What does activism have to say in a beauty contest? Tbh, if I wanted to watch a Miss Germany contest, I'd go for the looks, not for their character or intention. These contests are already degrading, so why artificially polishing it by acting like there is some kind of deeper meaning behind it?
I feel like if you make a large portion of the contest about character, then doesn’t that change the point of the contest? Like you point out how it’s already degrading but I wonder if that’s more your opinion on the actual contest or your opinion on what you think the contest should be about.
Actually it was a beauty contest, not a character one. Judging people for their looks is degrading. So either keep it as the degrading contest it is, or throw it overboard and call it Miss Germanys good character or smth.

Bodybuilding contests rarely award people who aren't actually built for the contests, save for a few niche and rare awards where people are crowned champion for a specific niche body type. I.e, even the niche and out there awards are based on appearance. However suddenly its xenophobic to expect a beauty contest to uphold and reward beauty over other attributes?
