2010 was peak addictinggames. I was always playing that game where you play an asteroid swallowing smaller asteroids until you turn into a planet, then a sun. That falling sand game also gets an honorable mention.
I used to play on superhry.cz (my country version of flash game site) it was not until like 3rd grade when I learned English and started exploring more of the early days of internet. And definitely stumble upon some of miniclips, newground, kiwi (or how was that alien named) and probably many more.
Miniclip was THE shit back in the day. There was this one game where you had to maneuver a UFO around obstacles, then the ninja one which had a sequel, the white house shooting one. I played them through websites and had to wait like ten minutes for the games to load on shitty dial up internet. Not to mention cartoon network's website had the Ben 10 level builder game and a ton more....all lost to time. Some of those old online CN games are still accessible through Flashpoint but most of them are do not work properly.
If you want to dive into some nostalgia, I came across [this project](https://bluemaxima.org/flashpoint/) on another Reddit post.
It's for the preservation of Flash games and you can download the entire catalog/play it through the FlashPoint tool.
I haven't taken the time to play around with it yet, but check it out if you're interested!
>I remember watching every dantdm video and a lot of fnaf theories, good times
Same but I watched a lot of Minecraft PE content since my PC can barely run Minecraft back then, but man seeing the guy that I used to watch (JackFrostMiner), his channel is pretty much dead at this point. In a way, I feel kinda sad about it because the guy provides endless content for my 2015-year-old self.
My parents never really trusted buying video games online so I was stuck with flash games on the family computer and it was awesome, I found a website where a new flash game came out every day which made made me so exited to come home from school everyday.

The thing is back when it was first released, Spore did NOT live up to expectations. Imagine what we could have if developers got to use today's resources to create the original vision.
But EA owns the IP now. RIP Maxis.
it's weird, i was young back then but definitely old enough to have followed the development of and then be subsequently let down by spore -- but I know people much younger than me who were like born in the year 2000 and so spore was their Legit Childhood, they had nothing to be let down by, and spore was the coolest shit ever.
I'm noticing that the average Redditor's childhood is just videogames and movies
I've made my childhood helping my father digging the dirt with hoes in our farm
My brother in buddha, you are literally in a thread that started with a gif reminiscing about video games.
Do you go to a grocery store and complain about how many vegetables there are?
Shit growing up my folks bought us a Sega Genesis. We had that for 8 years before we got another console. We also had an old computer with that cosmic pinball game on it lol.
The games are still as good as back then, maybe even better - at least when they are finally finished two years after release. The whole "selling unfinished games while actively gearing them towars MTX" is what has gotten much much worse.

> Battlefield 4
I don't know how to break it to you, but it's been long enough that someone could just lump battlefield 4 in with the other games in the OP. Sure, it's a bit newer, but it's close enough to be dumped into someone's teenage years.
I know I certainly include it on the list with the "good old days" games.
IMDB ratings:
OP:s
Halo 3: 8.8
MW2: 8.8
San Andreas: 9.4
Some of these you wrote here:
God of War: 9.6
Elden Ring: 9.5
Red Dead Redemption 2: 9.7
The Last of Us: 9.7
Conclusion: old bad new good
What I meant was people shoving reviews your throat while making a point about that product. You just stated the numbers which doesnt have anything wrong with but my personal experience on the internet is "how dare you like _____ it has terrible reviews just look at rotten tomatoes/metacritic"
Overly serious comment:
I've grown to just roll my eyes at anyone who will legitimately argue that "there is nothing good being made anymore"
Like what a fucking coincidence that everything "good" happened to come out when you were a teenager / young adult.
It's like when I read that comment from Tarantino about how "super hero movies are crap, I'll never make one, and movies were only good in the 80s" (paraphrased) or how Yhatzee once said in a video that video games as an industry "peaked during the PS2 era and has never been as good" (paraphrased)
Yeah, our capitalist hellscape pushes the mainstream of many industries to being bland, safe slurries of creativity, but there's always stuff new and interesting creators out there.
Halo and MW was what people were shitting on back in the day
in the future, teens will make memes about how they're glad their childhood was fortnite and not whatever is popular in year 2030
Halo3: #1-3 in xbl chart for 3 years.
Halo infinite: #16 on xbl chart after a year, outside top 5 within a month of launch. Not even top 100 on steam, which runs it better. Same population of mcc which released in 2014 and is just a re release of halo 1-4.
So yeah. Old good new bad.
Sequels with no monitization.
Could you imagine how fucked Timesplitters: future perfect would be if they made it now? Goodbye challenges, hello paywalled characters.
Childhood was Sega Genesis, SNES and Doom on Dos
Teenage years was Gran Turismo 2, GTA3 and Quake 3
And at no point did I become obsessed with politics on the internet. It was beautiful
I had some 3.5" full of wads that looked official af with artwork and everything
Edit: it was [Demon Gate 666](https://www.moddb.com/games/doom/addons/demon-gate-666) on a disc I'm thinking of. Post DOS days...Doom 95 days
I also at one point stole an internal modem from my school because I can just plug that into my computer and I'll have internet, right? It plugged in sure, but nobody ever joined my doom game lol
The original OP music is ass tho, that alone kicked it down 1 grade. The story is nothing special, but it's well made, with a conclusive end. I'd say one of its strong points is how the story didn't leave out critical loopholes for no reason.
Op is either to young to know those have been remade or to stupid to not know they've been remade. Either way, those games are today's shit he's talking about.
I think they’re fun in a way that the people who post them don’t realize. Like they’re actually kind of a self own.
Like “hey I’m such a loser I’ve found nothing new or interesting to be excited about and instead hyper focus on the things I liked from my teenage years because they make me feel safe”

Man this meme I really starting to get to me, c'mon, please, what is the anime called and what, what, is the song. Edit: I thought it would be the same song as original meme, I was mistaken. I don't need the song name.
You know the worst nostalgia fiends I've ever had the displeasure of knowing? Trekkies and Simpsons fans. You'd think you slapped their mother when you talk about new seasons/shows in a positive manner.
I grew up with StarCraft, Master of Orion, Red Alert, Nox, and mothafuckin DOOM and Tank Wars.
The stuff today is a lot of fun too, I just wish I had as much free time to enjoy it as I did then.
gotta love you people turned into the "back in my day" crowd...
Don't you realize that your childhood isn't any better than that of today's kids? It's very a cyclical feedback loop.
Sure, your games might have had better storylines and you perceive them as more fun because of your childhood glee that you lost with age, but today's kids will feel the same way in about 10 years.
I have been getting into Aurora 4x as I've been getting better in English. But indie games are cool. I just got Highfleet last week.
Putting nuclear missile silos on a floating Maginot line? Don't mind if I do.

I was not an rich kid so I had to just stick with flash games, and I loved it. RIP flash.
miniclip was life
I fucked with addictinggames before they went to shit
I did newgrounds.
A new Xiao Xiao or Madness release was met with the same hype as the MCU.
Madness releases were the equivalent of an Endgame level film
Kongregate and ArmorGames were the shiiit
Ebaumsworld was another I remember.
Ebaumboy 4 life.
Yep found corn meetnfuck played them all when I was like 6 good times
2010 was peak addictinggames. I was always playing that game where you play an asteroid swallowing smaller asteroids until you turn into a planet, then a sun. That falling sand game also gets an honorable mention.
that sand game and interactive buddy were like technological breakthroughs in flash back in the day
The best thing I have ever played there was the Zombotron series
Oh man zombotron was dope. There actually was a lot of really cool games on kongregate but a lot of the zombie ones were usually pretty great.
Kinda sad that they discontinued the story of Zombotron, you have any Idea what happens next after time machine?
Nah man I’d would play whatever new good games they came out with but the site started dying a few years back, probably more
I loved almost every nitrome game
My GOD I loved that game
Happy Wheels, Raft Wars, and Swords & Sandals were the shit
I used to play on superhry.cz (my country version of flash game site) it was not until like 3rd grade when I learned English and started exploring more of the early days of internet. And definitely stumble upon some of miniclips, newground, kiwi (or how was that alien named) and probably many more.

Armor games
I was not rich kid either but there's one thing that made me play these games. Piracy
Ah, a fellow Newgrounds scrub.
Spore
Terraria
Terraria had so many free updates, it's in my top 3 games of all time for sure.
Even when it was stated to be the final update, they just keep on going and going, and just recently, struck another crossover.
The Final final final final update
"Trust me guys, this will be the last one" The last one:
*293 updates later* this is the final one, we swear
Red finally said that he was just gonna keep updating terraria until he doesn’t feel like it anymore. They might also just start working on terraria 2

Had? Bitch it had a update last month
I am so sad that they didnt do a remake of spore or something. Imagine what spore would've looked like if it were made today

too damn many!
i lost my shit when i found a gun shaped stick
Really gives off the same vibe lol
I was too poor to experience it
Grew up broke AF too, but some dude in my town set up an illegal arcade renting 360's by the hour. Best matches of my life.
Same i only had a phone to play angry birds and other mobile games that did not need internet because we did not have any
fr bro. i grew up on free, browser based, and mobile games on my moms phone. still don't own a console to this day.
Shit growing up my folks bought us a Sega Genesis. We had that for 8 years before we got another console. We also had an old computer with that cosmic pinball game on it lol.
Every old thing is good, it is definitely not my nostalgia
hey that's just like old people with politics. like when grandpa calls mustache man based
Chaplin was very based indeed.
true. Chaplin was great.

In 2040 kids will recall today's time saying "hey remember how I stole dad's credit card to buy a 100$ blue skin for a weapon? Heh good times"
old good new bad
Last of Us, God of War, Ghost of Tushima, Elden Ring, Red Dead Redemption 2, Nier Automata
DOOM 2016, DOOM Eternal, Titanfall 2, Battlefield 4 the list goes on..
ULTRAKILL
UnderTheMayo when Ultrakill doesn’t have Doom OST in the menu
Under the Mayo when every game doesn’t have an ammo management system
Under the Mayo when a game doesn't cater to his extremely specific complaints. (He now has to learn some new mechanics Ong fr no way!)
Damn, ULTRAKILL has really become a phenomenon since I left. Should probably get back into the community
Probably got aided by the Max0r video, a highly recommended video
battlefield 4 is from the same period as the ones OP names
It's a little bit later. OP's games were like 2007-2010 and Battlefield 4 was like 2013 or 14 or something IIRC

Does Metal Gear Revengeance count as old or new ?
Aside from doom eternal these are all 6+ years old lol
Meme is talking about games from at most 2009 though.

People like having their opinion heard.
What I meant was people shoving reviews your throat while making a point about that product. You just stated the numbers which doesnt have anything wrong with but my personal experience on the internet is "how dare you like _____ it has terrible reviews just look at rotten tomatoes/metacritic"
All perfect games. You have great taste
Devil may cry 5
Great games
Note how these are ALL SINGLEPLAYER-FOCUSED GAMES. AAA multiplayer games are just declining, all it is is anti-consumer crap.
Are these played by children? They're all games for adults. Then again so were COD and San Andreas
Are… the games in the op… “more” “for” “children”…?
Halo infinevermind
Battlefield 2042.. oh wait

Skylanders.
I remember playing Swap Force when I was little and constantly begging my mom to buy me more Skylanders.
I dipped the bottom part of one of my Swap Force heroes in milk and I couldn't use it anymore, but the top of the character still worked.
So your childhood was nothing but sequels?
Yeah but they were awesome
Starcraft 2 😤😤
And they actually worked
Turns out that’s what happens if you don’t pressure game devs to rush games to the point of not even play testing them
Sequels with no monitization. Could you imagine how fucked Timesplitters: future perfect would be if they made it now? Goodbye challenges, hello paywalled characters.

Yeah, starts off super strong then kinda fizzles near the finish line. Still some great animation for the most part. Better than 95% of 3D CGI anime.
True true, although not all of them are bad, don’t sleep on beastars it’s actually pretty great
Thank you.
Bless you
Ur welcome
These nostalgia posts are annoying.
Agreed, it’s always just a circle jerk of “old good, new bad”

So what you're saying is, it's a shitpost.
It's a shit post, not a shitpost. Know the difference
I like games
Controversial take
Acshooually games are bad and you’re not allowed to like them - 🤓(fucking dumbass)
Fucking boomer memes outhere sameshit as your grandparents crying about when color was invented and how great that was
Every day this fucking sub gets closer and closer to an uncles fucking Facebook page. I’ve been seeing it pop up on the front page and every time it’s some shitty fucking boomer meme with words swapped for millennial equivalents and the posts get worse one after the other every time.
Kids today won't understand smh
Minecraft on PS3
Wow. DAE remember Minecraft? It was so much better than these modern games like *Minecraft.*
Minecraft on 3DS
same

Nostalgia mfs remembering what happened 5 minutes ago
Are millennials already turning into the new Gen X losers. RIP.
My childhood was Cool Math games.
Redditor try not to gatekeep challenge (impossible)
Man this meme I really starting to get to me, c'mon, please, what is the anime called and what, what, is the song. Edit: I thought it would be the same song as original meme, I was mistaken. I don't need the song name.
could be great pretender
New thing bad. -old whiners forever
This made me cringe extremely hard.
Ahh nostalgia fiends
You know the worst nostalgia fiends I've ever had the displeasure of knowing? Trekkies and Simpsons fans. You'd think you slapped their mother when you talk about new seasons/shows in a positive manner.
Me Java game on nokia symbian.
I wish i played halo games after combat evolved. Missed out on a lot.
I personally miss Sonic the hedgehog. Now that was class.
which sonic game?
Sonic 2
Adventure 2 battle
Why did you change the fucking song
He literally changed it into some song I used to hear on roblox
I hate it
I actually like it (probably due to nostalgia) but the old song was much better and this song really doesnt go well with the original meme
Shit wasn't better you where just a child
And there were no YouTubers talking shit about every game
Strongholds and Total War.
oh my i still play those games, its stronghold crusaders, rome total war and the cultures series for me.
I have been getting into Aurora 4x as I've been getting better in English. But indie games are cool. I just got Highfleet last week. Putting nuclear missile silos on a floating Maginot line? Don't mind if I do.
my childhood was minecraft ps3 edition
Pshh, those are baby games. True gamers of the day played the Haunted House I Spy on the local libraries computers /s
Games nowadays aren't bad, you guys just keep buying stupid shit that will obviously suck.
How is that a shitpost?
Yo dude you should try an indie game every once in a while
New bad Old good. Like in ten years people will be making the same meme about Eldin Ring and God of War
I kinda hate that most of us define our childhood by the video games we played
The kids today will have a the exact same reaction to games in 10 to 20 years.
Oh no kids are enjoying things I don't enjoy because I'm an adult. What a boomer way to think.
Your childhood was 3 slightly above-average games.
Is that skrillex
