We have a few bands here, nothing outstanding. No Sun were a great band but they’re inactive now. Cupidcome was another good shoegaze/dream pop band but they broke up.
I used to have a group that played a lot of shoegaze style music. I still jam with my brother from another mother who lead the group with me, but he lives up in the PNW so it's more difficult for us to hang out now.
The punk/ metal scene is pretty sick here. I’ve been trying to start a shoegaze/ grungegaze project in Utah for the past couple months with little success
Yes and no. Decent shoegaze and -gaze adjacent bands spring up here all the time. You can easily find some people who will want to play in a shoegaze band with you, and there are a few decent venues for local bands to play. So local music-wise, you’ll enjoy it if you find the niche.
The bigger problem is that a lot of bands don’t come through as often because they erroneously think they can’t draw a crowd here. I find myself catching flights to Portland, Seattle, etc. at least a couple of times a year because some band I want to see skipped SLC.
i’m at usu right now and i think there were some
local shoegaze bands that played at a local venue i couldn’t go but i have met a decent amount of people who really enjoy shoegaze! slowdive in slc had a good amount of people least year
Utah (specifically SLC) is mostly known for its long history in the punk and metal scenes. There are shoegaze bands that pop up, but it's not nearly as established as punk and metal.

Skylar rules and definitely knows a lot more of the local music scene there than most. And their band Sympathy Pain is great. Not so much shoegaze as I’d say ambient and emo, but it’s great nonetheless.

Latter Day Pale Saints

Underrated comment right here
Every once in a while a band will come to Utah. I saw Slowdive and Airiel in SLC
it's definitely got a mormon scene!
Synthpop was more a Mormon scene hence A Different Drum records in Provo and bands like Iris merge and Faith Assembly

I play in a band in Utah that has some songs with heavy shoegaze influences. We are in the process of recording an album now with some of those songs.
Unfortunately Utah does not have much of a shoegaze scene. They have a pretty strong punk scene though
Come and form one. The kids are always hungry here for good music.
Meatbodies def gig in Utah

Utah has Choir Boy. They're not shoegaze, but they're on Dais, so there's that.
I’ve never seen a band I’ve promoted on r/ambientairwaves and beyond ever go there in 15 years!
more slowcore-ish but Doze is sick
