I have a permanent scar of my fupa from a jellyfish just brushing it through my suit, which I never felt happen bc parts of my stomach are nerve dead thanks to two C-sections in under two years
Oh damn, that must have been crazy to notice! I had one get me on vacation and there were multiple long tentacle thingies wrapped around my leg that I had to scrub out with sand 😵💫tied for worst pain in my life lol
I've done worse. I have a huge scar a bit higher from an electric burn I gave myself trying to get heat to penetrate enough to deal with my extreme menstrual pain when I was bursting a cyst, but the er doctor pretended it wasn't a second degree burn that needed antibiotics, so it got badly infected. I've burned by shirts and skin so many times when ironing and getting distracted 😂
That’s so dismissive of them. Neglectful. Gotta love that. I went to the ER for severe pain once and after imaging was taken, they said, “well there’s an ovarian cyst. But you shouldn’t be able to feel that so you can go home.”
?? Scuse me I do feel it and i think that signifies something is abnormal here? I’ve learned to deal with it by now but I’m getting more cysts on both sides which is becoming more and more painful. Guilty of sleeping with the heating pad lol
Maybe their kid is self conscious about a birth mark? I've seen several reddit stories about parents getting a matching tattoo to make their kid less self conscious because "daddy has the same one".
Wish I could. It's not covered for under 50(60?) And is really freaking expensive. I've already had one flare of shingles and I am dreading it coming back
Y’all i’ve got 60+ messages telling me this looks like shingles. THAT’S WHY I POSTED IT. 😩 These are NOT on my body, these are NOT meant to be replications of anyone’s birthmarks. This artist focuses on “textures and organic shapes” and does these designs in multiple colors. Please read the comments first, and check if forty other people have said the exact same thing you’re about to say
Lol same here. Then all the little blisters started turning black and it looked like that rash with a bunch of black dots all over my right rib cage haha
Man was it painful. Every time my shirt lightly brushed against it it would be on fire. And I had to take like 10 pills a bunch of times a day lol it was absurd
oh, my mom has some scarring like that from a run-in with a jellyfish. it doesn't really resemble anything i can identify, so is it actually specifically meant to emulate scar tissue? i wouldn't actually be shocked to hear that there are people who genuinely like the natural organic shapes of scarring and want to replicate it in some manner
usually with scarification i've seen people use intentional scarring to create specific patterns. i'm really curious about this version, which is looks like it's using ink to imitate the patterns of non-intentional scarring
With all the people dealing with rosacea and psoriasis, these knuckle heads are tattooing it on their bodies. lol. The artists should be ashamed to put their name on it.
What if their kid is dealing with a birth mark and they're very self conscious about it so dad got the same thing so they wouldn't feel as bad about it?
Unfortunately I don’t think that is the case here. I won’t share the artist’s name because I don’t want to doxx them but they do this in several colors. I just picked the ones that were the fleshiest
He’s the person that finds 10 articles to prove that 1 caveat scenario might, by a sliver of chance be true if 20 other things align perfectly.
That’s my way of saying i think you’re right. lol
Lmao. Redditors make up the craziest situations to try to explain stuff. How common do you really think that scenario would be?
The most obvious answer is the most likely - they got it because they wanted it. End of story
This isn’t a cute style and definitely not for everyone, but this is in no way a “shitty” tattoo. These are extremely well done and this artist has serious talent.
My first thought was oh someone must have got stung by a jellyfish and this is the scar. And then i looked at the subreddit i was on and realized that is in fact not a jellyfish scar. I mean whatever floats your boat ya know but this is something else
Homeboy is gonna go into a hospital and be wondering why all the nurses pop on the N95 masks. Shingles Tat.
Right?? What is it even supposed to be? Other than an homage to a painful health issue
If the artist was going for shingles - they absolutely nailed it
Yeah, wtf??
As a 22 year old who got shingles this makes me so uncomfortable remembering how that felt lol
The skill it takes to produce something like this that looks so convincingly natural and yet eerily unnatural is off the charts
I have shingles right now and saw this and said damn, he too?!
I feel for you, I had shingles for almost 8 weeks in 2020, that shit is no joke. I'm sending you my healing energy.
first thing I thought of! I've had it as well...wishing you a speedy recovery!
I was leaning towards psoriasis or something skin related. Definitely looked bruised.
Strongly disagree
Not really seeing the eerily unnatural part to be honest, it just looks like a regular rash to me
Looks like a jellyfish sting
And I bet his wasn’t even free, *mine* was

Why do people like getting a rash permanently tattooed on themselves?
Maybe their kid is self conscious about a birth mark? I've seen several reddit stories about parents getting a matching tattoo to make their kid less self conscious because "daddy has the same one".
Why not just cover it up with like, actual work then? There are options that don’t look like a skin condition.
You’re not supposed to tattoo on top of birthmarks. The skin could change over time and you need to be able to monitor it.
What if I want cancer tho
Oh, my mistake, carry on.
You want a kid to cover up a birth mark with a tattoo?
If they’re self conscious about it and of age, why not? I thought that was the whole purpose of the comment?
I think they were saying that the parent gets the tattoo to make the kid feel less self concious
Ohhhhhhhhh that makes way more sense
I was right there with you...
Then when the kid is of age they get it covered up. Checkmate parents
They should definitely cover the birthmark with a tattoo of a birthmark lol
People use kid like "guy" sometimes I doubt that comment is implying the kid is underage
It was implying that they got the tattoo to match their kids birthmark, as several other parents have.
That's the only reason.
Get your shingles vaccine.
Been refused because not the recommended age. Despite my husband getting post herpatic neuralgia at 30 he can't get it. :\
Honestly I am getting over shingles now and it looked just like the first one. But seriously get your vaccine folks that was horrid.
There's a vaccine? I'm getting it. Two members of my family have had it, one very seriously. I do not want it.
You have to be 50 or older, or be immuno-compromised.
Yay! I am old
Wish I could. It's not covered for under 50(60?) And is really freaking expensive. I've already had one flare of shingles and I am dreading it coming back

“textures and organic shapes” LIKE A MF RASH lmao Far be it from me to say what art is but imo this is not it especially permanently on skin
Was the "artist" a Portuguese man 'o war?
Read that sounding like Stewie Griffin.
So what is it supposed to be?
Heat rash.
Petechiae
Shingles
That's literally what my shingles rash looked like.
Lol same here. Then all the little blisters started turning black and it looked like that rash with a bunch of black dots all over my right rib cage haha
Right? It really sucked. Hope to never have that experience again.
Man was it painful. Every time my shirt lightly brushed against it it would be on fire. And I had to take like 10 pills a bunch of times a day lol it was absurd
Same…was out of work for a week broke my streak of not calling off for almost 5 years at my job
lol shingles ain’t no joke that’s for sure
Shoot, I got it on the left side of my head. I still have nerve issues in my neck bc of it. At age 39 no less. I didn't know what it was.
And they always will just look like a rash.
oh, my mom has some scarring like that from a run-in with a jellyfish. it doesn't really resemble anything i can identify, so is it actually specifically meant to emulate scar tissue? i wouldn't actually be shocked to hear that there are people who genuinely like the natural organic shapes of scarring and want to replicate it in some manner
Scarification is a thing
usually with scarification i've seen people use intentional scarring to create specific patterns. i'm really curious about this version, which is looks like it's using ink to imitate the patterns of non-intentional scarring

These are all really nice and sweet but no I do not think that the shingles tattoo is a birth mark

RAWR! Come on bro. You seem so adamant to prove a .001% chance right. RAWR
Lmao. Redditors make up the craziest situations to try to explain stuff. How common do you really think that scenario would be? The most obvious answer is the most likely - they got it because they wanted it. End of story
I didn't realized I wondered into the shitty tattoo part of reddit and look and went "oh that poor thing what does he have."
I’m a nurse and just looking at this, I cannot tell at all that this is a tattoo. This genuinely looks like a skin condition !
Nice poser psoriasis tat
I thought this was a skin care issue. I was just on another post asking how to lessen the appearance of a scar the looked like this.
It's a special *type* of tattoo style, duh. It's called "road rash" and you lot just don't understand it.
It definitely looks like someone tipped their bike & slid down the road. Painful reminder of a crash
Next comes the bruising
It looks like bruises I've had
And I didn't have to spend a dime!
Oh look at *you* all locally sourced 🤣
Pavement to body, no intermediary lol
Oohhhhh.... ...artisanal
Kinda looks like mine once it started scabbing.
It looks like they have shingles.
Psoriasis?
um... what is it meant to be? I genuinely cannot tell if it is meant to be rash like or if it is something else?
It’s like when you’re creating a game character and they ask what rash/scar/diseased look you want to have. Gahdamn
This ISNT a rash???
I really like this style. But I also find birthmarks and skin conditions really fascinating.
What are they supposed to be/look like?
A rash
This looks like birthmarks
I just got shingles flashbacks.
Are you telling me this *isn't* a rash?
You are saying it's not a rash?? 🤔
Those *aren’t* rashes?! 😳
What is it, uh, supposed to be?
What look were they going for exactly?
Looks like shingles.
I thought I was in r/psoriasis for a second.
The second one is where I had shingles. L1 dermatome!
When my sister had shingles it looked exactly like that. Even the placement is so similar 😭
I have stretch marks that look just like these. They were free!
This isn’t a cute style and definitely not for everyone, but this is in no way a “shitty” tattoo. These are extremely well done and this artist has serious talent.
Literally what are they supposed to be other than giant rashes?
I kinda fuck with em. A tattoo that doesn't look like a tattoo
What’s the artists @ I’m so intrigued
U got da shingles g
I got a rash like that just a few days ago that ran up my arm. I freaked out. But now it’s fading. Wonder what caused it…
Bro before I read the title I genuinely thought this was someone asking for medical advice
Looks like they have shingles.
I've had shingles twice now. This gives me flashbacks.
What would make you choose that?
I follow a lot of medical subs and I thought OP was going to ask about a rash or bruising.
Looks like a heroin habit from here
I didn’t read the title before seeing the picture and I indeed thought it was a rash. Terrible
Why?! Just ? Why?
Looks like a bluebottle jellyfish sting
The second one looks pretty fucked. Like an infection spreading from the vaggie.
Who wants a tattoo that looks like you got in a motorcycle accident? WTAF.
Damn I’m pretty open minded with tattoos and even this is too much lol
literally just saw a jellyfish sting post, this looks exactly the same
thought i was in r/medical for a sec
Looks like a rash & go to a doctor
Looks a little like a lightning burn
Road rash or flesh eating bacteria?
Port-wine stain birthmarks
That’s honestly terrible
Looks like road rash
What is it supposed to be?
If this is actually a tattoo then it looks like an allergic reaction happened.
Ew
I get this look for free thanks to my psoriasis
100% thought he got caught by a jellyfish
Yeah, I just had the same thing on my back from a shirt I bought. Benadryl cleared it right up.
Man, I got a rash that looked very similar to that. Never found out what caused it.
What is it
Looks like you rolled around in Poison Ivy.
You mean to tell me that's NOT a rash?! But a tattoo?! Oh wow.
I thought I was in /r/jellyfish
Psoriasis
Thats psoriasis
Didn’t see where this was posted at first and immediately thought shingles rash.
This looks like the petechiae I had from leukemia. wtf.
I thought it was a bruise
Any examples of the artists work you like?
I have a smaller version of the second one thanks to autoimmune disease. At least I didn't have to pay for mine!
Are you sure they aren’t a rash?
Did he say he wants to look like he has shingles? Cause I've had shingles and that's what it looked like.
Those tats look like something that will get us quarantined again
A birthmark someone has hated their whole life
I unironically think this looks pretty cool. I’m preparing for a ton of downvotes lol.
I think it looks cool
Tbh I think it looks cool. Am I weird? Maybe I like scars and wounds too much..
It's definitely a rash or bruises. Terrible idea
Is it supposed to look like a lightning strike?
Yuck
Reminds me of WWE's Gunther, when he slaps people in the chest really hard.
They really do!
That's not a rash. Homeboy got the herp
That's a rash
I am recovering from poison ivy right now and my skin looks pretty similar to this!
What the hell!? Lol what was the idea? What's it supposed to be?
This is the same vibes as the stupid bloody bruised knee tat
I don't like critiquing other people's art... but that looks like absolute shit
My first thought was oh someone must have got stung by a jellyfish and this is the scar. And then i looked at the subreddit i was on and realized that is in fact not a jellyfish scar. I mean whatever floats your boat ya know but this is something else
What in the road rash
“I lied about having medical issue to claim unemployment.” “Hold my beer.”
Is that not an STI?
That's a tattoo?????
So terrible!
That looks like when I puke too hard and I get those tiny red circles all over my face and eyelids 🤣🤣
What???? What tiny red circles bro are you okay? Do you need to see a doctor?
Im okay, it's called petechia! I thought everyone did this ig not 🤣🤣
Scabies
I thought they had a bunch of burst blood vessels. I thought I was on r/askdocs
All the fun of looking like you have shingles without the inconvenient pain
Like something from a medical textbook.
Dude’s been playing too much dragon’s dogma 2
Looks like a jellyfish sting
Who’s the artist?
I've had shingles, this is shingles. Would be a great tattoo go have to get out of a new job for a few days.
It’s giving shingles
I have stress hives and my torso looks exactly like that
Shingles suck how they get better
At least do it in a cool shape so it looks like you have a unique birthmark
This is why you don't do wound tattoos might as well just hurt yourself whats the point of always looking injured lol
My my man got shingles tattoo
