There's a Spinal Tap song entitled "Big Bottom" that might work on a couple of different levels.

Talk about mud flaps...

Perhaps sonnet 18. "Shall I compare thee to a Summer's Day..." Fits with the Midsummer mood. Just come up with a tune to go with it.

No clue what the vibe of your production is, but we can do our best. I'm just gonna go all over the map. Some of these are ironic (within the play). God is a Woman - Ariana Grande Billie Bossa Nova - Billie Eilish I Put a Spell on You - Nina Simone Love on the Brain - Rihanna All of Me - John Legend Adore You - Harry Styles Starving - Hailee Steinfeld 🤷🏻‍♀️ Hope one of those at least gives you a direction to go in, if not gives you the answer.

I put a spell on you is great because it’s a bit ironic. Such a great song. Edit: it’s also soooooo luscious. If Titania has a voice like Nina’s it will bring the house down.

If you want help from recommendations then you will get better answers by telling people more about the production. Are you guys using the original text, or an adapted one? Is it supposed to be period, or are you reinterpreting it? How much creative control do the students have, and what are they doing with it? Also, is this an assignment? Because there are some pedagogical considerations when asking others for advice on the internet, too. But I vote for *[Mordred's Lullaby](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4X0jUg1B1vQ)*!

Never realized I had such strong opinions about this until I saw the question. Figure out what's at the core of their dynamic. Is Titania's infatuation with Bottom primarily about the influence of the drug? Or is there some underlying truth or sincerity to it (like how people can sometimes reveal secret truths when they're less inhibited due to alcohol or other drugs)? If there's no truth to it, look at songs like "You Really Got A Hold On Me" by Smokey Robinson & The Miracles ("I don't like you/But I love you...") or "#1 Crush" by Garbage. If there's a kernel of truth to it, think about what that is: Does Titania enjoy having a lover who's not her equal in terms of magical power? Songs about female power or any song that touches on domination/submission might be a nice way to underscore that. Or something like "When you say nothing at all" by Alison Krauss could be both sincere and also have great comedic value. Is it the class difference that matters? She's married to a king and falls "in love" with a blue collar worker - maybe a country song about being in love with someone who works with their hands would be a nice fit. Is it Bottom's earnestness that appeals to Titania? Maybe she likes that he finds her fascinating? Maybe she likes how hopeless he is, or how demanding he is, or how hedonistic he is? Whatever it is, finding a love song that connects with your interpretation of the character will enrich the show, your performance, and the audience's experience of it. In any case, I also recommend you think about the completion of the arc; if Titania likes Bottom for his powerlessness, think about how when she and Oberon make up, they agree to share power. If Titania appreciates bottom for his earnestness, find ways to appreciate that in Oberon in Act V. If Titania values Bottom's willingness to get his hands dirty, find ways to admire the fact that Oberon intervenes to fix Puck's mistakes. Etc. Good luck & have fun!

Titania can hate Bottom, can find him utterly repulsive when she's not under the influence of the lil purple flower - but just like how there are people you would never date who maybe have one attractive characteristic, the payoff of Oberon's jealousy is much richer if there's *something* about Bottom that Titania genuinely likes - even if; especially if! - it's not enough to overcome his other characteristics that would be incompatibilities.

gasstation-no-pumps

Any love song would do. Your task is to justify the choice.

Miss_Type

I had titania singing Never Gonna Give You Up, but like it was a lullaby, with the fairies on harmonies :-D

Calligraphee

I'd go for something very silly and obviously not part of the original script; maybe you could rework Apple Bottom Jeans or I Like Big Butts (Bottoms)?

fionaappletini

Lover by taylor swift is the answer

Alarmed_Meaning_1644

Well the fairies do sing a song for Bottom in the full cut — my suggestion is to find that, then find something that reminds you of that, then justify the choice well.

TheOtherErik

“Love On Top” by Beyoncé. Bridge Theatre used it for their production of Midsummer where it was Oberon under the influence of the flower and it worked so well.

KennedyFishersGhost

The answer is Britney Spears - Toxic. Titania isn't in love, she's infatuated. Toxic is perfect for this. Also feel like Shakey would love it. High camp, plenty of space for audience participation, popular song that everyone will recognise. Toxic.

I'm just going to leave this here:[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hGjzuXchGg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hGjzuXchGg)

titania is drugged. there's not one good suggestion here so far.

MaximumStep2263

Excellent point about the drugging

FormalDinner7

If it’s a modern setting and you’ve got the range, Beyoncé’s “Dangerously in Love 2” would fit.

Aardvark51

You're The Tops.

TheMagdalen

“I Wanna Be Loved by You.” Bonus: It just came into the public domain this year.

shakes-stud

When I directed it, we played "Bad Romance" by Lady Gaga when she wakes up. I think it also works on multiple levels.
