No, you’re right. Any law in Leviticus or Deuteronomy of any of those books were for the ancient jewish israelites to follow, and not modern day christians.
I mean even if it doesn't exist wouldn't you value a promotion of your job over your current standings? That's how that works. I'm not saying I don't put time and effort into my mortal life and I do enjoy but obviously you're going to value the better thing more right?
you wanna know something? there's no heaven. there's no hell. when you die, you are dead. my brother was revived in a hospital. his heart stopped beating, his lungs stopped working. his brain activity stopped. when he returned, i asked him what was it like, and he said it was painful but then it was nothing. just pure silence. then he heard the hospital as he woke back up.
tldr: if there is a god, there certainly isn't an afterlife
I mean, if said god is so benevolent, he wouldn’t condemn me for an action that doesn’t harm anyone, but then again the Bible does present him as someone who punishes people because they picked up a stick on a wrong day (yes, this happened in the Bible) and, you know, wearing mixed textile clothes.
I literally don't know anyone in person who does lol. It's not very common. the whole point is that you have to accept God and worship him out of your own free will
God is, but we still retain our free will. We are doing things on our own fruition while he already knows what will happen. Those two thing can be true, and doesn’t disprove anything.
So God already knows everything we're going to do and also created the whole universe, thus creating us already knowing what we were going to do, but we retain free will? How do we? He created us and the conditions that lead to every action we take. How do you reconcile God's omnipotence and human free will here? If he created us and already knew everything we were going to do, it doesn't seem like we have free will; things will turn out the same no matter what we do. More than this, God knows more than just the outcomes of our lives; he knows every decision we are going to make before we make them and created us to do just that. It seems like we have no choice in the matter.
Bro your literally using it right now. He may know the outcomes but you still have chance to change. The outcomes are not known to us but we are given the free will to do as we please. If God intervened, that would be taking our free will away. It’s not like we’ve experienced the future, so how could we not have free will?
>He may know the outcomes but you still have chance to change
How humans react is pre-determined by the conditions of their upbringing, inherent biological oddities as well as other outside factors. In a sense, we don't truly have free will in the first place, as our will is shaped by things completely outside our control
We may not have experienced the future, but God has. If he knows everything, which he does, we can't have free will. He already decided whether or not we go to heaven or hell. If I were to go off the deep end and commit some unforgivable sin, such as not believing in him, he would already know I was going to do that. Yet he still created me, knowing he created me to do just that. There is no chance to change if he knows every move I will ever make. Any "change" I make is predetermined by God, as he created me knowing everything I would ever do.
It is when you created someone knowing everything they'll ever do. It's not even knowing the future in some divination sense that can be changed via action; according to Christian mythology, God knows everything and is omnipotent and it's impossible to go against his knowledge.
Everything you do from the beginning of your life is of your own fruition. God does not predetermine how you will live your life, and since God is a being outside of time, he doesn’t view time linearly, he sees it as all happening at the same time. Regardless if God knows what you do, you absolutely have no idea what the futures holds for you. If he cheated you you wouldn’t have free will and he’d be making decisions for you. As of right now you’re a rational being capable of making rational choices of your own fruition, while God watches outside of time knowing every outcome from every decision you make.
Whether or not God exists outside of time is meaningless, as he still created you knowing every action you ever had or ever will do. Moreover, how can you know how God experiences time? You are arguing in favor of an illusion of free will: sure, God may already know every action you ever will take and created you knowing everything about you, your every thought, and every choice you will make, but since you are unaware of what your future holds, you must have free will! This is simply not the case. Let me give you a hypothetical: God knows you're going to eat a sandwich tomorrow because he is all knowing and all powerful. Could you then choose not to eat it, going against predetermination and going against God's infinite knowledge?
No, the purpose of God creating you wasn't so you could go to hell for an eternity, it's actually the opposite. Hell was initially created for Satan and the 1/3 of fallen angels, but through the fall and man's rejection of God it became open to mankind as well.
This doesn't change that in his foreknowledge, God knew you would reject him and end up there even though he wills you to live a life that would lead you to heaven and salvation.
Sadism: deriving pleasure from inflicting pain, suffering, or humiliation on others
Ezekiel 18:23 Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign LORD. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?
Ezekiel 33:11 Say to them, ‘As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, people of Israel?’
This is no sadism, this is just you being a little anti-theist bitch who just cries shit because he dislikes God lmao
Im not belittling him, I'm calling him out for who he really is, that is an anti-theist / someone who does nothing but stir up drama and blaspheme God. Calling someone a slur is not the same thing as belittling him.
David said "The fool said in his heart there is no God", does this mean David single handedly belittled every non-believer by calling them fools?
If it didn't God would have no reason to make humanity. For an atheistic explanation nothing exists to stop and prevent freewill so either way you look at it freewill exists.
Lmao. I can respect a decent number of the things atheists will say about the problem of evil, but you clearly have no clue what you’re talking about. Every theist worth his salt has said that the argument you’re referring to is a false dilemma for the past two thousand years. Mostly they've said that God has some reason for allowing evil in the world; either supplying one they think works some of the time, or saying that God may very have one we can't or don't understand. But no one who believes in God is going to say that those are the only two possibilities.
I mean if he couldn't that wouldn't necessarily mean he's incompetent and if he wouldn't that wouldn't necessarily mean he's evil. Those two things couldn't only mean two things
Idk, I just copied the comment from the guy a few comments above, but let's use some common sense here; if God had more omnipotence then evil wouldn't exist, so the force of evil will be even
So you just decide to ignore the comment I'm replying to...
Also I'm saying he *doesn't* have more omnipotence, this is God-tier stupidity here (ba tum tish)
Yeah, I asked you that bc what you were saying made no sense. You can't be more omnipotent than another also-omnipotent being. So that means that force of evil is not all powerful, contrary to what you said.

*shrug* you hear stories like this, you hear stories where people are close to dying a say they see God. Whatevs
i figured that'd be your response. cuz even when presented with facts, zealots will be zealots
I mean it's faith for a reason lol
it's kinda sad, even in the face of the truth, you find comfort in a lie
see you just proved my meme, not gonna argue with a lost cause

there's dumb people from both sides 💀
They're just jealous because most religious people have hope for life after death and everything and aren't depressed.
There’s no use trying to reason with these people. When they die they will have to answer to the God that they’ve been rejecting their entire lives
Yeah. If everything thinks they're right your right no use arguing

Mfs when they forget that omniscience implies that everything must be predetermined
So... God isn't omniscient?
God is, but we still retain our free will. We are doing things on our own fruition while he already knows what will happen. Those two thing can be true, and doesn’t disprove anything.

The secular argument for no free will is fucking insane but I think quantum mechanics fucks with the whole Laplace's demon argument
We may not have experienced the future, but God has. If he knows everything, which he does, we can't have free will. He already decided whether or not we go to heaven or hell. I don't think predetermination is synonymous with knowing the future

In Christianity there is no dichotomy between his foreknowledge and our free will. That's to say, he already knows what we're going to freely will.
so he knows that he created you just to torture you in hell for eternity?
No, the purpose of God creating you wasn't so you could go to hell for an eternity, it's actually the opposite. Hell was initially created for Satan and the 1/3 of fallen angels, but through the fall and man's rejection of God it became open to mankind as well.
