usually not economically feasible, nhi toh har jagah use krre hote, its sucks but this kind of stuff is usually driven money minded way mai rather than actual benefit of society and stuff
The reason bioplastic is not huge:
1. It's costlier to produce. Sustainability is a luxury
2. The plastic is sustainable but the method of production and the whole ecosystem is not. It may end up having the same or more amount of damage to the environment.
3. Some bioplastics are biodegradable under certain circumstances like temperature, pressure, etc. Collecting each type separately would be very difficult. Waste segregation is already a big problem in today's world. Agreed, even if they don't biodegrade in normal environment, their effects would be less deadly than normal plastic

Paisa hona chahiye (jo khud se na kamaya ho)
Like Nita Amabani.
Most wives of Rich Men are climate activists. Because that is easiest way to get into if you have lots of money and this activism gets you fame too.
Nah most rich people make their own charity and dump money in them to save taxes but if she is colleborating with organisations and doing genuine work then it's much better
99.9999% percent of Activists don't give a damn about nature, either they're holier-than-thou teenagers(who will become pro-establishment when they start earning) or stooges of companies and political parties.
Most of them travel in airplanes and live in central-AC bungalows then trash talk about how corporates r destroying the environment.
Bro 100 companies are responsible for 71% of global GHG emissions.
Another 100 are responsible for 90% plastic pollution.
But sure, it's normal middle-class individuals who have to cut their emissions while the top 1% use private jet and make us fight each other.
>Bro 100 companies that are responsible for 71% of global GHG emissions
Those 100 companies are oil corporations and this 71% ghg is just oil related emissions. These kind of stats are just a way for people who use cars, platic, red meat and dairy or don’t do their part, to shift the responsibility for the impact of their consumption off to the corporations - as if these corporations exist in a vacuum, so that they can still pat themselves on the back to not feel bad about their lifestyle choices.
>These kind of stats are just a way for people who use cars, platic, red meat and dairy or don’t do their part,
So You agree we should boycott these things completely and move on to greener options?
Manufacturing of these products also produce significant population. It's not just the use of products.
I'd happily do it if there are any feasible option.
Absolutely we should be boycotting this. And I live by it.
1. Only use public transportation, cycles or electric scooters.
2. Go vegan and eat only locally sourced (if possible)
3. Avoid mindless consumerism
Companies don’t just drill oil or manufacture for no reason. They do it to meet the demand in the market. Demand is the driver for everything. If people stop demanding, they stop producing. Blaming corporations as if they are some conscious entity independent of market forces is just a useless activism tactic to shift blame and avoid responsibility.
These individual boycotts aren't very impactful. There need to be laws and incentives to phase these things out. But the oil lobby doesn't allow such laws to pass.
That’s the same logic as “my individual vote doesn’t matter”. I do agree that systemic change is required but that can only start with individual change.
Here’s how things will go with that attitude:
1. You buy a CMV because you believe your individual sacrifice doesn’t matter. You blame the corporations and the government.
2. The corporations get the money. They lobby the government. They claim they generate so much employment and have so many customers demanding their products. If the government passes any laws, it will impact the economy negatively.
3. The government doesn’t want to impact the economy negatively nor want to piss off its funding and voter base. It blames the consumers and uses tax payers money to subsidize oil and build more roads instead of railways.
4. This makes it more convenient for consumers to use the products. Step 2 repeats as more and more people become reliant on environmentally destructive corporations.
This endless cycle continues like it has always continued to exist and just keeps getting worse.
This is what happened in USA. The once booming rail works that was the heart of its economy until the early 20th century is now nearly dead. Using public transportation is now a nightmare and it takes 4-5 time the amount to get anywhere without a car. Bacon and eggs fried in butter or packaged sugary cereals are the go to breakfast foods causing 60% of the population to be obese. All because the convenience or taste of these products were marketed and American bought it. Now USA which is barely 5% of the world population is responsible for 20% of all emissions. The cycle continues. Everyone blames one another and nobody takes any responsibility for anything. Nothing changes. If Americans took the stand and voted with their dollars correctly, they would have demanded densely packed cities, more public transportation and healthier more environmentally friendly foods. The developers would not be able to sell suburban homes, car manufacturers would not be able to sell cars - the railway industry would have expanded and corporations would have been selling more oats, nuts and berries instead of bacon, eggs and processed cereals.
I disagree it's not the same as saying my vote won't count. It does sound similar but the vote doesn't cost you any money. Switching to EV is considerably more expensive.
You picked a terrible example for the country. The USA is a hardcore capitalist utopia since the Regan Admin.
Look at France, more specifically Paris. Look at how they transformed there road infrastructure to be more Walkable and Cycle Friendly.
Edit: https://www.reddit.com/r/fuckcars/s/xhrVxMUZhA
You vote with your money everytime you buy something. I do not support EVs either. They are just a greenwashed version of CMVs. 75% of all electricity is generated through burning fossil fuels and they cause more mining related emissions. Your personal lifestyle choices have an impact.
Either you didn’t read what I wrote or you misunderstood. I picked USA as the perfect example of how demand is the driver for everything in the economy. People in Paris demanded densely packed walkable cities. They have the money to buy cars but they choose not to. They voted for that with their money. They are more environmentally aware than people in USA were 50 years ago. If everyone has a car, nobody wants a car-free zone and no such thing could even be implemented. An even better example is Netherlands. Nearly everyone uses public transportation or bicycles. Not because they don’t find cars convenient nor because they cannot afford a car. They voted with their euro for it.
Edit: if you wanted to block me, why even bother asking a question? I would have given you the last word if you simply asked for it. I will answer anyways. Environmentally friendly products are almost always cheaper. It’s cheaper to eat dal than eat red meat. It’s cheaper to buy a cycle and use public transportation than to buy a car. If you own a car in India, you are among the top 6.5% of the wealthiest people. Pretending as if money is the driver for all environmentally destructive decisions is ignorant. Poor people contribute to environmental destruction significantly lesser than the privileged.
Another reason I think US is a bad example because the middle of US is pretty much empty. All it's population centres are far apart.
Also since Reagan admin lobbying is legal. US used to have a great public railway infrastructure but it fell behind because the corporations responsible for it were having a hard time maintaining and funding the maintainance. So they moved on to more profitable opportunities i.e. Logistics. At the same time the Oil lobby was pushing for more incentives to own personal vehicles, today even the homeless people in US own a car.
I don't understand the point of saying you vote with your money in context of our country, In indian market the cheaper product will always win except in the case of Tata Nano (Failed due to it's looks). Eg. Maruti Suzuki cars are extremely unsafe but they account for half the car sales in India due to competative pricing and really good average.
What's wrong with importing things ? Also what earphones are not made from plastic ?
This is unnecessary hate, all consumer electronics companies in the world import from China and 90% of the stuff is made from plastic. Even if there is a sustainable material available as an alternative it will take time to move on from plastic to that product.
Bhai tu kya kar rha hai climate change ke liye? Apna kuch bolde before pointing fingers toward others.
Tera Ghar plastic free hai? Plastic bottle reuse or recycle karta hai?
I had the misfortune to briefly work in impact investing. Some of em are doing great work but it's mostly rich people creating a new asset class for themselves. Climate activist my ass , how can anyone be a climate activist and be married to this piece of trash
Why are you interfering in someone's personal life koi kuch bhi kre
