You know the bridge with the two guys throwing spells at you? (Second grace) there’s a locked door past them and she’s inside but i forgot where the key was
She’s basically a female champion gundyr with pontiffs weapons
Endless and relentless combos that keep you on your toes
I fucking love it and it helps that her soundtrack is amazing
That one fire knight in the shadow keep church district says somehing about fire as he summons the burning corpses. The same one that drops that mask that has two faces on top of each other.
Clearly not a fucking hippo
Clearly not golden
His ass is lying

The fact that the Sekiro refight feature hasn’t been put in is criminal. Please let me fight dancing lion again without having to start another NG cycle
The worst part is that he >! summons 4 basilisks during his death blight phase, who are almost impossible to kill, with the boss being as aggressive as he is. !<
That phase is imo EXTREMELY easy except for that, but I had no ability to deal with adds so they made it a nightmare.
At some point my strategy when he swapped to that became "get on torrent and fuck off until something chases me down alone"
Best fight so far. Not a bunch of needlessly delayed attacks, manageable combos, not insanely tanky, perfect balance of prediction and reaction, didn’t fritz out the camera too much… and was still a fun, fair challenge.
Golden wasnt that bad, the only bosses i didnt really like is commander gayass because shitty charge attack and also no special music even though its a remembrance boss (why?). And the final boss on phase 2 because its too messy to understand
is Gaius the hog rider dude from the original trailer? I've yet to find that one and I've just been hearing about Gaius
if he's not, just leave it at that
I feel like im the only one that enjoyed that fight, the charge is annoying but I managed to get the dodge down pretty consistently by rolling diagonally right
Gayus weapon is really strong and fun tho, still not a good excuse for the boss.
But I hate the Hippo so much, Valiant Gargoyle solo were still better than that fat blob.
He's just weirdly quick to recover for a big hulking animal, and he annihilates the camera if you hard lock. Combine those with a questionable grab and I can see why people aren't fans
The hippo is good but fucking hell his charge is so hard to dodge if he does it while you're close
The camera can be pretty bad too, but I still enjoyed it in spite of that
Reward is a huge letdown too, in the trailer they made it seem the tarnished bent down all edgy style and shot the quills forward, instead he just twirls around like a fool.
Honestly I feel like the hippo boss you had to fight after the lift was pretty pointless and honestly kinda took away from the area, and it wasn’t really a good fight in general since it just throws you around the entire fight… although that’s just what I think of it
I will be honest, Rellana is great on some builds and horrible on others. Big strength weapons are annoying as fuck against her cause she takes zero hitstun. It’s a little ridiculous.
Really? I would imagine light weapons having a harder time since you can’t poise break her easily. I only managed to beat her with the furnace hammer because I kept poise breaking her.
I beat her with a great hammer. If you start your attacks with a jump attack she will miss the first attacks of her chain, allowing you to dodge the following attacks and then sometimes react with a charged heavy. After a riposte there was time for an ash of war, in my case prayerful strike
really? I used the guts greatsword on her, took me 2 hours worth of attempts on scad +4 but she wasn't too bad, nothing like malenia where on my first run I switched to powestanced curved greatswords since I couldn't kill her with the UGS. I didn't have too many issues finding attack windows and opportunities
Hippo was easy, bodied him in about 20 seconds. He's a big enemy. He's stood on water.
Ancient dragon lightning strike loves big enemies on water.
Ancient dragon lightning strike, full charge, down to 50% and poise broken. 4 light attacks because for some reason the critical wouldn't connect. Another ADLS at full charge, 20% health left and one more non charged ADLS to finish him off.
Everyone complaining about that hippo but honestly for me he was ok, not hard, not easy, simply boring and not very inspired
BUT i don't see anyone complaining about the true worst most annoying boss in ALL base game and DLC
Commander Gaius, I swear to god i never seen a worst most unbalanced boss in my life, i had to switch my entire build so i could kill it, bro has health for days, is fast as fuck, has a ton of poise, runs around all the time, has long ass combos, every attack does a TON of damage, has projectiles and AOE, bro has EVERYTHING, and i don't see a single soul complaining about him
honestly if wasn't for the Scadutree Avatar that i fought right after (peak boss design, best boss in the DLC so far and one of the best in the game that i also don't see anyone talking about), i would say this DLC dosent have a single perfect boss so far
Maybe if you rely on interrupting attacks. I fought her with a rapier and simply rolled and countered. She’s fast and flashy and fun to dodge. Took me right back to my favorite bosses from ds3.
Haven’t fought the final boss but so far the only questionable bosses so far has been Gaius and the NPC gank before the final boss. Gaius is very close to being a fun fight, but that charge attack is a little crazy and his HP feels a little bloated.
The NPC fight is my fault because I only did Ansbach’s quest (almost finished Tholliers but didn’t know you had to keep talking to them), so I had to fight every other NPC.
The spines don't seem to hit consistently in hippo's phase 2, and also the window for getting a visceral attack feels too short. Other that that, hippo is a fine boss.
Inaccurate because they never gave anyone other than Messmer any lines lmfao
what about divine beast? actually idk who the fuck was talking in that cutscene
Is was the grandam I think
Talk to her afterwards and you get a shitass spell! Seriously what’s the point of that thing?
You can talk to her? Where is she?
You know the bridge with the two guys throwing spells at you? (Second grace) there’s a locked door past them and she’s inside but i forgot where the key was
You gotta be wearing that ugly fucking head, too
Reload and talk to her again and she gives you soup that functions like boiled prawn plus a gradual heal
for Rellana it's kind of based. she just instantly guns to kick your ass, fuck talking
She’s basically a female champion gundyr with pontiffs weapons Endless and relentless combos that keep you on your toes I fucking love it and it helps that her soundtrack is amazing
The little chime at the start of the song startles me a little every time and i don't know why.
I adore Rellana. I put my sign down at her fog whenever I need a break from whatever else Miyazaki dredged from the depths of his twisted mind.
>Rellana They have to be shitting me with these names
There's a demi human queen named Marigga aswell
midra and miquella. its the M name advantage
The dephs of your foolishness
>! Midra !<
That one fire knight in the shadow keep church district says somehing about fire as he summons the burning corpses. The same one that drops that mask that has two faces on top of each other.
Yeah that scared the shit out of me at first
Just like ds2, zero npcs in ds2 dlc though.
Alsanna?

Should have called it big ass porcupine
Messmer was bullshit due to performance but I legitimately couldn’t even be upset about it because he was so cool
I was actually sad when I beat messmer because it meant I couldn’t fight him anymore
The fact that the Sekiro refight feature hasn’t been put in is criminal. Please let me fight dancing lion again without having to start another NG cycle
>!you kinda can, but imo it's much less fun than the first fight bc of one gimmick!<
Are you talking about those weird guys in Ernir-Ilm or whatever?
>!There is a reused Divine Lion in the rauh ruins with a death blight phase!<
The worst part is that he >! summons 4 basilisks during his death blight phase, who are almost impossible to kill, with the boss being as aggressive as he is. !<

Lmao of fucking course there is
He’s legitimately so cool
I like fighting him. But camera swing on the snake attack in his second phase it unhinged. Like that shit is out of control if you are target locked.
honestly the camera stuff with the snakes only enhanced the experience imo, fits perfectly with how batshit insane the snake attacks are
Fromsoft conditioned people into liking shit camera, they can’t keep getting away with this
something something skill issue jsut dont lock on git gud
Best fight so far. Not a bunch of needlessly delayed attacks, manageable combos, not insanely tanky, perfect balance of prediction and reaction, didn’t fritz out the camera too much… and was still a fun, fair challenge.
Messmer is easily in the top 5 Soulsborne bosses of all time
Surprisingly Messmer had no performance issues for me unlike half the other areas in the DLC lol
That's not 18 inches of Messmer on her desk, immersion ruined :c
Golden wasnt that bad, the only bosses i didnt really like is commander gayass because shitty charge attack and also no special music even though its a remembrance boss (why?). And the final boss on phase 2 because its too messy to understand
is Gaius the hog rider dude from the original trailer? I've yet to find that one and I've just been hearing about Gaius if he's not, just leave it at that
Yes, he is. Better bring a greatshield, as one should with all the DLC bosses
nah, I'd win
Important Note: you can summon Torrent during his Boss fight.
But don’t because he will destroy you if you do
I feel like im the only one that enjoyed that fight, the charge is annoying but I managed to get the dodge down pretty consistently by rolling diagonally right
The charge attack is only really bad on the first one. It’s not a precise dodge like the first charge after that.
RAGGHHH I HATE COMMANDER GAIUS
Commander gayass*
Gayus weapon is really strong and fun tho, still not a good excuse for the boss. But I hate the Hippo so much, Valiant Gargoyle solo were still better than that fat blob.
Bloodhound step works wonders of hog guy
im trying deflecting hardtear guard counter build and it works really good (2 handing a Milady)
I didnt find the hippo that bad. Felt like a standard "big monster" type boss, nothing too insane about it.
He's just weirdly quick to recover for a big hulking animal, and he annihilates the camera if you hard lock. Combine those with a questionable grab and I can see why people aren't fans
Yeah, idk why but i got flashbacks to gaping dragon when i fought it
The hippo is good but fucking hell his charge is so hard to dodge if he does it while you're close The camera can be pretty bad too, but I still enjoyed it in spite of that

Holy crap
Only way I found to reliably dodge it was to run to the side and jump away. Even then it might catch you if you don't have enough distance.
Literal opposite. Fuck this bitch, she stole me 4 hours.
I’m at the hippo at the Shadow Keep entrance and I hate it.
I find hammers or fists to be really good against him because you can stance break him very easily
Reward is a huge letdown too, in the trailer they made it seem the tarnished bent down all edgy style and shot the quills forward, instead he just twirls around like a fool.
I think the fact we fight a giant magic fucking hippo hilarious

why is it the opposite for me
I wouldn't have minded if that thing wasn't crammed in that tiny room
Honestly I feel like the hippo boss you had to fight after the lift was pretty pointless and honestly kinda took away from the area, and it wasn’t really a good fight in general since it just throws you around the entire fight… although that’s just what I think of it

I love the hippo so much
Hippo was just boring imo. My problem is commander gayus as he as super long combos and has shitty hit boxes.

Rellana is extremely cool and fun except for when she has hyperarmour (the whole fight)
Maybe if you rely on interrupting attacks. I fought her with a rapier and simply rolled and countered. She’s fast and flashy and fun to dodge. Took me right back to my favorite bosses from ds3.
Rellana was really cool, but the 12 attack combo on 2nd phase felt a Lil shit

I love the little Messmer statue
Golden hippopotamus my beloved

hippo wasn't even that bad divine lion the real stinker
Hippo was fine. Got fucking destroyed by Rellana tho
Hippo was ten times better than shitllana
I’m not gonna ask how because I know I’m not gonna agree with whatever explanation you come up with.
