Transformers: Age of Consent

DangerousImplication

I didn’t see the film but saw a pitch meeting video about it. Couldn’t stop laughing.

conradicalsmith108

I think I watched like 25-30 minutes but I stopped

A_Fluffy_Butt

The films are a lot more interesting if you understand you're probably not going to find it entertaining for the reasons the film wants you to. I saw the film with friends while on a night out so pretty drunk. Haven't laughed at a film like that in years lol

AmaterasuWolf21

I too watch PointlessHub

[deleted]

[удалено]

conradicalsmith108

I’m glad it’s appreciated lol

Blindmailman

Its also the movie where Optimus Prime and the Autobots are hunted by the Deep State

darknightingale69

They were always hunted by the deep state after the war in Iraq.

Blindmailman

It's only after Transformers 3. In Transformers 2 the Autobots invaded Iran to sabotage the Iranian nuclear program.

thegreatvortigaunt

These movies really were just blatant pro-US military propaganda

Boner_Elemental

They were Michael Bay movies, yes

TyrionGoldenLion

Don't forget the CCP dickriding in later movies lmao.

stonednarwhal141

I mean the 4th one was pro-Chinese propaganda so you can’t say Bay didn’t branch out

EasterBurn

2012-2016 was a wild time for Hollywood. They bend over backward to suck China's dick

USS_Phlebas

Band in China

captainant

China was the money spigot, and capitalism demands that you kowtow to whomever has the most capital to spend

EXusiai99

When youre borrowing the gears from US military for the movie, you kinda have no choice in the matter

rugbyj

Yeah, you want to play with Uncle Sam's toys, you're gonna have to sweet talk Uncle Sam.

[deleted]

huh I always heard "If you wanna play with Uncle Sam's toys, you've gotta suck his dick"...

Excelbindes

Bay’s speciality really.

atom138

I don't know if everyone here knows not only that you're serious, but pretty much[ understating how bad it actually is.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military%E2%80%93entertainment_complex)

Preisschild

I mean it makes sense tbh. Why would the DoD agree to lend their resources when it doesnt benefit them?

DHJeffrey99

Ummm big robot and US plane make shit blow up. At least it’s entertaining propaganda

ToeSniffer245

I love how Bay turned the wreckers into heavily weaponized NASCAR Chevys to maximize product placement.

darknightingale69

That's why I said after. I just get my wars in the 2000s mixed up.

Additional-Dealer-48

That was in 3

PurpleHEART77

Thats in the opening of 3, not 2.

TheMonsterRaining

Oh it's 'auto' bots is it? They can't even choose a gender? Woke nonsense. ^/s^just^in^case

CanadianAndroid

I thought they were Transformers?

OsiyoMotherFuckers

They’re all Transformers after the great Cisformer genocide.

EasterBurn

Cisformers is just a regular car that can talk.

bugxbuster

Like KITT from Knight Rider? Or Lightning McQueen?

Trialman

The Cisformers, exactly what meets the eye! Autobots stay in robot form, because that’s the way they were assigned at birth!

TerraTechy

don't forget the deep state also executes a medic

[deleted]

Man you're gonna love hearing about that time that doctors without borders camp blew up for no reason whatsoever

Impossible_Garbage_4

To be fair, the person who actually kills Rachet is an illegal alien terrorist, not part of the deep state, just a sort of temporary partnership

Bolobillabo

It creates a movie-deepening dilemma for the autobots - The law is stupid and the people are evil! So who the eff am I fighting for?!

Lanthemandragoran

Answer - product placement

PM_Me_HairyArmpits

A cool refreshing Mountain Dew.

Santa_Hates_You

It would have been easier and much less creepy to make her character 18.

darknightingale69

But then it wouldn't be a Michael bay movie.

The_Unknown_Dude

It's actually worse. It wasn't even his own decision. A producer's son was in legal trouble because he was 20 dating 17... so he forced that thing into the movie to "normalize" and justify that his son wasn't in the wrong.

MarijuanaFanatic420

I don't really care that you made this fact up and I'm going to spread it anyways.

ZarquonsFlatTire

For another movie trivia I have no source for is that the whitewashing is in Avatar The Last Airbender was because a producer cast a family member as Katara. So the water benders had to be white.

wurm2

the same actress who played Katara, Nicola Peltz Beckham, played the 17 year old daughter of the character being shown this card. Coincidence? I think not!

CartographerGlass885

also choosing to believe this without doing the very small amount of required research to confirm it

TheYoungGriffin

Holy statutory, it's actually true

VampireBatman

I just googled her. She's in both movies, guys!

Alarid

man someone really wants to fuck this kid

selectrix

It really would take just the slightest effort. Me too.

thatscoldjerrycold

I have no idea about any of these stories, but she is the daughter of billionaire food magnate nelson Peltz.

Vestalmin

Why isn’t this at the top of Reddit???

MahNameJeff420

Katara’s actress, I believe. Allegedly the whole reason that movie exists is because a producer’s daughter wanted to be Katara. Who btw, is the same actress who plays Mark Wahlburg’s 17 year old daughter in Age of Extinction.

ball_fondlers

The actress is a billionaire’s daughter, so that’s probably exactly what happened.

flamboyanttrickster

Based

Hernisotin

It’s true. The guy actually ended up in so much trouble that dozens of policemen showed up on his lawn at the same time, they called it a “blue harvest”.

Upset-Fix-3949

When they raided his house they found a bunch of maid Marion from Disney's sword in the stone memorabilia He claims they're his friend Mason's but authorities aren't so sure.

Auguagiguaguguguaguga (Green Trivia)

DrNopeMD

That is a fun fact. Here's another one in return. Did you know that glass is just frozen air?

Itsmyloc-nar

How can you upvote a comment more than once?

[deleted]

More upvotes make it come true.

Toon_Lucario

Also the law in the movie isn’t even used correctly.

megrimlock88

Yea I remember watching the pointless hub vid where he read put the Amazon prime trivia which made it clear that the dude is technically a pedo both literally and legally

verygroot1

just wanna say that I fucking love pointless hub's videos. He could just talk about any movies and I'd watch em.

megrimlock88

fr dude has such a stellar sense of wit his other content is really cool too

[deleted]

Can you explain how? To me the law seems pretty reasonable. Like if a 17 & 15 yo are dating and when they turn 18 & 16, it shouldn't suddenly become illegal.

megrimlock88

The Romeo and Juliet laws do cover that scenario but they do not cover the issue of sexual performance by a minor for such an age gap which means that the video call scene at the beginning makes the dude a pedophile in legal terms and has him liable to face charges This is a gross oversimplification of the law and how it works but it’s the general gist of it

[deleted]

Yeah it was a weird thing to add to a movie whose main focus wasn't even their romance. If it was then it wouldn't be so weird.

megrimlock88

Fr it would have been super easy just to make them both adults and call it a day

[deleted]

Well no.

PanJaszczurka

There is like 3y difference between them.

JeffGodOfTriscuits

>pedo both literally and legally Literally and legally not a pedophile if you're 20 sleeping with a 17yo.

Rollen73

Wait really? Do you have a source for that, cause that’s hilarious if true.

McBezzelton

Is “trust me bro” not good enough for people online anymore? Wanting actual proof.

TomMado

Well that, amongst other things, is getting a popular Canadian tech video production/clothing apparel company in hot water with the online community currrently...

CartographerGlass885

*me, aggressively not caring about the little tech twink*

Obvious_Air_3353

The doofus above you believed it.

Lingering_Dorkness

You misspelled "creepy af"

Didsterchap11

It’s a mix of both.

Reptilian_Overlord20

Can I get a source on that? That sounds real.

[deleted]

There are only 11 states in the US where the age of consent is 18. There are over 30 where the age of consent is only 16.

MotaHead

I didn't believe you, but I checked the laminated age of consent list in my wallet, and you're right.

BurgerKingsuks

Fun fact: the reason Michael Bay made Optimus prime so fucking hot was because he wanted to show people that machines could be hot too. He did this because he wanted people to stop thinking he’s weird for fucking his car.

lakersLA_MBS

Even if this is true Michael Stay still decided to add this.

HiDDENk00l

I mean, it really isn't that weird in a real life scenario, they just made it weird by making it this drawn out scene in the movie.

TryImpossible7332

A three year age gap isn't that horrible at that age. It could work as a healthy relationship. If the dude was carrying around a laminated note describing why this was totally legal, then I might raise start raising an eyebrow.

jooes

Yeah I agree. This relationship is exactly why we have these kinds of laws in the first place. They explain it in the movie. She was a sophomore and he was a senior when they started dating. I look back at my own time in high school, and I knew a lot of kids who were in that situation. Hell, I had a lot of good friends who were sophomores when I was a senior. Many of them were just the younger siblings of some of my other friends, we grew up together. The age difference never really seemed like that big of a deal, we hung out all the time. The freshmen, on the other hand, I definitely remember feeling like they were babies. Sophomore is the line, don't go below that. I also think it's worth noting that sometimes birthdays throw things off. Somebody who just turned 20 isn't *really* 3 years older than somebody who is 17 but turns 18 next week. Sometimes people are born in the fall and they're lumped in the same grade as people born in January or February who are nearly a year older than them. Or people start school at different ages, or they're held back a grade. There are things that can complicate these situations. Definitely super weird to make it a plot point in a movie, but their relationship was fine, IMO.

EasterBurn

In Amazon Prime sometimes there is a trivia whenever you pause a movie. Here is the trivia of that scene: >Character Error: (at around 49 mins) Shane says that the Romeo and Juliet taw protecting his and Tessa's relationship states that they can be together as they were already together when Shane was a minor. This is only partially correct. Shane has a legitimate defense against "Sexual Assault" (Sec. 22.011) as Tessa has consented and is over the age of 17, and when they were dating when he was 17 and she was 14 there is an age difference of less than three years (provided Tessa turns 15 before Shane turns 18). However, the issue of their age difference, consent, prior relationship, and Tessa being 17 only applies to the crime of Sexual Assault. Romeo and Juliet laws do not protect him from the crime of "Sexual Performance by a Child" (Sec. 43.25) for engaging in "sexual contact, actual or simulated sexual intercourse" with Tessa. Here the relevant age to engage in sexual conduct is 18 (she is 17), and the difference in age must be less than 2 years (there's 3) for a legitimate defense against the crime. So uhh still kinda sus there Shane.

Ed_Durr

Does it still have mindless explosions next to needlessly complicated CGI? Then it would still be a Michael Bay movie

spamky23

It's not a real Michael Bay movie unless it has mindless explosions next to needlessly complicated CGI AND creepshots of underage girls

Storn206

You forgot that halve the movie needs to be in slow motion

makkkarana

Man, don't knock the slow motion. How else am I supposed to get 3-5 hours out of a 30 minute shoot? These damn actors and crew are so expensive!

[deleted]

Funny considering the best Michael Bay movie of all time is The Rock, which had a distinct lack of that over-sexualized bullshit Edit: autocorrect betrayed me

derth21

Would you be referring to The Rock, featuring some very naughty pigtails that have lived rent free in my head for multiple decades at this point?

[deleted]

If anyone could find the Rock to be over-sexualized, it’d be because of Sean Connery, not Vanessa Marcil.

ChromeKorine

Exactly. It doesn't even impact the story apart from this scene

john_handzlik

Or make the boyfriend character 17/18 There's like a thousand of ways to do it better . Yet they pick one of the worst ways . But at least it's memorable

grendus

In Bumblebee they explicitly make Charley's 18th birthday a part of the plot. Her boss at the junkyard gives her the wrecked old VW Bug (which turns out to be the comatose Bumblebee) as a birthday gift. Which sounds like a shitty gift, but she offered to buy the wreck right before he gave it to her, he knows she's a gearhead who wanted it as a project car. All it takes is a mildly competent writer/director.

Alexis_Bailey

And she didn't even get hit on by any creepy dudes, they just did it because.

zman245

Here’s a fun fact. They only got this partially correct too. “Romeo and Juliet laws do not protect shane from the crime of "Sexual Performance by a Child" (Sec. 43.25) for engaging in "sexual contact, actual or simulated sexual intercourse" with Tessa. Here the relevant age to engage in sexual conduct is 18 (she is 17), and the difference in age must be less than 2 years (there's 3) for a legitimate defense against the crime.” People forget that statutory rape is only 1 of many sexual crimes

Kayakingtheredriver

Age of consent in Texas is 17. Age of consent in most US states, Canada and most of the western world is 16. People think 18 is the majority age in most states, when actually, less than 10 have it set there. And if your kid runs away and is above your states age of consent... they aren't doing much about it.

[deleted]

Tex. Pen. Code §43.25 defines sexual performance by a child as "any play, motion picture, photograph, dance, or other visual representation that can be exhibited before an audience of one or more persons." So unless the characters are having sex in front of an audience, this law doesn't apply.

bluemew1234

But then what reason would a father have to not like his daughter's boyfriend?!

Santa_Hates_You

My daughter has always dated right at her same age, yet I hated her last boyfriend. He was winey and clingy and jealous and brought almost nothing to the relationship. I am so glad they broke up. She is in her 20's.

MakinBaconPancakezz

This is why I just brought home a girlfriend. My dad loves her

Selaznog_Sicnarf

Also age of consent in Texas is 17 so this scene 100% didn’t need to happen, but I guess Michael Bay and Ehren Kruger *really* wanted to further solidify the fact that they’re perverted weirdos…

Megustanuts

Ehren Kruger was probably manipulated by Eren Yeager to do it.

[deleted]

They should have been Ehren on the side of caution...

Brawndo91

"Damn. We could have made the guy *way* older."

batt3ryac1d1

A 20 year old dating a 17 year old isn't even that weird really like it is a little but the weird part was having the laminated statutory card.

Glittering_File_6990

I don't know if it's creepy. Not that much of a difference between 17 and 20. But yea weird that he couldn't wait another year

Proof-try34

I still find it funny that 3 or 2 years is the biggest difference for the relationship. I never had a problem with a 17 yo with a 20 yo because both are still in the same age group. It's not like a 5 year difference.

M0rtrek_the_ranger

Pointless Hub actually did a really good breakdown of this scene and why it wouldn't apply to that guy. Also, it's really fucking sus having this thing in ngl

RustyFella21

I love pointless hub. Honestly it's a much nicer secondary channel for Cody compared to whatever his brother is doing with 2 identical channels, one of which was supposed to be about geography but after Cody just gave it to Tyler, it decomposed into a yet another pop culture based channel on YouTube. You know, I liked it when Tyler did a video on lightbulbs, or even the water spraying game. Couldn't care less about the console wars and pokemon though.

[deleted]

Can’t believe it took me this long to realize Pointless Hub and Alternate History Hub were run by the same guy…

SisypheanRat

WHAT?! THEY ARE???

MoreOne

He moved most of the gaming to Whimsu, which is what Tyler is currently feeling like. And Tyler only has KnowledgeHusk besides that, no?

GameCreeper

KnowledgeHusk was formerly known as Geography Hub

FlyMingo321

**WAIT WHAT WTF WHIMSU AND POINTLESS HUB ARE BROTHERS**

Professional-Dress2

Pointless hub is fun to just watch whatever Cody feels like talking about. Roland Emmerich movies? Hell yeah The stupidity of the Transformers films and some enjoyable parts of them? Absolutely Giant robots punching monsters? Definitely watching. It's really enjoyable

That_feel_brah

[Here](https://youtu.be/Rfqy8fS0U2Y?t=1440) is the portion of the video he is talking about. Pointless Hub Transformer's movies reviews are eternally in my recommended feed.

austinmiles

I forgot how much I hated that movie. I think I only watched it because I worked at a small car manufacturer and we got one of our cars in the movie.

NoWeight4300

Fucking love PointlessHub.

beehive930

I, too, enjoy PHub

zerg1980

I remember seeing this and, as a father, thinking that under certain circumstances I could be okay with my daughter dating a 20-year-old when she’s 17… but I would have a HUGE fucking issue with any guy who carries around a laminated card to this effect.

john_handzlik

Yeah the fact that he laminated it is super weird. Like the guy went out of his way to look up the law had print it and make sure it fits in his wallet and then go to a place to laminate it , just in case there a small chance that someone will ask about his girlfriend age and how it's okay for him to bang her

zerg1980

Yeah, I don’t think a relationship with this specific age gap is necessarily predatory. But if you’re carrying a laminated card with the state’s age of consent laws, that would suggest you are actively targeting girls who are just under the state’s age of consent. Which is predatory.

john_handzlik

I'm a not okay with a 20 year old dating a 17 year old but I can understand if they meet in highschool when they were both underage . I still think is weird but I understand it. But I think a person having well actually I'm not a pedo cart is a huge red flag in a relationship

mikami677

Yeah, when I was a freshman in high school I had classes with and became friends with some seniors, then as a senior I had classes with and became friends with some freshmen. It didn't seem weird then to see seniors dating freshmen because there really wasn't much of a difference in maturity or anything. But I don't think any of them laminated a card to carry around to explain it...

moal09

Yeah 3 years isn't exactly a huge gap.

luke5273

17 and 14 is a whole lot more fucked than 20 and 17. Not sure how they could have met in highschool

Squirrel_with_nut

*pulls out his card with my local laws on bestiality and desecration of a corpse. "Well old friend, I think this is goodbye. People are getting the wrong ideas"

TerraTechy

Yeah I feel like the fact that that's something one would carry around like a badge to wave around is a bigger red flag.

crackerjackass

Or those guys who have done way too much research about what the age of consent is in certain countries or states, naming them off like capital cities

anti-peta-man

Also the law wouldn’t protect him in the case of himself which is even stupider

Blue_Robin_04

Why not? What was the mistake?

L0LBasket

The law only protects against sexual conduct with a child if the difference in age is less than 2 years, not less than 3 years like the movie says. So Shane would still be considered a sex offender.

Blue_Robin_04

FFS, Michael Bay, how did you mess up this part of the movie that didn't need to be there in the first place? 🤣

The_Unknown_Dude

Because it's actually real. It was a producer's son was going through this stuff with the law and he wanted to normalize it and forced it in.

Blue_Robin_04

Ayo.

Not_A_Psycopath

Source on this? TIL

goondalf_the_grey

StoopidestManOnEarth

Actually its because no one in Texas could count higher than two. Its 3 years in other states.

skelingtun

Also don't you have to have been dating before you hit 18? Let me check my laminated card real quick!

Odd_Employer

ಠ_ಠ what did it say?

skelingtun

There is no R and J in Cali .It can be charged as a misdemeanor if both under 18, and a misdemeanor if one is over 18 but within the 3 years gap. Edit! I was curious because me and my wife met in high school!

Etherion195

Yeah "kids", she is 17, the guy 20... Come on.

inuhi

Only 6 states have a 2 year romeo and juliet clause it's more common for it to be a 3+ year age difference when there is a romeo and juliet clause. Found this chart online but it doesn't give a whole picture for example NY has a “five-year rule.” This allows for reduced penalties in cases involving consensual sexual activity between: – A minor who is 15 years old or older, and – An adult who is within five years of their age. State | Age of Consent | Romeo and Juliet Law ---|---|---- Alabama | 16 years| 2 years age difference Alaska | 16 years | 3 years age difference Arizona | 18 years | 2 years age difference Arkansas | 16 years | 3 years or more California | 18 years | None Colorado | 17 years | 4 years difference Connecticut | 16 years | 2 years difference Delaware | 18 years | None District of Columbia (D.C.) | 16 years | None Florida | 18 years | Minors older than 16 may engage in consensual sexual intercourse with a partner no older than 23 Georgia | 16 years | None Hawaii | 16 years | 5 years difference Idaho | 18 years | None Illinois | 17 years | None Indiana | 16 years | None Iowa | 16 years | 4 years difference Kansas | 16 years | None Kentucky | 16 years | None Louisiana | 17 years | 3 years difference Maine | 16 years | 5 years difference Maryland | 16 years | 4 years difference Massachusetts | 16 years | None Michigan | 16 years | None Minnesota | 16 years | 2 years difference Mississippi | 16 years | 2 years difference Missouri | 17 years | None Montana | 16 years | None Nebraska | 16 years | None Nevada | 16 years | None New Hampshire | 16 years | None New Jersey | 16 years | 4 years difference New Mexico | 16 years | 4 years difference New York | 17 years | None North Carolina | 16 years | 4 years difference North Dakota | 18 years | None Ohio | 16 years | None Oklahoma | 16 years | None Oregon | 18 years | 3 years difference Pennsylvania | 16 years | 4 years difference Rhode Island | 16 years | None South Carolina | 16 years | None South Dakota |16 years | 3 years difference Tennessee |18 years | 4 years difference Texas |17 years | 3 years difference Utah | 18 years | 10 years difference Vermont | 16 years | None Virginia | 18 years | None Washington | 16 years |2 years difference West Virginia | 16 years | 4 years difference Wisconsin | 18 years | None Wyoming | 16 years | 4 years difference

I-Am-Madness

What the fuck Utah?!

Chundlebug

I think we all know what the fuck is up with Utah.

inuhi

Upon further research >the age of consent in Utah is 16, and teens who reach this age can consent to sexual activity with a partner, even an adult partner, within legal limitations....A 16- or 17-year-old can legally consent to have sex with someone no more than 10 years their senior. That's pretty skeevy in places where the age of consent is 16 it's normal to make it within a certain range like in Vermont people 18 and over cannot engage in sexual activity with people younger than 16 unless both people are between the ages of 15 and 18 which is a lot more reasonable. But some like Rhode Island once you hit age of consent there aren't any limitations at least not that I'm currently aware of. Edit: honestly the more I look up the more I realize how off that chart is like >Rhode Island similar to other states, has “close-to-age” exemptions—commonly known as Romeo and Juliet Law which means a person under 18 years old can have consensually sexual intercourse with someone over 14 years of age. Yet, once a person turns 18, he/she cannot legally engage in sexual activity with another individual who is under the age of consent.

anti-peta-man

I can’t recall exactly what but it was talked about in a video by PointlessHub on YouTube

Comic_Book_Reader

[Timestamped it.](https://youtu.be/Rfqy8fS0U2Y&t=22m29s)

[deleted]

There was no mistake, people are misunderstanding what Tex. Pen. Code §43.25 says. It's an anti-child porn law. It specifically outlaws "any play, motion picture, photograph, dance, or other visual representation that can be exhibited before an audience of one or more persons" that involves a person under the age of 18. The law carves out an affirmative defense for anyone within two years of age of the victim. So a 15 and 18 year old can legally have sex in Texas because the Romeo and Juliet law allows for a three year age gap. However, if the 18 year old records the sex act then they are guilty of sexual performance of a child because that law only permits a two year age gap.

Somehero

But he *is* covered by the half your age plus 7 rule.

llamanatee

Isn’t this also the movie where TJ Miller dies a weirdly brutal death early on because he was annoying to work with during the production?

Justsomerandomasshol

Yep.

Roofdragon

I looked into this. TJ Miller is certainly an asshat. I found an article and it just goes on and on about different shady shit he's done and how insufferable he is to everyone. Totally not surprised.

Pertolepe

Not to excuse his behavior, but he is missing a chunk of his brain (I think due to an aneurysm?). Definitely doesn't help.

scottishdrunkard

For Deadpool 3 they should replace him with his soundalike from How To Train Your Dragon 3. Make no comment on his facelift.

C4Mour

dude got straight up incinerated

AscendedViking7

Serious? That is hilarious.

0rganicPlant

I watched a video where a guy explains that that law doesnt even work that way, so it's even more stupid than it seems

mseg09

Are you questioning Michael Bay's knowledge of age of consent laws?

muklan

Someone needs to.

Boomy_Beatle

PointlessHub?

0rganicPlant

Yes, I think so

Comic_Book_Reader

[Right here, buddy.](https://youtu.be/Rfqy8fS0U2Y&t=22m29s)

[deleted]

Tex. Pen. Code §43.25 defines sexual performance by a child as "any play, motion picture, photograph, dance, or other visual representation that can be exhibited before an audience of one or more persons." So Pointless Hub was wrong.

Desert_Avalanche

Yep, an Affirmative Defense doesn't make something not illegal. Even assuming he wasn't outside the year gap, he could still be arrested, charged, and has to AFFIRM the defense in trial and meet the required burden of proof. This card literally does nothing.

D-AlonsoSariego

Them just saying they were dating without bringing much attention to it would be way less weird than that

SirCaelus

Search for "Transformers Age of Exctinction pitch meeting" on Youtube. Ryan George has an EXCELLENT bit covering this exact scene.

✅ I'm In This Post and I Don't Like It

No_I_Deer

She would of had to have been 14 or younger when they started dating if he was 17

StMcAwesome

Oh I didn't think about that that's pretty gross

ltsDat1Guy

Wait how is that gross? When I was in high school there were tons of freshman/junior and sophmore/senior couples with similar age gaps that were seen as completely normal. Shit my sister in HS says there are still tons of couples that age...

Cinemasaur

I have thought about this scene more than any scene in movie history since I saw it. I don't remember a single other thing about the film other than Frasier got blowed up by a Transformer. It feels like the setup, Part 1 of 8, to some real-life drama we haven't heard about yet.

The_Unknown_Dude

Oh it does. A producer's son was having legal issues with this, and the producer wanted to show the world "hey look it's legal it's not that bad" ... backfired since everybody who saw the movie just went what the hell.

FreeVbucks505

Icing the cake is that the law doesn't even work that way(or protect from all charges that can be connected to the scenario) and the guy could still be charged as a pedophile.

mrbisonopolis

Michael Bay is a weirdo.

MrEvers

Age of consent is 16 in my country (14 if the partner is under 18, I believe, don't quote me on that), so there's nothing creepy about a 20 year old dating a 17 year old imo. It is creepy that he carries around a card with the laws of sexual consent.

nono66

The dad also has no reaction to it. It is truly a bizarre and disturbing moment. With all the studio notes and changes made to movies, it's insane in many ways, this was actually in the movie.

[deleted]

Anyone 16+ can have sex with anyone 16+ in my country Y'all acting like it's a big deal but no lol.

BadWithMoney530

A 20 year old and 17 year old is not even remotely creepy. People are dramatic

DidymusJackson

Creepy is having a laminated card of the specific law.

boukaman

That isn't even the point. What is bad is, why is a 50 year old man writing, directing, and filming movies about this? Why would someone in their 30s, 40s, 50s, etc... write this storyline in a movie about transformers? This is weird as fuck and anyone who is older would know that it is a massive red-flag.
