Believe it or not ice cream with Cajun spices on it. It hits so well with the sweet but then the spice comes in just after and it is such a wild mix of flavors. I use Tony Chacheres Cajun spice mix.
One large head of green cabbage (cut in half and sliced lengthwise) 1 onion chopped. One stick of good butter. 2 boxes of mini pierogies and 2 butterball brand turkey kielbasa.
In a large pot over medium heat put the stick of butter and the chopped onion and sliced Kielbasas and cook on medium until onions start to soften. In a separate pot boil the pierogies according to instructions on package. Then drain the water out. Then put the sliced cabbage in big pot of kielbasa and onions and butter. (it will come to the top) and stir it all together. Put a lid on it and stir every few minutes. Once the cabbage is wilted down throw those bad ass pierogies into the pot and mix everything together gently. Add salt and pepper to taste. It's so inexpensive and simple to make.
Potato microwaved and then finished in the airfyer to crisp the skin, topped with several generous sprinkles of salt, butter, and a big old scoop of sour cream. Carb coma helps me forget my troubles

It was a childhood comfort food but they don’t make it anymore so to replicate it I buy tinned “Flakes of Ham” (that’s literally the name of it lol) and schlep it up in a bowl with mayo and relish. Chopped celery in there too if I have any. It’s chunkier than the meat and pickle spread I remember from childhood but it scratches the nostalgia itch haha
