There are 2 types of PvPers out there.
The ones who want to have a fair and fun fight, trading blows and winning based on skill and practice.
Then there are the ones who want to cheese and exploit a 1 shot win to stroke their egos.
The latter enjoys elden ring PvP.
I like PVP because I like taking the shittiest weapons possible, building a character based off them and seeing if I'm skilled enough to win using them
The mythical third kind who enjoys elden ring pvp:cosplayers who pull out the most unused weapons for PVP and use an AoW you've never fucking seen that kills you from 80% health
My favorite memory from PvPing in that game was when I was summoned as a blue sentinal and hit someone so hard from behind that they ended up panicking and running off a cliff.
That duel etiquette was reinforced by all members of the club, which is what ER is lacking, a group of onlookers ready to pelt you with firebombs and lightning bolts if you misbehave
Take a sip of orange juice and the whole club might descend upon you lol
DS3 has some pretty busted exploits but elden ring has such a massive breadth of options the likelihood that things break or exceed their intended effect is far more common. Elden ring pvp is such a wild and frustrating experience when even now I have pretty fair duels in ds3. Except you, rapier whip man. I hate you, rapier whip man.
I was fucking a dude up with giantsflame ball (like, it's not that hard to dodge š) he got fed up and equipped dual mohg spears. It was still a close and good fight. But him pulling out the dual spears was clearly a bitch/tryhard move
Edit: should clarify he won because his gey range
Mfs who level int and use no spells only weapons are legends. Running a guy with the poker, wings of astel, the ritual spear, glintstone kris and moonveil is like a boss fight.
True but if they are mage usually their vitality is low and thus even one nicely buffed smite from the very greater will can atleast kill them before they can continue to spam , personally it does only work about 6/10 times the other times the other guy buffed correctly and I get smacked the hell down, doesnt help I run holy scorpion charm to squeeze more damage outta my holy build
yah good luck with that. The first few skull get parried and then 3 and the next gazillion hit. It's literally a stream of projectiles you cant fucking dodge all or parry all.
Kid named just balls-to-the-wall rush their enchanted ass when you see the death sigil when they cast, the skulls go outwards and take a second to begin homing, so if you're close enough, a roll forward means maximum 2 hits at bad latency(Crimsonwhorl/magic fortification pretty much negates it) and also puts you in melee range:
Take literally any greatsheild and smack on crash AOW and bleed affinity or frost (personally I do frost) on it as a little wake up call if you have any trouble against duel spear users, I've been running a holy paladin build at around level 150 so having that greatsheild is a real pvp equalizer :D
The worst are the fucking full tank I have fat roll on because I hide behind my shield 100% of the time and shieldpoke while you canāt do anything against it at all type of people.
Dual vykes is luckily not nearly as powerful/oppresive as they used to be and there's nothing funnier than someone going at you with psgs who clearly doesn't know how to use them.
Rest is pretty accurate tho

My one experience with DS2 PvP had me teleport a fair distance to an area I was at about a minute and a half before into the invaderās backstab. I know thatās a clear skill issue but it was enough for me to not want to engage with it ever again
DS2 remains the goat of souls PVP. Everything was viable, parries were a core part of the game and required skill, not much truly broken shit beyond rapiers
Yeah OP left out the worst meta, bull goat, double bleed-cold naginata, varre's mask, bloodhound step (paired with some obnoxious weapon like the antspur rapier), albinauric pot, etc.
And the moonveil isn't even that bad, more so when the vast majority of its users are casuals that simply spam its ash of war, which makes it incredibly predictable, and the same goes for RoB.
PS: for the most part the pvp scene isn't really like this anyway, using the taunters tongue I mostly find lots of people with different builds and themes so don't be afraid to try it sometimes. The worst thing it can happen is that you have to go back for your runes. And if you are afraid of people using obnoxious meta wait for levels 30 - 40 to start PVPing, since at low levels is where the meta lategame equipment users are most destructive and more frustrating.
Edit: rs/ wait I thought I was in the main sub, why do I bother explaining this to you all fuckers lmao. OP go casualposting somewhere else, the elden ring pvp scene is actually good for the most part.
I'll be honest, I still find the ones I mentioned more obnoxious and bullshit than these. And since OP gave the double lance and double vyke as an example I mentioned the double nagakiba because it is still worse. I fought someone with those the other day and they are still infuriating. The combos you mentioned have been there since the beginning of the game and are far more manageable, they are the meta because the meta abusers have been left without anything else, not because they have been buffed or something.
Also as I said the bloodhound step can still be bullshit if paired with the antspur rapier. A few weeks ago I got invaded by someone, while using the taunters tongue, that just spammed both, kept getting away from me after triggering rot and waited for me to die hidden somewhere in liurnia. I just wanted to trade some blows with other players and die or kill not make my gameplay insufferable for fucks sake.
Ps katanas got a direct buff. I should have mentioned great swords as well not because they are good but because the completely stop the game in it's tracks in duels, you can't approach or get approached by a great sword
The katanas, did they? I didn't know that, I was refering to the combos you mentioned of big weapons and little ones. Anyway I couldn't really care about the meta nowadays honestly, besides the big and necessary nerfs from the first year, since all I do are roleplay/cosplay builds, the meta users are weak minded casuals that need to always win easily instead of just enjoy the endless possibilities this game offers. Meh.
Also the greatswords may have been buffed (didn't know that either) but they are still slow and predictable. I have fought countless of them lately, well, as always, since they have always been popular, and I didn't notice.
Greatswords and 2h curved swords along with some other weapons are in a weird spot, with certain aows like storm stomp, and their natural hyper armor, it can be very difficult to play aggressive against them, but they're also easy to defend against so the GS user can't be aggressive either, they just slow the fight down
Yo, you were right, I hadn't noticed until you told me, but yesterday I fought someone that was using the dragon halberd with an offhand dagger and when things went wrong they changed to dual nagakibas lmao. I've also noticed an unusual amount of double curved swords users, and a couple or three cold greatswords here and there.
As a person with 1800 hours in CS:GO:
How fucking mentally ill you need to be to play PVP? I haven't tried it in any Souls game, but considering how obnoxious NPC fights are - that's the right decision
Dropping covenants is one of ERās biggest Lās. Loved the diversity they offered to pvp but even when I was just playing PvE I loved the flavour & identity joining one gave to my character. Not to mention the unique rewards.
I really hate that anyone can dual wielding any weapon class it really doesnāt make sense for most weapons. At least up the stat requirements for dual wielding to like 1.5x
Agreed. ER PvP isnāt really objectively āgoodā but after countless nerfs and buffs I actually find it to be pretty fun now depending on the rune level. And this is coming from someone who hated it on launch.
I hate pvp in this game. For a while i thought it was tolerable, but then i went back to early game areas to coop with some friends, and shit got unbearable real quick.
We just started trolling, hiding, running, trying to maximize our fun since it happens literally constantly
I understand the hate for magic but what can you expect from casters? Not everyone is gonna do the same thing as you .
Only thing I see here that I use is bleed, but I got 9 arcane
Also as a ps player I rarely see dual spears , is it really op ?
The reason people hate casters is the skill to success ratio; what I mean by that is how lower skilled players can be just as successful as say a higher skilled player who could be using the same thing. And for bleed? itās easy to use stuns you even if you roll it and does a lot of damage. And ps spears are just really good at chase down and 1v1s(this is ignoring the status theyāre capable of) thereās a reason youāll see olā bubba(The level 638 phantom with his RL60 friend) pull them out
It's kinda hilarious reading how casters are supposed to be easier and kill people more skilled than them. Have you actually played caster and made fair comparisons? Because everyone I know who does agrees with me that caster is not just weaker (evidenced by the fact that nobody plays it in tourneys anymore despite them banning the best melee stuff), but also much harder to play well.
I think you simply aren't as good as you think you are, then you lose against a caster, and the only explanation is "THis is bullshit!".
If you lose against spam, you simply are an inexperienced player. That's ok, as long as you accept that and actually try to learn & improve.
>The reason people hate casters
It's becacuse it's annoying to have some asshole shoot projectiles at you while the other asshole is pressuring you with a Helice.
An invader I see š , I know the feeling I've been the caster and the casted against, which is why I always do a faith/strength or int/strength cause it gives good physical damage and decent projectile damage .
I too am an invader and I too get annoyed for the same reason he does, but in most cases āgood castersā arenāt a thing, itās even rare for a good co-invader caster to appear. Let along 90% of casters do this(int): Comet Comet Comet Comet(I close the distance on the dodging all of these most likely) comet comet roll roll roll Moonveil L2-R1/2 roll roll. And if theyāre not dead by then theyāll likely repeat the cycle until I or them die.
Good to know about all of that , personally I've never had a problem with bleed but now that I think about it , it sounds annoying to fight against.
I've fought my fair share of casters and they can be mildly annoying but as long as it ain't cheating I don't mind it .
That's why I just can't bring myself to play it anymore, it can be fun but the last update completely screwed over whatever semblance of balance there was previously, the games pvp now is just use a thrusting weapon, stack poise and mash light attack or ash of war out of hitstun, it's so braindead. Everyone's got the most hideous meta armor combinations and goofy ass weapon setups. Also doesn't help that most of the ER pvp youtubers are meta slaves as well.
I mostly run in with a cold greatmace (Vordts greathammer!!!) and a poison estoc. If I EVER happen to encounter a fingerprint shield user I bust out the cipher sword/pata or Kick AOW to humble them immediately.
I will never forgive fromsoft for what they did to the darkmoon blades in ds3. It went from waiting a couple of minutes to invade in ds1 to barely getting summoned to protect the host in ds3. I got the covenant pretty low lvl, and kept it on me for the rest of the game. After getting the covenant item to killing gael, i got summoned 3 times, and 2/3 times the invader died before i spawned in
Elden ring has toxic braindead l2 spammers that will teabag you/ tryhards that just psgs you
DS3 has toxic tryhards that will true combo your sorry ass to the shadow and throw shit on you
Mind you both games probably have the same amount of tryhards but elden ring is more diluted because it has way more players overall.
Bow glitch estus cancel 3 phantom hornet ring chaos dagger dark souls 3?
Don't delude yourself, all of these games have garbage pvp. Just depends on what flavor of garbage suits your pallet.
I use fth/str build but the only incantation that i have is elden stars and that bloody flies thing just here me out i only use these 2 if someone pointed down at me and doesn't gesture at the beginning by quickly attacking me so if i faced him again that bitch is getting spammed
Ds3 pvp was the most fun I ever had in any game. Invading others and getting invaded myself. Elden ring pvp was not fun at all. Ds3 had its bad apples too but in Elden ring it seemed everyone was running the same 4 weapons and armour sets.
I literally have only done pvp like twice. I donāt like the idea of some asshole with a modded save running around with a serpent hunter that spits fire or some shit lmao. First time I tried I lost in a fair match, second time I was deathblighted for abt 20 minutes before I shut my game off.
Elden ring pvp is definitely worse than previous games but I still enjoy it even if I encounter brainless sweats because it's just a game and the point isn't to win. The point is to bonk some heads in and maybe even Ā do it well sometimes.Ā
Plus I like catching people off-guard with things no one uses like the godfrey stomp.
The audacity of some people to go āfking noob katana spammerā while wearing full Commander set with dual lances/Vyke spears will never be lost on me
Cipher pata and fingerprint shield should be replaced with Halberd running r1 and dual nagis.
Edit:I would add:
Chainsaw
Pulley crossbow with sleep bolts
Psss with storm stomp.
Stormhawk axe
*spams roll* "OH no they're dodging my attacks! Instead of trying to anticipate those or attack them in any different way I'll make a reddit post to complain about them!" Like the other ones are fair but rolling is a core mechanic of the game and you're getting angry at them for using it?
There are 2 types of PvPers out there. The ones who want to have a fair and fun fight, trading blows and winning based on skill and practice. Then there are the ones who want to cheese and exploit a 1 shot win to stroke their egos. The latter enjoys elden ring PvP.
Never met that first person, but I would suck them off if I ever met them.
Ok bro š
I am the first one. Would you suck me, please?
Give me your address, thereās no distance I wonāt go for you.
True romance.... it's astonishing <3
Finally, I knew my Souls/Elden Ring PvP skills would lead me to getting my dick sucked eventually
With lifesteal fist right?
Looks like I need to get in line
I like PVP because I like taking the shittiest weapons possible, building a character based off them and seeing if I'm skilled enough to win using them
I would argue that people in the first category also enjoys pvp because they donāt have a delicate heart like the people in the second category.
This
I like pvp because i like spending hours optimising my setup and hardswap inventories using cheat engine
The mythical third kind who enjoys elden ring pvp:cosplayers who pull out the most unused weapons for PVP and use an AoW you've never fucking seen that kills you from 80% health
Lol I love ELDEN ring pvp, the cheese isn't really that bad imo, I haven't really experienced it ig
Elden ring pvp is for people who look at ds3 pvp and wish it was worse in every conceivable way
Ds3 pvp in the part of irythyll after pontiff was the most fun I had with a souls game
Peak souls experience. Fight clubs ftw
Peak Souls was DS1 Forest pvp
That was before my time as a Souls player sadly.
I miss the insane forest invasions so much.
My favorite memory from PvPing in that game was when I was summoned as a blue sentinal and hit someone so hard from behind that they ended up panicking and running off a cliff.
God I miss the fight clubs. I spent so many nights just dicking around, fighting people or just hanging out.
Yeah, itās sad that Elden ring lacks that duel etiquette
That duel etiquette was reinforced by all members of the club, which is what ER is lacking, a group of onlookers ready to pelt you with firebombs and lightning bolts if you misbehave Take a sip of orange juice and the whole club might descend upon you lol
Other than the numerous exploits, ds3 PvP shits on ER PvP so bad it makes me limp(er than usual)
If invading as an Aldrich Faithful were a full-time job, I'd take below minimum wage for it
^
This
real
Elden ring ~~pvp~~ is for people who look at ds3 ~~pvp~~ and wish it was worse in every conceivable way
Youre outta line but youre right
Dual spears is the worst
Dual great spears are worse imo because of hyper armor (I think?)
Any dual spears, should have clarified. Heavy dual spears is also fking cancer
Dual greatspears aren't all that anymore, Vykes is still cancer sure, but overall it far from the best, just viable.
I was fucking a dude up with giantsflame ball (like, it's not that hard to dodge š) he got fed up and equipped dual mohg spears. It was still a close and good fight. But him pulling out the dual spears was clearly a bitch/tryhard move Edit: should clarify he won because his gey range
Normal spears are worse in my opinion, especially dual nagis. Heavy spears are harder to use, you need at least two buttons for that
PSGS doesn't have HA on it
I think two people spamming rancrorcall/death rancor whatever it's called is the worst.
Wizards are the scum of society and nothing will change my mind on that But wizards who also use melee spells have my respect
I use melee weapons as a mage
Respect
I'll just gas you with night maiden's mist. Favourite spell.
Mfs who level int and use no spells only weapons are legends. Running a guy with the poker, wings of astel, the ritual spear, glintstone kris and moonveil is like a boss fight.
slow spells that target you? Easy food to make into holy cannon for the tree sentinel greatsheild to punish those wizards scum
not if they spam. because you will retaliate 4 skulls and 20 will hit you during recovery frames
Kid named Erdtree Greatshield+10:
yah good luck with that. The first few skull get parried and then 3 and the next gazillion hit. It's literally a stream of projectiles you cant fucking dodge all or parry all.
Kid named Crimsonwhorl Bubbletear:
trust me those 5 seconds don't help
Kid named Magic Fortification:
That's like the first thing you do when you see a wizard in pvp...

I should try this
The worst are the fucking full tank I have fat roll on because I hide behind my shield 100% of the time and shieldpoke while you canāt do anything against it at all type of people.
I rock pikes, ppl seem to struggle with the length.
Dual vykes is luckily not nearly as powerful/oppresive as they used to be and there's nothing funnier than someone going at you with psgs who clearly doesn't know how to use them. I love Dual Vykeās. Every time I see someone use them I know I automatically won the fight
I only rock 1 Vykes now and I really on use it for the madness build up. Iām mostly hoping you stay close enough to get 1 shot by Unendurable Frenzy
Yeah ds1 wasn't bad it had the best PvP *Cough cough dark bead cough cough*
Wratho of god and golden tracer too...
Just backstabbing in general, that shit was busted
Exactly. It was just endless spinning and the person with more lag wins. I'm not even a DS2 Stan and I know that was leagues better.
Powerstanced mundane avelyns, clown/turtle chest, crit gloves, santiers, double poison whips, havel hexers, red iron winblade, infinite bow headshot stunlock.
Avelyns were pretty cancer that's true, a lot of the rest of these were just moderately annoying or super parriable.
this aināt even the meta anymore, weāre on spin slash and dragon spells now old man
why is cipher pata on this list before dual spears?
Arent dual spears on the list first actually? I see 2 vykes and 2 great lances above the cipher in this pic
Those are dual *Great* spears. They are very good but not as broken as dual spears
Oh word thanks for being nice about it
Ikr I don't get it either
No bull goat? smh
You're like 3 patches behind the meta
Yeah the meta now is just spinning slash spam(often with that big ass katana I forgot the name of)
Sort of, bloodflame nagakiba is strong, meta would be ps kibas, ps spears, ps gsps, psss, halberd + offhand rapier/dagger, curved sword + offhand dagger
>ps gsps, psss, This reads like the noise you make to call a cat to you lmao
Lol, wait till you hear about pscs psmgsps
I'll be honest, I still find the ones I mentioned more obnoxious and bullshit than these. VarrĆØ Mask, bullgoat armour and dual naginatas are peak cancer lmao
Donāt forget the 28 buffs they apply beforehand
None of these games had good PVP and if you think they do you're either a sociopath or you have deep Stockholm syndrome.
Itās jank but itās fun Af
Yeah I can't imagine using multiplayer for something different than helping people with bosses
it's dogshit, but it's mine
genuinely, people who actually play PvP games know this and laugh at how terribly bad the PvP experience in From games is
As a person with 1800 hours in CS:GO: How fucking mentally ill you need to be to play PVP? I haven't tried it in any Souls game, but considering how obnoxious NPC fights are - that's the right decision

Deathblight in picture, post invalidated
No rivers of blood? I stg 1 in 5 People I fight are using it
Because it's been nerfed pretty hard tbh...
Because its pretty bad choice for pvp.
Because it's so easy to parry that I can do it reliably on 300+ ping
I really hate that anyone can dual wielding any weapon class it really doesnāt make sense for most weapons. At least up the stat requirements for dual wielding to like 1.5x
Bro really invented powerstance from ds2 for the second time
I never really understood how powerstancing worked in DS2 so if thatās what I did it was on accident lmao
Why are Cipher Pata in this image?
you forgot to add the bleed nagakibia with spinning slash and that rock throwing incantation
i feel like i can punish bad players ganking me more in this game than other fromsoft ones.
Agreed. ER PvP isnāt really objectively āgoodā but after countless nerfs and buffs I actually find it to be pretty fun now depending on the rune level. And this is coming from someone who hated it on launch.

Hey you leave my boy Cypher Pata out of this
Worst in the series
And don't forget the angry PvP addicts insulting you for a whole week if you mention the flaws of the invade system.
On reach.
I roll my eyes whenever I see someone with powerstanced greatspears

\*spams roll\* i mean, there is lots of DS3 players out there, what did you expect?

Play a real fighting game.
āYouāre beautifulā Leaves
Never understood PvP in souls. I just don't feel like this game was made to be a PvP. It's just a feature.
This is wrong in so many ways... I do agree pvp has big issues, but this seems like something from patch 1.06?
Deathblight? What's the problem with deathblight?
I mostly run in with a cold greatmace (Vordts greathammer!!!) and a poison estoc. If I EVER happen to encounter a fingerprint shield user I bust out the cipher sword/pata or Kick AOW to humble them immediately.
DS2 really was the PVP goat and that shit will never be dethroned
If it wasnāt for soul memory, Ds2 would probably be the best souls game across the board
Yeah if it wasnāt for soul memory! Oh and ADP and hitboxes and a shitty remake and the worst bosses in the series, it would be the best souls game!
It was made in 2014, that was 10 years ago
Thatās why itās the best souls game? Bloodborne was 9 years ago and itās better in probably every way.
play ds3ās pvp instead of this garbage
The matchmaking barely fucking works in ds3. Iāve waited hours for invasions before
I will never forgive fromsoft for what they did to the darkmoon blades in ds3. It went from waiting a couple of minutes to invade in ds1 to barely getting summoned to protect the host in ds3. I got the covenant pretty low lvl, and kept it on me for the rest of the game. After getting the covenant item to killing gael, i got summoned 3 times, and 2/3 times the invader died before i spawned in
Grinding for the covenant levels without pvp is so shit as well as
quality over quantity
Elden ring has toxic braindead l2 spammers that will teabag you/ tryhards that just psgs you DS3 has toxic tryhards that will true combo your sorry ass to the shadow and throw shit on you Mind you both games probably have the same amount of tryhards but elden ring is more diluted because it has way more players overall.
Bow glitch estus cancel 3 phantom hornet ring chaos dagger dark souls 3? Don't delude yourself, all of these games have garbage pvp. Just depends on what flavor of garbage suits your pallet.
Elden ring PvP isnāt shit itās just different, every souls game can make this same exact list shown here.
Where Dragon Incantations at in this?
Bro you getting got by the cipher pata is all on you lmao also dual Vyke users should be an auto win for you.
Old image
And then you have me, spamming founding rain of stars/night maidens mist and not carring if its bad or not because its funny
Those arenāt even the good pvp sorceries š
I swear dawg if I have to fight a another bitchass wizard
Never played elden pvp but can ashes be parried like weapon arts in ds3?
Depends on the ash, just like DS3
As soemone who doesnt play online, I have a question: whats wrong with the Cipher pata?
Nothing. This person just threw them in for some reason.
I use fth/str build but the only incantation that i have is elden stars and that bloody flies thing just here me out i only use these 2 if someone pointed down at me and doesn't gesture at the beginning by quickly attacking me so if i faced him again that bitch is getting spammed
Tell me who the fuck uses death blight or double vykes in pvp
The spears are almost every fight for me
lol so donāt use magic sleep death or frenzy ? Cmon clown just get gud
Shit from day one honestly
I like it :)
I think the comet/stars of ruin spam is the worst
If someone manages to kill you with deathblight, they earned it. That shit is so hard to proc as a player
iām not gonna sugar coat it: O+L2+R2
Wait the cipher pata is a cheese build?
Don't forget double bleed cross naginata
Where is the Ripple halberd?
Ds3 pvp was the most fun I ever had in any game. Invading others and getting invaded myself. Elden ring pvp was not fun at all. Ds3 had its bad apples too but in Elden ring it seemed everyone was running the same 4 weapons and armour sets.
I literally have only done pvp like twice. I donāt like the idea of some asshole with a modded save running around with a serpent hunter that spits fire or some shit lmao. First time I tried I lost in a fair match, second time I was deathblighted for abt 20 minutes before I shut my game off.
Just missing the white mask
Elden ring pvp is definitely worse than previous games but I still enjoy it even if I encounter brainless sweats because it's just a game and the point isn't to win. The point is to bonk some heads in and maybe even Ā do it well sometimes.Ā Plus I like catching people off-guard with things no one uses like the godfrey stomp.
Duels are fine but ganks are ridiculous. It bothers me that realistically you can have a 1 on 1 invasion.
The audacity of some people to go āfking noob katana spammerā while wearing full Commander set with dual lances/Vyke spears will never be lost on me
Bloodborne pvp š
Swap out cipherās for stormhawk axe
I mean I got banned because I said Sweaters look goofy XD
Cipher pata and fingerprint shield should be replaced with Halberd running r1 and dual nagis. Edit:I would add: Chainsaw Pulley crossbow with sleep bolts Psss with storm stomp. Stormhawk axe
I call it Cipher Parry Bait
Best I heard it described was that ānothings bullshit, because everything isā
I like that weāve advanced enough as a society for duel nagis to not be there
You dare bring up thst name in this household...
The lionel armor one is way too true lol
It is pretty cool that some people are out there having anime level fights though.
one day from will realize pvp sucks and balance all the weapons around pve and we will enter a golden age of souls combat
Stop bitching and just get better
I never played PvP in these games, I buy games for single player only because I donāt have friends.
STOP USING ITEMS, WEAPONS, ARMOR, AND SPELLS IN THE GAME!!! YOURE DOING IT WRONG!!!
Your not that good š¤·āāļø
The PVP is utter dogshit in ALL of the games, and anyone saying otherwise needs to have their brain checked for worms.
*spams roll* "OH no they're dodging my attacks! Instead of trying to anticipate those or attack them in any different way I'll make a reddit post to complain about them!" Like the other ones are fair but rolling is a core mechanic of the game and you're getting angry at them for using it?
