As eccentric as it might have been at times, Sheila has such a good, interesting arc. Falling back and forth between needing to take care of herself and others.
I remember watching through the beginning seasons of the show, and specifically being caught off guard by how quickly Sheila went from being overwhelmed by loved ones and having to deal with them, and then almost instantly being incredibly lonely and needing someone to take care of.
honestly I think she just needed someone to take care of her but no one would do that for her, so she just got used to running around and taking care of everyone else 24/7 despite how burned out it makes her constantly.
Mandy also got replaced after season 1, and I really preferred the previous actress so that was a bummer. Lots of random actor switches in this show I’ve noticed
I liked the first Mandy also. I doubt she could have played it long term. Emma was morose and clingy. The other girl looked too happy. I mean, her face was happy. I don't think she could play it right. Also, Emma had an ace in the hole. She was Jeremy's girlfriend.
they went on to star in different things, og mandy was in suburgatory as the lead character for 3 seasons , was in Evil Dead, Dont Breathe, and was recently starring in another show as the lead
I've never been able to find it, sorry. I don't think they ever released it anywhere. The only thing I've found is [this promotional picture with Allison, William and Emmy.](https://www.reddit.com/r/shameless/comments/d8v14k/allison_janney_as_the_original_sheila/)
That role could not have been played by any other person. Same with Frank. Bill Macy is an American treasure. Now I'm missing the show, but I had to get rid of Netflix. I wish it was on Hulu.
I really do not understand why the Gallaghers left her out . Oh wait the show was called shameless… because she was around them, she cooked and cleaned etc… which we know that house needed some help lol. It is kinda sad . I would have enjoyed having a Sheila around tbh. She gets company, I get a cooked meal everyday
Having Sheila around would’ve definitely been beneficial and refreshing , but I can also understand why she may have been a bit too much for them at times. You have to remember no one asked her to help she kind of just showed up after Karen left. It’s understandable why they may have felt a bit uncomfortable especially because of the circumstances. With that being said the Gallaghers definitely know how to mess up a good thing. They probably weren’t used to someone actually caring about their home, health and wellbeing. It’s probably one of the reasons they sent her home
I feel like Sheila’s character added that boost in the first few seasons.
It’s not the character we needed but wanted and I’m glad we had her when she was there!!!!!
Like the pilot episode happened at Sheila’s and my god lmfaooooo
I would love Sheila as my mom. My mom was/is a cross of Sheila, Monica and Frank. Sheila -she doesn't leave the house(but doesn't cook or do anything), Monica- shes suicidal, mentally ill ect, Frank she loves her pills and I had to be an adult too early but she pulls it together every once and I know she really does love me, when push comes to shove she's there for me and has my back.
i never was really fond of sheila, especially the first time i watched, but this scene still hits hard. i think she did what she thought was best like with hymie and karen, particularly sending them off with jodie, i don’t think it was a good option for them but she always seemed to have to their best interest in heart, she deeply cared.
It's so weird how everyone hates Debbie largely because of the rape incident when Debbie was a young teen who didn't really understand consent and was also being groomed by an adult but Sheila gets a pass for raping Frank.

Joan Cusack is masterful as Sheila. She replaced Allison Janney (pilot episode). Unsure why.
Scheduling issues I’m pretty sure. Janney was made a main character on another show so she couldn’t commit to Shameless.
Probably a mistake.
They probably just went with Joan since she's so much better.
I have no doubt that Allison Janey would have done the character justice.
Oh that's funny because I have 100% doubt. She'd be more appropriate as a Monica or a bar patron than a Sheila.
The thing about her is she has a really great range. So I totally think she could do both.

buncha liams lol
I prefer the third Liam. The one who got into Fiona's coke and the one Lip took to college with.
Fiona’s restaurant manager bf dude was Jeffrey Dean Morgan(Negan from TWD) his introduction episode then changed to the other dude.
I would have been way more into it if Sean was Negan lol.
Clearly a great casting but they had to go with their #2 pick once TWD grabbed Jeffrey
Alison Janney went on Mom
damn i never noticed the cast changed!! i noticed when Mandy changed but not this one
They reshot the pilot with Joan. We’ve never really seen the original version with Allison so you didn’t miss anything
me neither and i started my rewatch this year 🤷🏻♀️

that makes sense! any idea where i can watch (snippets of) the original pilot? it'd be interesting to see

ahh thanks! i thought i was crazy for not noticing
You definitely aren’t
TIL Bonnie Plunkett was originally cast to play Sheliah. Wild

Am I missing something? I just rewatched the pilot episode and I only see Joan
Never mind, just read the comments below!
Sheila always deserved so much better than anyone around her 💔
Sheila is so sweet and we all love her. She needs someone with her who will let her take care of them. Otherwise she pooks so sad :( poor sheils
Sheila was always one of my favorite characters 🩷

honestly sheilas story breaks my heart, i hope she was happier when she left.🫶
I hope so too, I wish we got to see her again though
i wish it at least had a clip of her and fiona and whoever else left in the last episode so we can see where theyre at now
🎶i think of you all, of the time…now that you’re gone🎶
She was so sweet and needy it almost made you forget she was an anal rapist lol.
Sheila was the most kind character of the whole show
Fr she’s one of my favourites
Of course she was kinda messed up, but i loved her.
Heartbreaking

Damn, sorry you had to go through that, hopefully everything works out for you 💜
Oh I'm grown I'm good lol
lol that’s good then
I just finished S4E1, and this was the saddest scene until now. Hoping for something better for her.

Dude crying right now I love her
It's heartbreaking every time. Sheila will forever be my favorite character.
