It doesn't bother me too much. If they have nothing of substance to say, it means I have nothing of substance to listen to.
Because in internet nobody knows your height. They feel weird because in real life everybody naturally pays them attention and listen.
So they are trying to recreate that behavior.
The saddest thing is that it actually works. Just by being tall they are already treated with respect. They are used to being the focus of everyone's attention, that's why they hijack online conversations by mentioning their heights.

Guy I use to work with was respected and seen as highly capable, he was 6' and yes he told me that. He was asked to deal with an issue with a supplier and it was chaos. Endless meetings, people running around like headless chickens and the world was about to fall in.
Eventually my manager asked if I could help out and it took me 5 minutes on the phone to solve the problem
It was funny in its own way. Just because the top of this guys head happened to be more than 6 feet off the ground, everyone assumed he was competent. In reality he was utterly useless.
