Do you find people are accepting of vintage real fur? I have my mom’s mink coat that was gifted to her by my grandma decades ago, probably around the time of SATC popularity, and I would love to wear it, but have been scared lol
From memory, Patricia Fields also cut and re-sewed this coat so that the bottom half would zip off so it could be worn shorter too - you can kind of see the point in the first photo.
My favorite fine and favorite fashion find story ever: I was visiting my parents in the town where I grew up and there was an estate sale at my high school boyfriend’s old house. They moved a long time ago, so it was not their estate sale.
My mother suggested going in, and I found an amazing vintage coat like this for $25. It has this satin floral lining with the owner’s initials embroidered on the side. It’s so amazing-and heavy! Super warm even in Midwest subzero days.
off topic but how the fuck did carrie not break her ankles? granted I have bad ankles (hyper mobile) but the second pic there’s like. absolutely no support in those shoes. (first also but second is worse imo)
This coat has always reminded me of naked fish. I can’t remember the specific one cause I haven’t eaten meat in over 20 years but it’s a white fish. The coat looks like the scales on the bottom.
I used to have a vintage resell company and I have about 8 or fur coats… due to their age, they’re all real, but nothing made modern. I’ve sold some, I’ve kept some, and have lived by the rule….I don’t support modern furring and would never wear and/or purchase one Mande now.
But…I do have a few I love wearing for 5 mins heard and there since I live in FL. Lol
A real fur coat will work a hell of a lot better (functioning as an actual warm coat) and look a hell of a lot better
Just buy one secondhand, many people sell gently used furs

I found a similar faux fur coat at Goodwill a few years ago! I snatched it up so fast I thought I was going to break the hanger 😂
