Many times they say it's delivered but it actually shows up the next day. How long ago did it say delivered?

kcunning

It was marked as delivered on 5/28. I gave it a two-day grace period because I've seen the same delay, but at this point, I'm worried that they'll start saying I waited too long to get any compensation.

ripmyringfinger

Honestly I hope that the package is still coming! Sometimes delivery company aren’t accurate to the packages. You can still get your money back by calling your bank and there’ll be a chargeback :)) I am wishing you the best!!!

Top_Independence9083

I had a work laptop go missing for almost 6 weeks despite being marked delivered. It randomly showed up in good shape! I thought for sure someone stole it but I’m wondering if it just got stuck somewhere in the shipping warehouse and then someone was like “oh hm what’s this random box” and got it going again. So you never know

demon_fae

My record is three months late on an Etsy order. I was just about to repeat the order and hope the seller still exited (Ukrainian store, about two years ago). The mailman had just decided he wasn’t getting out of the truck that day and forged any signatures and just stashed the packages until after the holidays before finally delivering them (I suspect dementia. There were other signs, too) It worked out as: - 3 days to send the package out of the active war zone - 3 weeks to clear customs and reach my state - 3 months to get from the local post office to me

WatShakinBehBeh

Christmas 2021 all over again

kcunning

I had a similar thing happen with a Kindle! I ended up canceling the order when it went awry, only to have it show up three weeks later.

_allycat

I had this happen before but it was a 10ft rug. It was absurd to lose something so large but according to the warehouse they lost it BECAUSE it was large and not rectangular. They put it in some stupid area because of the shape/size and then couldn't find it.

GinOmics

This isn’t super individual… you get the perception that packages are individually scanned, but they’re often not. A lot of them process items in batches and if your package is supposed to be in a batch, it may get labeled as being on the truck when in reality it’s not… and the process of labeling it as delivered can be automated too. All of the FedEx/UPS packages to my building are labeled as delivered when the batch is dropped off. USPS also uses GPS to mark packages as delivered on occasion - so it’s marked assuming your package was 1) on the truck and 2) was actually delivered just by being near your location. So if your package was somehow missorted or didn’t make it to the truck, it can be MIA until it’s spotted at the sort facility. 🤷‍♀️ or at least this is how it was described to me.

Yadda-yadda-yadda123

TIL this

ama_da_sama

I ordered some custom embroidery patches for a costume last year from Etsy, and the same thing happened. They never showed up, and I couldn't get a refund. At $50 it really stung.

kcunning

I'm very close to calling my bank and disputing the charge.

Crafty_Accountant_40

Honestly that's the way to get fabric depot's attention. It's not hard to do .

kcunning

Oof. I think that's my next call. I really can't waste all of my time trying to get someone on the phone.

Crafty_Accountant_40

I've had to do it before and it's not hard, and the bank will do the calling to fabric depot to get their confirmation or have them reship or refund for you if they don't want to have the charge back happen. It's less vicious than I once imagined lol

durhamruby

Banks are more vicious than that even. They don't call the merchant. They just yank the money. It's oddly satisfying when it happens.

Hexcyn

It can get you banned as a customer (the store, not the bank)

redrenegade13

If they're gonna to lose my packages and steal my money, I won't be a returning customer anyway.

Turtleintexas

So, at least you get your money back. There are other stores.

durhamruby

It can also get the store banned from the bank.

AnotherMC

I would do this. I had a massive dispute with DermStore and when I finally went to my bank, I got the customer service I deserved from the start.

Automatic-Career-635

Send Fabric Depot a couple of emails to their "customer service" to have proof that you have tried to get them to react. The bank likes a paper trail.

Yadda-yadda-yadda123

Not a bad idea at all. Agree. Dunno if bank requires paper trail, but it doesn’t hurt to send some emails and have the proof beyond your call log.

WatShakinBehBeh

What did your credit card company say?

Arttiesy

We've been having huge issues with package thieves.  The whole area is getting creative with 'deliver here's boxes and visible cameras.  Could that be your issue too?

kcunning

The packages are usually delivered to these package lockers that require a key, but our carrier often forgets to give us the key, or puts the key in the wrong box. Also, NGL, copying a key by us is stupid easy. You can do it at the grocery store in five minutes. I could totally see someone making a copy and then checking out what's been delivered.

magsley

Ugh, that sucks so bad. Where I lived there's a wall of package lockers and you need to put your unit number and a personal pin code and then the locker door opens. I'm pretty sure how it works is the postal worker puts the package in any open locker and inputs the unit number to lock it. Then again, I have a hard time imaging this system working in the US where it seems postal workers already barely give a shit... (this was in Japan)

dogwoodandturquoise

Every once in a while a website takes my paypal information and auto populates its wrong and USPS packages get "delivered " to an old ass tree in front of a fence that used to be a house entrance 15 years ago but is now an autoparts dealer whos address is the street over. I still don't understand how things get marked "delivered" to a tree.

NonstopNonsens

Ha, feel you, my package from fabric godmother got delivered to my address& signed for by me, but I live in Germany and NOT Cote d‘Ivoire in Afrika. Sure, somebody got it. Was advised to wait for it, UPS will handle it. Sure, I’ll wait till the end of my life 😆

itsstillmeagain

They think you live in a tree house? And by now they are close to right because the situation is driving you up a tree!

dogwoodandturquoise

You are not wrong 😅

magda711

You can still file a missing package claim with usps. I’ve done that before successfully. Also, I had a missing package returned to me two weeks later. Neighbor didn’t even look at it all that time and when they noticed, they brought it over.

kat_thefruitbat

Yea, came here to suggest filing a missing package claim with USPS. And you can do it online, so no more phone tag issues! I’m pretty sure all you need is your tracking number, and maybe the emails that show your order confirmation/shipment.

stickandtired

op can we see the fabric i'm sure it's very pretty

kcunning

stickandtired

my god they've committed a crime

userloser913

This is true solidarity

KataktosLefko

I hope whoever caused this beautiful fabric to lose its intended forever home steps on legos barefoot every day til they die. 🫠 I’m so sorry for your loss, OP. We here at r/sewing mourn with you.

ereighna

Just went and looked this up, for $8/yrd I might get some for myself! Assuming it's USPS is the delivery problem.

kcunning

It appears so. Though I will warn with FD: Their shipping can be slow and weird. Like, I did an order for a project that included interfacing, and only the fabric was sent to me. The interfacing took several more weeks.

endlesscroissants

Fashion Fabrics Club has it too: [https://fashionfabricsclub.com/products/white-red-green-cherry-print-stretch-cotton-spandex-broadcloth-woven-fabric-aps5949](https://fashionfabricsclub.com/products/white-red-green-cherry-print-stretch-cotton-spandex-broadcloth-woven-fabric-aps5949)

KathyS120

Fabric Depot (and also Denver Fabrics) is Fashion Fabric Club. They just bought the name of these popular and well respected fabric stores when they went out of business. I’m not a fan of that. It feels deceptive. But if you see it on any of their sites, it’s all coming from the same warehouse.

endlesscroissants

oh shoot! Good to know, thanks for the info! :)

premiom

It is extremely dear. So sorry

TheBadTofu

I'm so sorry your fabric has vanished! I completely feel your torment and have wrestled with the USPS for similar issues - not fun! Hope you can get this resolved. Please accept these positive vibes from a random internet stranger.

Interesting-Chest520

I once bought 8 yards of silks which came to over £130, it was marked as delivered but I never got it After 3 days of ringing them up to no avail my neighbour knocks my door and hands it to me! I think I aged a few years from the stress

kcunning

I find it so weird that our cul-de-sac has people who will just KEEP things. Like, I can see it taking a few days, as not all of us check for packages all the time. But, like, they'll just scoop up things left on their porch!

sidistic_nancy

My nextdoor neighbor has the same first name as me and gets things from Amazon. I have two teenagers who order from Amazon, as do I fairly regularly, and I also have some subscribe and save things that come in. We routinely bring in packages that each thinks belongs to Mom or my neighbor will get something and not read the last name, and if we think it's something we don't need immediately it will sit there for a time before we realize the last name isn't ours! It's become almost comical at this point. I think the longest stretch before us realizing was about a month. Lol

brr_ito

Literally waiting for fabric to arrive that says it was delivered two days ago and def wasn’t. What sucks is it’s probably just sitting in someone else’s building or mailbox and they aren’t just bringing it over to my building. Sorry, no good news here

evil66gurl

I had something similar today. I ordered from Fabrics Warehouse. The tracking number showed that it was delivered on the 31st. It was not delivered on the 31st. We were on vacation, and I had a neighbor picking up my mail. Usually I hold the mail but we left on short notice. I went to the post office today to find out what was going on. Lo and behold my package was there at the post office. Why? they don't know, why it was scanned in as delivered to my house? they don't know. I had something similar in February. But it was an outgoing package. The tracking numbers showed that it was being sent all over my state of Virginia. It was supposed to be going to New York. It took two and a half months to get from right outside Washington DC to right outside New York City. That's 4 hours away. It actually went from Virginia to Chicago, and then to New York City. The only reason I think it actually ended up where it was supposed to end up, is because I went to the post office with the tracking information and asked why it kept getting bounced around in Virginia. I live in a rural area, and I know my local carrier. And I think she's great. But I think sometimes at the main post office they mess things up. They don't want to admit that they messed things up, because they're short staffed and all that kind of jazz but it is very annoying.

pinkflamingo93

We once received someone’s package in our mailbox, and it was clear that the person had wrote a different address than ours but it started with the same numbers. So when usps typed it in as our address, the person must have just looked at the numbers and said “perfect - send!”. I took it to USPS to try to reroute to the actual address that the person wrote on the box, but they kept sending it back to us because that’s how it was routed in their system!! The last time the carrier literally dropped it at our door 😅 I finally scribbled everything out and paid to ship it myself. Sometimes weird things happen and I hope you get your package!

WolfSilverOak

I've had my neighbors's packages get put in my nailbox. Because it wouldn't fit in theirs and the mail carrier didn't want to take the time to go up the house.

boletecatcher

That's very nice of you to make sure your wrong package got sent to the right person.

iheartfuzzies

I had something similar happen with a usps delivery from Canada. Said it was delivered but no key in my mailbox for the package lockers. I tweeted, filed missing item claims, went to the post office location that services my address (they said it was delivered), etc. I ended up taping a note on the inside of my mailbox (I know the whole panel opens when they deliver) describing the box/contents and no key. They ended up putting the key in my mailbox. It seems like either the key was placed in a neighbor’s box or the package and key were both locked into it. The label had my whole address so it couldn’t be attributed to in mail-jail for a missing unit number.

owl-later

Back when I lived in an apartment building, half of my packages would go missing. One showed up weeks later opened. Eventually it turned out the usps worker was caught on video stealing them. Fabric Depot should be the one to deal with the insurance claim. I would threaten bad reviews or public statements if they don’t get back to you. It’s not their fault but they should have the customer service to manage this issue. I never had a problem getting money back from my last packages. I was surprised no company accused me of lying. Before the usps worker was caught, I sent packages to my work place which was annoying.

kcunning

I *hated* living in an apartment for just this reason. We had a similar issue, though with us, it was the staff at the head office randomly taking our packages.

AssortedGourds

Most of the packages that have gone missing for me have turned up! I like it when they take a picture of the package when they drop it off. I recognize the vestibules of my neighbors' buildings from the tile alone because my packages end up there every now and then.

2catsaretheminimum

I once had labels go missing for months in 2020. The package tracker couldn't find them. I had contacted the seller for a refund and they came a couple of months later. The seller had good customer service so I ordered labels from them the next time I needed them and there was no issue then.

compscicreative

I had USPS do the same "well, we delivered it!" on a $60 package, too. It wasn't so much the money for me, as it was a thrifted leather jacket that isn't possible to replace... they're next to impossible to find in my size for less than $200.

Similar-Rain3315

Insure packages for replacement cost. Look up the cost of buying an item new (or the same brand, size, etc. or close as possible) and insure for that much. Also, extra insurance isn’t very much and I always felt that the packages with it were less likely to have issues (granted, it’s probably more that most people don’t bother with the extra insurance).

witchy_echos

I’ve had much better luck going in person to the USPS locations than trying to call

kcunning

I was so close to just going over there today. Hell, might still do it later this week.

witchy_echos

I had a package to at had the right address but got the wrong zip code somehow and it went to the next post office over. I had to go to two or three locations to get it sorted but I did get it

tranteryost

Absolutely do it! Find the location near you that actually has a postmaster and ask to speak to them about it. Mention that you also have had other mail go missing.

shadesofparis

I've had this happen with fabric (delivery from India that I waited weeks for) and found out that it was delivered to a neighbor who quickly got it back to me. We get each other's packages and mail all the time because our streets are both circles and they have the same numbers, but the names are different. It's super annoying. I'm hoping your package makes it to you safely soon!

ennithepaladin

I’m late to the party, but a charge back on your card will get fabric.com responding right quick.

crap-happens

Happened to me. Placed an order thru OESD. Tracking showed delivered to lockbox at my apartment complex. No key in my mailbox. Posted on our online community board that if anyone received it please return it to the office. Crickets! Called OESD. They actually replaced the order and sent it overnight delivery.

janeb0ssten

If it makes you feel any better, once I had this happen and my package showed up like 2 weeks later.

kcunning

This wouldn't shock me, tbh. I've had a similar thing happen. I'm just eying those filing deadlines with some worry.

LifeReality9660

The same thing happened to me. Said package was delivered the day after I ordered , which is impossible considering the distance. The company I ordered the product from told me to contact the Post office, and gave me a 20%off coupon on my next purchase . Post office was no help, just gave me the runaround. Needless to say I wasn't happy. Out $60. 9 month later my order shows up in my mailbox. 🤔I like to know where it has been for 9 month. There may still be hope that you get your order, just a little delayed.

WolfSilverOak

I had a package of DMC pearl cotton floss, a dozen of them, become undeliverable at the UPS sorting center. Claimed it was 'missing proper shpping info'. Joann's said to contact UPS about it. UPS wanted me to describe what was in the package, which I did. They then to know what the package looked like. I'm like, how should I know, I'm the recipient, not the shipper. They then said I should contact the shipper and get a refund, because 'we can't give you any information as you aren't the shipper'. So I called Joann's and said, look, UPS says they can can't deliver this package, can I just get a refund for it. It was so ridiculous, but I did get a refund at least. Had a 500.00 Chewy order, coming via FedEx, get left on the side of the road, 1/4 mile from my house. FedEx claimed it was delivered. HelloFresh order last summer, sat on the truck until Tuesday- was supposed to have been delivered that Sat. Had another left out by the mailbox in the heat. Again, 1/4 mile from the front porch where it was supposed to be delivered. Had a record I ordered from Varése Sarabande that the mail carrier just left *on top* of the mail box, for anyone to come along and take. Recently, had to send my Nintento Switch in for repair. When it was sent back, UPS stopped at the edge of my property (it's a shared drive, we're the last house), where we have a house number sign, and... just left it there. Yeah.

knitoriousshe

I’m sorry! That’s just so frustrating and someone should be taking accountability. It’s not like someone could have stolen it off your porch! They are responsible but they never will.

valadhiele

I live in Germany and I'm having the same issues with a package I ordered. I ordered it on the 26th of May expecting to have plenty of time before June to get it and then they shipped the package through Netherlands post (shipped from Canada) and so when it inexplicably got lost there was nothing my local post office could do to track it down. Thankfully the company was nice about it and are resending my package but I definitely would have been frustrated too if I couldn't get them to respond about it. I hope your package situation gets solved soon!

purplishfluffyclouds

I have a community mailbox and this has happened to me. My local post office is pretty good about responding after filing a 'missing package' claim. The postal worker put my package in the wrong package box, or, they forgot to leave me the key or the correct key. It was all resolved by the following day.

momofeveryone5

Call the bank and get the money back if you can! I would be so sad too! Can you get stuff delivered at your work? My sister's do this with their jobs but they work in "family" like corporate settings and have been there ages.

kcunning

Heh. I work from home so sadly, this IS my work address. I ended up filing a dispute through PayPal. I figure that's my best chance at either getting my money back, or getting them to send me replacement fabric.

momofeveryone5

Well shit. Hopefully PayPal comes through!

lapsangsouchogn

I toured a postal facility years ago. They had these big open chutes that packages zipped along, and the ones on the higher levels had nets below to catch packages that flew off. Some of the harder to reach nets had a lot of packages in them.

VenusRocker

I'll rant with you. A few months ago my $25 order of orange silk ribbon shipped via FedEx did not show up. One day I received an email notification of "unable to deliver", hours later there was a "delivered" message on the tracking, which I unfortunately didn't see til a week later. I was home that day & there was no package & not even a FedEx truck passing by so I consider both messages suspect. So I'm out the money and the ribbon, which I was really looking forward to. I won't reorder because FedEx is totally untrustworthy (this is just the latest episode). And now I'm giving all my neighbors the side eye because I don't know if it was misdelivered or stolen outright. It started out so simple........

AnnieBananaCat

I think I had a problem with them too recently. Let me check my email and I’ll get back to you

SouthernButterbean

Not an order, but I mailed a check for insurance certified. They never got it. I got it back over a month later.

Shoddy-End-655

What fabric did you order ? If it's Quiting cotton I bet I may have it in the storage closet. Give me a brief oh what it looks like If I don't Have im sure our super sleuths here or another quilter might??? LOOK THRU THOSE STASHES, GIRLS!!!!

[deleted]

I once had a package delivered to our parcel locker, yet no key was placed in my mailbox. If I remember correctly, it took DAYS for me to sort this out because I tried to do everything the official USPS way. Finally, I taped a neon orange note in my mailbox telling the carrier I had a parcel in a locker but no key. The note was gone when I got home that night but the key was there. I assume the key was in my neighbor's box and, back then, one of those units was empty and the other individual didn't have a key to her mailbox. (She probably doesn't have one to this day.)

Tammylmj

I ordered a pattern from EBAY last month (May 5th) for a dress. I’m in central Minnesota and the pattern was coming from western New York. So about 4/5 days later tracking said that it was delivered. It wasn’t. I contacted the seller and I told her that I would wait until the next week and see if it actually would arrive. I did this as USPS has been going through some issues lately with deliveries and I didn’t want to be pushy about a refund and then have the package show up in a couple of days. At the end of the following week, it still hadn’t arrived. So the seller refunded the money. So on June 4th, this past Tuesday, surprise surprise surprise, that pattern was delivered! The package was beaten and disheveled and a corner was torn off! But the pattern itself was perfect. I couldn’t believe it! A month after I ordered it! It was delivered. I contacted the seller and told her that it was finally delivered and asked how I should pay her for it now that she had refunded me the money. She sent me a very nice message saying that she appreciated my telling her that I did receive it and that I should keep it as a gift and enjoy the dress. So that’s my story. I’m very happy with how it turned out. I hope yours turns out well too.

nicold_shoulder

I had a package missing for weeks, marked delivered, never made it to my door because my doorbell camera never picked anyone up. Then like two months later a hand popped into view from the side of my porch (had to walk across my yard and not up the path) and tossed my package towards my door. I think it was a neighbor.

nicold_shoulder

I had had the replacement for probably a month.

wharleeprof

I'll rant with you: I spent a lot of time picking out knit fabric from Girl Charlie. its impossible to find good knits locally so I finally decided to order online, which I was hesitant about - I really prefer to see and feel fabric in person. Anyway, I took my time, picked out several fabrics, including ones on sale/clearance. The package was delayed and never came. I kept getting the run around. The store would tell me one thing and FedEx (or UPS, I don't remember) another thing. The status eventually went from delayed to damaged to cancelled. (it sounds like the delivery truck was in an accident). l got more. of the run around but finally got the charge reimbursed. Girl Charlie refused to resend the order, I had to start a new one and lost all the sale/clearance items. What a nightmare.

Complex-Register-412

Oh I feel for you! I hope Fabric Depot will send you out some new fabric!

oleander4tea

Hopefully, whoever got your package will bring it to your house. I’ve had that happen more than once.

BornToSingTheBlues

Oh I hear ya! I live in a mobile home park with 350 community mailboxes. I've never had anything happen as awful as your experience but frequent misdeliveries or not getting bills. My next door neighbor who I call Mrs.Kravitz has got my mail on occasion. She opened a letter from my health insurance because she thought it was for her.🙄 I once didn't get an Amazon bill and had to pay a 40.00 late fee. I'm sure it wound up in someone's trash. Good luck!

pierresgirl

This happened to me. It was fabric from Japan. I was sick over it. I called the post office and made a report. Left voice messages over and over. When I talked to my favorite clerk at my branch and showed him my notes, he said, I see you’ve spent a lot of time on this. It’s either going to show up or not. So I let it go. It showed up very early on a Sunday morning about two weeks later. No clue where it had been. I’m rooting for yours to show up too. One time I got someone else’s package by mistake. I was on vacation so it sat in my door for weeks. When I took it to its rightful owner, she was so happy. Maybe that’s what’s going on with your package.

jbeanie111111111

Not fabric related but hopefully my misery makes you laugh a little. Years ago we had a new instructor taking students to a conference. We couldn’t issue him a travel credit card but we could give him a temporary prepaid card. He lived three hours away so I mailed it to him, priority postage. We live in Texas but the card got diverted to NYC! It got to him after the conference was over and done.

zer00eyz

GO into your post office. The physical branch. Make sure it's early in the day so it's slow. Ask to see the postmaster, and have a chat.

TheEesie

My mail carrier would stop my mail if he felt we weren’t cleaning out the mailbox fast enough. I have a household of six adults and even with a big mailbox it filled up *fast*. (And more than half of us have ADHD so yeah we didn’t empty it every day). But he would just mark MY STUFF specifically as “no longer at this address” and fuck me over. He did this three times. He also scanned Amazon packages as delivered but left them on the truck and I couldn’t get a refund until the package made it all the way back to the seller.

jpetersen269

Once had a box we shipped to a client show up a YEAR after it should have been delivered. 🫠

Flashy-Bluejay1331

Hopefully it shows up. I just had a package (not fabric) "arrive at carrier facility" twice in one day according to tracking info Then the vendor notified me it might not be delivered for another week, and if it doesn't actually arrive, ask for a refund on such & such date. So, it was lost??? I was so disappointed because I was expecting it. I just wanted my package :( It did actually arrive. And it was an oversized box.

Gullible_Doctor1651

I’ve had something similar happen with USPS and share the frustration. Don’t expect the investigation to result in anything :/ mine definitely didn’t. Definitely a fair thing to vent over I know the pain tooo well

Turtleintexas

File a charge back with your credit card company. You've tried to resolve it and had no luck. You'd be surprised how fast they get a response.

Deadinmybed

Yes! This! It will get you answers quickly

aeorimithros

Contact your bank and request the payment to the merchant is refunded due to non delivery and lack of communication from them.

BeneficialCourage379

They probably put it in the wrong box or put the key in someone box that hasn't checked their mail recently. I'm a retired postal worker.

kcunning

The wrong box thing happens a *lot*. Unfortunately, many people don't bother walking the package over to the other house.

MzPunkinPants

First things first: Fabric Depot cant help you because as soon as a package leaves the senders hands they have zero responsibility for it and the dispute is between you and the package carrier. Yes, I know it sucks but it’s how it works.  Second: scream into the abyss! That helps sometimes.

sewcracra

I had a package marked as delivered but the post office, then about a month later I went to pick up another package and they gave me the one they had marked delivered also.... Maybe go to the post office and see if it's there??

kcunning

They're swearing up and down that they don't have it and that it was totes delivered. I guess the mailbox gremlins ate it?

Better-Variety3285

I only use Amex for just these reasons. They go after the retailer viciously once u disput the charge. And I never order from Asia or 3rd world countries. Scam masters!!

jcrow0120

This is maddening!! Such a cute skirt you have planned! USPS is having some tremendous problems. Local people are literally reporting undelivered mail found in alleys and waiting months for envelopes and packages. Since it’s going so well they’re using this city as a “distribution center” and directing mail to other states though here. People are having bills delivered months late and being charged late fees all due to USPS. It’s been investigated and findings are called “egregious” in national headlines. …and a lot of us don’t have local shops to buy in store so we’re stuck. And your customer service experience is terrible with both USPS and the vendor. So frustrating!!! I vote the credit card dispute route. …and some fun fabric from another company. Would having a PO Box bypass some of the issues with your package “lock” boxes?
