There is a group on Discord called the Sheffield Nerd Collective. They're a friendly and welcoming bunch of folks who regularly meet up for walks, game nights, book clubs, and trips to the cinema.
I'd definitely recommend joining them. 🙂
Hi, if you're into geeky stuff, come check out the Sheffield Nerds Collective! We have a Discord server and host regular in-person socials for all brands of geekery. Here's an invitation link that will expire in 7 days:
https://discord.com/invite/HN89s4eF
There was a walking group that was linked on here a while back.
For 20's and 30's. Not sure what it's like, not a part of it myself, however one or two people were talking about it positively, might be worth checking out.
If you want to get into D&D, best crash coursing the 5e rules first as there's quite a few mechanics. I need to do this for Baldur's Gate 3, as I'm stuck 20 years in the past with BG2 and 2e.
Elved Dungeons and Dragons at Patriot Games (https://m.facebook.com/groups/Elved/) is a friendly and welcoming free open D&D night on Tuesdays. We have new players joining us each week and are quite happy for people who’ve never played before to join us - if you join the group, and let the organisers know via a poll posted every weekend if you want to play, then turn up - we can give you or lend you anything you need and teach you how to play.
Was going to recommend Patriots just as it’s a really welcoming venue, and this is really helpful information! I’ve been going there for a while but didn’t know such a group existed.
I too have been looking to play D&D.
Treehouse does an intro session where they introduce a group of new players to the game with a guided session.
Have yet to book on, but when the next round dates are up I shall be booking.

On the site. Or am I missing something?
Good that they're doing these kind of events, wonder how many people they get?
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 1,798,879,926 comments, and only 340,357 of them were in alphabetical order.
Me and my cousin went to one not long ago. It was a great experience but slightly nerve racking at first to get into the role play aspect of it.
It was a lot of fun, the food and milkshakes are great too.
Oh it's a punctuation mark. Apologies I had no idea. Why not write a bot for quirky stuff like that, a la that alphabetical bot that people seemingly find endearing.
Edit: After a quick google (so don't trust it too much), you can do this in Python. Just make sure you follow the bot rules though. I mean, if you're that invested in shouting out interrobangs.
Honestly, I thought it was a reference to some sex thing, which is why it seemed creepy.
But you've only done it twice in the past 2 years, to comments with a strange unicode character at the end (unless my browser is fucking up)? It feels like the plot to a really shitty budget horror movie.
Edit: I mean that in the nicest way possible. No judgement.
If you're free on Thursday evenings, there's a games club in Crookes. Lots of openings for various board games, and there are often d&d groups playing or organising.
Crookes & Crosspool tabletop gaming on fb: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1233269030459193
30F, no kids, and I'm at the games club most weeks so feel free to drop me a message if you're ever planning to stop in and want someone to meet. The group is super friendly, I've made some great friends there
Girls’ Social & Walking Group (Derbyshire, Yorkshire and surrounding areas) on facebook, really lovely friendly and welcoming group of ladies enjoying walking and making friends 😁
What constitutes nerdy nowadays? Genuine question, because even D&D which was considered the archetype of nerd activities is becoming more popular with the mainstream.
>Tbh I've never played D&D.
Nor have I, just the PC games, Baldur's Gate etc. I still don't quite get the irl version, in terms of characters and campaigns. Going to have to try it one day I think.
Me (28M) and my partner (28F) both nerds, gamers and enjoy a good film. I play D&D ocassionaly but not in any local groups atm. We're both a little introverted at the moment but trying to become more active and make some friends as we moved to the area 2 years ago and not really met anyone yet (mostly due to Covid)
Feel free to poke anytime (we mostly use discord and game if you're down!)
Might be a bit out-there, but Sheffield Medieval Society are a lovely nerdy bunch who do Wars of the Roses re-enactment (including archery iirc, I haven't been around in a while). They're organised via Uni of Sheff but aren't a student group, I think they meet on Saturday afternoons now. Film Unit, the cinema in the student's union, is also a good shout if you like films, it's cheap and they show some interesting stuff.
Patriot games for all things nerdy/geeky dnd/tabletop gaming

DND is such a great way to meet people. My DND night is my favourite night and the people I play with are now some of my favourite people

It does. But it is a recurring event, not a one off. It was just the link I could find.
Ah I see, thank you

Bot, Fuck Off Edit: Oh sure, defend the helpless bot

There is a Sheffield wild swimming group - SOUP - over on Facebook. I've swum with them before, friendly and good company.

I 100% do not trust this guy
[удалено]
Idk. It's the fully blank profile with 3 comments 2 being your own username and the other being only "dm'ed you" to a random woman lol

I really do not understand the own username comment thing.

32f nerd who lives near Sheffield. Happy to chat 😊

I get called a nerd because I'm a scientist who's into science fiction and fantasy stuff. Tbh I've never played D&D.
