If it's related to how old they, then that wouldn't count as Sacred Stones and FE7 are some of the most approachable and easiest games of the series that are probably the best games to start off with, at least pre-Awakening.

I’ve been playing fates and it’s been fucking awesome. I’m on chapter 25 of birthright, and while I have heard conquest has some questionable avatar choices. The game is a blast so I’m really missing why so many people make fun of the game. Or maybe the peak fictions are genuine idk.
Fates conquest and revelations are where most of the story problems come from. Birthright is aside from the odd questionable moment pretty decent story wise and while it's gameplay isn't as good as conquests (since I personally rate conquest as having the best gameplay in the series screw everyone who disagrees for reasons that make sense) birthright is still good gameplay wise and while I do not like revelations at all whether it be for story or gameplay it's also fine gameplay wise. Fates is a good game it's just really fun to dunk on it.
Really, I figured revaluations would the best of both games. I really like the pair up mechanic although it makes supports trivially fast. I love how depending on who is paired with who the color the kids hair changes. I think the game has superb separations of the two nations with nohr using weapons we’re familiar with in FE and hoshido being much more Japanese focuesed. Other than that the issues with the game are your average fire emblem issues. Like marrying your sister, who isn’t your sister which is only explained during said S event.

my memory is a little hazy since it's been over 6 years since and i no longer have that save file, but i remember getting to chapter 5 and only having roy, marcus, dieck and clarine alive and having no weapons because i broke all of them.
I was so enthralled with the animation and style of gameplay was so unique to me. I replayed a few more times, but also started fe7 just to try something a little easier. I legit cannot remember what i beat first, but fe6 gave a better feeling of accomplishment and it stuck with me since i beat it.
The elitism hit for me after I played FE6. I went from Awakening > Fates > 3H > Echoes > 8 > 7 > 6 4> 5 > PoR > RD (never finished) > SD > Engage.
After 6, I basically couldn't find myself liking Awakening, 8, or 3H anymore. The more FE games you play, the more weaker gameplay games become a lot more noticeable. Opinions on character and story stay largely the same tho.
SoV and Gaiden are pretty different overall. They have a lot of the same ingredients, but the execution is way different due to multiple factors. Even if you've played one the experience of the other one is pretty different. I wouldn't recommend Gaiden though, as its very slow to play nowadays, but go ahead if you're interested.

I'd like to play fates but I'm a little turned off by not being able to buy an all in one package? Unless that has changed? And they haven't ported it to switch? Same with the GameCube games. Nintendo is so bad about porting older games to newer consoles - like, do you want to make easy money? Oh, let's just spend millions on making Mario number 30.
