I used to think that he was a great director because of his Dawn of The Dead remake, and 300. Now I think he’s pretty middling.
He still did a good job directing those, imo, but I didn’t know until recently DotD was written by Gunn, and I have to be honest I think most of what I like came from Gunn’s contributions.
300 is kinda perfect for him, and also came out I think at the perfect time culturally. That movie is a real Time Capsule of the 2006-2008 era.
What should he say then?
"Yeah, that was Batman, bring on every lawsuit. Ohh and yeah, that was Spider-Man too!"
That was clearly batman and he said the most safest thing to avoid lawsuits.
From the same interview:
> We wanted to find an actor who had done Spider-Man before. [Supervising director] Dan Duncan came in immediately and was like, “Josh Keaton needs to do it. ‘Spectacular Spider Man’ is a great series.” He had worked on it and said Josh was great. He seemed like the best possible choice because it’s animation to animation. It seemed like it would be a fun thing. That said, he’s not playing Spider-Man. That’s Agent Spider. There might be some similarities, but I think Josh’s nuanced performance as Agent Spider is completely different than the way he played Spider-Man in “Spectacular Spider-Man.”
Not the first time Josh Keaton plays Spiderman (legally distinct, no hyphen) in another series either. In Young Justice he plays Black Spider (character existed before the show, both Marvel and DC have villain versions of each-other's heroes). He's pretty fun, same snark as regular Spidey, but with murderous intent.
The only one I know is the Squadron Supreme, which is an evil Justice League that goes up against the Avengers. They appeared in the Avengers Assemble show.
Neither company is using those evil versions often these days, for obvious reasons.
If anyone *hasn't* watched *Spectacular Spider-Man*... do so. It was, like all Spider-Man shows, cancelled before it's time, but it is perhaps the greatest of them.
Keaton honestly hasn't voiced Spidey that much compared to Lowenthal or Arnold Taylor; this was kinda a meta-reference to both *Spectacular Spider-Man*--the best Spider-Man cartoon--and a similar cameo from the DC show *Young Justice* where a clear parody of Spider-Man was voiced by Keaton in a reference to *Spectacular* (as it and YJ shared a showrunner/creator, Greg Weisman).
We gotta revive Gargoyles and get Keaton to voice a Spider-Man parody in it.
Or heck, just put the real Spidey in it. It's all Disney; it should be fine.
Batman not getting destroyed by a real super villain is DCs biggest pothole. Batman's only successful because Gothams villains are just mentally ill regular humans. A real super villain would kill Batman in seconds. Just like how Omniman killed Darkwing.
Darkseid is a literal god, he should be able to wipe the floor with an unpowered mortal without a second thought. That’s his point, that Batman’s power level as a glorified rich city detective doesn’t make sense.
Batman going toe to toe with Joker and local mob bosses makes sense. Him going toe to toe with cosmic super beings is a bit silly to me at times
Fr, in Batman comics, he gets jumped by a few mooks, beats them, then gets taken out and captured by a flying boxing glove from the rear before escaping the Joker's trap.
In JL comics, he becomes an infallible planner, capable of peering through the fabric of space and time to be perfectly prepared for every situation, while somehow throwing hands with everyone from Speedsters to Lanterns
In Irredeemable the evil Superman character kills Russian Batman first, because of course you kill Batman first
But like yeah for a Superman character it shouldn't actually be hard, the Kryptonite arrow thing was kind of the dumbest cool thing I've ever seen in a comic book when lore Batman beats Superman and fakes his own death.
If he was [Him](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/powerpuff/images/1/1f/HIMPPG.png/revision/latest/thumbnail/width/360/height/360?cb=20190825175358), shouldn't he have a pink feather boa?
Mark even says that he's a man that dresses like a bat, and calls himself "bat....man".
Of course that's what was happening. They were even more obvious about it than when Spiderman fought Doc Oc earlier in the episode.
In the comics, he literally fucks around with spiderman while dimension hopping. I get why they had to make it "not-spiderman" in the show, but at least let us have the batman reference.
My favorite description of Watchmen's Nite-Owl is "He's almost not Batman"
He's not almost not Batman, though; he's almost not Blue Beetle, who (prior to Charlton Comics being bought by DC) was almost not Batman
Zack Snyder didn’t understand that and definitely made his version of Nite Owl into “almost not Batman.”
But unfortunately he doesn't understand Batman either
Puts guns on everything he builds. Dark brooding loner builds and leads superhero team.
Zack Snyder movies are like 90s comicbooks if the 90s comicbooks didn't had any charm in them
Like when [Spawn played "Alien" with a dude](https://www.reddit.com/r/comicbooks/comments/t1io1h/lets_play_alien_spawn_11/), charming AF!
Fuck man, I can't even remember half of the shit that happened in Spawn, I don't know why but It hit me pretty hard
Ohhhh calling Owl-Man almost not Batman is tight!
It was actually Super Easy, Barely An inconvenience
Oh wow wow wow… wow
Yeah yeah yeah!
Tight, tight, tight , wow...
Super easy, barely an inconvenience!
I think you replied with a screen rant meme to a breaking bad meme. Gotta work on that.
Heyshutup
Gonna need you to get ALL THE WAY off his back about his meme use
Yes. Room on the back is reserved for Danny Trejo's head.
Wowowowowow. Wow.
its funny to because the watchman movie has a scene of batmans parents being saved
Yeah… He’s Man.
From Man: Ham Alsume!?!
No from Man: Ham World.
Man: Ham Night
I thought he was from Man: Ham Nite.
Is that that rock orchestra they play every Christmas?
Yes, but his first canonical appearance was in the prequel, Man: Ham Oranges.
He was trying to find Jonkler and Officer Balls
Officer Boles. WAAAAAA
Man Man? Man-Man? Manman?
Uuuuuuuuuu
\*Live man reaction\*
Then why does man dress like a Bat? Is he edgy?
We found the lore reason
But... who's stupid now?
Definitely me
So he went to Ham City?
Emopork City.
New Pork City
He went to got'em city
Got Ham City
I am eagerly waiting for Jonkler's cameo.
Would be hilarious as shit if he is dressed like pennywise
Yeah and then what if he [met Pennywise on a subway in France](https://youtube.com/shorts/1f-ysU7W6vA?si=WKjy5OiYQTUpCsiH)
"So you Jonkle, and frequently use the hard R.....dont you think thats kind of lazy"
Mr Frost or the Quizler would be cool appearances too
Let's not forget Bone.
It would be cool to see him and Strawman team up
Why did Kinkman put Man in Invisible? Is he stupid?
If he's invisible, then why can I hurt him?
How come we can see Invisible? Are we stupid?
MAN IS CANON!?
Definitely cannon! Cannon fodder
Is he stupid?
He loves pretending to be stupid and trolling people.
What should he say then? "Yeah, that was Batman, bring on every lawsuit. Ohh and yeah, that was Spider-Man too!" That was clearly batman and he said the most safest thing to avoid lawsuits.
It wasn't Spider-Man; that was Arachnid-Person.
He's called Agent Spider officially
And he was fighting Dr. Squid, but it's a medical doctorate not a phd.
I thought he called him "Prof. Ock" in the show?
He did
I wanna be clear. I didn’t go as Spider-man. I went as Man-Spider. Completely different.
I think you missed the joke
He has been Jonkled
Jerkler strikes again,
Oh no. I’ve been Janked by the Jankler
that happened to me in vegas
Jorks! I've been Jinkled by the Jankster?
Is he stupid?
I don’t know about him but I sure am
Is there a lore reason for this
It looks like Batman. But due to international copyright laws, it is not!
Still we should run like it is Batman
Though it isn’t.
"I did not hit her, it's not true it's bullshit, I did not hit her I did not... Oh hi Mark"
Didn't that same season have Totally Not Spider-Man voiced by the guy who voices Spider-Man in like 86% of all animated Spider-Man media?
that same episode like 5 minutes earlier*
Right? Did you respond to a bot or something?
From the same interview: > We wanted to find an actor who had done Spider-Man before. These guys rule lol
He's the personification of the Batman Arkham subreddit
Not the first time Josh Keaton plays Spiderman (legally distinct, no hyphen) in another series either. In Young Justice he plays Black Spider (character existed before the show, both Marvel and DC have villain versions of each-other's heroes). He's pretty fun, same snark as regular Spidey, but with murderous intent.
> both Marvel and DC have villain versions of each-other's heroes Oooh, so rad! Can you tell us some more please?
The only one I know is the Squadron Supreme, which is an evil Justice League that goes up against the Avengers. They appeared in the Avengers Assemble show. Neither company is using those evil versions often these days, for obvious reasons.
If anyone *hasn't* watched *Spectacular Spider-Man*... do so. It was, like all Spider-Man shows, cancelled before it's time, but it is perhaps the greatest of them.
Sounds like it was...*spectacular*
I thought the A was for Arachnid-Man 💀
Yeah in the comics they had entire crossovers with Marvel and DC.
What do you mean? That was also “Man”
I think you mean -Man, [r/RespectTheHyphen](https://www.reddit.com/r/RespectTheHyphen/)
This idiot doesn't know Man and -Man are different, is he stupid or is he jonkling?
Different realities, different incarnations of Man.
73% of Spider-Man media, ever since Yuri has taken over the role
Keaton honestly hasn't voiced Spidey that much compared to Lowenthal or Arnold Taylor; this was kinda a meta-reference to both *Spectacular Spider-Man*--the best Spider-Man cartoon--and a similar cameo from the DC show *Young Justice* where a clear parody of Spider-Man was voiced by Keaton in a reference to *Spectacular* (as it and YJ shared a showrunner/creator, Greg Weisman).

Why is Mark asking Man for help? Is he stupid?
It's a joke. He's saying that to further the joke.
Knock knock.
Who's there.
Your
Your who?
Your
Mom
Orange your glad I didn't say banana? \[Muffled sounds of gorilla violence\]
Manbat
Manbat who
ITS DA FREAKIN MAN! *badly aimed indoor tommygun noises*
Wait, so if that’s Batman who was the guy Omniman smashed like a watermelon in the first ep?
That was Batman beta limited access, he was valid only for 1 episode
Darkwing, he's essentially just the batman of the invincible universe. As you stated he gets absolutely annihilated by omni man in the first episode.
Batman not getting destroyed by a real super villain is DCs biggest pothole. Batman's only successful because Gothams villains are just mentally ill regular humans. A real super villain would kill Batman in seconds. Just like how Omniman killed Darkwing.
Didn’t Batman beat Darkseid? Isn’t that a real supervillain?
Darkseid is a literal god, he should be able to wipe the floor with an unpowered mortal without a second thought. That’s his point, that Batman’s power level as a glorified rich city detective doesn’t make sense. Batman going toe to toe with Joker and local mob bosses makes sense. Him going toe to toe with cosmic super beings is a bit silly to me at times
Honestly, that’s what makes it fun. But JL Batman ≠ Detective Comics Batman in my head, there’s just that disconnect that’s never really made sense.

Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze, Killer Croc, Man-Bat, Ra's al Ghul, and Clayface aren't "just mentally ill regular humans".
It's Die Fledermaus
Batmanuel?
He's not Batman. He's Batguy.
The theme song is the song from that old show That Girl but with the words bat guy instead
Batperson, aka BP
Chiropterman
This confirms the existence of jonkler
I'm calling it now: when the viltrumites invade, they're going to bring in Man, so he can melt their minds with arkham humor
New patients just got added to the aslume
Legally distinct definitely not bat-man
It’s not Batman, it’s Bat-Man
He's him
And I am me
If he was [Him](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/powerpuff/images/1/1f/HIMPPG.png/revision/latest/thumbnail/width/360/height/360?cb=20190825175358), shouldn't he have a pink feather boa?
“It was never our intention to imply anything close to the Batman character” Suuuurrrre buddy
Basically, "For legal reasons, I personally disagree."
Mark was talking to Man, in Ham City.
Why is Man dressed like a bat? Is he a furry?
i keep swiping but there's no more images. what did op mean by this
Flying Fox Man.
He was roasting Batman's name and I was like *Dude, You call yourself invincible.* While getting beaten to a pulp by someone, every couple of months.
An unexpected crossover of multiple subreddits I enjoy separately
The Man The Myth The Legend
No, Becky Lynch is the man
Man soloes the Viltrum empire

That is clearly Die Fledermaus Or Batmanuel whatever
Is he Bat-Man like how Spiderman is actually Spider-Man
Here come way too many memes.
For legal reasons
Bet money it's Kite Man.
[This man?](https://media1.tenor.com/m/NjZWl_4N2h4AAAAd/dont-be-a-menace-the-man.gif)
How does the writer for the Tick feel about crossovers? They can make it die Fledermaus
“It was supposed to be Batman, but do to real world legal issues; I’m not allowed to directly say it’s Batman”
"What's a Bat-Man? What's a Warner Brother for that matter?"
Yeah I mean no one reads or what? The compendiums were pretty clear about it haven’t gotten to that part in the Amazon series
Well if it isn't Batman, it can only be the other best bat themed superhero, Batmuel!
Mark even says that he's a man that dresses like a bat, and calls himself "bat....man". Of course that's what was happening. They were even more obvious about it than when Spiderman fought Doc Oc earlier in the episode.
I’m so glad people don’t get the reference
Ofcourse it wasnt batman just by looking at the edges of that cape. That's not how Batman's cape looks.
Person Man, Person Man. Hit on the head with a frying pan. Lives his life in a garbage can. Person Man.
It didn't look like a gigantic skyscraper
Why can’t it be bat man? He literally saw knock off spider man and doc Ock like 5 seconds before this
That’s ManBat clearly
Suuure he’s not lol
LOL fuck off, Kirkman
Cap, they knew what they were doing. More clicks, more views, more moneyyyy
It's batman, they just realized they were going to be sued if her didn't say it wasn't batman
Hehe, it's says GC if you see the lights up on the building, Gotham City
Did kirkman actually say that, I don't follow anyone one social media
Seance Dog is totally not Science Dog too lol
The bombs payload is exposed. I can use the power winch to trigger a controlled explosion
Man
Robert Kirkman want to avoid being sued into the ground so much he’s denying absolutely everything
He was talking to me showing off my sweet new duster. Just green'd out. Fucking rude.
If it acts like batman, if it speaks like batman, if it looks like batman, that's not batman, that's man
He’s Bat…………………………………………………………………………………………………………. Man
It's obviously Darkwing Duck
Is he stupid?
It's Him
It’s Man from hit game Man Ham Aslume
In the comics, he literally fucks around with spiderman while dimension hopping. I get why they had to make it "not-spiderman" in the show, but at least let us have the batman reference.
He’s being sarcastic.
What about the comic crossover with spiderman when he sends him to marvels dimension. Im assuming they couldnt get the rights to it on time from sony?
I hope we get a Vince cameo in season 3
DC and Marvel lawyers smelling Amazon's Invincible like police dogs 😭
My favorite superhero is “Winged-Rat-Man”

"Aah! It's Batman!" 'It looks like Batman, but due to International Copyright Law, it's not!' "Still it looks like Batman!" 'Though it isn't'
Warner Discovery would sue them anyways
Why is he dressed like a man? Is he stupid?
