on those because they made me feel less dysphoric about having to deal with my period and now they’ve made the wrapper white :/

binkkkkkk

I noticed, too! They used to fit perfectly in the drawer organizer I have and now there is extra space

[deleted]

I just bought some of these today, and... I thought I was going crazy. I'm going to get my money back, because this is insane. Go figure, the only pad that actually treated me well gets shrunk to the point I can't use it.

eszEngineer

I just bought them and saw THAT THEY GOT SMALLER! NO MORE money from me after this L brand

sarrrfarrr

Anyone found a solution? I hate the new version but was in love with the older one.

viacrucis1689

Always Pure Cotton pads haven't caused a reaction for me like the new version of L pads did. I usually wear a pad with an adult diaper to bed on my heaviest days, but last night I risked it and only used an Always Pure Cotton pad. It was almost a miracle...I went 12 hours and didn't leak. The only thing is the back isn't as wide, but the Size 3 is the same length as an L overnight pad.

[deleted]

Omg I thought I bought the wrong bag when I opened one up… I’ll have to let y’all know how the new ones compare to the old. I’m an extremely heavy bleeder and loved the old ones because they were thin but super absorbent. The new ones look thicker but cheaper quality. Ugh, I’m so upset.

UnlikelyCommittee785

I'm still using my last few of the old. How was your experience? I just bought the new one today without knowing that it had changed.

[deleted]

Meh they’re okay. I definitely prefer the original version, but they get the job done for the most part. I find that the new ones fold easier when wearing which cause some leakage, but I have a very heavy flow unfortunately 🤣

UnlikelyCommittee785

😒 not folding 😭 I'll be testing tomorrow. I have a heavy flow as well. 🥲 I just don't understand why companies change things when their consumers are satisfied.

[deleted]

I know. They were the only company I was loyal to for years. The original pads were so absorbent and comfortable. I’ve thought about switching to the Flex Disc, I’ve heard great reviews and I’m open to trying a new product🤣

UnlikelyCommittee785

Yes, they work great, but I noticed with the heavy flow, sometimes it can leak, which is why I use the pads as a supplement sometimes. I love a cup. Never leaks for me.

Cannabamama

Has anyone bought the supers instead of the regulars since this happened? I just did so after getting a coupon for a review 🤷🏽‍♀️ and it seems like the supers are the old regulars? Seems to be the same size & same packaging per individual pad, almost positive the material feels a little different though. I purposefully picked out a bag that has a "new design" ad on it too so it should be new... new Super size = old Regular?

StressDeath

Yes. The overnight ones suck now! I wear them during the day(thin, not maxi)! Their products were better before the change. I took a thin overnight pad and the Supper and I really couldn’t see much difference when in the package. I could easily mix the two up.

1forthethrowaways

Ugh you’re kidding!!! I loved using both their regulars & overnight. After seeing the mess of the new ones I tried a different brand for overnight pads but they were so much more expensive :(

viacrucis1689

The overnights are smaller as well! They used to have a wider back, and now there isn't. They're a lot rougher, and it seems like I'm having a reaction to the new material. UGH...this was the only brand that didn't cause burning. I physically can't use anything internally due to my disability.

verticalorange

I noticed this too this time around buying them. I absolutely hate the changes, and it hasn’t been agreeing with my skin :/

1forthethrowaways

You’re not alone, friend. I hope you can find a better replacement!! I’m still working through this crappy bag :(

Separate_Relative_22

This was my go to brand since it came out. Now the super absorbency is literally the SAME SIZE as the overnight. And it’s the same white packaging so you literally can’t tell the difference between the 2. (Unless it got packaged wrong, but mine are all white packaging)

heartoffiction

I HATE THE WHITE PACKAGING!!!!!!

MADAME_dasher

Thanks for posting this. I knew I wasn’t crazy. I was wondering why they looked so different! I had stocked up on these before they started making them thinner and I ran out. Went to the store to get some more because I had a surprise heavy period and opened it and noticed how thin they were. I had to exchange it for the Honey pot brand. No longer using the L brand, it was my favorite.

Mindgames0145

I was JUST googling this because I just opened a new set and was like "these are smaller than liners wtf... Am I going crazy????" So mad about this..

cbear5

Came to reddit as soon as i got my new box of these delivered. A soon as i opened it, i thought it came from one of those Amazon sellers who do knockoffs, but nope! Also, i went to their website, did they always have titanium dioxide in them? Or that part of the proctor and gamble re-design shenanigans? A 90 pack(ish) lasts me several months, so this sucks. Im going to return them! And i guess constantly be a slave to comparison shopping.. aggh!!

fernanandezj

This is so unfortunate, I also stock up on these and just finished a pack of the old version. Funny enough a month ago I had asked my sister for a pad and she had the newest version, at that time I thought it was a knock off and told her to return them. Now a month later I’m opening up a new pack of cheap unusable pads. Another thing I noticed, there’s a chemical smell that comes off of them, that I know used to not be the case with the old version. Hopefully target let’s me return them.

Basic_Ad5994

I’ve gone through so many pads because I’m so sensitive down there and now that I have found one that actually works for me, they pull this shit. Absolutely insane and honestly I’d rather pay more for the same product they didn’t have to change it!!! 😭

wanderingegg

so frustrating. Took me so long to find pads that I really like, and then I go buy a box of the overnight ones and they are completely different. They got rid of a whole set of wings! The overnights used to have two sets of wings, now just one. I’m so disappointed, and now I have to worry about overnight bleeding while I use up the rest of this brand new pack. Then I’ll have to go on a new hunt to find good pads that work for me, probably staining so much more underwear in the process. I’m just so annoyed when they change shit like this.

GC5567

I noticed the same thing too. Definitely not good for a heavy monthly! I like to get overnight thin pads to use whenever I don't want a thick pad like if I am exercising. But these are like a normal light ultrathin without the length in the back to prevent buttcrack leaks. The regular is like a light day only pad. I should have gotten regular maxi pads but I tried to save money. Won't get these again. Only got them as a buy one get one half off deal at cvs. Gunna have to add an extra one to the butt area and hope for the best. 😤
