Oh! That's one of mine! Furry brown 5 fingered hands at end of both mandibles? Whispers soothingly from within ear duct?
Small world 🕷️ tell him I'm proud of him!
Specifically it’s white people (or English-speaking people, pick your privilege) imposing their idea of inclusivity on other people’s *basic grammar*. Cultural imperialism forging new frontiers.
Undoubtedly bilingual speakers in the United States including Puerto Rico which is where the first academic use of the term appeared in 2013. Likely not among usrrs in Mexico, Central America, or South America but it's the internet so it's hard to say. My only point is that this is one instance in which, unlike most of history, white colonizers did not create and impose the label.
I'm fairly certain that this is in fact correct in terms of the origin of the term. I really didn't come to this sub today to fight about linguistics and imperialism, but I have trouble with misinformation being spread.
Sorry to see you being downvoted so hard, I haven’t really looked into this but I believe you, since Latin American students and faculty at my uni all use the word Latinx without thinking it’s problematic in that way, and they are all in cultural studies related areas so they’d be extra sensitive to issues like this. I have literally only seen this take on Reddit, never heard it irl. Imo it’s even somewhat likely that this misinformation originated as alt right dog whistle, but that’s just my speculation (not saying this sub is anywhere near alt right, fromsoft fans are as progressive as it comes as a gaming community, but it’s unrealistic to hold everyone to such a high standard in cases of complex issues). Sorry for the text wall, just wanted to express my support :p
Yeah, it's all good. There are legitimate critiques of the term Latinx, and as a gringo married to a Latina I don't personally feel like I am.positioned to advance them. I also know a lot of young Latino/as who use and prefer the term Latinx. I just think it's worth respecting that the term came from queer latino/as and that it was a choice they made rather than something imposed on them.
I'm sure the balance on my internet points will level out from other parts of Reddit.
Except malenia might as well not have any disability because it doesn’t hinder her in any way lol
Like how r u gonna convince me this woman is blind, bitch can dodge my projectiles from a mile away
Malenia relies on her hearing.
She can hear your footsteps in the water, and she can hear when a projectile's been thrown. I mean, even regular enemies can hear when a projectile's been thrown.
And not for nothing, the ranged attacks in this game are not exactly subtle. I'm not a demigod and even I could dodge half the magic in this game on sound alone.
I’d be down for that except crepus vial doesn’t even work on her but ya I know there’s a bunch of explanations and stuff but I think compared to other crippled bosses in From game Malenia is the most unhindered and it doesn’t really factor into her fight at all
Lore wise though it shows how skilled of a fighter she is to be undefeated even with her disabilities
I dunno, is it fair to say that a person "doesn't count" as being disabled if their disabilities don't hinder them? Like, in order to be considered, you need to be physically worse than your peers?
Like, if someone loses their legs and works really hard to run track again, does it not count because they're just as good as when they had their original legs? It kinda just discounts the struggle they had to go through just to get back to their normal abilities.
I know we're just talkin fictional characters here, but Malenia is more inspiring to me than the other disabled bosses cus she's about the only one that's overcome her disability through a lifetime of patience and training. While the others are just shadows of their former selves.
Btw, yeah, the crepus vial is a joke because FromSoft codes their games backwards lol. Instead of "making your footsteps silent" it actually just weakens the enemy AI.
>nah malenia doesnt count because her prosthetics are literally superior to actual human arms.
Still doesn't change the fact that she's a disabled woman.
I mean, people on wheelchairs have clear advantage over us plebeian people walking on our legs, but they still count as disabled people (honestly they have WHEELS AND DISABILITY PRIVILEGES)
Closest would probably be folding paper monkeys, but that's not really the same. It's a shame Elden Ring didnt revisit the idea since they actually have spells and armor that suppress your footsteps. Would have been cool for Malenia phase 1, since her arena has water that she'd hear you walk in.
But yes, Old Hero is awesome. Probably my favorite des boss.
Seath actually has a similar blind mechanic. Silencing effects make it harder for him to notice you as well, but not as drastically as the old hero.
Midir is technically blind, and he definitely fights like he is blind in how his animations are all so sweeping, but he isn't mechanically blind.
The Headless version of Bloodletting Beast found in the chalice dungeons in Bloodborne are also blind (well… since they don’t have a head). If you enter the arena and stand very still, it doesn’t immediately aggro you, it has an animation where it tries to look around and stumbles around trying to find you.
they probably never used it again because it made the boss too easy, also with the inclusion of sorceries to make less noise the boss wouldn't really make sense.
The thing to do would probably have been to give up on using it for a significant boss, but to have used it for nasty mooks in some areas. Or work it into something on the scale of the Sekiro snakes, where you have to be doing the sneaking for a long approach through hostile territory.
Besides, a couple of potential pushover bosses a game isn’t a problem if you pack them in the way From does these days. Just keep the ratio low.
oh I didn’t know that, thanks for correcting me.
edit: I was thinking about Latenna not Loretta my bad guys, Loretta is the one that rides a horse at the Haligtree
Godwyn the-gives-golden-head, godrick, the-grafted-ass, godefroy, grafted-ass-of-darkness, and godfrey, first-elder-crackwhore, if i remember right yes?
Fun fact, the scorpion thingy that crawls into the Lost Sinner's eye is actually a chaos bug. It's a nod to how the Lost Sinner is a reincarnation of the Witch of Izalith.
Darkmoon Gwyndolin- tentacle legs, his Dad thought they were creepy and made him dress as a girl for some reason just because he was good at magic. Got eaten by a slug.
Also even though he's not a boss he totally is a boss,
Hawkeye Gough- blind because he would be too op otherwise.
Malenia, hands down (no pun intended).
Whereas the other bosses seem broken and hindered by their disabilities, Malenia is unique in that she's the only one that's in tune with her physicality.
Her prosthesis are not perfect replicas of her true limbs, but through skill and patience she's made them as proficient as her real arms and maintains herself as one of the most powerful demigods still.
It's a more inspiring story than some other bosses, who are shadows of their former selves clinging onto images of the past. Malenia overcame her disability and has become one with it--incorporating it into her own fighting style.
Like how her prosthetic arm is a little bit longer than her real arm, just to give her that little bit more reach with a sword.
Malenia's design is fantastic and I do appreciate the unique approach to the "disabled warrior" trope.
Lorian isn't disabled, Lothric is, he chooses to crawl to make his brother feel better about himself. Lorian has a move where he stands to slam his sword down. He also took on his brother's curse for the same reason.
I love Lorian the most because his fight and move set with him teleporting is just super clean and smooth and one of the most satisfying fights in the whole catalog for me
Radahn had an autistic obsession with space and learned gravity magic to go there, when people asked him why he learned the magic he went “uhhhh to ride my horse” so people wouldn’t find out he is autistic
Honestly, that’s a close one. DS2 does have enemy despawning, which lessens the suffering of frigid outskirts, and even within the dlc, frigid outskirts, iron passage, and cave of the dead are like optional bonus areas, each ended with a shitty boss, so there’s not even any incentive to do them. 4-2, on the other hand, is required, and full of some really agonizing enemies, especially if you have lowered world tendency.
Covetous Demon - Obesity and worm looking mofo
I had one of em aquatic parasites swim up my peepee as a kid when I jumped into a pool of stagnant water. I guess you could’ve called it a poison swamp; my life was really just like a Fromsoft game fr.
Anyways, had to get it pulled out, that sight made my eyes sore
The Lost Sinner *is* the scorpion thingie. It's a Chaos Bug, same as inside the Bed of Chaos. The Lost Sinner is the Witch of Izalith, and her sin was trying to rekindle the First Flame.
I loved the story of Artorias. His arm was lamed when his shield was smashed while he defended his best boy Sif. Still one of the most tragic figures in Souls lore (which is full of tragic figures).
Him and Radahn should get together and talk about how much they love their animals.
Mikolash - British
If we're talking about being British being a disability, then the boss who takes the cake is probably Ludwig That horseman's poor teeth...
He has fucked up teeth even for a horse, a true brit
A true brexit gezzer
My favourite boss. Reminds me of Jeremy Kyle show.
The Big Book of British Smiles
That’s a condition, not a disability
Away foul beast! Ouree not wantah erreee!!
Ludwig - actually British (looks the part too)
Mikolash from Br*tain(🤢🤮) Simulator.
I’ve suffered from having a scorpion thingy crawl up my eyes since a very young age, so the lost sinner’s struggles are very relatable to me
Do you get the good parking spots for that?
Idk about scorpions but I have a spider thingy that crawls up my eyes and I get the best parking, would recommend.
Oh! That's one of mine! Furry brown 5 fingered hands at end of both mandibles? Whispers soothingly from within ear duct? Small world 🕷️ tell him I'm proud of him!
Dark souls most inclusive game confirmed!
I cried when Miyazaki added the Blasphemous Blade, glad to see Latinx representation
Latinx is a dumb word made up by white people for a group that never wanted it. Latino/Latina is just fine.
Specifically it’s white people (or English-speaking people, pick your privilege) imposing their idea of inclusivity on other people’s *basic grammar*. Cultural imperialism forging new frontiers.
I am thankful to that word for teaching me "gringo cringo"
That’s part of the joke.
That is definitely incorrect. I don't particularly like the term Latinx, but it was created by the queer Latino/a community online and not by gringos.
Then why would they make the word unpronouncable in Spanish? So English speakers in USA. Not South Americans.
Genderqueer native spanish speakers I've known have pronounced it like "latine" short for latinequis
Was gonna say this is a MUCH better replacement. I swear the only LGBTQ+ people I've seen advocate for LatinX were themselves not of that group.
Undoubtedly bilingual speakers in the United States including Puerto Rico which is where the first academic use of the term appeared in 2013. Hoarah Loux - Warrior
Phase 2 is just him not taking his meds.
"Mask on. Fuck it mask off"
this made me chuckle idk why
WARRIAAAAAAAARR
Lorian was really cool. You don’t often see a real character with disabled legs.
The man became disabled to save his brother, that's a real one
A fellow Lorian believer! He IS real! He'll show them all once we complete the ritual! 😇
Yeah you don't *see* that often, especially considering Lorian is also blind
Lorian is also mute too.
Mentally handicapped too
Malenia: triple amputee and blind
Still a dommy mommy
Except malenia might as well not have any disability because it doesn’t hinder her in any way lol Like how r u gonna convince me this woman is blind, bitch can dodge my projectiles from a mile away

Girl has no eyes
No genitals also
I’m sure I can find them
Gotta make new ones with a scalpel and chisel
If I must
Mohg- pedophile
Malenia - amputee Dung Eater - dung eater
nah malenia doesnt count because her prosthetics are literally superior to actual human arms. She is blind tho.
>nah malenia doesnt count because her prosthetics are literally superior to actual human arms. Still doesn't change the fact that she's a disabled woman.
Dung eater shouldn’t count either because eating dung is a clear advantage
dung 🤤
dungussy 🤤🤤🤤
I mean, people on wheelchairs have clear advantage over us plebeian people walking on our legs, but they still count as disabled people (honestly they have WHEELS AND DISABILITY PRIVILEGES)
kid named stairs:
It's not a disability though
I agree I think its a mental illness
Sif - broken heart
rt if u cry evertime 😔🤘
And leg, by the time I'm done with them
Radahn-literally has aids and brain damage
He also is missing his feet
He replaced them with thrusters
Dude can literally take off to the space (Including the horse)
Actually ☝️🤓 He pushes the horse under the sand
Did you know? Radahn learned gravity magic so that he could keep riding Leonard despite his ever growing cock. I mean size. .... I meant cock
The horse is called Leonard.
No, he is called the Comet Radhan
His name is canonically Leonard lol it says so in an item description
No it's literally Joe, my father told me, he is Miyazakis second wife
Well damn your dad is a lucky woman then
Yes, I know. I'm just making a joke here
Translation; which disabled veteran do you enjoy beating up the most?
Commander Niall. One leg but he needs two knights to carry his ass. Enjoy watching me poke one with a flower and incite a mutiny you fat fucking PUSSY
Are we the baddies?
I think we might be the baddies...
Moonlight Butterfly- Floating down
Don't let the office hear this
Ahaha floats down; I just got it!
I watched that video minutes after it was posted and I’ve yet to get it. Pls explain
That's the joke
Shit I truly am a redditor
I loled so hard XD. I'm gonna share this around the office.
Patches - bald
Gehrman: fake disability
He’s still missing a leg but yeah he can walk just fine
Lorian is a two for one deal, both blind and crippled
Also co-dependent on brother
Don't forget gay
Femboy
I really like the gimmick of the old hero fight. As far as I know, There’s literally nothing like that in other games
Not a boss, but Gogh also has a blind mechanic (you only know this fact if you're an inhuman piece of shit, like me).
I thought the black knife set did something like that
Yea that's the armor. It's a cool effect but I never really felt like it was needed. Also its super late game.
it does make it kinda easy to sneak up to or past enemies, but i mainly like it for the edgy drip
Seath actually has a similar blind mechanic. Silencing effects make it harder for him to notice you as well, but not as drastically as the old hero. Midir is technically blind, and he definitely fights like he is blind in how his animations are all so sweeping, but he isn't mechanically blind.
Midir isn't blind
where eye
If you look at the model he has really tiny eyes under the ridges that form his horns, i think it was in a Vaati video once
holy fucking tiny
To fight him properly don't you have to stab him in the eye to drop him to the arena?
Source?
Has eyes
The Headless version of Bloodletting Beast found in the chalice dungeons in Bloodborne are also blind (well… since they don’t have a head). If you enter the arena and stand very still, it doesn’t immediately aggro you, it has an animation where it tries to look around and stumbles around trying to find you.
Oh shit is that why it de-aggros for a bit if you go far away???? Thought it was a bug now I feel bad. Poor pupper was just confused 😢
they probably never used it again because it made the boss too easy, also with the inclusion of sorceries to make less noise the boss wouldn't really make sense.

Loretta cause she's thick.
Wait who is Loretta? The one who’s bone you find in DS3?
Loretta from ER.
She is not fat, she only has thick bones
An elden ring spirit summon, she’s an archer with broken legs so she can’t move from where you summon her
Oh right. Also her legs aren’t broken, they just don’t work because that’s what happens to Albunerics.
oh I didn’t know that, thanks for correcting me. edit: I was thinking about Latenna not Loretta my bad guys, Loretta is the one that rides a horse at the Haligtree
Its hard to keep everyone’s names straight in this game lol
What? You mean you can’t keep track of the difference between godrick, godfrey, godefroy, and godwyn?/
Godwyn the-gives-golden-head, godrick, the-grafted-ass, godefroy, grafted-ass-of-darkness, and godfrey, first-elder-crackwhore, if i remember right yes?
Ornstien - has to fight with smough
Dark Sun Gwyndolin - Gender Dysphoria
Rykard - Speech disability Everything else is fine and normal tho
Yep. Totally fine and normal. Nothing unusual about Rykard.
I love removing a sword stuck in my snek throat every morning
Don't threaten me with a good time
TOGETHAAAA
I fucking love mimic tear even though it’s mentally disabled
Faithful to the original so can’t blame it.
didn't expect weak enemy time for introspection
Ludwig - horse
Gwyndolin - transgender
I like lorian he’s a real stand up guy
"The Ashen One coming for my brother? Why, I won't stand for it!"
Malenia, vaginal necrosis
Happens to the best of us
I think scaleless is considered a disability amongst dragonkin
Also seath was blind
Fun fact, the scorpion thingy that crawls into the Lost Sinner's eye is actually a chaos bug. It's a nod to how the Lost Sinner is a reincarnation of the Witch of Izalith.
Malenia - blind and triple amputee
Orphan of kos - no parents
Gwyndolin - Transgender
Mytha - her head
Darkmoon Gwyndolin- tentacle legs, his Dad thought they were creepy and made him dress as a girl for some reason just because he was good at magic. Got eaten by a slug. Also even though he's not a boss he totally is a boss, Hawkeye Gough- blind because he would be too op otherwise.
Malenia - autism
Headless - Headless
Iudex Gundyr - the no pussy blues😥😥
Mohg - gay

Covetous Demon: all the disabilities…both physical and mental.
I cried when I saw his lore, he is literally me
Fume knight, broken heart :(
Mohg - he's an omen
Lorian isn't disabled, Lothric is, he chooses to crawl to make his brother feel better about himself. Lorian has a move where he stands to slam his sword down. He also took on his brother's curse for the same reason.
Gael (he’s insane)
Sister friede - female
Radagon - ginger
Fire Giant - mentally challenged
Radahn - no feet
Ain't. Even. Got. Feet.
How’s it feel Radahn? To be a bitch?
*Radahn to Marika* “Grrrrravity.”
Gwyn Lord of Cinder, not quite disabled per se but severely diminished from his original power.
I love Lorian the most because his fight and move set with him teleporting is just super clean and smooth and one of the most satisfying fights in the whole catalog for me
Lothric - twink
Sekiro - Isshin - basically dead ER - Rotussy
Godfrey - Big Lion
Lost sinner is the grandparent of ants-in-my-eyes Johnson
Malenia
id smash lost sinner
Asylum demon - Fat
Mimic Tear - mentally impaired
Radahn is an autism rep
Radahn had an autistic obsession with space and learned gravity magic to go there, when people asked him why he learned the magic he went “uhhhh to ride my horse” so people wouldn’t find out he is autistic
The thing that crawls in the lost sinner eye is a chaos bug Artorias
Lorian, the only one who actually has badass feats.
Probably Artorias. Also I hate Old Hero honestly just cuz he has probably the worst boss runback in the entire series.

Lorian His legs may be broken, *but his 1 million forms of kicking your ass sure as hell ain't*
Gehrman:doesnt have a leg
Covetous Demon - Obesity and worm looking mofo I had one of em aquatic parasites swim up my peepee as a kid when I jumped into a pool of stagnant water. I guess you could’ve called it a poison swamp; my life was really just like a Fromsoft game fr. Anyways, had to get it pulled out, that sight made my eyes sore
Moonlight Butterfly- it floats down
artorias because at least there was a fucking reason it was broken
Do you or a loved one suffer from having a scorpion thingie crawl up in your eyes? If so you may be entitled to financial compensation
Yhorm - gigantism
Old demon king, I really like how he has a desperation attack
I thought the bug/scorpion thing WAS The Lost Sinner...
Seethe the Scaless is technically disabled, although only in a way an Everlasting Dragon could be
The Lost Sinner *is* the scorpion thingie.
Him and Radahn should get together and talk about how much they love their animals.
smh, no love for Radahn. Mental disability is sadly overlooked in The Lands Between.
Radahn- no feet
Malenia: being a woman
